Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Current Ninpocho Chronicles Time:

It was a beautiful day outside as the sun was just beginning to rise and the man known as Byakko Kyuji was sitting outside of the academy taking in the breathtaking scene as it was happening. It was strange how nature could be so calm and peaceful to the mind while the village itself was still recovering from the damage from the terrorist attacks from the infamous group known as the Cabel in more ways than one. The village itself was building above the surface but there was still much crime that needed to be taken care of and the amount of patients in the Hospital were not getting any lower it seemed even with the additional assistance in the ranks from his little trainee Azusa along with other medic-in-training hopeful trainees trying to become medics. They had been doing a fabulous job thus far filling in where the medical shinobi needed them and they were looking more and more proficient in the work that they were being tasked with along with taking the job seriously. But, the medical branch and his jobs for the branch would have to wait as he was tasked with finishing and filing paperwork for the academy for the new students coming in which included his son, Byakko Yanjirou. Fortunately or unfortunately, there was very little that needed to be done today and within mere minutes, he would be done with everything and be able to move onto his other role in the village.

Or at least, that was initially what he thought until he got a call on his headset and received news that a proctor had become ill and was not going to be coming today to give the Genin Exam. Understandably, there was a slight annoyance in his voice as he talked to the proctor, but he understood and agreed to fill in for the proctor this one time since everyone was entitled to one sick day with the drama and stress that was sustained from being on the edge so much with anticipating another attack on the village. Still with the amount of sleep that Kyuji was receiving with "raising" two kids, he did not need this today. Sighing, he would retreat to his office to get a head start on the paperwork since it seemed time was going to be of the essence today.

After about half an hour to an hour, the paperwork was finished and the exam that he was now scheduled to give was going to start very soon. But, there would no boring papers to fill out or a written portion this time around. His previous Genin Exam he gave, the students had to get a certain percentage to pass the exam and they all managed to pass barely. He was wondering where two of those Genin were today since they had vanished from the face of the earth. However, only time would tell how this exam would go for these students. When the students came to the academy, they would notice the doors were locked and a note was on the door telling them to meet to the side of the academy in the training grounds. Once they made the turn, they would see Kyuji leaning against the side with his eyes closed, but he was not meditating for once. He was listening intently with his feline-like ears to pick up the footsteps of the students to see if he could determine who they were before he opened his eyes. He had managed to be able to determine many people in the village based on their footsteps because everyone took different strides and landed differently on their feet with each step. It was nothing truly special.

As for today, the descendant of Byakko was wearing his traditional medical robes that clearly showed the village and his clan's emblems on the sleeves and hide everything else on him. Under his robes however were black military-style boots, his clan's emblem on a necklace along with a black t-shirt and black pants. Obviously, he also had on display his clan's markings from his union with his wife at the Byakko Shrine. As for his hair, he was letting it flow today and he was wearing his village's headband on his forehead for once.

It was quiet the surprise to the boy when he heard that he was to take the genin exam already. Not much time had passed since he'd officially entered the academy, so there were only a few possibilities that he could see being plausible. First, that his above-average intelligence and (adequate) fighting prowess finally managed to catch the eye of some of the village officials, and they were giving him the chance to skip the few years he had left to train. Two, word had spread that he taught himself the village's ancient language, Runic Terran, and someone wanted him to join the oracles - already being one of his many goals - as quickly as possible. Or three, his father - knowing the training he had gone through during his "nine" years in their lord Byakko's realm - recommended they allow him to take the exam, aware of his own son's ability. At least partially, anyways. Of course, Yanji is no dreamer, he is quite the opposite in fact. Yanji is a realist. And being a realist, he knows that the first two possibilities are unlikely.

That aside, the boy was already prepared. He did not know who else might be participating in the exam, who is proctor was, or even what the exam was. Hopefully something written, there was no chance for him to fail if that were the case. Always giving himself at least an hour to travel, the boy was off to the academy. Being sure to take his time in order to ready his mind and body with several exercises, both mental and physical - ranging from jogging to stretching, riddles to philosophy. The gap between what he does to prepare for both fields being very clear.

After a good while, the young Byakko arrived at the academy. Before he could even pass through the doorway, however, he noticed the note on the door. Obviously written for him, and whoever else would be testing. "The side of the academy is a strange place for an exam.." He mumbled, giving a small sigh as he obeyed the mighty note's orders.

Considering all of the exercises he put himself through on the way to this sacred place of learning, Yanjirou believed himself prepared. But there was on thing he could never be prepared for, one thing that he never would have considered. His father... Was the one waiting for him! There he was, with his hellish white complexion, and their holy sigil displayed around his neck and on his shoulders. If he didn't know he was being delusional, the boy might have even thought this man was a demon in humanish form! The boy had no choice but to approach, and making sure to keep his usual monotonous expression, he spoke to his caretaker.

"I didn't expect to see you here today father.. Here to spectate or to," Yanji almost couldn't bring himself to say it, the mere thought of his father trying to be a father figure and trying to test him was just awful, "proctor?"

Hansame was happily making his way down over to the academy, though he did have some worries, after all, he was going to the genin exams. Walking along his normal route to the school, the happy little blond waved hi to his neighbors and other, a familiar experience, just like his first day at the academy, only this time, his step seemed to have more weight and a sort of confidence in them that he didn't exactly had at the beginning of his career as an aspiring shinobi. While he walked he was also checking his bag to make sure he had everything one would need for a exam, even though he had no clue what to expect for what would be a typical exam for a student.

What he had brought was a light lunch of some sandwich triangle sliced as well as a few handfuls of some candy. While he walked down getting closer to the academy, Hansame began to reminisce on the entire experience since he became a shinobi. From meeting Yanji to practicing and learning jutsu on his own, Hansame felt that this short moment in his life really had changed him, maybe just a little bit. He was still the same in all, like his whole persona hadn't changed that much in all, he was still happy as a horse and still generally childish, but Hansame noticed little things changing about him. His hands were more steady, and now they had a few calluses on them, and Hansame had noticed he had a bit more muscle and less fat on him, such as the little bit of fat shown when he pinched his stomach was no longer present.

