It started out as a normal Wednesday, Sabaku had risen well before the early birds had managed to catch a single worm. Sabaku was on his way to one of his favorite diners to enjoy a nice start to his day, breakfast. He never needed anything complicated, just some eggs, ham, toast with a nice cold glass of OJ. Walking into the diner wearing some black slacks and a dark green button up shirt, Sabaku made his way towards an empty table. It was mostly scarce inside, a few other people enjoying some morning coffee. It wasn't long before the waitress strolled by asking the same old question.
The usual hun?
This typical middle aged lady was just like the rest, nice... normal... quiet... as most non-ninja citizens ought to be. Sabaku only came when she was working, in some strange way the repetitiveness brought some sort of comfort to Sabaku.
Yes ma'am, thank you very much Miss Aimi... While you're at it, why don't you pour me a cup of coffee to... I have a feeling it's going to be a long day today...
Without much of a second glance, Aimi flipped over an old brown mug and placed it on a white paper coaster. She fetched the pot of coffee from behind the counter and poured the steaming black liquid into his mug. With fresh coffee in hand and elbows on table, Sabaku stared out the window. It was nearly winter now, as there was frost attempting to buildup on the glass. Sometime later his food had arrived, Fried ham and sunny side up eggs, with some wheat toast, along with his orange juice of coarse. He was halfway through enjoying his meal when he heard an announcement over the diner's radio.
It seems he's at it again folks. Lock up your doors and windows folks. The Maruishi Killer has done it again. Our reports say it was a middle aged man of about 36 years. Killed in the safety of his own home. Take caution citizens! Be Smart, Be safe, this is your local stone news station reporter, Hyang Lee, Ill be looking more into these horrific scenes and will relay any info I get to the public!
Sabaku had heard rumors of such a killer around, he wondered when somebody would do something about it. And just as if his thoughts had willed it into existence, a black crow perched itself outside the window Sabaku was sitting at. Attached to his leg was a small paper scroll. He already had a feeling as to what it was about. So without finishing his meal he chugged the last of his coffee, choking down the bitter taste. Sabaku laid his bill plus tip on the table and headed outside. Lightly grasping the leg of the bird, he untied the scroll and unraveled it.
Report to headquarters immediately, in uniform ready to be dispatched.
Sabaku's face turned to a more serious tone, emphasizing the thoughts that welled up inside his head. He was sure it had something to do with these murders. Without a second delay, Sabaku crumpled and burnt the scroll in his hands using a weak fire jutsu and set off for home. Warping from building to building he arrived at his residence in record time. Throwing open his closet he pressed a small switch behind the frame of the door, revealing a secret door to the back of the closet. Inside laid his custom made white suit. Quickly dressing himself he made his way outside his home and set off for HQ.
Upon Sabaku's arrival at the Anbu Headquarters, he was greeted by a singular shrouded figure behind a desk. Sabaku didn't know the true identity of the individual, but only as "M". He had just assumed it stood for Mission or Mission giver or whatever. None of this was really what he needed to be thinking about in a situation such as this. Shaking his head clear of thoughts, Sabaku addressed "M".
What are my orders sir?
The delivery was always the same, a voiceless visage of a gloved hand sliding over a piece of parchment containing the mission details. Sabaku walked over the desk and retrieved his orders and begun to read. The note stated the obvious, a sequence of murders where the assailant would leave a distinguishable mark on the victims, with little to no trace of other evidence. Below the main body of text was coordinates to the most recent murder. It seemed Sabaku was to fully investigate this string of crime and apprehend the appropriate suspect. Sabaku left the note on the table, letting the shadowy hand pull it back into darkness. Sabaku had his orders, gather Intel and come up with a hypothesis as to the identity and location of said murderer.
