Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

In the afternoon a small figure walked towards a post-bill.. She started to place a paper upon the bill and removed herself from the position, using an active camo used often by the ANBU persons... Yet this tiny figure probably didn't need to do such thing as she was never noticed before.
"Hello, thank you first for reading this far... you probably are interested in the rest as well... I will tell you it will be something amazing, an amazing class... but a rather curious one also... Please, do make your way to the fields, just outside the city... There I will be waiting around the time the moon is at it's highest point... Are you still interested in what you might be learning?
Do come... and do watch the stars."

There was... nothing else written, only the time and location... a slight hint perhaps on what they would be able to learn in this class... But the words were placed in riddles.

On the fields, that late... was indeed someone already up and standing... a bird as big as the small figure beside... and the small figure was dressed in a cape... Not being able to see the sex or village at all... She was used to hostile movements and made sure she had her defenses ready, hence why the contract was summoned in the first place.
The figure seemed to be scribbling in a small notebook... and the text among it was enormous.
How to find the zodiac constellations: You can’t actually see the constellation that the sun is currently “passing” though, because it’s basically behind the sun, and thus obscured by it. But you can see the zodiac constellations nearby.

In late May, the easiest sign to see will be Virgo. You can find it by following the curve of the handle of the Big Dipper until you see an orange star, which is Arcturus in the constellation Bootes. Keep following the curve and you arrive at Spica, the brightest star in Virgo. If you can see a Y-shaped pattern of stars, you’ve found it.

The pen was placed down and the small figure started to look up, motionless it stood up and removed the hoodie still hanging over her head. "Ohaio..." She said with a voice deformer active. She wanted to remain hidden with her identity... Not wanting others to know who she was in fact, the daughter of the Konoharu Hokage, heir of the Uchiha Clan. "Let's wait till those who still need to join..." she spoke towards the first contestant.

Spoken language. and then this is thoughts going by her.

What was this about getting lost in Tea? The last thing that the Hyuuga boy remembered was that he exited his hotel room that sweet morning, brushed his teeth and everything, then decided to take a look at the stores and places around. It was a small break from the tournament that happened here, but uh… neither Ikko or Eishi - heck, not Shiro either - none of them had woken up yet. He took his time passing by each room to check on who was wake enough for an adventure… as sophisticated as he was, he wanted a little enjoyment as that young, lively boy he was.

Tea was a true farming nation, because their plots and farming lands were visible from here. From Hon’s window, he could spot the fields and their square patterns with different colors miles away. “Hmh… ah, I almost forgot,” he reminded himself as he darted towards his shelf. Pulling it open, he picked up what looked like a pair of wrist bracers - his Carpal Blades - and equipped it on both hands. Anything could happen… if someone were to assault him on the way (young, small, helpless boy out alone in the big, bad city… you know, that kind of issues), then he would be able to protect himself.

His eyes suddenly stopped upon a post bill as he had walked what felt like several miles. His eyes, which never lost its shine - unless if he was near death, of course - thoroughly scanned the context of the paper on the bill. “Hello… amazing class… field… outside the city… the moon is at… okay,” he mumbled, then looked up at the skies. There was a class coming up tonight when the moon reached its highest… but it was, like, noon. He would have to wait out here.

Tick, tock, tick, tock…

After finally seeing the moon have its move approached its highest point, he darted towards the meeting place. It was at the fields, and at this time, all the workers had gone back home… except a single - no - two figures standing out on the fields, sheltered by the screen of the night.

In this darkness, it was rather easy to notice the shining glances of Hon’s Hakumei Byakugan. He would approach the two figures slowly, holding up a hand and greet: “H-Hi, there… I think I read your paper… uhh, you know, class? Here?” Man… the stars above him were pretty. He could see them without even turning his head…

Chewing on a pockey stick with all the disinterest of a teenager reflected in her eyes, the two-tailed kitsune eyed the letter on the board. She had taken a glimpse of the child that had attached to the board but the timing had been off. Aside from confirming a small posture she had not been able to catch much more than that. No matter, in her current mood, which was a mixture of a desire to whine and rant in total boredom and a mean streak of random vehemence for no apparent reasons, the kitsune was at first not quite of a mind to bother with stars. But what else did she have to do here in Tea? Sulk around without any purpose? Brooding on the demise of Darkness? Well, not the worst of suggestions, perhaps, but not exactly the most positive foresights either. This girl needed some fun and as an onmyouji she had always had a fascination for stars and astrology.