Reaching the academy, he read the sign and made his way over to the other side of the building, wondering if this was the normal for all exams to be in areas other then the classroom. When he got to the side, he saw a familiar figure of a friend and began to run towards them. When he got up towards them, he smiled and waved. "Hello Yanji!" he said excitedly before looking at the other taller figure, another familiar face. A little surprised, but still happy in general "Oh! Hello sir!" he smiled and gave another nod of his head, wondering why the teacher was here.

So, it appeared his own son and one of his brightest students were going to be the ones who were tasked with passing their exam today and trying to become full-fledged shinobi. It surely was not going to be an easy task for any of them as they all had strong ties with one another either through blood or friendship. Unaware of the friendship blossoming between his own son and Hansame, this was the first time that the descendant of Byakko saw them together and it made him feel a slight warmness in his heart to see his son actually meeting people around the village around his age and not hanging out with some cold, creepy, dirty men who worked and lived in the Red Light District. Although Kyuji had not been the best father in the world, he still cared about his children and all the endeavors that they had. It was sad though that Yanjirou was the only child who showed any interest in becoming a shinobi considering his sister and him were around the same skill level through their respective training methods. Yanjirou preferred training alone in their training quarters and then going off to do his own thing while his daughter, Kyushiko, preferred to train beside either her father or mother and then surround herself in becoming a lady like her mother.

Anyways, the demigod would open his eyes slowly gazing at the two boys in front of him with a friendly smile beginning to form on his face. He knew that they could pass this exam, but the question was what exam was he going to give them and would they be the two bodies that he needed to go fulfill his mission that he promised the village he would do? In some ways, the two children were not ready to go on a mission of this caliber because they were simply that, children. But, these two had both shown Kyuji in different ways that they were capable of being in high-pressure situation. Obviously, the older Byakko male knew more about his son's capability because they lived together, but Hansame had impressed him when he taught him that one day with those other two students who either chose to be idiotic or were simple morons. Both children had wits and both seemed well-educated, they probably would be fine. But, he would have to engage them prior to making his decision so it appeared small-talk was in order.

He would happily exclaim: "Good morning, Hansame and Yanjirou! Lovely day that we are starting to have!" His happy demeanor would quickly shift however as he continued: "I will be the proctor for your exam and I can only hope that you are prepared to work your butts off. I was given this task only a short while ago so you will have to excuse me for my lack of professionalism, if any is on display, as we move forward. So anyways, why do you want to be shinobi and why do you think you qualify to graduate from this academy?"

[OOC Note 1: This was a stalling post obviously. I am discussing something with Council regarding the exam to try to get you guys into a more enjoyable exam than a boring normal one. You may respond but be patient, Friends!
OOC Note 2: I am using the "darker" theme so you are aware.]

Hansame was smiling giddily as he saw the two cat eared duo, and looking at the two closer, now that they were next to each other, he saw that they did look similar in little details, besides the cat ears. Things such as hair, eyes, and even sort of their posture in Hansame's eyes, those details indeed look similar between the two. Beginning to trail off in thought, a sharp idea suddenly came up. Were the two, could it be, related?! Though as Hansame continued to think of such a possibility, he found it sort of easy to picture, the two both possessing cat ears and such.

Remembering the first class that he had with Kyuji, he then had to think about what had happened to the other two students that he had the class with. They were generally nice, and even though they squabbled with each other a bit, they were still pleasant to be around, and Hansame wondered where they went. The moment When Kyuji smiled and asked them about why they thought that they were ready for an exam, Hansame looked over at his cat eared friend, and then smiled right back at his examiner. "I want to become a shinobi because I want to have some power, and help people so that they won't get hurt by things that I could have stopped, but I also want the power to have some importance! I Think I'm ready to graduate because I feel like I got a lot stronger then I have been since I started this career as a shinobi!" he smiled and nodded his head with determination.

Thankfully, it didn't take too long for Yanjirou to see the silver lining. It seemed that the person he would be testing with was his newer friend, Hansame. If he didn't have anyone to help ease the pain of having his own father as a proctor, or if it were someone he didn't know, things might not have gone too well for him. Perhaps this would boost his confidence a bit if they were told to do something physical...

"Ah! Hello Hans, you're testing today as well? What a coincidence! I had no idea that you were eligible for Genin as well." The boy stated, attempting to make small talk. Sadly, however, Akujin began his introduction soon after the other boy's arrival. Almost as if he was intentionally trying to sabotage the young Byakko's day by preventing him from doing anything fun. Not that exam day was meant to be fun.

Yanji was surprised to see that his father and Hansame had met in the past, but he knew he shouldn't be too surprised, what with his father's activity in the academy. Once the man's introduction was complete - and his friend's answer given - the cat eared child sighed, "I suppose I'm next to go. Though, Hans and I already know each other's reasons." He would say, giving his father a quick look. Hopefully the man wasn't too dense to realize the two had met in the past as well..

"I'll answer the questions in the order you asked them. First, my reason for wanting to be a shinobi: There really is no reason. To be honest, the thought of having to obey those above me does not sound appealing, but I suppose there are some perks. Easier access to much of Suna's secrets, passports that allow me to leave and learn, the opportunity to learn about various shinobi techniques in person. But even once I become a genin, I plan on trying to be on the academic side of the shinobi world. Assuming such a side even exists, barring the medical branch, of course." The boy would take a moment to think about his next response, as he did not really know what qualified him to be a genin now either. So the easiest option would just have to be the things he thought of before.

"There are several reasons I thought of that might make me eligible for genin, even with the lack of classes I've taken. First, I've been able to design and create a weapon that suits my fighting style," As Yanji said this, he rolled up his sleeve to reveal the device he had created. Able to deploy senbon directly into his hand, "Second, despite some stories I'd heard about some ancient book teaching our shinobi Runic Terran, I spat in the face of laziness and taught myself the language in two weeks." Another pause would be given, as this may or may not be surprising to the two, "And third, apologies for this last one Hans." He warned, looking to his father. At the very least, he knew that the man before him spoke Runic Terran, so to prove that he spoke it as well, he would simply have to show him.

