Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Karasu had learned a lot since becoming a Jounin. There was still more to learn. Her home was a bit lonely since Jirou and Kashikoi were off on a mission and Hinata well, he disappeared long ago without a trace. Her father was working at his weapons store, so she had the house all to herself. She remembered she had to go see Lady Fifth on her new role that Soku the Main Branch Sennin had assigned her. She was assigned with approval to be in the Diplomat division which recently moved from the ANBU Branch to the Main Branch. Karasu was excited and wondered what Asuka would assign her with first. She locked up the house before setting off to the Hokage’s office. She smiled and waved to the shop owners as she walked past them. Of course they wanted her to stop in and eat but she had to run along and had no time to eat. She felt bad because they really wanted her to spend money in their shops. Karasu figured she would come back later and grab something to eat. She hadn’t had barbeque beef in a long time. That will have to wait till after her visit with the Hokage.

The walk to the Hokage office was always pleasant. Karasu felt grateful for being in such a great village. Nothing like she had grown up with when she was younger. Those memories of surviving and hiding who she was in every village she and her father had gone to are finally pushed back to the back of her mind. It still pops up every now and then but the Leaf Village has wrapped a warm blanket over the bad memories that Karasu rarely entertains them anymore. She thought about the recent knowledge she gained on the Frost in the library. There was still a lot she didn’t know but she wanted to be able to prevent future scenarios. This is why she entered the Diplomat division in the first place. That and how she grew up were influencing her motives on how to change what she could or at least have some effect on political fronts with other nations and villages. She couldn’t wait to get started.

She could see the Hokage’s building in the near distance. Karasu walked with a spring in her step as she approached the big orange building. She didn’t come here often, only when it was important. Karasu wanted to make the most of her visit. She walked up the steps and nodded to the several guards she passed by. She entered the hallway and acknowledged some of the Shinobi that were present. She finally got to the office of the Hokage and knocked on the door hoping that she wasn’t bothering Lady Fifth. The last time she was in here was with Lord Fourth. Karasu remembered the piles of paper stacked so high that it was enough to give Karasu a headache. The work of the Hokage is never finished. She would always keep that in mind. She put her hands behind her back and waited patiently for the invite inside while she was thinking of what she would say.

Asuka looked out the window to the village. Her home. With a smile on her face she took a deep breath. Today was indeed a beautiful day. A day to be productive. She turned around and looked at the stack of papers that littered her desk. Indeed... what a day too be productive. Hearing the giggle next to her she looked to the small, red head girl trying out her own version of her signature glitter bombs. Glitter littered the floor of her past attempts. "Just remember Kairi." Asuka spoke to the girl "It has to be tightly packed but with enough room for the air to expand, bigger boom."

"But how will it blow up?" Kairi asked tilting her head. Yeah the paper work could wait.

"Well." Asuka said going over to the girl, moving her hands through her Kimono taking out on of her own bombs. "The bombs have an air seal inside of them, sending a pulse of chakra will activate that seal and with a small delay the force of said air will break open the bomb sending glitter everywhere!." Asuka took the girls hand as she giggled "So let me teach you how."

Placing the bomb on top of the girls hand Asuka started to send a small amount of chakra to her hand. "You feel that?"

Kairi nodded "Yeah! It feels warm."

"Indeed. That's chakra, it runs throughtout our bodies making it possible for us to do amazing things. Feel your own, and concentrate on sending it to your palm."

Kairi crunched her nose as she concentrated, it took a few minutes before her face relaxed. "I... can't."

With a reasurring smile Asuka patted the girls head. "Yes you can. Think of a river, how the water flows. Same thing with Chakra, imaging a river flowing down your arm towards your hand and up to the bomb."

Kairi took a deep breath as she concentrated. It took a few minutes but the reaction was immediate. The bomb went off, sending glitter everywhere. They both laughed as Asuka congratulated Kairi on her achivement. One day, hopefully she'll be great. She had potential. She just hoped Kairi didn't let it go to waste. Hearing a knock on the door Asuka held in her laugh. "Come in!" She called out.

