Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Kitsune was sitting in her old office in the hospital, doing a ton of paperwork that had accumulated during her day off. It was tedious work, but it had to be done, and someone had to do it. The skies outside were grey and dull looking, but at least it wasn’t raining or anything. So there was that. She still wasn’t comfortable with the thought of using Daisuke’s old office, so she just used her own. Despite her new rank, she didn’t expect anyone to treat her differently. Yet they did. Suppose that was natural considering that she was now their boss.

Imagine that. Working for a woman who was nobility, had died once, and had received training from not one but two previous Sennin. Lots of weird things had happened to Kitsune over the past few months’ time. She had met giant humanoid tigers, she’d seen a gigantic floating island, she’d met with a puppeteer from Konoha… The list went on and on. But today it seemed like nothing exciting would happen. Which was fine, sure. But really, paperwork was dull as heck. Okay. I’ll finish this pile, then go get a light snack.

Who knows what was about to happen soon? Maybe a young kid would come looking for her? Maybe nothing?

Re: All work and no break makes Kitsune go nuts. Maybe [Priv

Hito took her Kitsune up on her offer to meet her at the hospital sometime later, from their last meet. So, since today he didn't have anything going on, he felt like he'd give her a drop by and check on her. Walking in the hospital double doors, Hito looked around. All of a sudden, he would remember he had never been in a hospital to actually LOOK for someone, other than to visit that one class he had went to here before. Looking around, he found a medical nin, and asked for Kitsune personally. "Where is Shinyra Kitsune? Look for her, and tell her Hito is looking for her."

[OOC: The "puppeteer" said hi! lol]

Re: All work and no break makes Kitsune go nuts. Maybe [Priv

The mednin that Hito had asked gave him the directions to find Kitsunes office rather than going to tell Kitsune. Doctors are busy people, and seeing as it was a short walk from where Hito was, he might as well just go himself. Incidently, as Hito was walking towards the office, Kitsune was coming out of it and was headed for the cafeteria which was located half a wing away. And to get to it she’d have to go past where Hito was. Seems like they were destined to bump into each other at least once today.

[OOC: I know. :p]

Re: All work and no break makes Kitsune go nuts. Maybe [Priv

As he walked towards where the office he had been told about, it was only coincidence, maybe, that Kitsune herself walked out and was making her way towards him. "Well then, seems I've found you. You told me to seek you out, since we never finished our conversation. How are you today, Obasan?" He seemed to tell she was headed elsewhere within the hospital, so he turned to follow along in her stride to where they might be.

Re: All work and no break makes Kitsune go nuts. Maybe [Priv

Kitsunes right eye twitched a bit at Hito calling her ”obasan”. She wasn’t that old, dammit. ”I’m not that old, Hito-kun. Get it right.” she said and continued walking towards the cafeteria. When they arrived there, Kitsune sat down at her usual table, the biggest one present, and basically had the staff there bring her ‘one of everything’, while also telling them to let Hito have whatever he liked. ”My treat this time.” she explained and grinned. ”So, Hito-kun. I assume you’ve been thinking about the subject we discussed last time we met, am I correct?”

While listening to his answer, she had a carafe of sparkling mineral water brought down to the table. She poured a glass for herself and left the carafe in the middle of the table so Hito could grab a glass if he so desired. ”A thought occurred. What’ve you been up to since we last met? Surely you’ve experienced something exciting?” she asked him, and hoped to get a story about what he had been up to.

"Aye I have, o-ba-san" he drew out the word as a tease. As they came to the cafeteria, and she offered to pay for his food, he thanked her and grabbed a plate and began to fill it full of all the meat he could fit on it. A growing boy needed all the protein he could get right? "I've come to find out more about our subject of discussion, and to see the benefit of being in such a family clan. And, since our last visit, I've started in the Genin Exam. And you?" He took a big bite out of a big breakfast meat and chewed silently.

Re: All work and no break makes Kitsune go nuts. Maybe [Priv

”Well. Hito-kun. The immediate advantage is actually having a family.” Kitsune said and gave a slight shrug ”Oh? A genin exam, eh? You seem like the kind of kid that’d breeze through that easily. I expect great things from you, Hito-kun.” she added and winked at him. Hopefully he would be instilled a sense of duty from becoming a genin. And who knows, maybe him meeting Akira Saito would help further that.
”To return to the topic at hand. What would you like to know about the clan?” she asked and looked at the kid. ”Feel free to ask about anything that comes to mind, okay?”

