One of the most underwhelming things Kaori had to suffer was the unimpressive pay of her station -- still in many ways a student, despite having worked her way through the Academy and having graduated from it, she often found herself in the unfortunate circumstance of finding many things she would want to buy with her meager income and sometimes acting on those impulses. More often than not, her purchases would sit in her room unused and forgotten. There were plenty of useless, pretty things in her collection, from stationery to trinkets, clothes to books, toys to decorations... Kaori had just received her latest paycheck and was released for time to spend on a family vacation. She had been told to wait for her siblings in the Suskino District with the promise that one of them would take her to see a show of some kind -- probably something that she'd fall asleep halfway through. However, as soon as Suskino had been mentioned, she had been sold.
Though somewhere between being a young woman and a girl, Kaori had little say in any matters that her mother became involved in -- Mama Kaze had wrestled Kaori into a dress and pulled her hair back in a presentable manner with braids that started at her temples and joined at the back of her head, secured with a band embellished with a little, white, plastic flower. The dress was commonplace, clean and of a simple design, its looseness on her thin frame compensated by a sash tied tightly at the waist, pulling the fabric against her. She had been given a few dabs of lavender perfume -- likely for the sake of her brothers, since she had neglected a shower today and wanted to ensure she had enough time to spend on her own before meeting up with any of them. Whatever embarrassment that had bothered her was gone now, however, as soon as she weaseled her way out of home and off towards the Susukino District -- it was time to go shopping!
As she strolled down the main stretch that would eventually bring her to the plaza, she tapped her lip with a slim finger in deep consideration. What did she need? What did she want? Kaori told herself that she could use a new tin or cup of some kind for her desk, to organize a few small things. The one she had bought last week just didn't seem to sit right, she tried to reason silently. Her stomach rolled on itself, grumbling. Kaori smiled to herself, pleased, as she decided she would most certainly get her brothers to pay for lunch.
