How long had it been since she had decided to leave the comfort she found in the solitude of her chambers? Until now she had never, not once even considered the necessity of searching companionship. Her father was all she required, the only person she longed to have at her side. Perhaps it was her childish naivety, but the past interactions she had with the villagers had not exactly left a good impression on her mind. If it was up to her, then the village could have been swept away into the eternal sands of the desert, as long as her father remained. But the words spoken by her mother during the awakening of her latent power lingered in the deepest recesses of her mind: Sometimes power wasn't enough, sometimes an obstacle was impossible for just one person to overcome. Did this mean she had to find allies in a village that alienated her and considered her a dangerous entity, that if not for her father's influence would have long been slain?
It was a difficult something to grasp for the child, the concept of working together with a village that in her eyes had not once tried to understand her. A village that took her mother away, and forced this burden upon her family. If not for the village then maybe her mother would have never needed to become the vessel for Kousotsu, and then perhaps she would have been able to experience the joy of having known her mother... Still, despite all the justified reasons for being angry the child couldn't even muster the will to throw a tantrum, opting for a simple sigh as she rested her back against the stone wall of the empty corridor she was wandering along.
"I wonder why my parents care so much for the village, despite the fact I only seem to be able to associate them with regrets and suffering."
What brought forth such loyalty? Usually, loyalty came for a reason, a mercenary their loyalty might have been gained through wealth, a follower through deeds and a Toraono's loyalty was to their family. At least she couldn't ever imagine being willing to make a sacrifice like the one her ancestors did unless it was for the sake of her family. Perhaps that was why she had decided to leave her room and search for her father within the dojo. The eyes of the girl, who ever since the awakening of her power adopted the same rippled pattern that her father did had been gazing absently toward the ceiling when a sudden buzz made her snap back to reality.
"Right~ Right~ I didn't forget, we were on our way to find my father. But what is making you all so restless?"
While to others it might have looked at first if Reikiko was talking to herself, a closer look would have actually revealed a cloud of insects, around the size of a tennis ball, were floating before her. It took only a moment before the swarm buzzed aloud and started to fly toward the exit of the corridor, making Reikiko quickly pursue them while waving a hand toward them.
"Hold up a moment! Kousotsu tell them to stop being so hyperactive!"
But even her plea to the Sandwyrm remained unanswered, and instead the moment she reached the exit of the corridor and arrived in the section where the Byakko household dwelled the girl spotted the swarm having turned into a large, almost cartoonish representation of an arrow that pointed down from above a man's head, a man that was slightly familiar to her.
"Uncle Kyu?"
Her voice was a bit shaky, perhaps sounding uncertain and nervous as she waited to hear a response from the man.