Karasu stood around in the hallway that was adjacent to the Hokage’s office. She could hear voices inside but couldn’t make out what was being said. The guards that were next to the door stood in military form looking very serious. She would give them a nod of greeting while she waited to be allowed to enter the Hokage office. She heard the familiar voice of Lady Fifth calling out to her to come on it. She turned the knob slowly and saw Lady Fifth at her desk. As usual she expected to see the large pile of paper stacked up ready for the Hokage to look over and sign. Also not a surprise to the young Jounin was the appearance of glitter on the floor and everywhere in the office. Karasu gave a smile toward Lady Fifth then realized the Hokage was not alone.

There was a small girl right next to her which was a surprise. She didn’t expect anyone to be in here with her. She smiled toward the girl. “Hello” she said then looked at the Lady Fifth. “I hope I’m not disturbing you Lady Fifth. I was told to come see you by the Main Branch Sennin. “ She said formally. Karasu walked in further and chuckled while saying. “I see you are hard at work but something tells me this work is way more fun than it should be.” she said as her eyes glanced around at the state of the office with glitter everywhere. “Let me guess Lady Fifth was teaching you one of her signature moves, the glitter bomb.” Karasu moved closer to the desk. “You’re lucky I never learned it so for her to teach you means she probably thinks you’re special.” she said to Kari then turned to Lady Fifth.

“I would love to learn but it may have to be later. In the meantime I wanted to talk to you about the new role I was placed in by Soku. I had a meeting with her on what division I would be placed in. I told her about how I grew up with going from village to village hiding who I was because of the mistrust of the villagers. “ she said, saying a short version of her story. “I mentioned that now that the diplomat division was part of the Main Branch if I can be a part of it, because my goal was always to try to be a bridge for villages and nations to bring peace and understanding with one another. I actually wasn’t expecting Soku to place me in the division It was just a hope but, she did allow me and said that I can help advise you and and learn from and aid Lord Fourth”

Karasu paused for a moment letting Asuka take in all that she said before resuming speaking. “I really like to be of use somehow and will do whatever you ask. I hope you accept me being by your side. You’ll find I’m a fast learner and I am determined to do my best at anything that I do.” she said then stopped talking hoping she didn’t ramble on too much. Sometimes she can do that. She remembered something her mother used to tell her on how she said her little girl was not easily winded when it came to speaking. A small smile came to her as she shook her head to bring her back to the present. She didn’t know what Lady Fifth would say or do. She wasn’t even sure she would be accepted at all. She only hoped that all her work up to this point would show that she was ready, willing and confident to whatever was placed before her.

Asuka quickly glanced as the door opened. Giving a bright smile as she saw her own Jounin Nakano Karasu. She turned her head back towards Kairi as Karasu began to speak. It would be very nice to learn glitter bombs from her, a very good skill that would make any situation a lot happier... or a lot more dangerous depending on the situation. It was nice to someone notice her greatness.

"Hey Karasu again. Asuka is fine, never gotten used to Lady fifth." She spoke looking down at Kairi, still trying to make a glitter bomb, poking her cheek. "Sweetie, say hi."

"Hello!" She smiled as she turned her attention back towards her. "I'm Kairi!" She giggled as she turned back to her art project.

Asuka in the meantime listened to Karasu, holding her hand on her cheek as she watched the girl work. She always liked someone beeing excited about something new. She liked to hear that her sister was doing her job, placing people around to best suit the village and apparently Karasu was suited for the diplomatic branch. Her story, even though shortened, sounded a lot like hers. Not really having a home for a long time, not really belonging anywhere. It felt nice that she wasn't the only one that ended up the way she did.

Unfortunately being a diplomat wasn't as fun as it sounded, vacations weren't in the job descriptions. You had to keep a face and talk with the village in mind, not your own. Reason why she hadn't travelled since she became appointed. Although it would be nice to have a couple days off. Maybe she should. But now her mind was occupied by digesting the words, thinking about them. Karasu's words, her plea to serve her... no... she was asking. Asking for guidance on her new job. Kairi, how she was finally learning to be her own by learning skills passed down through her. Patting her head Asuka smiled. "You know." She said "At first I was terrified of doing this job. Being Hokage the sheer amount of responsibility was almost staggering. That changed when she came into the picture." Asuka bent down and helped Kairi fold her glitter bomb. "This is the scariest thing you can do. What should you do? Will you screw up? Will not enough attention become resentment? But.... I never get tired of this." As the final fold came into fruition Kairi jumped in excitement.

