Name: Bushibana Shinrei
Age: 13
Gender: Female
Sex: Female
Rank: Academy Student
General Description: Standing a bit short, even for her age, Shinrei rests at just over four foot five inches in height. Her light blue hair tends to be styled haphazardly down to her shoulders, but she occasionally has it pulled back or up in a cloth cap of varying colors. When not forced into the standard military attire at the academy, her outfits tend to be fluffy, poofy or otherwise impractical for the life of a shinobi. Her eyes are a faded red color, almost looking to be a light brown, depending on the ambient light, a trait that is only further accentuated by the pale tone of her skin.
Typically, Shinrei has an outgoing and bubbly demeanor. While rarely a serious child, her recent time in Cloud's academy has added a sharp and cold edge to her that certainly did not exist prior to her admission. She tends to act out for attention or notice, often swinging back and forth between excellence and negligence in her academy training and her home life. She will often attempt to impress those around her, but if those efforts seem to fall short, a complete disinterest in anything related to doing such quickly replaces her prior determined demeanor.
History: Born to Inari, a kunoichi of modest renown, Shinrei has lived a relatively prosperous life, at least compared to the rank and file citizenry of the village. Her father was never a part of her life, but it was a hole that she rarely ever missed, as her mother was omni-present for the first eight years of her life. While her mother was not dishonorably discharged from service, her pregnancy and injuries relegated her to inactive duty, leaving her to serve the village in small ways while receiving only a meager wage for her efforts. When Inari was assigned a new task, watching over a young boy with fox-like traits, it served as her new primary duty to the village. When this outsider came into their lives, her mother almost lost all desire to pay her daughter any attention and instead she slowly slipped back to old indulgences with her newfound coin.
Despite her mother's best efforts, Shinrei has shown little aptitude or capability for chakra manipulation or the shinobi arts. When change came over the country, as an abundance of those with the potential began to flourish and flood in from across the country, Shinrei finally began to flourish. With the dampeners that had been spread across the country removed, she had finally shown at least some potential for chakra manipulation but it was not enough for entrance into the academy. For a short while, her mother actually oversaw both the fox boy and Shinrei's training, though she was not the most capable of teacher.
During one training outing, her mother had left them behind outside the village to continue while she returned to the village to forget herself for a while at her favorite bar. On their way back to the village, her and the foster fox boy had been attacked by a crazed stranger with red eyes, sharp claws and sharper teeth. The details were fuzzy to her, but in the end she managed to protect her foster brother, though received a serious injury as a result. Luckily a patrol from the village came across the end of the scuffle and after dispatching the man, took the boy and his unconscious sister back to the village to recover.
Her recovery was miraculously fast, given the severity of the wounds she had been inflicted. By what seemed a twist of fate, a bloodline trait from what must have been her unknown father's side, had seemed to aid in her recovery, as the sclera of her eyes took on a faint reddish hue that faded as her recovery neared its end within a few short days. The details of the incident were still very confusing to her, most of it lost in a blur, but she knew the basics. Some stranger had attacked her and her brother, he had saved them both and now they were both suddenly being admitted to the academy.
Such news had received praise from her mother, much to Shinrei's delight, who had been paid in accordance with her daughter's acceptance into the academy. That attention was short lived, however, and little time had passed before she was once again relegated to taking care of her brother Kyo, her house, her training and her own mother, on the adult's more self-indulgent evenings. So with her time split between all her responsibilities and her lack of innate talent, even with the removal of the artificial dampener, she was put on a difficult road ahead. Just surviving through the rigors of the village's academy would be tough, but she would endure and push through it, trying to keep her fraying ends from coming apart at the seams as she either succeeded in making herself something that her mother could finally be proud of or to die in the struggle.
[Applying for Chigokai. WC is >800. Submitting name change request in the appropriate board to Shinrei upon acceptance. This character account was previously used for an alternate character submission that didn't go through due to lack of authority from some other players to provide consent for content use. Since that character never actually got made, I am putting this in character creation, rather than OCR.]