Kitsune wolfed down a few more forkfuls of food before going on to answer his question ”Well. I got a promotion.” she said ”I’ve got people packing things up and moving them to my new office right as we speak.” she continued before withdrawing a pin from her inner pocket. It was a whitegold caduceus staff with lightning bolts rather than snakes, and thunderbird wings rather than regular wings. It symbolized her new status as the Sennin ”This is the symbol of my new rank. As Sennin of the Medical branch.” she explained before putting it back into her inner pocket. She wasn’t going to wear it until the office was ready for her.

Re: All work and no break makes Kitsune go nuts. Maybe [Priv

"The exam is combat. My first fight was against a byakugan user. It went according to plan, being as I had studied their Hutus and eyes a bit before the exam. My mext fight is against a hashigaki. We'll see how that one goes." He rubbed his face, reached for a glass of water, and took a sip. he looked up as she expressed her interest in him having to do great things. He raised an eyebrow as she also asked him about his questions of the clan information. As she spoke of her recent accomplishments, he only listened and nodded his head. That's what he wanted to hear. A family that strive to advance. He didn't care for wealth, for people to attend him and his needs. He didn't care for people handling his business or the lack of estates. He just wanted a family.

"Yes I have one question.." He gave it some thought. A few seconds went by. A few minutes. In the silence, his mind has been thinking of a way to word the question until he just asked it in a forward manner.

"How do I join YOUR clan, Kitsune-sama? I wish... To join yours."

Re: All work and no break makes Kitsune go nuts. Maybe [Priv

Kitsune nodded as Hito explained about his genin exam. Hopefully it would go well for him. ”Well, I do hope you’ll pass it. I have a feeling you’ll do big things in the future~. Perhaps, with the proper training, you might even become a Sennin.” she said and smiled. Then, once he broke the silence after saying that he had a question, Kitsune was surprised to hear what it was. He wanted to join the Shinrya Clan. ”Well. There’s a few ways you can go about doing that. There’s the marriage method, where you’d marry into the clan. Then there’s the adoption method, where someone in the clan adopts you. And finally there’s also the trial by fire.”

She paused for a few seconds and looked at Hito, gauging his reaction to the information he had just been given. Then she continued: ”I assume I don’t have to explain methods one and two, so I’ll go straight to explaining the trial by fire. You join the clan, and undergo a test once every month. If you fail three of them, you’re out. If you pass all twelve, you become a fully-fledged member of the clan. Unfortunately, I can’t go into detail about the tests themselves, but they get more difficult. Gradually. So there’s something to look forward to, I suppose.”

Re: All work and no break makes Kitsune go nuts. Maybe [Priv

Hito smiled when she said that he'd be doing big things in the future. Who knew? He wanted to become the strongest warrior the village had, and it was his plan to make that happen. Somehow, he'd make it happen. And then, as she mentioned that he might one day become Sennin, he thought about that. What exactly would he do to become Sennin? The only way he could become Sennin was if he stuck around the ANBU that he aimed to become. But first, he'd have to become a full-fledged member of the ANBU...

As she had answered his question about wanting to join her clan, she gave him things to think about. Was he really ready to have a family to call his own? Was he ready to take on the responsibility of being in a family? He was too young to marry, he knew that much. That part was out of the question, being as he was only thirteen years old. Some families might have done that, but Hito wasn't just quite ready for that, nor did he think he was old nor mature enough for marriage. He shuddered at that thought for a moment. As for adoption, Hito felt the usual "he's adopted" sting. He didn't want to be the one known for being adopted. To him, it felt as if being adopted was a shameful act. But, he knew there were kids just like him - kids abandoned just like him - that would love the opportunity to be adoted into a family; into a clan. Lastly, she mentioned the trials. Trials by fire, huh? That sparked his interest. If he failed three of twelve trials, he didn't deserve to belong with the family anyways - or so he felt. Twelve trials.... That meant one per month, which also meant he'd have to stay prepared for each one.