So it was that the two-tails white brat made her way to the fields. A place she had only found with the help of directions given by locals since she was originally from Sunagakure herself. Her desert coloured kosode was partially covered by a long, blue skirt that barely hid the shinobi sandals underneath it. On top of that simple attire, a vibrant purple haori 'protected' her against the nipping cold of the coming night. Not that she really needed that. The foxfire and her katon affinity were more than sufficient to keep her comfortably warm, but she liked to have her dress style complete. Naturally, the pride of her clan, the two fox ears and two tails to be more precisely, would be flaunted without regret despite the risk it often brought. The white of her ears perking up from a cascading grace of white hair which reached just a little over halfway her back, the white tails covering the lower section until halfway her legs along with the blue and purple made her fit in with the whole 'midnight' atmosphere that would allow to see the stars in the middle of the open fields.

Upon arriving, there were already a few others present. A small figure with a voice that didn't seem to do her petite posture any credit would greet them with an 'Ohaio'. The other person seemed unsure about themselves, or maybe shy? It was a little hard to say, but when she was close enough that she could practically tacklehug the people around her she did notice his unusual eyes. Like two full moon saucers in the night. For a moment, Misaki would blink, caught by curiosity before she would realise that she had yet to greet them.

"Good eve, and blessings of Inari. I'm Misaki Aikayume, are you here for class as well?", the kitsune spoke with her usual lilting voice despite not quite yet having succeeded at pulling herself out of today's bored mood.

"Akuma! It's an akuma!"

A young girl screamed in horror as she ran away screaming to anyone who would heed her warning. Kano, on the other hand, was holding an apple, confused and hurt at the young child's words as he picked up her dropped fruit to give it back to her. It was an unfortunate circumstance, one that often happened to him due to his general appearance. He wore a tank top, slight stains of blood on him from hunting meat for dinner earlier with a pair of black shorts and comfortable shoes. Often he would forget to change his clothing as he often had such stains on him. His entire body wrapped in bandages, his unequally and different colored eyes only added to his menacing appearance. He was genuinely hurt the child feared him so much, he was trying to be helpful.

Sighing lightly, he gently placed the fruit on a ledge as he decided he should leave the area before more misunderstandings took place. Reading the note in his other hand, he made his way to the allotted time and location. Arriving on the scene, it seemed others were already there. He hoped to make friends today; however most people assumed him to be villainous and treated him as such. He wondered upon introducing himself to the others, yet his social awkwardness took control and him instead shyly looked away avoiding contact with them. His expression seemed to be one of sulking or arrogance though he was nervous and fidgeting at the situation at hand.

Looking down at his shirt, he noticed the blood stains on him. He forgot to change! He appeared as if he was a serial killer of some sort, a character straight out of a horror story of some sort. He was off to a terrible start already. Perhaps no one would notice?

Asuka yawned as she looked at the paper once again. Who had actually summoned her? Well, it must've been someone important if they had found where she was. Asuka teleported outside of the town and decided to walk the rest of the way. With a sigh her feet started to move. She had more important things to do so she if she concluded that this was a waste of time she would leave whatever this was.

She saw the meeting point and figured the people already there came for the same reason. But that's when Asuka saw her. With a clinch of her teeth she stopped a few meters away. Not wanting to draw any attention. Why? Why was she here? Her hands curled around into fists. Her eyes seemed as though they were going through a lot of different emotions.

Asuka pinched her nose and looked around before deciding her next move. She was wary of the guy covered in blood obviously, who knows who he was. The other boy seemed to talk with a hint of being nervous but being a Shinobi she knew she could not let her guard down. Only the gods knew how this event? Was it an event? Asuka looked over the note again, class... it was a class. Only the gods knew how this class would end.

She took one deep breath and walked closer, ignoring the people already there, slowly sitting down next to the caped girl. She sighed giving her one heck of a look. "Asuka." She introduced herself without giving anything else.

