Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Current Ninpocho Chronicles Time:

It was another average morning in the home of the great descendant of Byakko. Almost everyone was still asleep, but he noticed a light shimmering from the crack in his adopted son's bedroom and poked his head in to inform Ura that he wished to talk with him in the training grounds of their home. These training grounds had hosted numerous students and shinobi since the establishment of this side-branch of the Toraono Clan many, many years ago. In more recent times, it had been used to train and test students and shinobi alike in numerous contests from the Genin Exams years ago to helping old friends of the Byakko Clan regain their confidence and knowledge in their skills. One thing was for certain, there was a lot of blood, sweat and tears shed since the descendant of Byakko had arrived and became a part of the clan. After all, these were the same grounds where he had lost his right arm in a fight with his brother and nearly died due to shock and blood-loss. The grounds, much like the rest of the Byakko Estate, was dowsed in pristine and holy white walls and tiles. The ceiling had lightning resembling chandeliers, but they were not lit right now as the morning sun had begun to rise and was illuminating the entire room through the glass artwork and windows that lined the walls.

But, that was the past and today was the present obviously. Today, he would evaluate how Ura had been progressing as a shinobi and allow the late-teen the decision on how they trained. But, he would have to wait till the wolf-like boy appeared first that was gifted to him from a great Okami spirit many moons ago. As he waited, he would sit on his throne that stood many steps above the training ground with his eyes closed and his ears alert for any sounds that were not natural. Soon, he assumed, the teen would arrive and they could begin a fun morning of bonding together over harming one another with their fists, weapons or jutsu. Boy, oh boy, Kyuji could not wait!

Today, the dearest descendant and father of this teenager would be wearing a nice black kimono with an unique pattern in gold. The rest of the adult was concealed, but he was wearing those traditional shinobi sandal-shoes and his one arm was inside of his kimono for whatever reason...he wasn't sure considering it had become a habit when he was wearing a kimono and one that Ura probably picked up on when he was interested in being around his father which was almost never. Regardless, this was the same kimono that he had worn when he was bashing his apprentice's ribs and head in with a kendo stick months earlier. Hopefully, that nasty assault against her wouldn't be occurring again today!

A lazy yawn broke from Urajimiru as he listened to his adoptive-father talk, his right hand covering his mouth and his lids falling for a time over those gunmetal colored eyes. Once again, he was being requested in the training room. It seemed that was the only place that Kyuji liked to talk to him, or rather attempt to put him in his place, and as such who was he to deny such a request? He wasn't about to do just that, but he did consider it. The morning light hadn't entirely come through the painted glass in the halls surrounding his room, and that was what made the wolf-boy hesitate. Nonetheless, he was bored and it was something that could cure that boredom, so long as it wasn't a lecture. So, when his father finished speaking, Ura nodded slowly, his gaze half open, but it was obvious that he would move to the training room when he needed too.

As Kyuji left, Urajimiru sighed softly, his shoulders rising and falling in that breath as it moved through his lungs. Eventually, he pushed himself from where he was seated and to his feet, the movement languid and smooth. His tail swayed gently behind him as he stuffed his hands into his pockets and left, his feet taking him towards where his presence was requested in these pristine halls.

When he arrived, deep crimson ears would tip forward to point towards his adopted father. The older shinobi was seated upon his thrown dressed in a kimono, but that was of little concern to Ura. He wore his typical attire and, carried his shuriken strapped into its holster, as was expected. His scarf however, had been left in his room. He rarely wore that long scrap of cloth when he was home, as everyone here knew what he was and who he was, so it wasn't entirely necessary to hide his features. Not to mention, he had been yelled at on numerous occasions for the fact that he used it to hide the faces he sometimes made at Kyuji.

"So, what's this all about?" He snorted and canted his head to the left, his right eyebrow raising as his features contorted into their typical confident sneer. One of his ears flopped to the side, and the other remained at attention, his tail still swaying behind him even as he finally stopped his movements and stood there.

