Finding the same teacher as before and pulling out a longer blade got a sigh from the man before he just laughed it off, ”I take it you’re not done yet with training the basics or lesson plans?” he inquired before Kamaru explained he still had a ways to go he believed before he fully understood the basics which didn’t just pertain to weapon use. The discussion of using someone else’s lesson plans came up but in truth Kamaru wouldn’t have the firsthand knowledge which the man agreed would be in truth needed if one is teaching others. The man joked Kamaru might have just liked to ability to practice almost killing someone. Kamaru’s face grew dark explaining he didn’t think anyone should enjoy killing someone but sometimes it was a necessity of the job it was also not what the class was about. The man eyed the usually laid back man after his response. His eyes looked dead and all too serious. It was the look of someone who had blood on his hands. He seemed quite serious to the man so the topic was dismissed with a knowing nod. The purpose of the class and training was to refine one’s skill and learn not train would be murderers but killers if necessary.
With the hiccup pushed to the side the two focused on training. Kamaru looked at the man who didn’t take off his jacket this time. Inquiry on if he needed a ‘real’ weapon if Kamaru was going to use a real blade were dismissed. The kendo sword supposedly was going to be enough. The man explained he wasn’t trying to be cocky or knock Kamaru for his novice skill level he explained he really was that good he simply stated and that since it was for training he really didn’t want to get too serious. Kamaru could tell he wasn’t joking when his first slash was remarked as ok before it was deflected and Kamaru blinked feeling the kendo sword tapping his shoulder. It was in truth just a tap, without padding Kamaru probably would have had a bruise if he had seriously hit him, worse probably if it went to the make fighting fully to his capabilities.
Kamaru wasn’t use to defending in combat usually resorting to sneak attacks and ambushes. Attacking and defending with a weapon was a new concept for him to a point. He had already left the paperwork for the course to the man during lunch so this training session solely focused on beating the basics into Kamaru. As time went on the man gave him tips on how to conserve energy. Kamaru was using a shorter blade which was easier to conceal but at the same time reduced his reach. He needed to apply more agile footwork to press through the longer reach of his opponent’s weapon. This time around Kamaru did notice the man was smiling and in the midst of the spare he asked the man about it. It oddly enough didn’t leave the man open to anything really as he spoke though much to Kamaru’s chargrin. He enjoyed what he did and he was passionate about it. It was nice he thought to find someone wanting to find out more about something and trying to improve themselves, which was why he requested to be assigned to teaching for a bit. If he ever had a case of wanderlust he explained he could always finish up classes and request a transfer again if need be. Kamaru felt in a way he was playing around with a caged beast while they sparred, it was nice to know the man had a calm side though. That meant he had control.