One by one they were coming closer... The female smirking under her mask. She had specially dressed her up so that no one knew it was her... Perhaps her family which joined as for last... Under her mask, she raised an eyebrow... Was she really being like that?
She went over each one again, nodding to each of them and to the one that gave her the blessing, she gave a small bow. She herself, had only read about that in the ANBU library back in Konoha... Knowing a lot for her age she never let that stop her, maybe until a time where she would be kindly reminded she was a child. The bird beside the small figure stretched its wings and Kotori patted it once more.
"Thank you all for joining up." There was no underlying noise in her voiced former she was using, and finally looking up there was an ANBU mask being shown under the hood as she let the light shine on it now. "I want to teach you something... Since you all know, how to get back home on daylight... does any of you know more about astrology??" A smirk formed and she stood up once more, placing her hands behind her back, leaning a bit more to the forward position and letting out in her figure a playful stance.
"How many of you do actually know how to find their way back from here... Please do look up, is there a star, maybe more? That you actually know from back there or do they all look the same?" After they would have answered that question she would go further.

"There are many stars in the sky. Please find a spot if you want to lay down, if needed I will go with all of you over it... So that one day... you all can get your way back home..." She herself says down and watched her contract... she nodded and her contract formed itself back to a small version and placed itself back on the shadow of Kotori, always watching this way. "Now that I think about it... I haven't yet introduced myself... Tinīsutā." She spoke and it was obviously not her real name. "Which star... do you know... and how do you find it... I want to hear from all of you a different one... If you do not know, you can just say so."

In shelter of the night, it was still a little difficult for Honnou to spot someone from afar. Although, he betted that his eyes actually functioned as lightbulbs shining forth, but that was more of a daydream than anything realistic. Despite the glow, his eyes didn’t emit light in the same fashion as a lightbulb. He would have to deal with this vision for now… but the next person who greeted him had come closer for a full view. It was a white-haired, two-tailed canine girl… and his Hakumei suddenly stopped focusing on a wide radius and laid all its vision on those fluffy tails.

“… O-Oh, hi there. Good evening to you too,” he greeted back, “And yeah, I’ll have class here too. I’m Honnou Hyuuga.” He couldn’t help but appear a little silent for a moment, then casually reveal his attention to the two, fox-like tails on the girl’s rear. How was it to have huge, wool-like tails like those? Wasn’t it difficult to sleep on the back with those?

As his eyes began to switch to 360 degree vision once more, it wouldn’t take long before another figure showed up. This time, the figure inspired a slight terror in whoever saw him due to the clear stains of blood on his shirt. It smelled like mud and duff too… he must’ve been around. Despite the worry, there must’ve been a good reason for this guy to be here with that getup. “Uh, hello there… bloody stains, bandage, silent mouth. Yup. It’s freaking me out a little…” he greeted the newcomer. Despite not lying, Hon’s eyes barely showed any signs of fear - maybe the boy was attacked, maybe he attacked someone; at the very least, Hon let out what exactly got to his nerves and attempted to do so very exact.

Another white-haired girl had gone up to the masked figure whose identity was yet to be revealed. Hon’s eyes switched over to the two of them, hoping for the hooded person to say something. And she did… she mentioned the stars above them. That was also written in the message at the post box.

So they were going to look at stars, eh? That felt… pleasant, to describe it. Hon would make himself comfortable, then; flopping right on the grassy ground, looking straight up at the starry heavens. The hooded girl’s name was Tinīsutā, and given by her voice, she was likely around… he couldn’t even tell her age. That was a bummer.

“A star…” he mumbled, thinking deeply, “I do know the name of a star or two… that one, Hakuchō.” In all honesty, it was more of the specific gathering of a number of stars that shared that name, but the hooded person must’ve known that.

The sound of movement would be caught by her fox ears, making the girl turn around to see a few more approaching people. One was a bandaged, bleeding person standing on the verge of being a living mummy from the desert tombs of Sunagakure, no two eyes the same and looking every bit like he just crawled out of a grave with a listless attitude just to attend to this class. For a moment, the Medic in training was about to rush in to verify his state of well-being but from his movement and general behaviour he didn't seem bothered by his own strange looks at all. Well, other than him realising his shirt was a little.. off for class? It was confusing.

The boy that had introduced himself as Honnou Hyuga seemed freaked out by the sound of his words but did otherwise little to run away or help the mummy out. Like it was pretty normal to see people like him run about. Deciding to sit this one out, Misaki would wait until the bandaged guy had approached sufficiently for her not to raise her voice when talking to him.