A few minutes would tick by and the doors that were the entrance to these holy training grounds would be swung open enough to alert the dearest descendant of Byakko of his canine son's presence. At this point normally, the father would arise from his throne and descend to the grounds below him to stand face-to-face with the individuals that he summoned into his chamber for a duel more often than not. But, it would be a little different today as his eyes remained shut as he allowed the boy some time to walk across the grounds closer to him so he didn't need to project his voice so far and he could enjoy some sweet silence for a few more moments before he had to get down to business with one of the teenagers that he had in his house for the time; he had many others due to numerous circumstances in their personal lives and there was almost never any quiet time for him to himself. Every day, it sounded better and better to enter the quiet room in the Hospital if it wasn't down in the hellish, blood-reeking realms known as the Asylum where no shinobi ever came back the same after seeing the poppycock that went down there.

So, it was probably best that he suck it up and just deal with all the teenagers in his home since he did invite them all in to stay in the first place. Still, his generosity would bite him in the arse eventually and he knew damn well that it would; it was only a matter of time after all. As for now, his wolf-like son would eventually stop himself signaling to him to open his feline-like eyes that were glowing a golden hue as Ura questioned why he was summoned with that typical sneer of his face. At this moment, a smirk would appear on Kyuji's face as he looked down at his son and jokingly addressed him to start: "Well, well, well. I am surprised that you actually decided to show up after I called you so quickly and with it being so early too! You must've been up thinking about things or praying to that great Okami spirit of yours."

Then, his tone would turn to a more serious one as he continued staring right at his son as each word left his mouth after a few mere moments. "Ura, you have been a Genin for awhile and you earned that accolade more than many shinobi have before you or will after you. You should take great pride in what you did on that day for your clan and me. However, there is one thing that you have not done yet and will need to prove it to me before I truly will believe that you are ready to tackle this cold and merciless world that we live in. Today, you will become a man by fighting me in combat and proving to me that you are ready for what the world throws at you. It will not be easy so I hope you came prepared to fight."

He would then rise from his throne and begin to descend from his perch above his son and within a few moments be standing directly in front of him. The descendant would stare into the eyes of his son and nod. He knew that Ura was ready to become a man, more than his biological son ever would be. But, he still needed to prove it much like many Genin before him had to prove to Kyuji in combat that they were ready to be that title. He could do this if he would take the training seriously and hopefully he would or he was going to get harmed badly; fortunately, his father was a medic and could attend to his boo-boos if something went completely south and quickly.

After this brief stare-down, his father would shrug his shoulders and emit a chuckle at the boy. It wasn't anything to be taken seriously, but more of a tension-releasing one at that since the atmosphere had gotten dense, not moist, quickly. Once that chuckle calmed itself, Kyuji would speak once more in that serious tone: "I will test you in whatever way that you want. I personally prefer bringing out ninja tools and weapons to use if we want and just having a no-holds barred contest with one another to decide if you are ready. But, I am known for getting a little carried away with that so you best chose for your own sake haha." Sadly, it was true that he was a little notorious in their clan's estate for getting carried away since he did bash his apprentice's skull in numerous times in a kendo match along with breaking ribs and having the young lass bleeding out from numerous areas of her body meaning her mouth and open wounds. It was best if Ura decided so he didn't get a little bit of a mean streak in him like he did months earlier with Aikayume Azusa.

So what would the boy ultimately choose? Fight or flight? No-holds barred or restrictions? Decision, decisions, decisions for the adoptive son of the Byakko Clan.

Urajimiru stood in the center of that gilded and glorified arena, his hands slipping from his pockets as he shrugged at his adopted father. His shoulders rose and fell languidly in that action, expressing the nonchalant attitude that the wolf-boy was known for. "What's it to you, anyway?" He sighed, the sound a rather exasperated one. "Forgot what being young feels like already? Need to get new bones? I can help you with that, I mean... I am a wolf." The redhead shook his head as he chuckled softly, those sanguine hued locks falling before his face in a curtain. When he stopped, a hand dashed up and brushed away the strands that had blocked his view, his metal-grey eyes staring intently at his elder. The shifting of the feeling in the room was palpable, but Ura remained where he was, uncaring towards the seriousness of the situation he was being placed in.

