Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Hooo boy! You see that?
That title?
Well, we gotta have some kind of order in all this chaos, right?

At any rate.

FIrst up.
DISCORD.
I've mentioned it a few times before over Skype. I really like it. And I want it.
Currently the MAIN villain of about 90% of our downtimes has been 'surprisingly' enough the M-chat.
But at the very same time the M-chat has been the primary source of all initial communication players see and receive with the rest of the community.
M-chat is great for that purpose, and it's done a terrific job at accomplishing this.
But the unfortunate case of the M-chat is that the liability we risk by having it up, is the site getting another seizure and then having a half an hour breaktime as support is called in to reboot it up again.

The Administration team had a lengthy discussion about this, and solution we came up with was Discord.
Why Discord?
  • It's easy, it functions like IRC and only requires 1 login.
  • It works basically everywhere, on browser, Iphone, Ipad, Android, Linux, Apple OS, and Windows.
  • It updates frequently, and adds new, fun and exciting functions which we'll continue to utilize in the chatrooms.
  • There's possibility of getting bots and other tools to make the experience on Discord all the more awesome.
  • It's free! And it doesn't use any of NC's server loads, so it's all pretty cool in that respect.

So without further ado, the Discord tool will be replacing the M-chat momentarily as we do the final testing, and setting up all the buttons and such.

When you first join Discord, please be advised that you won't have access to any village chats. The General chat will be your first stop.
As a base user, you won't have access to any other chats than the General chat, and the Readme.
An Admin will have to approve of you, in order to give you access to Village chats.
You'll be granted a single permission usergroup, which will give you access to ALL Village chats.
And don't forget, please, USE IN NC LOGIN name. This makes it easier to recognize you, and approve you being an NC member.

If you are a member of any OOC teams, please contact an Administrator in the chat by using the @mention feature, which allows you to tag certain people or entire groups. (Write "@Admin" and write what other usergroup you're in - Dev, Contract, Council, etc.)

-----------------------

Secondly, and this is the big one.
The Administration team has been in lengthy debate and discussion whether to update to phpbb 3.1
And the final result is that, in order to stay safe on the web, you gotta adapt. And the way to adapt is to update.
And so, that's what we're gonna be doing. The exact date this will be done is not on schedule just yet.
But it will happen soon(tm). You'll get at least a week's time of warning before we do it.

Be advised. All posts remain. Nothing will change with your posts or what you currently own.

The biggest concern we have at the current moment is that at the time of writing this, a Shop extension has not been made.
This results in when we do update to 3.1 (unless a shop extension, utilizing (hopefully, not a requirement) the same database tables pops up suddenly) we're going to have to do WITHOUT a Shop extension.
What does this mean?

Well, we'll have to go back to logging things as they buy them, and manually remove the yen ourselves (this being the admin, and councils) from users as they buy jutsu or the equipment.
Just like we've already been doing with ASP. Just utilizing the Yen extension.
This will be done in Training threads in combination with the ASP purchases.

The items of the shop itself, remains out in the posts, we'll just have to add the prices within the individual posts.

We are looking to get better methods of indexing the items, to create a pseudo shop index for you so you don't have to navigate at least 7 times to reach your desired Jutsu.
As well as price tags on the individual items there.

It'll take a little bit to get used to. But I hope it doesn't ruin everyone.

All in all.
3.1 phpbb is INCOMING!

(This'll also mean goodbye to Subice, Green/purple/blue, and CA Vintage.. But we have a beautiful substitute which'll work wonders. Trust me!)
