Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Ever since the Bandits of the Spine were taken out Airi had been a much more proactive Anbu in training. She had now gone to the record and reports section and started looking up data…she left the village to scout for herself…she even used her new skills Otani-san had taught her to go to local areas to pick up information. All of this was being done to better manage a problem she was facing personally. See the Anbu thought that she was doing all this to rid the area of Bandits which was not really incorrect…but mainly due to the fact that the last bandit leader she had met simply said that they knew her name and that she and her family were now a target of the true main Bandit Commander. To keep her family safe…she either needed to route them all quickly or at the very least find this leader and remove him. She needed to delete herself from the Bandit’s information…it was her stupid mistake in doing a return mission not as Nineteen but as Airi. She needed to make this right before something terrible happened.

When Airi approached and submitted her own request for a B-rank mission to the Rolling Hills of Kumo she was met with a few questions. “Nineteen…why do you think there is a Bandit Hideout in the Rolling Hills? We have nothing to support on claims of attacks.” She figured that the trainer knew why she selected it…she was not smarter than her superiors. “I believe they are not attacking there because that is one of their supply holding locations. From the information for Deo and the Spine I think it makes sense. They do not wish for our eyes to go there so they do nothing wrong. Therefore I think the place is very important…plus…the Rolling Hills partially connect a lot of the places I have been sent out to. The river ways make it easy for them to transport good.” The trainer put down the scroll and while she could not see it she secretly hoped there was a smile behind what he declared, “Okay Nineteen follow your hunch if you find Bandits bring back proof and we call it a mission successful. You only need to gather intelligence. If this place is a big of a deal as you believe there might be missing shinobi inside. Caution will be your greatest weapon here. Airi bowed to the trainer and then left without much more ceremony. Not needing anything else to motivate her to find them.

The concept of fighting another shinobi never really bothered Airi until she might come and face it. Needless to say Airi felt like she might be…somewhere within Chuunin level of strength…obviously excluding those who were super powerful in comparison. Still this also meant there was still a super large margin of shinobi who could throw her to the floor. She had done a little shinobi sparring but nothing that was high enough to really…go at each other. As such nervous excitement came over her in anticipation to actually fight another shinobi…a very weird concept for her.

The Rolling Hills were a mix of plains and wetland in her opinion. Depending on the powerful storms on Thunder Mountain it could be anywhere from mildly pleasant to deadly. Airi took her time visit smaller villages…going to bars…following people she thought were slightly suspicious. It took her days of this with no leads until she finally caught wind of something. Using her crystal eye throughout the countryside she finally saw movement through the darkness. She had been climbing various tall hills and staking them out during the nights since nothing would ever happen during the day for illegal activity. As she caught them though she wished she had Oatni’s sharingan so she could see better.

As she watched them they went into the mouth of a small cave with no lights. Airi could only smirk. “It might as well be behind a water fall.” Knowing the location of what she believed to be the place now she just needed to wait till midday when it would be less likely to be busy. As such Airi decided to head back to a nearby village and rest. As she got back to her room in the Inn she felt like something was off. On her way through town everything seemed fine but the shop owner himself seemed to be awfully nervous. She had asked if anything was wrong but he quickly dismissed it saying that he was just tired and anxious about the bills this month. Airi had decided to tip him a little extra and when she did the man just seemed to look even worse. It might have just been because of the mask though…when she walked around town people did give her looks. Doing Anbu business though she could not leave her mask off and have more Bandits find out about her involvement.

As Airi made her way around the room she set up a few trip wires. She was not the best at it but she was a bit more of a sound sleeper…a habit she broke to some degree but would never quick be fully cured of. With that out of the way she tucked herself in and went to sleep.

She startled awake to the sound of someone tripping over her ninja wire. She launched out of the bed and jumped from the ceiling down onto the man kicking him hard in the face. After that she quickly multi-punched him and then finished with an uppercut before he collapsed to the ground. As she looked to the man she saw the dagger…somehow she knew…maybe one of the citizens? She had been careless once again. She walked over to the man and took in a deep breath. She broke his neck quickly feeling the pop and snap. As she let her breath out she prayed to Raiden to guide him to hell. As she stood up the started to notice the world going blurry. Since Airi had never before been drunk before this was a very new experience…

As she stumbled she checked to see if she qas poisoned…alas though she felt like she was fine at least on the front…plus she did not get hit. As she looked she saw someone entered her room quickly…his hand in the form of seals. As Airi fell against the wall she said, “Gen…jutsu…” Nozomi had wanred her to learn some to protect herself. She was weaker than some academy students at genjutsu and it showed. The man pulled out a sword and charged at her…she had seen Momotaru use this technique before…this guy was an academy level shinobi…she would be able to crush him quickly in a fair duel…but this was the real world. Otani was right…I need to learn…

As she tried to move she stumbled over her own feet, part genjutsu part clumsiness and the blade cut her along her chest. She felt the searing pain and kicked out hitting something but not hard enough. As she made delirious hand seals she did not feel the pleasant warmth of chakra against her skin…something was wrong. She needed to escape…but the only thing she saw was the shinning of the blade in the moon before she lost consciousness.

Airi woke up on a bed in a place she did not remember. As her eyes blinked open she got up slowly…the damage on her chest was gone…was it a dream. Yet she could feel her clothing cut and stained with blood. As to that point…”Why are there…so many…” The room was littered with bodies. She looked to be in some kind of cave…as she looked at the bed she noticed notes all around her…different encampments for the bandits. Had she…done this while asleep?

Airi collected the notes but something felt really wrong. Despite sleeping she was incredibly tired…had she opened a lot of gates while she was asleep? Airi quickly checked for anything additional she would want and left before she would be found with the bodies. She did not have her mask and she worried someone would have seen her. After all she had no idea if there were any survivors.

As Airi made her way through the town she never did see the Inn Keeper again…as she made her around she eventually started to hear a bunch of stories of something called Shadow Fox…a being in the night said to kill men who wander the nearby hills. Apparently it was some kind of angry spirit mad about all the land being taken by larger cities …Airi had a suspicion that the Shadow Fox was really what she did last night…what made her wonder more was…why did they give her that specific name?

Airi returned to Kumo not feeling any better. The Anbu trainer mentioned that while it was a successful job and the intelligence she got was very well done…the fact she killed and charged a base with no information was foolish and she would be punished for that. Airi could only nod and agree with her superior. She did not inform him about her blacking out and doing it. Anbu had a very strict mental health screening and if she was killing in her sleep…well she could imagine that it would not end well with her.

That night she did not sleep very much…brief thoughts and images of what really happened that night were flowing through her mind. None of it made any sense but she knew without a doubt that whatever the villagers thought she was…she might actually be.