"Tch." Ura's ears snapped up as his tongue clicked against the roof of his mouth at the words that fell from the man he stood before. "Fight an old guy like you?" He burst into laughter, the sound dark and sinister in its own light. It wasn't that he was thinking of actually maiming his adoptive father. If he were honest, he had been waiting for an offer like this, a chance to test himself against one of the few people who's opinions actually held some semblence of importance in the wolf-boy's mind. "You sure you want to do that? You have one arm!" He mocked the older man relentlessly, but this was something to be expected from the teenager. It was just who he was.

Eventually, he calmed, that creepy laugh subsiding as he wiped his eyes with the back of a hand. "How is it fair? Besides, I know how you do things... After all, I have seen the aftermath on countless occasions, have I not? I mean, didn't you make me clean this place on my hands and knees more than a few times?" His soft and fiery looking tail wagged behind him in his amusement, even as he stepped around his father. He knew full well that the descendant of Byakko was more than enough of a match for him. He knew that there was a high chance that he was about to get his rump handed to him on a silver platter. However, such knowledge never stopped him before, and it wouldn't stop him now. That was something that would get him into trouble someday, but today was not that day.

He waved his hand in a flippant nature, brushing away the warnings that he was given. Kyuji knew well what Ura was like, and no manner of warning would stop him from testing his own limits. "Since when do I not come prepared to fight?" As he spoke, his words clipped and cocky, he reached back to where his weapon rested in its holster. "Why don't we just have fun with it then? Hm? What's say you father?" His head canted to the side once more as he lowered his frame, his upper lip peeling back in a wolfish snarl, his ears standing straight, and his tail stilling to curl upwards in an aggressive motion.

"C'mon. Let's make this a test!"

The simple smirk on the grin of the Byakko fellow would grow as he listened to his son's interesting response to his speech. The kid had certainly grown since he first came here over a decade from a scared, little boy to a respectable, quick-witted, and sarcastic teenager who would eventually serve the village and his family quite well. It was one thing to be like Kyuji's biological son who could grasp things quickly and excel in the Academy, but there was a particular kind of respect geared towards Ura since he wasn't as bright as Yanjirou was. However, he worked his ass off practicing his techniques and putting in additional time to study so that he graduated from the Academy near the top and proved his worth to his father. He also hadn't left his parents behind while he went on a journey and had them worried about you since you never wrote to them. Yes, Ura was looking better and better to Kyuji every day while Yanjirou was disappearing into the darkness. Kudos to Ura for staying around and helping his family who adopted him after his biological parents were murdered and a great Okami brought him to the steps of his now father.

Back back to the present, it was impressive the amount of confidence that was spewing from the wolf-boy's lips. They both obviously knew that Kyuji would probably whoop his ass in this sparring session, but Ura wasn't backing down which was something to say about someone who was so different from everyone around him. However, they were both very similar with traits gifted to them from their respective beings that guided them to where they were today. Maybe, just maybe Ura would actually give him a little bit of a challenge; more than the Genin that came before him like Kagari, Azusa, and Ayame. It was a surprise that Kyuji was actually looking forward to this fight, but he knew that his son probably had some tricks up his sleeve especially with that fold-able shuriken...but he had some as well.

For now, he would shrug his shoulders at Ura as his eyes would shift to the ones gifted to him from Lord Byakko which were a beautiful purple with three tomoe. It wasn't time to go to the more advanced eyes just yet, he needed to see what Ura could do with these against him first before he showcased more of his skills. Once his eyes shifted, his smirk would disappear and be replaced with a more serious look as he addressed him: "Very well, Ura. Don't go crying to Yanshi or your sister when I kick your ass, alright? As for your little taunts, they are adorable but I will not be fazed by trash-talking. Besides, I think this fight is more fair with me only having one arm! So, here I come!"