"Are you alright?", she'd ask him once he got closer to hear what the teacher had to tell them. "If you're wounded I could patch you up some."

Granted, she couldn't heal broken limbs or the like but bleeding wounds, cuts and bruising were not the hardest to restore to original flesh for the chuunin. That was, if he wasn't a living dead or something since that could bring complications. Sunagakure tended to have the weirdest creatures running about, and though this place was not Sunagakure there was no saying Tea couldn't have equally crazy things making their home here.

In the meantime, a girl would arrive as well and introduce her as 'Asuka', while the today's teacher was named 'Tinīsutā'. One name, though common, amused the onmyouji kitsune who thought its meaning meant 'fragrance of tomorrow', but the other one was not one she could readily name. Was that a typical name in Tea? Could be. Not lingering too much on the meaning of names since class was about to start, the first of questions would be asked.

Did anyone know about astrology? Why, yes. Misaki knew a few things about that. More from hearsay than really having delved into it herself, but some onmyouji of the Aikayume clan used it to read the destiny of a kid. The position of the start upon birth was often used to determine its general personality as well as the strengths and weaknesses they'd uncover throughout the years. Like many of the onmyouji's arts of divination, such things were used to read the future and gain a sense of insight that reached beyond that of mundane mortals. But today's question was quite different.

Did anyone know how to find their way back with the stars? Misaki looked up, her bored mood not entirely gone just yet. Watching the current position of the stars, she could hear the whispers of a few familiar Aikayume mumble about the moon's auspice, the North Star and the Southern Cross, and something about big and small dogs, Venus and Mars, but in the two red eyes of the kitsune all she saw was a scatter of white glistening dots on a canvas of midnight blue. Oh wait...

"Isn't that the North Star?", she asked. She wasn't sure if she'd be correct on that, but the rather brilliantly shining star could pretty much have been the North Star. She had often heard about the North Star showing the way home, the star particular brilliant compared to others, but where it was positioned or how it looked exactly was blurred out by vague memories. She hadn't been stargazing in years since she picked up her shinobi lessons and the onmyouji kitsune enjoyed playing tricks too much for her to bother asking them about some star or another. Misaki spent too much of her days working on ceremonies and rituals for that.

The young female seemed to be the one in charge of teaching the class to the current group. Kotori looked rather small to be an instructor, but as Kano experienced himself, looks could be deceiving. As she made her way over to him to give him a friendly nod, Kano bowed respectfully to the Senpai before him. Despite his appearance, he was a highly respectful and caring individual.

It seemed he had already begun attracting all kind of negative attention, an unfortunately common circumstance on his behalf. The last female to join the class pretty much avoided him at all costs, and the young boy seemed to be bothered by him. Before the instruction began, the other female went up to him and asked if he was in need of medical attention. Looking down at his clothes and bandages, he could see why she would feel that way. He gave off a creepy smile, though to be fair he was trying to come off as kind and polite though his expressions always appeared villainous. "I am okay, thank you" he stated calmly. In his mind he looked cute and sweet, realistically he looked like he was going to kill someone on the spot. Hopefully no more confusion he thought.

Turning his attention back to Kotori, he carefully listened to her speak about astrology. He had heard of those who could use the solar system as a way to navigate themselves home. He even knew of a tribe that tattooed a specific constellation on their hand, so that if lost they could use their hand as a reference to which stars to seek. However, Kano had no such experience or knowledge himself; he had merely known it was possible.

Dropping to one knee, he looked up at the sky, not familiar with any of the constellations or stars. He always thought of them as beautiful but lacked the knowledge to name them. "I do know any stars." he stated calmly.

Asuka listened closely to her words. She was right... it was nice to lay down. But should she? In reality Asuka wasn't here for the class. Asuka was here simply for the fact that she was. But anyhow, better play along before suspicioun arises. She didn't want people asking weird questions. "Astrology is a subject I like... I know a few things but not enough to be called an expert... or novice for that matter." Asuka admitted, she had no reason to lie she may be able to learn something from this after all.