"I did it!" She kept saying jumping around the room.

"Seeing that look in her face.... I never get tired of it." She smiled as Kairi jumped into her arms. Asuka jumping with her in excitement. "You've given me what your job is, but what do you want to do?" Asuka smiled "What is it that you wish to accomplish? We currently live in a peaceful time, we've been doing it for a while. We got allies, friends... peace. So, what do you expect from this? Think about that for a second. While you do, don't be alarmed." Asuka looked at Kairi "You ready?"

Kairi nodded with a smile as they both giggled moving closer to the door. Asuka clicked the button on her headset, making sure it only came out in one channel. Kairi screamed on top of her lungs, like someone in complete distress. "HELP!" She screamed flailing around as if in distress. "Asuka hurt in her office! We need help quick!" They both giggled, Kairi getting her throwing arm ready.

Truth be told, the woman knew what she had been signing up for but that didn't mean she had to like the hordes of responsbilites that grew with every passing second. Signing yet another misson request, the womant leant back in her chair closing her eyes letting out a deep exhale of breathe praying to all the gods above that she could leave today on a good time. At times, Soku pondered whether leaving the ANBU had been a wise career move and always came to the conclusion that she rather preferred not having to worry about whether someone would stab her in her sleep or not, those people were a scary lot as the Sennin stood up clasping her hands behind her back as she stared out the window that overlooked the village.

Her moment of inner peace and serenity was disrupted by her headset shrieking to life that caused her ears to protest in pain as a shrill voice came over the headset, something about Asuka being hurt. Her sister, hurt in her office? It didn't take long to put the puzzle pieces together and without a moment's hesitation, the woman's sword was already out of it's sheath as she took off at a full run carving a beeline for her office door. "Guards!" Her door swung open, the shinobi on duty outside had a stunned expression on his face watching his boss run down the corrdior nearly knocking over a worker in her haste ready to cut down whatever foe had managed to make it so close to the Hokage.

The door to the office of the Hokage splintered open as the Sennin burst in, sword drawn and a terrifying look on her face ready toto dispose of any threats. There was only problem as she looked around, her frown deepening. There was no enemy here and Asuka looked perfectly fine. There was Karasu, Lady Fifth and a small girl which Soku had not seen before posied as if ready to throw something and maybe it was at this moment Soku realized the arm was poised to swing said projectile towards her and she realized in this instant that she had become the victim of a very mean and cruel trap. All those years of shinobi reflexes kicked in as the woman backed up a few inches raising her arms as she attempted to deflect what was going to be a very messy situation. "What exactly-." She sputtered out trying not to get hit by whatever was coming her way.

Karasu smiled at the young girl who’s name was Kairi. “Hello Kairi, nice to meet you. I’m Karasu” she turned to Lady Fifth who insisted that she call her Asuka. Karasu nodded and said “Alright Asuka it is.” she felt a bit weird not being so formal to the Hokage. She knew around important people she would address her as Lady Fifth or Hokage to show respect. The young Jounin waited to hear the response of Asuka after she told her about being in the Diplomat division and her assigned role. Asuka started to tell her how she felt about being Hokage for the first time. All the responsibility was terrifying for her. Karasu understood and listened intently as she went on.

As she was talking Kairi suddenly jumped in excitement exclaiming she did it. Karasu looked and saw that she folded her glitter bomb to almost perfection. “Good job Kairi” Karasu said then turned to Asuka as she continued to speak. The Hokage looked at Karasu and asked her what she wanted to do especially now that they were in peacetime at the present moment. Karasu nodded and thought about what Lady Fifth had said while she moved closer to the door with Kairi. The little girl screamed after Asuka pressed the button of her headset, yelling help at the top of her lungs saying that Asuka was hurt. Karasu's eyes widened then giggled with them knowing that whoever was on the other end of the headset must have heard the scream and call of distress. Karasu wasn’t much of a prankster but she did get a kick out of watching how Asuka was with the little girl. From her view it did seem to her that the girl gave Lady Fifth some kind of joy.