He would dash straight at the boy after his last words escaped his mouth dropping a smoke bomb to conceal his location to the boy as he closed in on his target. As he was getting close, he would whip out the sword that he had been hiding under his kimono. It was a shiny, new katana that was itching for some blood to be spilled by it! It was hungry and it wanted wolf ass this morning! If Ura didn't watch it, this match would be over quickly and there would be two very disappointed individuals in this room, one of which would probably be somewhat depressed that his son failed him. But, that hopefully wouldn't happen right!?

As for the descendant himself, he had heated up his body to avoid any direct contact from the boy just by chance that he decided he was going to try to duke it out with Kyuji. One direct hit to Kyuji or from him with his fists would burn the boy badly and he would probably have to go cry to Yanshi to put some water on it or freeze it till the boo-boo was healed! This was one of his notorious moves that he used in numerous altercations that he had gotten into which one was fighting his brother and it had done its damage slowly but strategically. He knew what he was doing, he was no rookie.

'So.. It seems like he's not going to be playing games...' Urajimiru shook his head at his adoptive father and merely snorted at him as his brow furrowed and cast a deep shadow over his metal hued eyes. 'Tch. It won't matter... I can play this.' Certainly, Kyuji had an idea of what the redheaded wolf-boy was thinking, cockiness had it's own flaws and that was an easily read front that he would somehow be able to pull this off. He had to think that, if he didn't there would just be no reason for him to fight, no reason for him to even attempt to prove his worth yet again to the man before him. Then again, it wasn't the first time Ura had seen those eyes, but he knew there was more to them than the simple stage they were on. No, if he wanted to have his father get serious, then he had to play along and actually make an attempt to do something. "Ha! C'mon old man. You can't keep up, even with those eyes. You know it!" The teen called out in a haughty tone, he still stood in that crouched position, his tail now wagging in a rushed and snapping motion behind him. His ears had pinned against his head, and yet that same sneering snarl remained.

Even as his elder dashed for him, the smoke bomb obscuring his whereabouts, Ura was swift in reaction and yanked the folded shuriken from its holster. He left it folded, for now it would be a good defensive tool, and it proved to be just that when the clang of steel on steel rang out. Luckily, the redhead had been able to block that first slash meeting the outer flat side of his own weapon. "Tch! Really? You're going to use that old trick? Seriously, aren't I worth more than that!?" This was Ura in a perfect box, the jest and jibes, goading of his opponent, they were all things that he did. Win or lose, he had a mouth on him and he used it. Nonetheless, he leapt backwards in a clean flip. As he did flew through a set of hand signs rapidly and when he landed he threw a small ball of fire at his father, not caring if the embers burned him or not. Then again, he had some idea of what would affect the older man, and fire was probably not one of those things. Regardless, he had to do something.

A split second after the little flame was tossed, Ura was on the move again, this time zigzagging around the older man and eventually snapping his weapon into its unlocked stage, the four blades spinning into place within moments. With a loud clang the weapon was once again locked into place and it was then thrown at his opponent. Of course, there was little he could do with just that, and as such the wolf-boy was quick to take a deep breath and when he exhaled he let loose another small burst of fire to attempt to distract his elder. "Can't keep up yet can you?! I told you to bring it didn't I?! What are you doing, enjoying your afternoon nap, you cat!?"

"Is that all you can do, Ura? I certainly hope not," his adoptive father would speak as he saw the area lit up in a fiery blaze as the large shuriken sailed in the area striking the ground near the steps where his throne was sitting. When the boy would stop his attack, he would notice that his father was standing a few feet behind him and that he had been attacking a basic kawarimi target to the point where the target was scorched and battered from the attack. Hell, the target was cut in half due to the mere force of the shuriken's momentum when it glided in the air. Still, Kyuji was impressed that the boy blocked his attack with his sword easily, but that was a simple attack that even a mere student could do with a little practice. However, the boy still had not demonstrated that he was ready to call himself a true shinobi as it should have been so simple to see through a basic strategy like that. Oh well, this is how you learned the hard way in the "Byakko Dungeon."