With a sigh she lied down next to her. With a sigh she answered the next question, "I.... I can poi-." She simply said, looking up at the brightest star. "To get home, take a step to the right of the brightest star, the one that looks like your hair and walk straight. You'll find your way home... always." She had forgotten what her mother had told her, it always brought her joy... getting home after a good day of playing in the fields. It never happened... she never got lost.. "No, I don't." Asuka sighed turning away from the sky, just a blank stare to whatever she could see. In this case... trees. Identify a star.... huh... Well, she had two... but some other girl had taken it from her. She hoped she didn't have to tell what it was. But... in the end... no one would care. Hell, it was just a star.... just... another... star.

Of course she couldn't forget the stupidity... Tinīsutā... so that's what she called herself now.... man how she wished she could headchop Tinīsutā. Apparently she needed to be taught a lesson about weird names. Asuka pointed to a star, at the top of a far off mountain, it's brightness barely able to be seen. "Asu it's what my mother called it." She said with a sigh. "It means tomorrow. The last star to dissapear before a new day begins. It's kind of how I got part of my name." She gave a sigh closing her eyes, her answer had been given. She just hoped people wouldn't ask questions.

Kotori heard many and many different things coming up... She looked to each one of them carefully. First was the small boy to talk once more. Under the mask she let her eyes go over him, black hair... with a single red strand, his eyes were shining for her own idea... He must have known a lot since he was so open also. Yet luckily he didn't know that much about stars just yet. A small smile emerged under her mask.
Her gaze went towards the fox-like lady as she started to talk and pointed up to a star, she watched with and place her fingertips against one another. "That is surely correct, but... I will tell more about them later." This lady had long white hairs, and to tell the truth, Kotori did like the color on her, but she wouldn't just bluntly say it like that... But she was wondering one thing, were those tails and ears really that soft and sensitive for the user? unknowingly her hand had cupped her chin between a thumb and index finger, looking thinkingly.
The third one to talk was one person she had kept her gaze on the whole time. There were blood stains on him the way he smiled later on... She got a rather eerie feeling, but she felt like she wasn't one to judge as she went back to her own job... Sheepishly she stood there for a second. "You... know a bit, that is good." She said towards him and looked at last to her sister who had placed her bum beside her. Something was... different, and she was surely bratty enough to place that up next time when they were private. She was curious now as their sister code was to hold nothing back, but Kotori took that in a million ways and not just in doing things.

"Alright... I will be teaching you a thing or two then." She said and clapped her hands together. "We have lot's of different stars, for an example these. Cassiopeia... Auriga... Delphinus... Andromeda... Deneb.. and I will learn you guys how to find the Milky Way. This is basic knowledge before I can teach you guys how to find your way home... So this is what you do for each one..." She let a small pause drop before she went further.
"The stars... they can act as our lampposts... All we need to do is find a star that is directly above the place that we need to go... For an example of a quarter of the globe away. If you signaled a friend that is in another country... and you asked them to find that star in the night sky and the point on the horizon directly below... that would be their exact direction from you at the moment... Unfortunately, in a few minutes, that star would have been moved so you would need a new one... This would take a lot of naming and communicate... Luckily, there is one star in the sky that does not move. This star is called Polaris, or the North Star. The easiest method for finding the North Star is by finding the ‘Plough’, an easy to identify a group of seven stars. It is known as the ‘Big Dipper’ to the Americans and the ‘saucepan’ to many others. Next, you find the ‘pointer’ stars, these are the two stars that a liquid would run off if you tipped up your ‘saucepan’. The North Star will always be five times the distance between these two pointers in the direction that they point, up away from the pan,. True north lies directly under this star. The ‘Plough’ rotates anti-clockwise about the North Star, so it will sometimes appear on its side or even upside down. However its relationship with the North Star never changes and it will always dependably point the way to it.

The reason the North Star is so important for natural navigation is that it sits directly over the North Pole. Something that people often forget is that whenever you are trying to find true north, you are actually trying to find the direction of the North Pole from wherever you are – even if you are only heading a few hundred metres on a gentle walk – ‘north’ is still just an abbreviation for ‘towards the North Pole’.