“Yes it’s good to be in peace and have allies, but that doesn’t mean that will always be the case. Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to maintain peace. So I figured to keep that going I can help by doing whatever is necessary. If that means talking with foreign adversaries and allies, mediating any conflicts that may arise or just being a representative of the Leaf to help with future trade and commerce for the Leaf Village, keeping close ties with our allies and making some new ones as well then I will oblige. I don’t mind helping you out with your paperwork though I admit that doesn’t seem like fun at all.“ she chuckled lightly.

While Karasu was answering Asuka’s question she could hear footsteps coming closer to the office as if someone was running very fast, then all of a sudden the door to the Hokage office burst open. Karasu reacted quickly on impulse to the sound behind her and started to reach for her own sword. In front of her was the Main Branch Sennin with her sword in her hand ready to cut someone down to size. Karasu retracted her hand from reaching for her sword and smiled knowing that it was Soku who had been the one who heard the call for help on the headset. Now how was Asuka going to handle this she wondered.

Asuka waited by the door. Looking for it to open, man she hadn't done this in quite a while. Just some fun. Away from the harsh reality of the world. Asuka smiled as she heard Karasu speak, such wisdom yet a mindset so youthful to the realities of what the job entailed. With a sigh she turned her head towards the girl, holding Kairi in her arms. "The price for peace is constant vigilance. Get rid of threats to that peace before they even appear. That's what the ANBU are for. They are the ones who maintain peace. What you're talking about, or rather... the job you want is entirely different." She turned her head back as she remembered what was told to her once. "Remember to surge chakra as soon as you throw it."

"I've never been a fan of politics. Like at all. You have to learn when to strike while constantly watching your own back, it's a never ending game of cat and mouse the question is whether you'll be the cat or the mouse. That's the value you'll have to earn for yourself to benefit the village. You will have to be subtle, smart, learn to ask the proper questions, learn to read peoples intentions without them uttering a single word."
Asuka sighed. "Not my cup of tea. I'd rather tell them to screw off if I don't like it instead of trying to find common ground. People are weird that way. That being said.... you might be right for the job. So. I'll give you your first mission." Asuka smiled. "This way I'll be able to not only test your abilities but your resolve. You're to head to Kumogakure and speak to the Raikage. Convince her to come to Leaf. In the sense I'm thinking of building a motorized vehicle that'll make transport of people and goods easier for both villages. After you've convinced her, head back here with news. If possible be their escort to make it more official." Asuka took a deep breath reading for whoever was coming through the door. "I hope you're ready for it."

Asuka smile widened as she saw her sisters head pop through the door. "NOW!" She yelled. Kairi immediately threw the bomb towards Soku. Asuka to feel the chakra leaving Kairis fingers as the bomb flew a couple of feet away from Soku and exploded. Sending glitter everywhere. Hopefully engulfing Soku.

Both girls burst out laughing at the site. Hugging each other as they jumped around in success of their mission. "Aunt Soku is covered! Prank success!" Kairi yelled out.

"Long time no see Sis." Asuka smiled as she tried holding out a laugh. "How's the Sennin life treating you?"

Soku had been through many trials and tribulations in life. She had seen many things, bore many scars and listended to concepts and ideals that shook her core and tried her very temper. This was one of those times as the glitter rained down upon her her eyes flicking from the Hokage to the little girl then Karasu in that order and repeating once again. She truly regarded Asuka like family, she really did but sometimes, the former Captain wondered how many dangos it would take for the Hokage to start acting like a Hokage as the woman swallowed a few profanites that sprang to her mouth for the sake of the child present. "Well, I'm so happy to see you're perfectly alright though judging from the way you were drowning out every shinobi's ears on the headset, I would disagree." The Sennin said folding her arms covered in all her glittery glory relaxing her stance.

As for the kid, Soku had no flipping idea who she was and the moniker of "Aunt" that was given to her could not bear a good omen especially if it was Asuka who was guiding her. "And who might this young soul be?" The Sennin said tilting her head towards the child, the actual culprit who had thrown the glitter projectile that had resulted in this mess but she could care less. Soku most certainly would not be the one to clean all of this up as she leant against the wall finally acknowledging Karasu's presecene with a smile. "Don't tell me my own Jounin is also starting to think like you, Asuka." A jest at best as she flicked some of the glitter specks towards Asuka.