The battlefield would be cleared of the initial smoke bomb allowing them both to see clearly once again. Thank goodness for that since it had been hard for even the descendant of Byakko to be able to see well enough to strike. The childish strategy was over and it was time to actually get a little serious since the Okami follower was starting to take it a little more seriously it appeared. Maybe, just maybe, he knew that fucking off would not be a good thing to do with his father who outmatched him in strength, knowledge, and strategy along with years of experience. Let's hope this appearance wasn't a lie as it was time to move again.

Within moments of speaking, the descendant had dropped his sword to the ground and already had used one-handed seals to manifest the shadow that his son had following him. But, it wasn't time to play with the shadows quite yet as he picked up his sword and threw it at his son in an attempt to fake him out while his true attack came behind him; The real attack was a huge, solid golem that slowly walked towards him to try to swing and knock him down and a feline-like creature covered in lightning that ran much quicker than the golem that tried to crash right into the wolf-child. As for the descendant himself, he was combining two of his more stronger jutsu together to create a beautiful twin dragon attack condensed of a fire one and a water one that rushed towards the boy behind the lightning feline hoping to take him out quickly and allow the golem to deal the final blow.

While all of this was occurring, the descendant of Byakko would do a quick handseal to make himself invisible as he waited for all of his destruction to take its toll on the boy. He realized that he probably wouldn't be able to take Ura down with all of it since the boy was not a moron by any means. But, the boy would have to choose what he was going to try to dodge, block and fight against as there was so much chaos around him that there was no way a mere mortal child would be able to handle it all. Then again, he was gifted to Kyuji from a great Okami spirit so maybe there were some tricks up his little sleeves that he hadn't shown yet. Of course, Kyuji was enjoying this as he always did when he sparred people because he liked to show off all of his fun little tricks and surprises.

Okay, so it was definitely time to get serious, well to a point. Ura knew as much as his shuriken sliced clear through the kawarimi that had replaced Kyuji, and what was left of the target was incinerated to a pile of ash. He snorted and chuckled softly, the sound hosting a sinister air as his gunmetal eyes cast their attention to where his father reappeared nearby. "You really think that's it, old man!?" Those crimson ears shot upwards in amusement as he cackled out and shook his head, his hair casting a shadowy curtain before his own gaze, even as a malicious sneer twisted the corners of his lips. "You know better than that." The wolf-child hadn't made it this far in life from sheer dumb luck. It was years of hard training and dedication, sure his wits had saved him on more than one occasion, but he knew better than to take his adoptive parent lightly and he also knew that he wasn't to be taken as such either. He had his own tricks, certainly.

With a flick of that lupine tail, Ura was in motion again, dashing to yank his shuriken from where it was embedded into the floor. It was an obvious move, of that he knew, but even so he needed that weapon back. The hulking metal star was one of his few defensive items, and it was really the only one that could take a chance blow from his father's sword. Sure, he could dart around and leave targets in his wake, but there was little chance of that succeeding beyond running for his life. No, that wasn't something he did. Running wasn't in his nature, it wasn't in the blood that coursed through his veins. Even as he made that mad run towards his weapon, the Byakko descendant was swift to use the skills at his disposal, and the first set Urajimiru's shadow to manifest from the ground behind him. 'Shit.' The boy was far from stupid and knew that this particular sort of thing was not, by any means, good. His ears tucked sharply against his head as he dropped to a knee and slid passed his weapon, a hand snatching out swiftly and ripping it from the ground as he went by.

Once the shuriken was in his grasp again, he righted himself and changed directions, gaining his feet in a quick movement. As he did, that lightning cat bounded after him, pouncing just as he moved away. Luckily, that missed him by a hair, the fur upon his tail tingling from the surge of electricity. His eyes went wide for an instant as they searched for his father, which alas, was an almost impossible task as he had far too many things in front of him to manage at the time. With a growl he continued to do his best to evade that lightning cat, as well as the golem that slowly followed him, unaware it would seem to the potential danger that was about to blast him in the form of twin dragons. There wasn't much he could do against this, and without being able to find the source with Kyuji having vanished, he had to do his best to find a way out. His last resort was what his father had started with, a simple switch, and at the last moment possible that is exactly what he did.

