Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

The clacking footsteps of Shin's black leather boots echoed through these hollowed halls. His body was coated in simple black denim jeans, a low cut v, and matching black hoodie. His finger traced the walls, creating a small trail of chakra induced moss that emitted soft bioluminescence that shifted in hue from a vibrant red to a soft blue the further it was from Shin. This moss would go all the way back to the Shinobi Academy within the Toraono Dojo where Shin left a note on the front board saying:

"Follow the Glow,
To Darkness Unknown.
Where your Senses Lie,
And you Heart will Die."

It would be at least thirty minutes outside the borders of the moving city before the students would see the hue of the moss changing to the crimson glow. Being the only source of light the students would feel as though the sounds in the darkness were being kept at bay due to the faint light. Movement of stone and skittering of small steps would echoe indefinitely in these tunnels. For most, these tunnels would be unfamiliar territory and wandering away from the light into the darkness would surely result in death. What the students didn't know though, as they were following the moss they would find themselves walking through toxic spores being emitted by the moss, under the control of Shin. As a Twilight Sage, Shin has the ability to emit genjutsu even when he isn't present to those around him.

By the time the students would find where Shin was standing, in an blank and open cavern, their first sense would already be affected. The sense of sound. Auditory illusions would fill their mind. Whispers of deceit and threats, broken promises and lies, warnings and encouragement. Enough near silent whispers to make the standard citizen go mad and run off into the darkness of the abandonded sandworm tunnels.

After their encounter with Shin, Kusari jumped at the chance to attend a class ran by the walking legend. Maybe thr youth was hyping the Sennin up a little too much, but it wasn't often that you got to learn under a high ranker like Shin. Either way, Kusari took a minute to think about the message on the board. It was odd, and a little foreboding. Being lead into the darkness and knowing your senses would fail you?

A lesson on illusion had never been more obvious, but the threat about your heart dying? Was it literal or metaphorical? They had been thinking it over the entire time they walked the path, though they slowly felt their anxiety creeping up their back

Around half-way down the path, they tensed at a distant skittering sound before brushing it off as some wildlife causing a small rock slide. It was common enough on the outskirts to have animals scrabbling around, but something made their teeth itch. They couldn't shrug it off either, no matter how hard they tried.

The teen trudged on into the darkness, the chain around their hand gently tinkling as they wandered along, coming up to the section when the colour of the moss changed. Did that mean something? We're they close to their destination?

As Shin sensed Kusari approach, it would seem they were the only student willing to make it this far out of the village for a lesson with the previous Kazekage. He let out a sigh of disappointment. Has the shift to the subterranean life cause this much fear and anxiety into the next generation of shinobi in Sunagakure no Sato?

`I am sorry child, but it appears you'll be going through this life ending journey on your own.`

Raising his hands to make a series of handseals he would begin to release the Mental Unbinding forbidden technique that was only practiced by the Sages of the End, those who dwell on the verge of death such as himself.

Recalling upon the locked and sealed tomes, the verbiage used to explain this technique was as followed:
Within every person, every living thing with an active conscious, lays a single thread. The thickness of this thread varies from person to person, depending entirely on their will. Sages of the End are capable of reaching into their opponent's mind, grabbing a hold of it, and snapping that singular metaphorical piece of fabric. While every human is capable of re-threading their own minds eventually, these snaps often cause nervous breakdowns, panic, blind rage, or anything that would reduce their awareness of the Sage's ability to easily coax their brains into further illusions.

Reaching out into the minds of Kusari, Shin would grab the mental thread, as he has spent years mastering this technique managing his own. With a heavy sigh he would pull at the thread until it snapped.

He would wait patiently, keeping a close eye on Kusari's Chakra signature from the shadows of the tunnel, to see how the young child would react to the sudden loss of their sense of Ego and Superego. All that would be left in this moment would be their Id, the instinctual and primal mind. Would they go into a rage? Perhaps an anxious break down?

Shin studied under the tutelage of Senju Kazuki and under his watchful eye Shin learned how to decimate and tear apart his enemies. While this form of study was useful, he learned as he gained experience that the best way to become a shinobi was to face your own short comings and come through them stronger, and if you couldn't... you might as well die.