"ثالثا، لدي سبب للاعتقاد أنك قد قدموا توصية لشخص ما في الأكاديمية."

With those three possibilities given, Yanji looked for his father's reaction. Not only would he have to respond to his student son speaking the village's ancient language, but he would also have to give the boy an answer of sorts. Unless he simply planned on ignoring his accusation and continuing with the exam, of course.
[spoilername="Translation"]Third, I have reason to believe that you may have made a recommendation to someone at the Academy.[/spoilername]

It would appear that the two students were at least eager to take this exam as it wouldn't take either of them too long to respond to him. It would be dear little Hansame that would begin his response to the older Byakko claiming that he wanted to have some power and to be able to help people so they didn't get hurt. He also felt he was ready to graduate because he had gotten stronger since he began his career in the academy. The descendant of Byakko had some thoughts on the matter, but he couldn't think long before his own flesh and blood began to talk. His own son wanted to be a shinobi for the academic side of the world and also because he wanted easier access to documents it appeared. The child would then go into his qualifications on why he thought he was ready to take the examination. The first one was designing and creating a weapon that suited his fighting style with the second reason being he learned Runic Terran in two weeks. His last reason was said to his father in the village's tongue as he stated that his father might have made a recommendation to the Academy.

So, it appeared that the two boys wanted to go completely different paths in their lives. One wanted to educate himself more and learn more and more while the other wanted to help people and have some power. Honestly, neither student was wrong in what they wanted nor in their qualifications as they both had been impressing people left and right that had been watching their work. Although, Yanjirou had never taken a class at the academy, he was prepared for the exam as Kyuji knew he would be fine since he had learned hard in that Celestial Realm that had taken away much of his youth. Also, the examinations didn't actually have any true requirements since anyone could sign up for them as long as there was someone willing to proctor it.

The only question remaining was the mission that Kyuji had been assigned. Should he take the boys on the mission or give them the traditional exam? He knew that it would not be a walk in the park for anyone that went on the mission, but these two needed an exam and what better way to prove themselves than to show Kyuji what they could do under pressure. He would need to think about it a little as he responded to the boys. "Power is a good thing to have, Hansame, but too much power in the wrong hands could have a devastating consequence associated with it. I do however like your goal of helping people as that is mainly what my job is in the Medical Field. As for you, my son, that is great that you developed and created your own weapon. I look forward to seeing what it does in action. Your reasoning for being a Genin are admirable as well as we could always use more people that want to learn and have a willingness to become Oracles if Brother Kuro ever gets back in contact with us. Now, excuse me for a second, Hansame."

He would move his attention from the boys directly to his own son. The boy did learn the native tongue which was impressive for his age, but he still needed to be sure that the child actually knew the language and didn't just teach himself one or two lines and memorized it. He would take a deep sigh before he began to address his son in the native tongue. It was going to be a long drawn out response unfortunately as he began: "الابن، لم يكن هناك توصية مني لك أن تأخذ هذا الامتحان.

He would then turn back to both students with a smile on his face with the smile actually concealing his gut feeling of worry. He had to make a decision quickly on if the students were going to take the mission on or take a normal exam. In either case, there was probably going to be fighting involved unless someone older than them and Kyuji was going to be monitoring the situation. The last exam that he had given was for Mao, Surutameni and Azusa who all passed but had to fight him and work together to do that. They did have an assist from his wife throwing an ice spear into his chest, but that was beside the point. If these two were going to do an exam, it was going to be a written and physical exam which Kyuji honestly didn't want to do. But, he didn't want to do the mission and jeopardize their futures if they were killed off. Decisions, decisions, they both were tough choices...either exam would be a tough one for the boys, but it was probably best to play to their disadvantage and that was getting physical so it seemed it was decided.

Taking a deep breathe, he would close his eyes as he inhaled and reopen them as he exhaled. He would then begin to talk to them again in a serious tone: "The examination for you two is going to actually be a mission with me. We are going to be going outside of the village and infiltrating a base because we need to know if the organization in it is aligned with us or against us. There will probably be fighting involved so I hope you are prepared for that, but under no circumstances are we suppose to kill the leaders of the group. There are roughly five leaders in the group. I am thinking that if they are in this base, they will be either near the back or in the center depending on how the inside of it is. We first have to get to the base and in it first before we worry about that. So, are you two prepared for a mission or do you need to go home and get your weapons, items and what not?"

So, the mission was laid out. Would they be able to do it or would they die in the process? Nobody really knows!

5. [spoilername="Translation"]"Son, there was no recommendation from me for you to take this exam. I may run the Academy, but I am not going to make special accommodations for you just because you are my own blood. As for learning Runic Terran, that is great that you learned the language at your age in two weeks. It took me less than a day to learn it, but that might be because I am a demigod and you have not gone through the rite of passage yet. But anyways, your friend here is a smart kid. I had him in class before and he exceeded my expections. I just hope he doesn't disappoint you or I in the exam."[/spoilername]

It had been nearly twenty minutes at this point as the young student Kichiru waited in his room patiently for his exam proctor to arrive. It had seemed like only yesterday that he had entered the academy and he was already getting ready to leave it ,though he wasn't quite sure he wanted to. Over his time here he had experienced quite a few many things, made new friends, and learned a lot about what it means to be a shinobi in Sunagakure. Though he knew, in regards to that last lesson, that he would not want to turn out like he was "supposed" to, at least how the assassin of Soon's Haven had described it. He did not want to simply become a tool to be used to strip away life from this world. He did not want to be a sword, he wanted to be a shield, protecting the people he cared about. And, perhaps albeit a bit idealistic of him, Kichiru cared about each and every person in his village. They were his family, and, even though some of them committed crimes or weren't the most morally conscious, they still deserved a chance to find that morality. Everyone deserved a chance to do good in this world.