That gave him reason to want to join Kitsune's clan even more. Trial by Fire..... I like it, but can I do it? Do I deserve to be her family member? Do I deserve to be with a family, who will accept me? ....Am I really so willing to be bound by clan laws, and have people who know nothing about me... accept me? The thought stayed in his head, as the minutes passed. He was thinking long and hard on what to say, and what to do about her answer. Taking a deep breath in, he stopped and paused for a second, to finalize his thoughts and put them into action. "I will do trial by fire. I will not be shamed with adoption, and be shamed with the title of adopted. I am too young to marry into your family, as well. That leaves me with trial by fire. With the trial, I will be able to learn and earn my place within your clan; as well as show everyone what real ambition is. I will teach your clan what it is like to come from nothing to something so great, it leaves you speechless and wanting. It makes you feel wanted, and loved.... Something so many like me do not feel...Kitsune-san, I accept the trial if you so allow it." He had a very determined look on his face, one you might see on a skilled swordsman concentrating on his enemy; fighting for his life. Hito was fighting for life.. A life with friends and family; with loved ones.

Kitsune looked at Hito, awaiting his response to the question she had posed him. It seemed as if he was thinking long and hard about it, until he finally opened his mouth and said that he’d do the trial by fire. ”An appropriate choice, Hito-kun. It suits you, you know.” she said with a smile and nodded ”Alright. Your choice is made. The trials will be held on the first day of every month, and upon completing the twelfth trial, you’ll become a fully-fledged member. The first trial is a simple one. It’s an endurance test, and I’m sure you’ll pass it with flying colors. As we are a shinobi family, the first test will be enduring a week in the wilds with no supplies or comforts except what nature can provide you.”

She grinned a bit ”It’s an easy task for a shinobi. And again, I’m expecting great things from you Hito-kun.” she’d say before bringing out a map of her province. A little region was circled on it ”This is the area in which you have to survive for a week. There’s likely plenty options for shelter, water and food. You’ll be given a flare, so that if you get in life threatening trouble, you just pop it and help will be there shortly. Keep in mind though, that once used, it counts as a failure.” she explained and then looked at Hito again, wanting to see his reaction to all of this. Knowing him, he’d grin at the opportunity to prove how kickass he was.

"First day of every month huh? No problem. All twelve will be done, and passed. I guarantee it. As for the first trial, I will start it at the beginning of the month. I will leave you a note on your gate with a simple sign, to let you know I have left to perform these trials." Hito took a napkin, and asked a passing nurse for a utensil for writing. As she handed him the pencil, he drew on the napkin a image on it.

"I'll leave it on the gate, as I said. Now... What do i call you...? What are you now, as a family member..?" This confused Hito, but as soon as it would be cleared up, he'd be fine.

Hito got up, laid the napkin at her hand, and stretched. He took another sip of water, and sat back down. "Now.. The trial... I know of this area, actually. I was living in this area before I ever joined the village. I raised myself in this same area, until I found the village and the academy. I will do this trial, and show you where I lived, if you will come with me? I lived in the side of a hollowed out rock, and made it where only I knew where the entrance was. I set up a water line from the nearby river to bring a steady stream right outside the rock, and carved out an opening for it to drain into the cave, down into another hollowed out area, to make a pool or bath. As for the food... Needless to say, I can survive alone, in the bleakest of environments."

Kitsune nodded, confirming that the tests would indeed be on the first day of the month, for twelve months. ”Ah, but as a trial clan member, you’d be living in the second guest house in the clan compound here in Kumo.” Kitsune said, looking at the symbol on the napkin. ”That’s one artistically drawn mark. Your own creation?” she asked and looked at Hito, curious to learn more about the design. It seemed as if it could have been a cursed seal in its dormant state with how it looked. She was no stranger to seals, having two of her own, but it seemed like the drawing was just that. A drawing.

”Upon your graduation into being a full clan member you’d be offered a room in the main building, though.” she said, before answering his question about what Kitsune would be to him. ”I suppose older sister, considering the lack of blood relation.” she pointed out before Hito explained about where he had been living before he became a shinobi. ”Huh… Maybe this isn’t just a coincidence then. I mean, you living off my lands, and then potentially joining my clan. It could be fate, Hito-kun~” she pondered with a light smile.

She looked at the kid and then said ”And sure, I don’t mind accompanying you out there when the first comes around~” Kitsune had gotten curious about how he had lived prior to everything Kumo.