Still, she knew the woman sat in the desk in front of her wouldn't call her here if it was not vital, prank or no prank. Snagging an emtpy seat, she took a seat next to Karasu pausing for a second to examine it. Devious surprises had been a common omen since she had taken residence next to Asuka's office so she was taking no choices before finally relaxing placing her elbows on the table. It was moreso of a relaxed posture than Soku would take with most authority figures given the fact Soku knew Asuka on a personal basis. She would never dare do such a thing with Takeshi or any other Kage for that matter.

"So, what's up?"

Karasu listened as Asuka responded to her answer on what she wanted to do. She knew that politics was a tricky thing. She didn’t really enjoy it but it was something of a necessity when it comes to talking and keeping the peace. Karasu knew there was more than just talking and she didn’t completely agree with the Hokage that politics didn’t help in keeping the peace. She understood there was the policing and security side of it. That of course was what most Shinobi saw. What wasn’t seen was the ones that don’t necessarily get the credit for aiding in that peace. Negotiations and mediations were tiresome but necessary. She learned that from her dad. Karasu looked at the Hokage as she mentioned to the young Jounin how she had to be smart, subtle and learn to ask the proper questions. Karasu nodded, agreeing with what she had said there.

Karasu felt she was pretty good at reading people. She had to due to her upbringing. With all that she went through when she was younger she felt that it prepared her for her new role now. She understood the cat and mouse game. Lucky for her she loved cats and knew when to show her own claws. “I understand you may not like it. It’s easy to tell them to screw off and just leave it at that. The hardest part of it all is a challenge. Most fail at it but as you said one must know the right things to say and understand body language and so on. It takes a different kind of skill than most Shinobi have. I believe I can do it, of course everything is still a learning curve. I am a fast learner.”

Karasu blinked fast when Asuka told her she was going to assign her to her first diplomatic mission. Karasu straightened up to hear what she had to say. It would be a test of her abilities. The young Jounin was determined to not let Lady Fifth down whatever the mission was going to be. She listened as Asuka started on the details of the mission. Karasu was to head to Kumogakure and speak to the Raikage. Her mission was to convince the Raikage to come to the Leaf Village. Asuka mentioned something about a motorized vehicle. Karasu tilted her head “What? What is this motorized vehicle that you mentioned?” she asked, a bit baffled about what Asuka was going on about.

Before she was able to ask any questions Soku had opened the door and Kairi threw the glitter bomb at the Main Branch Sennin. Karasu laughed as the glitter bomb exploded everywhere. It appeared to Karasu that Soku was quite used to this and wasn’t mad, though was relieved that Asuka was ok. She was interested in the little girl. This must have been the first time that Soku had seen Kairi too. Karasu waved her hand telling Soku that she had nothing to do with the prank. Karasu turned back to Asuka. “So what is the Raikage like and is there anything he or she likes such as certain foods or flowers? I think a small gift to show our sincerity is in order.” she asked Lady Fifth while looking between Soku, Kairi and the Hokage. Karasu wanted the mission to be a success. She figured the Raikage might be harder to persuade than she hoped. She wanted to make sure she had all the info she needed before she approached the Raikage.

The three girls laughed, Kairi and Asuka in particular pretty loud. It had been a while since Asuka had done a successful prank and it still felt as good as ever. They both laughed for a while as the situation set in. She was glad that her sister didn't immediately try to end her, although she thought it was because Kairi was in the way. Cuteness did have its way even among the strongest of Shinobi. Kairi started to hiccup a bit thanks to the laughter inside her. Asuka on the other hand simply carassed the girls cheek a bit. "Well, there wasn't any faster way to get your attention." Asuka answered Soku with a smile on her face. "Besides I wanted you to meet your niece." Asuka lowered Kairi to the ground, as the little girl skipped her little feet towards Soku a big smile on her face.

"Mama says you're grumpy." She spoke "But you look cool! Will you train me some time?!"