This is getting a bit out of hand... Maybe I can find another teacher and ask them what's going on.. The boy hopped out of his seat and onto his feet. His eyes scanned over the room once more before he took a deep breath and exited the room, hoping he could find someone quickly before he was forced to wait for another exam to take place. "Hello? Is anyone here?" His voice echoed down the hallway until it collided with a teacher who was walking down the hall towards him. "Huh, Kichiru? What are you doing? How did you get in here??" The man stood staring towards Kichiru puzzled, which only confused the student more-so. "I was waiting in my room and nobody showed up for my exam!" The man muttered a few words under his breath and then spoke up once more "How long have you been here? The doors have been locked for quite some time..." Kichiru grinned as he ran his hand through his dark-brown hair "Well, you see.. I saw someone opening it earlier and I kind of just went in! I just wanted to be early!" The man sighed, any sense of frustration or anger slipping away due to the innocence of the student before him "Kyujin-Sensei will be taking over your exam slot. He's outside by the training field with the other two students. Now get down there before he starts or you'll miss your chance!" Kichiru quickly burst into a sprint towards his destination Before turning right towards it he looked back, waving with a smile "Thank you Ichiku-Sensei, next time you see me I'll be a full-fledged Shinobi!"

They would notice his state of slight exhaustion as he had just sprinted through the halls of the academy and out into the training fields in order to get there as soon as possible. It seemed he had made it just on time to hear the details of their exam, which would be slightly unorthodox as they would actually be going on a reconnaissance mission of sorts. He grinned as he looked towards his two fellow students, one of which he recognized as Yanjirou, the boy he had met in the training fields not too shortly before, yet the other one he did not recognize except perhaps from seeing them in the streets or the academy at some point. "Alright.. Alright I made it! Oh, hi Yanjirou. And hello, I don't think I've met you before!" His smile lightened up even more-so as he reached his hand out towards Hansame. If the boy was a skeptical or analytical type, he would notice that Kichiru was genuinely happy to meet someone new, perhaps moreso than the usual person would be. After their greetings, Kichiru would turn attentively to listen to the details of the exam, which he thankfully did not miss. Maki Luck strikes again! I went to two incorrect rooms and still made it. Thank you Mom for teaching me to always show up early!

"Alright." he spoke as Kyuji finished his description of what was to come, looking towards who would be his fellow partners in this mission "Let's do this." The red from his face had now since disappeared and all that was left was his bright smile. He knew that Yanjirou was knowledgeable, so that would certainly come in handy. Though what excited him most was the prospect of actually seeing Kyuji-Sensei in action. He was obviously quite powerful and wise, but to what extent, Kichiru was dying to know.

We're going to ace this mission!

Hansame listened to his cat eared friend speak out his reasons for wanting to become a full fledged shinobi, as well as why he thought he was ready for such an exam. At the point when Yanji began to converse in another language with his maybe father, Hansame was still not so sure about all the details of the two's relationship with each other, but he was positive that Yanji wasn't talking about anything bad about him.

When Kyuji addressed him about his ambitions and reasons, mainly about how having too much power would be a bad time in the long run, but he smiled at the slight praise for wanting to help other people around him. When his teacher spoke again in Terran, Hansame was again left in the dark, though he was sure nothing bad was happening between the two.

As for the next part of their exam, the mission, the young sunna's eyes lit up at the details. 'A stealth mission, this is so cool!!' he thought in his mind as another boy showed up right next to them. Smiling and giving a wave, he then turned to Kyuji when he asked if they were all set. "I'm all set sir! I have what I need!" he nodded.

It was almost nice hearing praise from his father. Considering how much they were apart, he'd never experienced anything quite like it before. Or perhaps he had.. The gap in his memory from his time spent in Byakko's realm is quite inconvenient - when was he supposed to regain those memories again? Unimportant, now he would have his first personal test for comprehending what a fellow speaker of Runic Terran was saying. Much to his joy, the boy understood every word that was said, but instead of showing his initial feeling excitement, he instead chuckled. It seemed his father still believed his son was an ignorant young boy. Well, one part was true...

He replied, his words filled with frustration for any who bothered listening in on their private conversation. As he finished, he heard another person approaching the group, looking behind him to see who it might be. "Another person? Doesn't sound like an adult.. This exam may turn out to be more crowded than I could've hoped for." The boy thought as he saw a third familiar face join, just in time to hear the explanation of what the exam would entail. At least he knew, or at least recognized, everyone involved. It may make it easier to co-operate in the missio- Mission!? His father really was an imbecile! Not only was he going to use students to do his job, but he even told them there may be fighting! The boy might even question his sanity if he didn't already know he belonged in some mental asylum.

"At least we have to remain unseen..." Or so he hoped, for his father to say there may be fighting in a stealth mission.. The three students may be living their last moments even as they spoke. Yanji had so much he wanted to see, so much he wanted to do! But now his father decided he must end it all.

"Hans... My friend," Yanjirou spoke softly, approaching his friend, "If we don't make it through this, I just want you to know..." He gave a long pause, purposely trying to add to the moment, "I like this jacket a lot." With that said, he would open his arms for a hug ,however painful it might end up being for an introvert such as himself - but going this far to mock his father would be worth it in the end!

Once Hans and Yanji's special moment came to an end, the cat eared boy would turn to Kichiru, using the same soft voice he did with his first friend. "Now, Kichi-san.. I have something I'd like to show you." He would pull his cat-eared hood down, revealing his actual cat ears to the boy. Every encounter they'd had before, his ears were covered, so he might not have known, "Remember them in the afterlife." After showing him, he would let out a sigh of annoyance and place his hand on Kichi's shoulder, giving him a slight nod with a pained look on his face. He'd now stepped so far out of his comfort zone at this point, that he wouldn't be surprised in the least if he just dropped dead. Though, that might be the better outcome at this point. Pulling his hood back over his head, the boy would turn back to Akujin.