The constellation, Cassiopeia, is also very helpful in finding the North Star as it will always be on the opposite side of the North Star from the Plough and therefore often high in the sky, when the Plough is low or obscured.
Having found the North Star, there is something about its height above the horizon that is well worth knowing. Wherever you are in the northern hemisphere, the North Star will be the same angle above the horizon as your latitude. This can be measured accurately using a sextant, but an estimate can be made using an outstretched fist. We are all different shapes and sizes, but we share proportions. An outstretched fist makes an angle of close to 10 degrees for most people. In an under a minute and with just your bare hands you can now find north and estimate your latitude.

The constellation, Orion, rises in the east and sets in the west. Orion’s belt, the only three bright stars that form a short straight line in the whole night sky rise very close to due east and set very close to due west. If you want to be really accurate then the first star in the belt to rise and set, called Mintaka, will always rise and set within one degree of true east and west wherever you are in the world."
She had explained so much, her yokai only showed how these stars would look without having shown them in the sky... This would be their next test. "Any more questions after this waterfall of talking?" She asked politely.

OOC note: there is no post order, so feel free. You have once more 72 hr. If there anything, please PM me =)

The murderous mummy said he was fine and Misaki nodded. Aside from the blood mark on his shirt he didn't really look wounded but it was difficult to say at distance glance without a proper investigation. Still, the fact he wasn't running around frantically or even showing the slightest hint of worry only worked in his benefit in the doubtful situation. A wounded person wouldn't sound so calm and assured. Other than that, the bandaged boy didn't seem too interested in his environment, picking up conversation with the teacher when it concerned today's topic.

Asuka seemed hesitant on pointing out the star. It looked like actually knew what the star was, unlike Misaki who had done a wild guess based on half-forgotten memories, but the girl dropped the idea of pointing out the start talking about the origins of her name. She confirmed what Misaki already knew but the context between the name and and the north start eluded her. Was the north start truly the last one to disappear? The kitsune couldn't say. By the time such an occasion would happen, the two-tails was in bed sleeping the night away since several hours.

Insight on the matter was provided by the teacher in service. A real waterfall of words identified the north star and the surrounding stars that preceded the road to finding it. Details and correction of general believes were brought to the table as she explained exactly what the north star did, explaining how it could serve in finding their way back both on the road and on a ship. When she heard them, the explanation seemed familiar. Pieces of dusted, forgotten knowledge were resurfacing as the words revealed old lore. She knew all of that, but the knowledge on stars was used for a completely different purpose than navigation. It was used for divination. A sort of divination the kitsune didn't rely on that much, if at all. Misaki mostly used her wit, nose and carefree spirit to find her way. And should she truly get lost, then either spirits of fate had a ways to bring her where she had to be.

Unintended by the lessons at hand, Misaki wondered what it was like to be on a ship and how a sextant was even used to measure the distance when a ship was sailing. Sailing was not something she was familiar with even though it seemed rather fun. The kitsune was used to the soft sands under her feet, not the rolling waves of water.

"Is navigation at sea very different from navigation on land?"

Who knows. Perhaps she could give it a try if she knew how to find her way back home?

The North Star… it was implied to be up north in its name. Did that mean that it was very helpful to find- yes, that was it! You could find out where east, west and south were by comparing the directions to the direction of the North Star. That was very efficient in Honnou’s impression. Some other stars were pointed at as well - Asuka had pointed towards a star named Asu. It was quite faint to see from afar, but upon focusing his field of vision towards a single object, the star became more visible. It wasn’t just less brighter than other stars… in fact, it could even be brighter. It was just that it was positioned much further away… it sounded like a comparison to someone. Hon just couldn’t figure out who exactly…

The masked teacher had a much more broad knowledge about the stars, surprisingly. Honnou began listing them down in his mind; Cassiopeia… Auriga… Deneb… so many. He would have to read a book about them to truly remember them, but their names were very unique. There was also a Milky Way that they would learn how to find. Assumably, there were many ways to track down - for instance - the North Star; you could find the Plough, which was told to be a constellation of stars that formed some kind of figure. It would look like some kind of deep pot, and it would be associated with another constellation, Cassiopeia. Honnou made sure to remember that and look at the sky himself. If he could find the North Star, then it would also mean that he could find the North Pole given its location directly under the North Star. From there, things would get easier…

Ah… sailors used them, right? The constellations? When you were out in the seas, roads weren’t exactly a thing anymore… it would only prove handy to know a thing or two about the positions of the stars relative to your own location and how to navigate through that knowledge. He would roll across the grass and approach the silvery kitsune with his eyes gazing towards the hooded Tinīsutā, curious about Misaki’s question as well.