"Smart ain't she." Asuka smiled happily as she tapped Kairi on the back. "Allright, need to talk to Aunt Soku for a bit. She'll train you afterwards. Need to talk to her and Karasu here for a bit." Kairi yelled in excitement as she busted through the broken door, which Asuka didn't pay much attention too, and running down the hall leaving the three Shinobi alone. "Found her in the same refrigerator box I used to live in on my self harming trips. Told me 'You miss him don't you?'... I just.... yeah.... couldn't leave someone as cute and smart like that... reminded me of what you, Takeshi, Yuki, Yukio did for me.: Asuka sighed happily "Reminded me of simpler times. Besides, isn't she great! Not even ten and she already can make my glitter bombs." Movign back to her desk as Soku sat down Asuka giggled. "I hope so. Karasu here is a lot more serious, like Takeshi but has that personality flare... I hope she learned that from me."

Asuka moved over to her desk and sat down, taking a deep breath. "As to what I brought you here for. The main part was for you to meet Kairi. Secondly though, I heard of Karasus interest in becoming a diplomat. Which is why I gave her a test. And want your input. I'm gonna send her to cloud to convince the Raikage to come to a meeting here to discuss the possibility to open up a railroad between the two villages. Making trade and tourism easier for both. It won't have negotiating powers but it'll give me, and in retrospect you, a chance to see how she works." Asuka shrugged "She fails, she ends up as a glorified secretary behind a desk the rest of her career. But if she succeeds.... then we might have ourselves a valuable ally." She looked at Karasu "All I know about the Raikage is this. She came into power in dark times for Cloud, even we don't know much about her. Think of it as part off the test. Information gathering."

Many would say that attempting to coat the Main Branch Sennin in glitter was not exactly a very wise career move certainly if you were going to be an aspiring shinobi but then again, children would be children as she glanced down at the girl. "I don't know what lies Asuka has been feeding you but I am the most pleasant person you'll meet here." Her, grumpy, Soku liked to think she was a people person patting the girl on the head. Happy, full of joy and already well-versed in the way of pranks much to her dissappointment watching as the child exited the office in a rather joyous manner and the Sennin could already tell she was going to have her hands full with that one when the time came. Well, no matter, it was not the first time as she returned her attention to the converstation at hand.

She nodded at Asuka's words nodding a bit. "Cloud, huh?" The woman mused. "Last I recall, Takeshi had to jump through quite a few hurdles with them, wasn't exactly the brightest of times." She had only been to Kumogakure once and Soku had found herself taken aback by the design of the village and it's rather elaborate defenses though if you asked her, she preferred the more simplistic thing they had going on in Konohagakure. Her eyes settled on Karasu, this was what the girl had wanted. Diplomacy, fostering those international affairs and the perfect chance presented itself.

"Well, Karasu, what say you? Think you're up for it?" They were getting straight to the good stuff, bandying words with the Raikage was quite the demanding skill but as long as she played her cards right, Soku reckoned she could pull it off. "I don't see why not, gives her a chance to see what the diplomacy life is like. Besides.." Soku added turning her meaningful gaze on the Hokage herself. "I would send her rather than you, you'd probably leave the place a mess with one of your glitter contraptions or whatever."

Karasu watched as Asuka talked to the little girl with what appeared to be a motherly disposition. She never saw Asuka like this but she had to admit that Asuka would be a fun mother. In some ways the playfulness reminded Karasu of her own mother. Her thoughts dwelled into the past before her mother died. There were a lot of fun moments. Her mind came back immediately to the present as Asuka explained how she met Kairi. She never knew how Asuka lived before she was a Shinobi. She understood the struggle of trying to find a place to fit in and be accepted. She found it here in the Leaf and it seems she was not the only one that found their place in the world. This made her admire Asuka even more than before.

Karasu listened as Asuka finally finished talking about how she met Kairi and turned to Soku and Karasu getting down to the main details in hand, which was Karasu and her new role and mission. Lady Fifth told Soku about how she was sending Karasu to the Cloud Village to convince the Raikage to come to a meeting here in the Leaf with Asuka. Lady Fifth mentioned discussing a possible railroad between the two villages. Karasu’s eyes widened thinking that this would mean access to the villages would be so much easier and she nodded listening as Asuka went on telling that it would help trade and tourism. “That’s a great idea. I think this would help all villages. I’m quite excited and hope that the Raikage will feel the same way or at least see the positivity and benefit from it.”

