Character History:
As a child, Katsumi lived with his two parents and older brother in Leaf territory, somewhere far from the main village. It was a little cottage close to a river and surrounded by trees. Secluded as anyone could hope for. Suffering from severe mental abuse from his mother and sometimes physical from his father, it all hit a boiling point when his mother stabbed his older brother Kennuchi several times as he was just entering the door. Traumatized at seeing his beloved brother murdered, Katsumi could do nothing but obey his mother at all costs. The very next night, as he feared, she tried to murder him as well, as he slept. That was when he discovered his Uchiha abilities, in direct threat of death.
Barely managing to make it out of the house alive, he stumbled in a single direction until he collapsed from blood loss and exhaustion. He'd performed first aid on himself. having been taught by his brother since getting hurt was a normal occurrence in the house. A small boy had almost stepped on him during a walk in the woods and took him back to his house to get him treated. When Katsumi woke in the strange environment, he had a panic attack and fled without even meeting his rescuers. Fleeing once more, except in a much better state, he found himself in Mist, who accepted him in.
Katsumi began training to become a shinobi. He felt safe in such a place, shrouded in Mist and far from his home. The reminders of his life back home, scars across his body, but most prominently across his throat, never let him become too grounded however. He had met people in this village he loved to call home, who just came and went. Some he'd told his story to, some he did not. Nobody ever stuck around him for long, and this sent him into a rather harsh mental state. Did everyone despise him because of the scars? It was the first thing they saw and asked about for sure... Was he too shy to make a good impression? What was it?
Making a decision, he knew that he wanted to protect the one place that protected him, more than anything. He signed up to become an ANBU and soon had hidden his identity under the traditional ANBU mask. Both his interrogator and himself were unsure if he could make it in such a brutal place. Wouldn't it be better to be a medic? Or perhaps just the main branch? Maybe...but something was definitely calling to him in the ANBU corps. He stuck with it. And it seemed like he was noticed... Katsumi was approached by a man who was clearly much stronger than him. It didn't take long for him to have received a complete and utter beating, for really...no apparent reason. As Katsumi was trapped, the man declared that he was his and just captured him. Just like that...he was taken and locked up, and it was like hell on earth once more. What in the world was wrong with him? Why did he have to suffer like this again? Gaining the man known as Koroki's trust...he was finally allowed to leave that hell. He always knew he was being watched and was never surprised when Koroki would just randomly show up. He wasn't even surprised to see him running his ANBU exam!
Which he passes. He earned the rank of ANBU w/ Tenure, finally able to prove his skills. He hid more and more behind his mask and became a true shadow of Mist. He loved it. He was rather good at it. He enjoyed being a shadow and living two lives. One he could easily hide behind, and the other...just himself. No one knew him and no one seemed to care. Katsumi finally felt free. The months stretched into years of hard training and he excelled at the sword. It was his weapon. Never did he leave without it. It was like he'd placed a piece of his soul into it. Katsumi was determined to learn every technique there was. Slowly...he even renounced his Uchiha blood. He'd hated the curse. How it connected him to his old life. The sharingan was nothing but filth to him, and had always been from the start. So much so, that he'd gotten Koroki to just remove them altogether, replace them with normal eyes that wouldn't plague him every time he looked at himself. He could remember when he awoke from the surgery, feeling like a massive weight had been lifted. The world felt right. He could concentrate on his true passion of Taijutsu and Genjutsu and leave his cursed blood behind.