Although he would wait for Misaki to gain an answer from their teacher before he would ask his question: “… Do the stars change positions occasionally? Or is it an annual thing?”

The strange young shinobi reached into his pocket and pulled out a small notepad and a writing utensil. He remained quiet and determined as he took down notes on everything the instructor was speaking. Despite his villainous appearance, he was an earnest student, and it showed as copied down word for word what the instructor was teaching. He even drew diagrams to illustrate certain points that she was making that he felt was important.

However, his artistic skills were abysmal. The entire sketch of the sky and even his note-taking handwriting looked as if it was an ancient untranslateable language; if anything it looked like a child's rendition of ancient writing meant for some comedy sketchbook. Fortunately for Kano, the notes were for him, and he was able to understand his atrocious note-taking skills.

Notepad aside, the young shinobi was learning quite a bit about space and stars and how to use these to enhance his navigational skills. The first to ask questions seemed to be the fox lady who attempted to aid him earlier. He wrote down her question, and as he had already forgotten her name, he draws a stick figure fox head that looked hilariously cute and bad at the same time to reference that she was the one who asked.
The second to ask questions was the young lad who avoided him earlier. For him, he made a very tiny stick figure with signs of it trembling with the problem written next to him.

Kano didn't really like asking questions in a group; he did everything in his power not to stand out after all. However, he made sure to analyze group questions and learn from the answers provided to them by the instructor. He would patiently wait for the third less enthusiastic girl to ask any questions if she had any at all.

Asuka listened to the teacher speak, it truly was a wonder on what she knew about the stars. In all reality, she had never placed much thought into it. The only one she knew was because her mother had taught it to her but other than that, nothing. With a sigh she closed her eyes for a moment, remembering the past but just for a moment, any longer and she would be lost to her thoughts.

She was right on one thing though, stars moved constantly so being an expert on star gazing required a lot of time and study, to master it was near impossible since the amount of memory needed to remember which stars where out at which time of year would be a problem on itself. But, just as general star gazing, it was nice.

The North Star was indeed unique in the sense that it was the one that stayed still, shining brightly in the night sky. It had always been a pride point for the star, never wavering away. One of the few things that never changed. "Not really. The waterfall of talking is appreciated though." She spoke, not letting her eyes diverge from the slowing moving stars "I don't know if my head will retain the information, as unfortunate as that is but I do have to thank you for giving us your knowledge outside of a normal environment. It's awesome to go out and do stuff like this once in a while."

With that her mouth shut itself up, there was no need to give anymore than she had. In all honesty, she was simply enjoying the view while listening to someone teach her about a topic she would never would have thought it to be interesting. Hell, before all this she believed star gazing was a waste of time. Now, she would be doing it a lot more if time permitted. Hell, she could be at the gates and still look up at the night sky.

"Is it that much different..." She muttered, bringing her fingers to the mask. Playing it a little as she took a moment to think about it. "This method is easily used on both land and sea... The only difference is, which could make it harder. Is the fact that you are the moving object and not just the sky." She smiled politely behind the mask and would stretch her small body a bit. She had been sitting down with them for a while.
The girl was more than glad that they were paying attention... she slowly nodded to each of them. They were all paying attention and she liked that fact right now... After the moment she had been talking that much, she started to look around. She herself had already found the star that never moved... Now they had to do something in order to make the class. "So... What I want from you guys... Is that you, either work together or work separately.. to find a star... Either one of those that I have been telling..... For those who really want to do it solo... I want you to name a star that you are going to do... That star has to be different then the others are doing..." It was a slightly difficult task for those who did it solo and those who did it in a group. "You have till the stars fade to find them... But... I can already tell you.. if you paid attention you are in bed in an hour." She would nod to her own words, the thought of the soft mattress on her face and body would be a good compliment on this class. She stood up and watched then one for one again.