Asuka also mentioned that she wanted to see how Karasu would do in her new role. She knew this was a test and challenge she was willing to take. She wanted to succeed to prove that she could do this. She didn’t want to be some glorified secretary so she would do anything she can to not fail. Soku chimed in on the Cloud. It seemed from her memory that Takeshi had some challenges with them. Karasu took mental notes on what was said. She figured that it would not be an easy task. That means she needed to be careful about what she did and said. That way it won’t cause any mistrust or unease from the Raikage.

She looked up when Soku asked her if she was up for the mission. Karasu glanced between Soku and Asuka with determination in her eyes. “Yes I am up for it. I know it won't be easy but I am ready. Plus I will be heading home well where I grew up. My mom was a cloud ninja for a time until she retired to have a family. She was a Santatru from the Cloud Village. Heck I might have family there too. I was very young so I only have a few memories but some are stronger than others.” she said thinking of the tragic way her mother died. Karasu chuckled when Soku said that she would rather send her than Asuka who would probably mess things up using glitter contraptions. “Well I promise not to use any glitter.” she grinned.

(OOC= So first off, want to apologize profoundly to both of you. Although I do have some explanations never been the one to actually give them since I let both of you down. Sorry for taking a month, I can almost guarantee it won't happen again and if by some demonic power it does I'll let you both know in advance... the whole month long post thing.

*bows*

I am truly sorry.)

"Meh." Asuka spoke leaning back on her chair with a smile on her face. "Giving rather painful zaps at people ain't exactly how I would describe a pleasant person sis." She giggled taking a sip from her tea.

Asuka nodded at Soku, she did remember that time. What a time of unpleasent misunderstandings, lies and chaos. In her eyes, it started at Leaf with the whole missing and kenshin fiasco and spread to cloud. Hopefully the undying disease had ended there "You are quite right. Maki had tried to enter and failed, believe there was a small fiasco between Yuki and Maru... then we tried and failed again. Apparently, from my understanding they are quite reserved which is precisely why I want to do this. Personally, I'm tired of the isolation between villages. I'm even more tired of getting told 'no' so n" She scratched the back of her head to think of her next words, thankfully Soku spoke first.

Her remarks make her hide a laugh under her Kimono. "Glitter is a form of flattery, kind of like a 'Praise be for I have arrived to make your life brighter!'. Besides, shinobi always expect something to be lethal.... I always try and be unexpected hence the glitter. Reactions are fun."

"I indeed hope so too."
Asuka sighed leaning forward for a few moments before speaking. "My predecessors were always concerned with what was going inside, paranoid to the point of turning this whole beautiful thing into a military regime. I on the other hand want people's loyalty based upon their own choices rather than orders." She smiled as she continued. "Of course direct orders are helpful to deal with those inexperienced to actually deal with this whole life we got but personal choices is what matter to me.... and learning from other cultures might help us grown in ways we never thought possible."

"There you go! Take a couple of days to stay with your family and catch up if you can. Rather you not have five minutes otherwise I do believe your mother might... eh.... make me rethink working hours."
She laughed as Karasu continued. Her smile grew bright as ever as Karasu finished speaking. "About that...." Asuka rummaged through her kimono and brought out one of her traditional glitter bombs, a bit bigger than usual. "Since I like to prepare for everything.... your passport is in there." She smiled pointing to the bomb "Now, unfortunately I always like making things fun. Whether I'm there or not. So! Aside from going to Cloud and doing the whole proposal thing you are also ordered to not attempt in any way, shape or form to open my classic glitter bomb. Instead, you are hereby ordered to hand said glitter bomb to the cloud who meets you at their gates and explain that you can't actually show your passport unless they send a small surge of chakra to the glitter bomb in question cause it's actually in there." Asuka tried to keep herself from laughing. "Do let me know how it goes!"