"I suppose I'm ready now father." Yanji said with a genuine smile, his eyes glowing after he spent so much time amusing himself. He'd successfully forced himself to forget what he'd just done, at least for the moment. If he at least wanted to try not dying, he would need to be as focused as possible.
[spoilername="Translation"]Do you believe I've lived under a rock? I'd like you to remember that I am a scholar as well as an observer, and learn more than what books have to teach. Rumors, gossip, behavior, all things I enjoy learning in my free time. I know of that book. What was it again? Not important.. But I'm sure you know it as well, the on that teaches those it deems worthy Runic Terran. And despite our godliness, I doubt it has anything to do with our ability to learn. And there was that. The mission had been stated to them and they all seemed prepared to go on this mission including the newest addition to the team being Kichiru. It appeared that the academy and the village was being more confident in his abilities as a shinobi and sensei to give him another student to proctor--erm put on this dangerous mission. It was true that the village officials had made the mission a low enough rank for anyone to really be selected, but in the grand scheme of things, this mission was a high-ranking one in the eyes of the older man and the village knew it as well. By putting three students that wanted to be Genin into a mission of this caliber, he was putting their lives and his own reputation on the line if they failed. One minor slip-up and the students would get severely injured or murdered in cold blood. Let's just hope that this suicidal mission would not bring back three murdered children and a sensei that was heavily injured and one who would be demoralized and even demoted.

As each boy said their little bit that he had to say, Kyuji wasn't entirely focusing on the situation as he was reflecting on his son's words that were spoken in the village's native tongue moments earlier. He had to admit that his son was something else to learn the language so young, but he still could not get overly confident about his abilities. It might had been beginner's luck or he was truly special like his father; regardless, the boy would need to go through the rite of passage after the exam to regain his memories if Lord Byakko deemed him worthy. As of now, he was looking worthy but their great cat lord was always watching and judging them on their actions. The only time that Kyuji's attention was struck back into focus was when his son was actually showing some feelings towards his teammates possibly in spite of his dad, but it was definitely something to see. The boy actually had friends and he did it all on his own, he didn't need his father to use his power to make him friends and that was definitely a good sign! But, his son's bizarre actions would quickly end and he would say he was ready now for the mission much like the other two had said before him.

It was finally time to begin it appeared and this prompted the descendant of Byakko to pull out three similar bracelets that had a circle on one of the buttons and the other button was an X. He would extend his hand to the three boys and say the following: "Please take one of these bracelets and put it on your arm. There is a method to my madness for having these. Trust me." The bracelet itself had, aside from its two buttons, a little screen of sorts that showed the same two buttons but space between them. Surely, the students were confused about what this meant so Kyuji would explain it to them. "This isn't a part of the mission, but it is part of your exam. You will use these bracelets to make decisions as a team which we will then follow during the mission. There will be times when there will be no decision needed or I will make the decision to assure we don't go down the wrong path. But, mainly you three are going to be heading the mission and I am going to follow behind you three to assure we don't get attacked by behind. I have one of these bracelets as well which shows me the results from the decisions you make. I have the final say regarding a decision if I do not like the idea, but remember, there are three of you so there will always be a majority rule. Oh...right, the buttons. The circle button would be used to answer yes to a question or to select something to the left side of us, the right side of us or no would be the X button. Do not forget the buttons."

He would then pull out a scroll that was actually a map of the area that they would be going, but he would not open the map. He would hold it in his hand and smile at them: "Your first majority rules selection. Pick the circle if you want me to open up the map and give you a detailed explanation of the area that we are going. Pick X if you do not want me to open this scroll and we just head out. The area we are going to is around Sora where the high ranking country officials live. That does mean that we have to go through the desert and survive anything that we see out there or that attacks us."

Depending on the selection by the students, he would do one of the following:
1. He would open the map revealing the whereabouts of the base in relation to Sora and their village. He would then say the following: "It is a direct path on the map to the base and you can see it is almost directly outside Sora. The issue with the base is finding it due to the sandstorms that we can experience in the desert. It is not an easy stroll from our village to Sora and finding this base is going to be hard, but I know that the base is around this area. It appears to not be too heavily guarded from the exterior, but we do not know how advanced their technology is compared to ours. They might have people watching from within and thus we need to be careful regardless. I know that there are numerous ways to get into the base, but there is apparently two places that are the main entrances. I am not sure how you three want to go about getting in there, but let's make sure we get to the place first. I hope you all have brought food and water with you because it is going to be a long journey. Any questions?"

2. He would put the scroll away and nod to the three students. He would then say the following to them: "Since we decided to not open the map, let's head out soon. The direction of Sora is that direction and we will get directly to the place as quickly as possible. If we need to actually go into Sora, I will buy anything that we need, but we should avoid entering that area if we can. Their government and our government are not looking eye-to-eye and seeing Sand shinobi would be very, very bad. We should be able to get to the base within a day or two. But, be prepared as we will need to find shelter and other basic needs during our journey."

Regardless of their response to the question, he wasn't going to leave the village quite yet. He wanted to be sure that they were truly ready for anything and to be sure that he answered any questions that they had.

[OOC:
1. Sucky post is sucky.
2. Also, be prepared as you will be getting into a modded situation if you guys decide on the wrong things to do.
3. As for selecting your responses, I know that we have the urge to look at other's posts before we post and thus you are going to see someone's button pressing. Keep it IC or send me the selection...you three decide on how you want to do it lol.
4. Also, future posts will not have the numbered parts...I will be keeping them secret until you decide.]

The three students seemed to be ready to start their mission that would decide not only if they would become Bashar or not, but also if they were simply capable of survival in dangerous situations. Most might say that sending students on such a dangerous mission would be lunacy, however it appeared that those in power decided that Kyuji was capable enough to keep the three of them safe. Or perhaps they just agreed that their budding new shinobi could handle the threats they were about to face, and if they couldn't then they would simply be liabilities to the village. Of course, none of these thoughts ran through Kichiru's mind. Instead, he was excited to be able to work alongside Yanjirou and Hansame, under the watch of his first teacher at he academy. While he didn't know much about Hansame, Kichiru noticed the energetic attitude and general happiness to him, which reminded him a bit of himself. He was confident that if, no, when they completed this mission they would continue to work together as friends.

A shocked smile surprised even Kichiru as he watched Yanjirou hug his friend, a display of affection he didn't really see as typical for his fellow student. Perhaps their interactions at the training fields had not been all-encompassing of the boy's personality? It was then, after their friendly embrace, that Yanjirou turned towards Kichiru. Fully expecting similar treatment, as was Kichiru's way, his arms began to raise up into a hugging position.