Alas, that was only against the electric feline and the golem, the dragons had shifted towards him once again, and Ura furrowed his brow. As his expression shifted from playful to annoyed, his upper lip peeled back and a low snarl pulled from him. 'Damn it!' He shook his head and made up his mind. He could dodge those, but doing so would most likely place him in the line of fire of the golem or Kyuji himself, that was the truth of it. Amongst everything else coming for him once more, his shadow being able to take damage, and Kyuji vanished, this was going to be a hell of a fight for the teen. Steeling himself, he used whatever agility was left in him and managed to roll out of the way at the last moment, only to place himself at the mercy of the golem. With a clench of his jaw, Ura looked up at the gigantic hulking creation and prepared himself for what was to come. He was going to get pummeled, that was obvious.

If there was one thing for certain, business was picking up quickly as Ura was fighting practically for his life against his adoptive father right now. It was true that the wolf-like teen had been able to evade his numerous attacks from his lightning cat to his twin dragons and even his golem. But, the teen had gotten himself into a situation that he certainly did not want to be in as the colossal giant stood above him ready to pummel him into the ground; that is exactly what the golem would do as its arms rose above its head and began to come down towards the wolf-boy. This little canine had better figure out what he was going to do or Rocky was going to continually slam his rock arms into the boy until the descendant of Byakko either stopped the attack by cancelling his chakra or Ura managed to evade a strike enough to counterattack.

In either case, the dragons and the lightning creation would subside and disappear from the battlefield. Yet, his father was still nowhere to be found visibly and Ura was probably too focused on not dying to notice that his father had ascended to his throne again. The descendant of Byakko literally was sitting in his throne watching his adoptive son trying to fend off the golem. It was certainly an interesting sight to behold as the golem was not one of his strongest creations by any means, but it certainly could hold off weaker adversaries as it had done numerous times in the past especially the last Genin Exam that he had proctored where three intelligent, tactical, and strategic individuals had been able to successfully pass. They certainly saw a golem like this in their examination and had been able to defeat it after some careful calculations together, but they also were all gifted individuals much like Ura and Kyuji were; two were "blessed" with gifts from different parties and one just could not feel pain at all. But that was the past...

But to the here and now, the descendant would continue to watch what was going on below him to see if Ura would be knocked out, give up or manage to get out of his pickle that he was in. The boy had certainly improved since he had joined the Byakko Family years ago in his mind, spirit and body; but was it enough for now? Sure, he had passed in the Academy with above average grades and he had definitely deserved his headband for retrieving something for his dad. But, was it sheer luck that had gotten him here or was he truly special and really blessed by this Okami spirit that had brought him here years ago.

The descendant of Byakko assumed it was true with the kid's Okami spirit, but he had yet to prove it to his father. Hopefully, the kid would show him something here so they didn't have to end their spar so quickly with one another. After all, his father was just getting excited!

After a brief, few moments, everything stopped on the field and disappeared from sight leaving the descendant of Byakko alone with his adopted son. He would simply look at the boy with a shake of his head as he began to address him: "I am disappointed, Ura. I assumed that you had gotten stronger than you were, but this is all that you can offer me in a fight? This is a huge disappointment. You need to train more and come back when you are ready to truly fight me like a man and not a boy. I am leaving."

He would then descend from his throne walking right by his "son" and out of the room to do important matters that needed his attention like helping the medics in the infirmary come up with a cure for that zombie virus that Azusa and himself had. He also had paperwork to do for the Hospital and the Academy or he could spend some time with his daughter since he had neglected her a little recently due to being so busy in his life. There was one thing for sure, he didn't feel like he wasted his time but he knew that Ura could've done better than he did and that was what truly disappointed the descendant of Byakko. Hopefully, the kid would grow up and train hard to prove to himself and his "father" that he wasn't a little boy anymore and was rightfully a man.

But anyways, Kyuji would just go elsewhere in his house letting the boy alone to ponder about the day and what had happened.