Re: All work and no break makes Kitsune go nuts. Maybe [Priv

"Second guest house, huh? Fair enough, being as I've only been sleeping outside my whole life anyways. Might be good for a change, to sleep indoors..." He thought about living inside, and wondered if it was more comfy than sleeping wherever else he had been sleeping. But, at the same time, he had protection from the elements... Which, to humans in general, was always a plus. "Yea, some design I saw a while back somewhere... Not sure where, but it stuck out enough for me to remember it."

As she spoke of "graduating" into becoming a full member, and being offered a place in the main building, Hito raised an eyebrow, and furrowed the other. A main building and a few guest houses huh? Seems the clan had a long line of people wanting to serve or join.. "Oneesan, eh?" Hito took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Blod relation or not, you are now oneesan. And as for where I had been living... I suppose. I don't believe in fate, oneesan."

As she said she didn't mind coming along with him to see where he had been staying at previously, he nodded. Very nice, now she might now understand more about him - and he about her... That's what families did, right?

Re: All work and no break makes Kitsune go nuts. Maybe [Priv

”You should know, trials also bear the clan name, but it would be stripped upon failure of the trials” Kitsune said, explaining a bit further about the customs ”Also, if there’s anything you need, if your bed is too soft, if you need new clothes, anything, just let me, or my staff know. We’ll get you sorted out. I’d be happy to go clothes shopping with you as well.” she added as she got up.

She looked at the kid and smiled ”For now though, there’s work to be done.” she said and nodded ”I’ve got a gigantic pile of paperwork just waiting for me to go through it.” she added with a sigh. It wasn’t that Kitsune didn’t love her job, she really did. However the amount of paperwork was staggering.

Re: All work and no break makes Kitsune go nuts. Maybe [Priv

Hito nodded at his name change. He didn't mind it. "Alright, so I will be Shinrya Hito. My pleasure. As for my comfort level for living... I like firm things, so maybe if I could have those over something soft?" She did say 'anything he needed', so he looked down and thought for a second; "clothes...? I suppose we could go. I don't own much. All in all, I believe that is all I require since you offered." Looking back up, he gave a small smile and chuckled. The boy was happy he could have a family; a real family.

As Kitsune suggested that she had to leave, Hito got up and bowed to her, humbled. "Thank you, oneesan. For taking me in. I..." He remained bowed to hide his face, and a few tears on his cheeks.

Re: All work and no break makes Kitsune go nuts. Maybe [Priv

”Oh sure. I can have your beds mattress replaced with a firm one by the time you get home” she said with a smile before reaching to her headset, switching the channel to her home frequency, and informing one of her maids to get it done. ”Alright then, we’ll go clothes shopping after I’m done with work then.” she said and nodded.

Then Hito bowed and thanked her, Kitsune shook her head slightly and stepped over to stand in front of the kid, wrapping her arms around him, and hugging him tightly. ”Shh… Don’t worry about it Hito. Now then, as mentioned, I’ve got a lot of paperwork. But I should be done in a few hours. I’ll see you then, okay?” she said to him and rustled his hair a bit before heading off to her office.

Re: All work and no break makes Kitsune go nuts. Maybe [Priv

Nodding that all was according to how he had asked, Hito nodded and smiled. "Very cool. A nice firm bed would be awesome. Thank you, Kitsune-kun!" Now for their clothes shopping later, Hito had some ideas of what he would wear, but he was sure that she would have her own ideas of what was presentable to others, and what was not. But that was fine, Hito had to become more civil after all right? It wasn't like he could stay a wild, undomesticated person forever; or could he?

Taking note of the time, he figured she'd have a few more hours at work, which gave him plenty of time to go about his own daily affairs, and enough time to run a few errands and go speak to his Saito-sensei. As he had bowed and spoke, he felt her arms wrap around him and comfort him. What a wonderful feeling, he thought, to have something... No, someone.. To care for you. "Good luck with your paperwork. I will see you after work then, oneesan." As he spoke his sentence, she rustled his hair and went back to work. Now that she was leaving, he took a sip of water, and went off on his own business for the day; which would probably include some sort of trouble somewhere in the village... But, who could tell with such a young wild child?

As they both walked their separate ways, Hito had his own headset that he pulled out to use for the first time; into which he turned to the proper channel, so she could hear him, and whispered "thank you." Before turning it off and putting it away again.