That was not Yanjirou's intent. Kichiru's eyes widened as his open arms instantly transformed into a single pointed finger towards the new site: Yanjirou's ears. “I.. cat... Huh!?” His confused excitement simmered into simply confusion as Yanjirou placed a hand on Kichiru's shoulder. He simply nodded back, attempting to process the revelation while also understanding that doing such a thing must have been difficult for his fellow student. As links began to form in Kichiru's mind, his confusion turned to happiness as he realized that Yanjirou had felt worry that they wouldn't make it through the mission and therefore he wanted to dissolve any secrets held between them.

“Yanjirou, don't be silly. We're going to make it through this, I'm certain of it. Kyuji wouldn't thrust us into a situation where we were destined to fail! We just have to be smart and work together and I'm certain we will succeed!” He ended his words of encouragement with a thumb up. Anyone who analyzed his speech or body language would realize the boy genuinely believed what he was saying. Perhaps it was confidence in his own abilities, or maybe he was simply just too naive to understand the dangerous situations they would soon find themselves in.

Huh... A bracelet? He examined the strange device as he attached it to his wrist as Kyuji continued his explanation of what they would be using it for. The boy seemed rather excited to use such an interesting piece of technology, clearly not having experienced much of it in his life beforehand. Without much thought, Kichiru answered their first decision with ease. As he pressed the 'O' button he was certain that this was simply an example of the kinds of decisions they would be making during the mission. Regardless, nobody would choose to go into a mission blindly, right?

Thankfully, that seemed to be the case. Regardless if one of them truly believed in their ability to blindly run into the situation, at least two of them had decided to examine the map and plan out their route. It appeared that the route was fairly simple, though the difficult part would be the journey itself through the desert. Kichiru had made short trips to Soon's Haven with his father, though he never had to specifically worry about the responsibilities that came with leading others through the harsh deserts. Kichiru had a question regarding the safeness of their path, but he decided to hold it back, trusting that they would be taking the safest path possible through the desert. He also did not wish to burden the others with what might seem like a silly question. It was the desert, and they wanted to minimize the exposure they had to the rough climate by going straight towards their target. “No questions here Kyuji! We'll make our way through the desert and when we see the place in the distance we'll start being careful, right?”

Hansame was slightly surprised to see his cat eared friend change his tone to a more annoyed and frustrated sort of voice. Perhaps the two were having a passive aggressive argument with each other, but why in a different language? 'Is it something really personal maybe?' he questioned himself while watching the two communicate. As he continued to observe the two with a peaked interest, wondering what was the exact subject of the two cat eared people were talking about. When Yanji addressed the other small blond child, Hansame looked directly at him, tilting his head in curiosity, and after the pause and Yanji finished his statement, Hansame gave a little gasp. Covering his mouth with his hands for a split second before running over to take hug his friend, surprised at how he was opening up to him like that. "Thank you Yanji! I care about you too! You're like, my best friend! And I'll be there for you! Always!" he smiled brightly.

When the other boy said his part, as well as showing his surprise of the cat ears, Hansame nodded in agreement, though still in a shock from Yanji opening up like that. When Kyuji spoke again and handed them a bracelet, Hansame obediently put it on his left wrist, admiring it before looking at each button and hearing out the teacher's instructions. Almost without a second thought, Hansame pressed the 'O' button. Much better to go safe then sorry. Nodding his head, he turned back to the other two, excited for the upcoming mission.

His friends' reactions were to be expected simply from his observations of each of their personalities. Hans had always been quick to accept any kind of positive emotions, and from what he'd seen so far, Kichi just tried to go with the flow. Either way, the only reaction that made him the least bit embarrassed was Hans', after he misinterpreted what was said. Though he wouldn't be able to deny he cares for the boy on some level... After seeing how his father was too oblivious to realize that his ability to protect children was being insulted, Yanji proceeded to listen to the way the exam would be run.

They'd already heard what they would be doing, but now it would come down to voting... Not only was this rather random, or perhaps planned quicker than a last minute fill-in should have been capable of, but Yanji couldn't think of a way that his father could have gotten a hold of such technology so quickly. But that was beside the point, the real problem was not knowing what his companions would choose, and who was choosing it. It wouldn't be as bad if the group knew who chose what, so that any bad choices made could be quickly corrected before anything bad happens, but this could just mean trouble. The cat-eared boy would just have to rely on his team mate's ability to problem solve and make good decisions!

As instructed, Yanjirou placed the bracelet on his wrist and listened to the rest of his Father's instructions. After the first bit was explained, he waited for Hansame and Kichiru to choose either X or O, and thankfully the team was off to a good start! Both of his team mates chose O, so they would at least be able to make some ind of plan on their way there, now that they knew the lay out of the building they would be infiltrating. Once they were shown the layout, their Sensei explained that it would be about a two day journey before they all reached their destination... Is that really what Kyuji would consider a "short" journey through the desert? Short is a few hours, but perhaps that is asking too much considering where they were. Never know what the conditions of the desert will be when you set out, but there was really only one way to find out. And that was to get going!

"I assume you plan to give us some survival training on our journey there if you don't intend to buy the basics for surviving such a journey... Otherwise, I suggest we make a few stops before leaving the village." Some of his Father's decisions have been questionable thus far, but he could at least hope he would agree to gather supplies before setting out. "Roughing" it out in the deserts of Wind Country didn't sound too appealing...

Mere moments passed after explaining the devices given to the children and they had already agreed together on being shown the map. The descendant of Byakko smiled as this was a wise decision on their part as nobody should be too foolish that they wouldn't want to get as much intel on their mission prior to beginning it.

