The ringing of the Academy's outer bell was heard and the classes scheduled for the afternoon had ended. Students were pouring out of the Academy with numerous expressions exhibited on their faces as they ran by the great descendant of Byakko who was sitting on a bench outside taking in the beautiful day that had developed and meditating. It had been quite some time since he had been able to meditate or leave his home since the unfortunate accident that occurred with his brother, but his confidence had been growing since then with more and more people close to him accepting him with his new change. Still, he was growing accustomed to people mentioning he was missing an arm or calling him a freak when he wasn't concealing his body which was not often at all. He still dressed the same with a hat on his head and a shroud concealing all of his body when he was in public or medical robes when he was on duty as a medic.

The exact reason for him being at the Academy today was unclear aside from being a little down because he hadn't been working at the Academy or Hospital recently due to a leave he took to adjust to his new body. That time was thankfully ending soon however and soon he would be able to go back to his daily life and enjoy some of the finer things in life again, whatever they were. As of now, he would just continue to meditate concealing his entire body in that shroud mentioned earlier aside from his head which always was visible and showed off his feline-like eyes and ears. These unique ears of his were something that the students loved to comment on and then ask to touch them. Of course, he would let them but tell them to be gentle when they were doing it so they didn't hurt him in the process.

Along with every other child in the academy, Kurai made her way outside. Amongst the rest of the children who were running out of the school, with happy faces, Kurai was one of the few who didnt have such an expression. Her ice blue eyes, just looked forward as she knew that she would have to eventually go back to where she slept. It was common knowledge in the classrooms that she did not go home to anyone and would usually roam the streets on the village until she got extremely tired. Strolling along whilst all the other children were running like a herd of stampeding elephants, Kurai was going to go and sit on the bench that she usually does, however this time there was a man there, just sitting. Approaching this man, she looked at him with intrigued eyes, and for the first time her blue eyes, did not seem icy, as if they were burning a hole into you soul.

The closer she got to the man, the more he seemed familiar. The cat ears protruding from the mans head was something that she had always been curious about since she had seen him around the academy. As she got closer she recalled the times where she saw other people touching his ears, and she too wanted to get a turn. Being her quiet self Kurai, didnt say anything as she approached the man, and just pointed his ears, hoping he would get the gist of her desire.

Normally when someone was meditating, they were in deep thought or concentration meaning most of the outside world was closed off from them as they were trying to control their body's breathing, heart rate, and clear their mind along with many other benefits. However, the days of being able to meditate for extended periods of time and being so involved in it had passed for this feline as he was always needed with something either at home or at one of his jobs. But, he couldn't complain too much considering he was helping out the village and doing fairly well with it based on his rank and the many bright and happy faces that he had seen for saving them, treating them or teaching them. In either case, his meditation was not as well as it had been prior to his accident with his arm, but that was a small price to pay to be closer to your celestial being aka Byakko.

Due to it not being as good as it used to be, he was well aware of his surroundings and could hear footsteps approaching him since he had picked up slightly better hearing since marrying into the Byakko Clan. In fact, it appeared that someone was approaching him and quickly at that but he would wait to see what they would do. Once the footsteps resided, his feline eyes would open and he would see a tiny, blue-eyed individual with dark black hair and red streaks in it pointing towards his ears. He knew all to well what this girl wanted to do, but he would give himself a moment to look over the girl once more before it finally clicking who it was since he had all Academy records of all students past and present and kept a close eye on newer students.

Within those few moments, he would smile gently at the child and scoot over on the bench. He would then tilt his head slightly as he begun to talk giving off a positive, happy tone in his voice as he addressed her: "I know why you are pointing at my ears and you may touch them, but be gentle. My name is Byakko Kyuji of the Byakko Clan and the Medical Chief of the Hospital. And you are Tenshi Kurai if I remember right. It is easy for me to remember you because of the red highlights in your hair. But, go on and touch my ears if you'd like or have a seat beside me." If she chose to touch his ears, she would notice that they were in fact real as his body would react to the touching accordingly. His ears themselves were quite soft to the touch, much like a regular cats were.

Within moments of saying that statement, his feelings changed and he decided to retract the offer. "On second thought, I have to be going unfortunately. But, I am sure that we will see each other around!" He would then rise from his spot and pat the child on the head before proceeding to leave the area and head elsewhere. In all honesty, he wished that he didn't need to go but he had to do what he had to do sadly. Time was of the essence after all and Kyuji didn't have time to sit around and waste anymore of it. He needed to fully regain his mental strength and soon since new evils were probably on foot in their village.
