Fascinating people, these men and women of 'Crater City.' There was always something interesting, something new to encounter when in a new place. There were some things that did not change, they never did. Men were still selfish and greedy, those in power were often bullies. There were a few that broke the mold, those were the people she found exceptional of course. Those were the ones that she wished to study. It was a shame that she did not have the time, her presence here would be fleeting but perhaps one day she would return. A sketchbook pinned against her chest she hurried through the streets. She was a mousy little thing, easy to miss. Her kind were always easy to miss. It was not her job to be remembered, it was her job to be forgotten. She was a watcher of all things terrestrial from the vegetation, to the architecture to the culture to the food and the people. A lot could be said about a person when they are placed in a position of power. When they have the ability to do something without seeming consequence. That was what this was, she tightened her grip on the notebook she carried. On this day it carried particularly precious cargo, beyond her memories transcribed onto paper it held an announcement made by one of her many benefactors. This demonstration would change the world and she knew it. For one person they would be labeled 'the strongest' and with that would come the prestige of being 'the best' as well as the hubris or humility. She wondered what sort of men or women Kohonagakure would send and what sort of person would win. Would this victory heighten paranoia, create a divide between the great hidden villages or would this be a symptom of cooperation and peace as humanity finds a proxy for their disagreements.
She always assumed the later. People, as far as she has witnessed as inherently evil, selfish and entitled. She believed that Kohona would be interested in participating but that their arrogance would get in the way of true human progress. Perhaps progress was utter destruction. It was a fair consideration and it was something she, like many always wondered -- if this world did indeed come to an end what would come wiggling from the mire? Many feel it would be some sort of Otogakurian, there were unsubstantiated rumors concerning their mortality that have led some to wonder if they were indeed the next step in human evolution. That those with shinobi powers, unlike herself, were simply future's missing link much like the cap between primates and mankind. It was a concerning but also thrilling prospect.
All in all, she had never been to Kohona before but she had hear rumors about the people there. If only half the stories were true, this would be a fascinating encounter.