He would wait for the three to respond to his question letting them digest all the information carefully before they spoke. It would appear Kichiru would be the first one to respond by asking a simple question of when they began to see the place they would need to start to be careful. It would then appear that Hansame would stay quiet as his own son would be the next to speak. He wasn't asking any real questions in respond to Kyuji's question but he was trying to be wise and cautious which one could not blame him for since they were going into the unpredictable Hell known as the deserts of Wind Country where wild animals and humans lurked waiting for some weak prey to strike. Having excess supplies would be good so long as it didn't weight the party down and make them easy targets,

But, it appeared it was time for the demigod of the Byakko Clan to speak once again. His smile was still on his face as he had a smart comment to give to his son in regards to not being prepared and what not, but he chose to keep it to himself as he didn't need to make a scene with his son in front of these two other students since it would appear quite unprofessional. Instead, he would close his eyes yet again as he spoke calmly and clearly: "You are partially correct, Kichiru. We will make our way through the desert, but we need to be careful while we are making our way there. The deserts of Wind Country are unpredictable and one wrong move and we could be delivering one of you to your loved ones in a body bag because we were ambushed by something like other people or a pack of wild wolves. You need to be careful always, but especially careful in the desert as it is you versus the wild. There will be nobody else to help you aside from your fellow students and myself, but you need to be prepared to fend for yourself as we could get separated. As for your concern, Yanjirou...I never planned on giving any training for this mission or exam since you and your fellow students should know the basic essentials to survival. Obviously, I will be there to protect you three and help you three out as we go towards our objective. But, no, there is no training but if you and your fellow students listen to me when we are out there, you may learn something like how to cook wild animals or which plants are edible and which are dangerous for us. But, I agree that you three should stock up on supplies like food, water, and the proper clothing for the desert. I also suggest finding or making a shroud to conceal your identities and to fight off the brutal storms that we will probably encounter."

He would then reopen his eyes as he peered at all three of them with his cat-like eyes never blinking. He would sigh before his calm demeanor turned to a more solemn one as he continued: "I will wait here for you three. Go get what you need for the mission and return here as soon as you can. We will continue to use your decision devices when you return, but for now go on and get what you need. If they want money, tell them that the Byakko Clan is paying for it. Don't keep me waiting too long as we are burning daylight here."

His mind would then wander off again as he began to reflect on his decision to make these students go on a mission of this caliber. They were so young and the threats that they would have to deal with were going to be probably more than they could handle. Sure, they had him with them but they were still students even if they were all bright and seemed like they were confident in their abilities. This was going to be either a great move on his part or a suicide mission where he would lose three great boys to appease the village for information. Congrats Byakko Kyuji, you are putting three students' lives on the line, you sick bastard.

[OOC: So, I am letting you do what you want in the next post you do. I am sure we all want to keep this going so we can do one post unless you three rather RP it all out getting what you need and what not. Regardless, your sensei is going to be just chilling until you return since he has all his supplies since he is Kyuji and he is good like that.

Kichiru nodded as Yanjirou spoke, adding in quite a few details that Kichiru hadn't even thought of, simply believing that whatever they needed to know or have for their journey would be provided by their proctor. They were just supposed to be showing off what they learned in the academy, right? It seemed a bit strange, but perhaps this was the way of Shinobi in Sunagakure. They had to be self-reliant and able to plan for any possible danger in order to maximize the chance of their success. And in this case, failure meant one of them getting hurt and in Kichiru's mind that was absolutely not a risk he was willing to ignore. Although he didn't know Hansame, nor did he truly know too much about Yanjirou, he deeply cared about them as much as he did any other member of his village and he would do everything in his power to make sure his comrades, and hopefully his friends, would be safe.

“Of course. We need to be prepared so that when any foe crosses our paths we will be ready! We will make you proud that you had us go on this mission!” He raised a thumbs-up towards Kyuji with a bright smile. Normally when Kichiru smiled it was genuine and held only happiness and empathy behind it, though this time anyone with a keen enough eye might notice something deeper behind it. He wanted with every fiber of his being to be able to protect those he would be with so that what he witnessed could never happen again on his watch. So that he would never be forced to stand by in fear helplessly as others lost their lives in the blink of an eye.

So that I can never feel that darkness again...

“Right! So let's make a list of things we can bring for our journey. We'll want food, water, protective clothing for the desert, as well as our normal shinobi gear. Since we all have that last part covered, we could split up. I'll grab the food, Hansame, you could grab enough water for us, and Yanjirou, you could find us proper protection. That way we don't waste a second of time when we could be forging forward on our path to completing this mission and acing the exam. What do you guys think?” Kichiru took a deep breath as he looked towards his comrades with an eagerness to hear their opinions on his plan.

OOC: I think this would be better suited if we did this in two rounds, perhaps skipping Kyuji since he'll be staying behind. We won't really need massive Rps, simply talking about the plan and, if we all agree, splitting up to get our supplies and returning.

Hansame nodded his head as he took in all of the information regarding the mission, and the answer to Kichiru 'squestion. Now the thought of dying had popped up into his mind, he couldn't help himself but to trail off imagining all of the horrible fates that could happen to him, and his body bag delivered to Touka, or even just dropped off in his apartment room, slowly decaying until his parents came back to find him a cold, dead little Hansame in a body bag. Hearing Yanji's answer, he didn't know or understand if there was a subtle message or undertone his friend was trying to convey to them, but he continued to smile and listen, thinking about all the supplies he would need.

Hearing Maki's enthusiastic tone made Hansame even more excited for the mission as his nerves went down. "Yeah! Let's do our best, and one day we'll surpass our seniors, elders, and everyone else! Maybe even you Mister Kyuji!" he smiled, before turning to Yanji and Kichiru. "Yeah! I know a great place to get clean water, so maybe a big gourd or jugs should do! Plus, i have other cool supplies that i can bring as well, and candy!l" he said, giving a little nod, before another thought came up. "but then again, i could make the cloaks instead to save us money and stuff?" he suggested.

It was reassuring - to say the least - to see that all of his team mates agreed to looking at the map. Anyone who disagreed with such an idea may not be ready to be tasked with the kind of mission they had ahead of them... The more he thought of the danger that may be lying in wait, the more Yanji began to consider waiting until another time to take the exam, or even suggesting another option, but much to his surprise, the enthusiasm of his fellow teammates was contagious. He began to feel that they could really do it, so long as they had enough determination and team work.