Teaming up to find a star. That sounded like a good idea. Just one collective of students working to find a star. The Hyuga had pretty eyes so he should be in it, and the girl seemed to know her stuff but hold back for some reason. And then there was the creepy bandaged dude who, contradictory to his looks, had yet to murder all of them so he was obviously not that bad of a guy. Grinning wide as natural mischief welled up, Misaki would lift a finger and start pointing at each of them, going all, "I pick you. And you. And you too... as part of my team. We're going to be the best!". Yep, total brat mode outsmarting the sensei for not specifying how many she could have in her team. Such were the tricky ways of the kitsune. As she shifted closer to grab people in a hug-lock, pull them closer and beckon them, she'd start musing about the star to choose.

Pointing at Asuka, she said, "You seem to know all kinds of names so you can pick one for us, right?", then she'd move to Honnou with the lunar eyes. "And Hyuga can see a lot, right? So you probably have the best eyes to find the star.". Then all who remained was the bandaged guy who seemed to have taken quite some notes by himself. "Then you can double-check if we're right with the help of your notes. What do you think about that?".

Now she hoped none of them would run away or go solo or something. Shinobi had to be able to cooperate during missions. While she couldn't say if the people here were shinobi, she could still pull them all into something remotely close to team work. With everyone being given something she believed were their strong points in the current situation, they couldn't fail in this mini-mission. A star had to be found, so they would.

Oh? They were going to team up in order to find a star? He wondered just what specific star that they were going to find - emphasizing ‘they’ given that he found himself in quite the team already. He was surprisingly hug-locked by the lively kitsune along with… oh wow, what a funny idea. Having one team consist of all the students at once was at the same time intriguingly genius and hilarious. He sure hoped that their teacher found it classy as well…

“U-Uh, yeah, of course,” he replied softly to Misaki, “Just name its pattern and I can easily find it.” He would eye Asuka afterwards, hoping that she knew just what star that they should find… and how it looked or if it was a part of a constellation or something…

The fox shinobi seemed to have taken the lead on handling the situation. That altogether wasn't a terrible thing as Kano did not have the best experiences when it came to social conditions. He looked at his notes and then up at the group. The fox was at this point pretty much barking out orders, though she also seemed polite and respectful about it, so it wasn't a terrible thing. She seemed oddly comfortable speaking to him, so Kano did appreciate that as there was often prejudice towards him in regards to his appearance. He seemed to make cliffhanger notes at her apparent ease of handling the situation. He would have to transfer those notes into his very own "How To Socialize 101" notebook at his dormitory in Kumogakure.

The tiny shinobi barely agreed with the fox. He seemed just to be going with the flow, though perhaps they were all also a tad bit too reliant on their fourth member, the kunoichi who all but ignored him on her arrival. He began searching through his notes just in case she decided to do her own thing in the end. Although uncomfortable with the proximity to other people and the fact the fox was keeping them in some odd hug, it wasn't entirely negative. Perhaps with this class, he could learn more than just navigational skills.

His eyes traveled up to the sky while in the group. A simple yet useful class that would likely aid him shortly if he ever found himself needing to navigate while lost. Perhaps Eiko who decided not to tag along for this particular trip would enjoy listening to him about his new class. A small sigh escaped him as he thought about it. It was far more likely she would call him a moron or something along those lines and proceed to dehumanize him further with nightmarish visions and illusions. Perhaps the class could go on forever he thought. He wouldn't mind that at all.

Asuka sighed once she heard the girl speak.... teams.... god how she hated teaming up with people she didn't know. Thankfully this wasn't a mission so there wasn't a big danger to screwing up. "Best is a far fetched claim." Asuka responded "Better not claim outrageously without results." Asuka looked up to the stars trying to see if she could find a specific star, of course she wouldn't be able to use the one she already said which would be a bit tricky.

"In all honesty. The only one I know is mine, but I do think I can find one..." She turned her head from one place to another, trying to find the specific.... point in the sky to say the least. There was to many to be specific or to now all of them at once, damn... this was going to be harder than she thought.

Some time passed and she still hadn't found the one she was looking for. "Where are you...." She spoke to herself, looking carefully throughout the stars. Thankfully, she did find it. "There." She spoke with a triumphant laugh, pointing to the horizon on the right. A small red light that was distinguished among the white stars. "That's what..." She stopped, sighing once more... why did she have to remember this? "That's the the sun god, resting... waiting for the moon to go away." She clinched her teeth. "At least that's what my dad used to say. If someone has a problem with it, they can choose their own star."