It was settled then. Karasu would be going to the Hidden Cloud to foster a agreement with the Raikage to come to the Hidden Leaf, well, that was if diplomacy went well. She watched rather warily as Asuka handed some sort of item to her jounin shaking her head. It never changed with her, if Asuka could not be there, she would make it a point to send her greetings in some form or fashion. "Just do be mindful, relations are certainly flawed there and I only have so many jounin." She added letting a smile grace her features. One of these days, her and Asuka were going to have a discussion on these little curious contrapions she kept bringing up.

"Just remember, you are representing Konohagakure when you go there so keep that in mind. Have fun but keep on your toes. There are far too many out there who would love nothing more than to see this village fall." These trips were always dangerous, you never knew what you were going to run into but it had to be done. Besides, Karasu was more than capable of handling herself and this was going to be her first diplomatic assignment, the Sennin was keen to see how she would fare. Between Asuka's approval and her good blessings, Soku reckoned it would be all good news, a huge difference from the last time.

"I presume there is nothing else to discuss?" Soku posed in a question turning to Asuka, her eyebrows raised. "Unless of course, this is the part where you tell me you're putting me on babysitting duty for that little prankster of yours which I will most certainly not be doing." Soku barely had time for herself with all the paperwork that kept appearing on her desk, she very much doubted she would be able to look after someone else and the Sennin was sure Asuka knew it too and if she knew Asuka, that was the exact reason why she might attempt to put such a thing on her, a outcome the woman would try to avoid.

Karasu spoke too soon when she said that she promised not to use glitter. Asuka saying glitter was a form of flattery made Karasu raise an eyebrow at the Hokage. Somehow she didn’t think so. She listened as Lady Hokage mentioned that she would prefer having people’s loyalty through choices than any demands or orders. Karasu's heart warmed as she smiled brightly at Asuka. This is one of the reasons why she felt right at home here in the Leaf Village. She felt the love and respect from day one when she first arrived in the village. She had a good relationship with the previous Hokage Lord Fourth and now hearing what Lady Fifth had just said confirmed what she already felt.

“I can say that I truly appreciate how you treat people, Lady Fifth.” she said admirably She nodded when Asuka mentioned that learning from other cultures would help the Leaf grow in ways they never thought of. “Indeed it would, that’s what I like to believe.” she grinned as Karasu listened as Asuka started to tell her to take a couple days off to spend with the family. Something else Karasu caught in the words that the Hokage spoke.

"There you go! Take a couple of days to stay with your family and catch up if you can. Rather you not have five minutes otherwise I do believe your mother might... eh.... make me rethink working hours."

Karasu gulped when she talked about her mother. Her eyes immediately darted down. She knew that the Hokage meant well but she may not have realized that Karasu’s mother was dead. If only her mother was here to worry about her. She would give anything in the world for that. Karasu looked back up and nodded. “Well Lady Fifth I wish that were so, but my mum is no longer walking among this world, but my dad would have a say if I was kept longer.” she said with a smile hoping to not make a big deal on the mistake.

Things happened so fast as Asuka started rummaging through her kimono. She got out a round ball that looked like her glitter bombs but only bigger. Karasu’s eyes got bigger wondering what in the world was Asuka going to do with that. Then she mentioned that it was going to be Karasu’s passport. “MY WHAT!” she said, baffled at the idea of it. “How am I supposed to give this to the Cloud Shinobi at their gates. This will only make them think that I’m up to something or this is a weapon. “ she blew air out her mouth making her hair fly up. “I hope they have a sense of humor. If not, I might not be coming home in one piece or at all.” Asuka didn’t seem to listen as she went on saying it would be fun and that they had to send a surge of chakra to open the glitter bomb. Karasu liked having fun and normally liked Asuka’s pranks and glitter bombs. She just was unsure of how the glitter bomb would be reacted upon by the Cloud.

Karasu took a deep breath and conceded “Alright I hope all goes well and yes I’m sure you will hear everything that happened at their gates. “ she said wryly “If that is all Lady Fifth I will be going and getting ready for the mission. Plus I got some people to say goodbye too. “ She looked to Soku, Kairi then back to Asuka “Have a good day and see you when I get back.” She would start to walk out of the Hokage’s office unless stopped.