"You two may be right.. I believe we'll make it through this as well." The boy stated with a smile. After having another "moment" with his recently acquired friends, he listened intently to what Kichiru had to say, occasionally agreeing as he explained his idea. "Yes.. I can see why we would want to gather supplies quickly, and splitting up would certainly be the fastest way to do so. I agree, Kichi, let us leave as soon as possible." It wasn't long after Hans agreed to this plan as well, that he suggested he make the clothing rather than them simply buying it, but Yanji chimed in soon after, "As much as I would love more of your clothing, my dear Hans, I believe that would take a tad longer than purchasing it. Your home is much farther than the nearest market, and the process itself could take hours, but I do not want to discourage you from making us something in the future..." The cat-eared boy made sure to give pause, for dramatic effect of course, before continuing, "I may have forgotten to tell you this, but I've asked Kichiru here to join us on our journey as well. I believe I neglected telling you that Hans was the other participant as well..." Yanjirou paused to think back for a moment.

"That's beside the point, I propose that we buy more durable materials after the exam, so that you can make us something a little sturdier. From what I saw the last time I visited, most of what you have access to is for commercial use, and wouldn't offer us much protection against weapons and the more severe storms that Wind Country has to offer." He explained, still trying to encourage the other boy to make them all clothing later. Having him make clothing may become a sort of addiction later down the road, but it would be worth it!

"Now then, if that's agreeable, Hans, I believe two large gourds would be more than enough to last us two or more days. If we must, we could always stop by a nearby city after the mission is complete. Be sure to grab straps for the gourds though, we can't be carrying them in our arms the whole way, now can we?" He said with a smile. "So, if we all agree, I suggest we get started. We're only wasting time by discussing it here." If neither of his team mates had anything more to ask, explain, or question, then Yanjirou would turn around and begin walking toward the gate to out of the academy.

"I'll be off then! See you all back here in a couple of hours."

Kichiru smiled as he waited for the others to chime in on his idea to split-up to gather the needed supplies quickly, which thankfully turned out to be met with a resounding agreement from his two comrades. He did not say anything as Yanjirou and Hansame exchanged their thoughts on the possibility of Hansame hand-making their own clothing for the journey. While it was certainly a sweet and interesting idea, it would likely take a bit too long for when they needed to depart.

“Oh! I had no idea this is who you spoke of. It's nice to meet you Hansame-san!” Kichiru suddenly laughed out, not having realized that he would be fortunate enough to not only be joining in on the exam with Yanjirou but also the other fabled person they would be adventuring with one day. It certainly was quite the streak of fortune he was having.

Finally it was time for them to depart, not needing much more input from Kichiru as their plan had already been discussed enough. Without much delay he began off towards the Marketplace, waving towards the two of his fellow students as he left the Academy “See you guys later! We'll be back soon Kyuji-sensei!”

From there he made his way to the marketplace where he would be tasked with finding proper rations for their journey through the harsh deserts of the Wind Country. Now where would I find proper rations.. What even would we want to eat on such a journey? It didn't take long for him to find a food-stall that was open. This one in particular seemed to serve fresh fruits and vegetables “Mister, do you know what would be a good idea for those who want to travel in the desert?” The man behind the stall chuckled “Well, first off I suggest you don't go making any plans of traveling on your own! But I'd recommend foods that will keep you full while also being quite nutritious. For example, I'm certain some of this fruit would do nicely! May I suggest these pink thimble-berries perhaps?” Kichiru stood up on the tips of his toes to look to where the man pointed “Huh.. Sure! I was told to tell you that the Byakko clan would be paying for it!” “You're getting supplies for the Byakkos? Hurry on! You don't want to keep them waiting.” Kichiru smiled as he ran towards another of the stalls with the containers under his left arm, looking back to wave towards the man “Thank you sir!”

And with that he would continue on his spree throughout the marketplace, only to return about an hour or two later with a few bags full of rations for them. In total, he had purchased four containers of thimble-berries, two containers of almonds, pieces of meat that the vendor promised could be heated up with chakra and eaten, eight Kali Melons, and finally four containers filled with different types of ramen. It was clear that the child likely should have been given a bit more guidance as to the types of food he would be retrieving, but it would likely do. He placed the bags onto the floor in front of Kyuji “It's all here! The Byakko clan sure is generous!” A laugh echoed outward as he looked off to see what his companions had procured for their journey.

OOC: Sorry for the poor quality, wanted to get this exam moving quickly again.

Hansame nodded his head understandingly with Yanji's opinion regarding the issue of clothing, and though he was slightly disappointed, he quickly reminded himself that he'll have plenty of opportunities to make some more clothing for them at later moments, especially given the fact that Yanji just told him about Kichiru joining their group and little journey. He looked over and turned to the new member in their journey with a big smile on his face."Well Kichiru, it's nicety meet you and let's be friends on this journey! and I'll make you a jacket too" he smiled before heading off to his home to acquire his supplies.

Running quickly over to his apartment as quickly as he could, he grabbed some more food in his fridge just in case of emergencies, though most of it was sweets, confections, and other sort of 'foods' of the sweet variety, mostly so that they could enjoy some snacks on the way. Running out and grabbing two large gourds, but ran back inside to grab a small little package, a weapon he had made in his free time and a picnic basket, and then ran back out. Moving over to a vendor and plopping the two gourds on the counter. "Two jugs full please! It's for an exam, and it's gonna be so fun! Er, the Byakko clan told me that they would pay and such, but if not, you know where to find me! " he smiled as the gourds were getting all filled up. He quickly hustled back to the meeting point, albeit a bit slower due to the weight of the water, but he still went at a quick pace. Seeing Kichiru there already, he smiled and placed the gourds down before nodding. "All ready! And I brought something special!" he smiled, getting out his weapon sleeves and putting them on, and flicking his hands out to reveal the three blades. "Ta-daa!" he said happily.
Weapon Name: Zig and Zag
Weapon Description: After giving things some intense thought, Hansame decided that he could have a weapon as well. So he made a set of claws to wear. The weapons themselves are like silver metal sleeves Hansame wears, going up to his elbows, and with three claws protruding from where his knuckles would be. on the hand part, his fingers are covered up in what looks like to be a metal boxing glove, with three slots for where the claws come out. The claws are about 1.5 feet long each and are completely straight, with a curved edge protruding downwards, giving it a hook shape. the claws can be retracted into the sleeves for easier storage.
