Overview
One of the aspects of customization on NC involves abilities. Every single character has access to abilities, and these form the backbone of your character alongside your Bloodline or Core Ability. Like those and unlike jutsu, abilities do not cost yen in the shop. However, you are limited to a number of abilities based on rank.
Abilities Per Rank
E-Rank: 2
D-Rank: 4
C-Rank: 6
B-Rank: 8
A-Rank/S-Rank: 10
This is not counting Kinjutsu ability reduction, Core Ability or Bloodline free abilities or ability addition, class bonus abilities, or anything else that affects the total. In addition, the branch abilities Medical Knowledge, Shadow Tactics, and Shinobi 101 never take up a slot and do not require an RP.
Gaining Abilities
In order to gain an ability, you must first meet its prerequisites, which are listed in each individual ability. Then you post a 100 word RP in your dojo of how your character learned it, with a link to your profile. A council member will be around to approve it. That's it!
Note that for speedy approval, list what you have in regards to any prerequisites the ability might have. For example, if the ability requires you to have five Genjutsu mastered, say how many Genjutsu you have mastered and link to your jutsu post in your profile if you have one.
Unlearning Abilities
Sometimes you'll want to unlearn abilities, due to them being not a fit for your character anymore, not what you thought they were, or just out of plain old build changing. That's doable too. There are two ways to unlearn abilities you've learned.
The first is to simply make a post saying you are unlearning whatever abilities you wish to forget. However, if you do this, you cannot learn any new abilities where the old ones used to be for one week from your post. (If you have spare ability slots when unlearning, you may still use those within the week.)
The second is to include a 300+ word RP per each ability you're unlearning. This allows you to learn new abilities right away over where the old ones used to be.
Abilities can be found here for normal abilities and here for styles.
