Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Having only been a part of chuunin exam a month or so ago Misa had been blamed for so much minor destruction that the village had grown to be concerned and called upon the Raikage to reprimand Misa for the damage that everyone believed she had been causing, no one knew of the mysterious strange who had been trying to ruin her life and on occasion attempt to kill her.

Standing in the reception area for the raikage’s office Misa was a little bit worried as she had been hearing a lot of the negative words people around the village had been saying about her the past month. When the Raikage was ready to see her she slowly walked into the office, she had been in his office a time or two. As Misa approaches the Raikage’s desk he greets her and tells her that due to all the complaints from around the village she will be reprimanded and instead of spending a stint in lock up she would be doing a couple days of service to the village, to which she just assumed would be unpaid missions but instead it would be her helping out at the hospital which of course wasn’t one of the places she really wanted to hang out at.

Leaving the Raikages office Misa was presented with a scroll of parchment with her instructions to which she would give to one of the Medical ninja at the hospital which she would be working with. Letting out a long exasperated sigh Misa would make her way out of the tower and make her way over to the Hospital to do what she claimed to be boring work.

Walking up a flight of steps Misa now found herself in some sort of reception area. “Uh hey…I have some orders from the Raikage that I am supposed to fulfill here today” Misa told one of the ladies at the reception counter.

Looking at the young girl, the receptionist smiled. “I yes, we heard you would be in today.” She said politely as she took her scroll. “Sit in the waiting area, and a nurse will be by to escort you to the medical chief you’ll be working with today.”

As all reception areas were, Misa was greeted by people currently waiting to be seen. A child coughed in a corner, a elderly couple sitting nearby for what was probably a physical, among others. It wasn’t long before a nurse came by and called her name.

“You’ll be working with our chief resident, Shinrya Kahako.” She said distractedly as she grabbed another chart from the reception area. Reading over the new patient’s information, she walked quickly through the halls, expecting the girl to keep up. “She isn't seeing any patients today, so don’t expect anything too crazy.” After an elevator ride up to a quieter part of the hospital, Misa was directed to two large metal doors and then left alone to enter.

Kahako was sitting with her back to the door when Misa walked in. The room was actually a lab. The walls were lined with shelves of potted plants, sun lamps made their florescent buzzing as they provided artificial light to the greenery. Huddled over what looked to be a large tome, she was quietly muttering to herself. The click of the metal doors closing behind the genin caused the mednin to lose her current concentration Kahako looked over her shoulder. “Ah yes, you must be the genin who is to help me today.” She said standing to greet the girl.

Misa would see dirt on Kahako’s hands. On the table beside the propped tome, several plants sat. Some were still in their pots, while others had been fully uprooted. “I told Ayumu I wasn’t going to need chakra today. That I was just going to do a bit of study.” She sighed. “But he was insistent that I’d have some help just in case, and said he needed to think of ‘the most boring thing possible’ for you.” Kahako sunk a hip before crossing her arms, apparently irked by Raikage’s flippant remark towards her craft. “Like having the ability to save his life is a nuisance… really that man…”

Shaking her head, Kahako smiled. “I am Shinrya Kahako. One of the medical chief here at the Aesculapium. Today you’re going to be helping me make some simple medicines that can be made out in the field. It’s not glorious work, but we’ll both learn a thing or two.” After introductions, Kahako made a hand gesture for Misa to come and sit down on the stool across from hers.

“Now tell me.” She started. “Do you know anything about the plant life native to lightening or wind country?”

When Misa sat down in the reception area she was first greeted by an old couple who were sitting nearby and eventually they were called back for what they explained to her would just be their bi-yearly physicals. It wasn’t long before a nurse came out into the reception area and called for her name and told her she would be working with one of the Medical Chiefs named Kahako, Misa didn’t know this name as this wasn’t somewhere she liked being but had been brought after a few accidents that had befallen her. “So where are they then?” Misa asked before being escorted to the elevator.

After a short elevator ride and noticing someones chakra changing from a blue color to a deep purple then disappearing completely “Say what’s that floor for?” Misa asked “Because I think someone might have just died” She said turning to the nurse and revealing that she had seen it happen with the sharingan “That is…troublesome” She said as the door opened and she escorted Misa quickly down a hall and left her in front of two large metal doors. As the nurse took off probably to investigate the information Misa had mentioned Misa opens both doors and walks in to what could possibly counted as a potted jungle considering how many potted plants there were around this office. “Hello Im Fujitika Misa and the raikage sent me….” Misa would say as she would note that this lady seemed to have been playing with dirt recently.

“Ummm you are playing in that dirt or are you doing some dirt research?” Misa asked as she moves closer to the woman in the office who had mentioned that she did not need chakra today and mentioned that the raikage wanted her to give Misa the most boring work possible. Then Misa became enthralled when the lady introduced herself and asked Misa if there was anything that she knew about the plant life in the area in and around the village to which she clearly knew nothing about other than a tree nearly crushing her. “The Trees are rather fragile and break super easily when I come near them” Misa said, it sounded like a joke but she wasn’t joking at all.

Kahako quirked an eyebrow at the girl and her comment about trees breaking around her. What that a joke? What she attempting to make a joke? The sound in her voice made it sound like she was joking… but her face seemed to portray that she was completely serious. Maybe a strong sense of imagination Lifting a dirty hand, the mednin gently placed it just below her chin. Gently enough so no dirt would accidentally find its way into her mouth. “That is… an unusual occurrence, indeed,” she murmured carefully, still undecided if the girl just had a strange sense of dry humor. She would drop the matter… for the moment.

“But I was talking more along the lines of their medicinal uses,” she continued slowly. Sitting back in her seat, she gestured towards an uprooted plant and newly emptied pot on the table. “Few shinobi pay close attention common methods of medicine, often preferring the instant gratification that comes with the use of medical Jutsu. What they don’t realize, however, is that using chakra like that constantly can shorten their lifespan. And in dangerous situations, they may be too fatigued out in the field to summon the chakra necessary to perform a life-saving jutsu.” Looking back to the book propped next to her, Kahako flipped a page.

“That’s why it’s important, even for non-medical shinobi, to know a few basic wildflowers that may one day save a life. I am trying to learn this myself, so we’ll both be new to this endeavor.” She finished with a smile. Turning another page, Kahako pointed. “Ah-ha.” She said happily, before turning the book towards the gennin so that she could see what Kahako was reading better. “I found what I was looking for. Capsella bursa pastoris, or Hitsujikai no saifu.”

“’A mustard seed commonly used as a supplement in animal feed or as color for cosmetics, it can be used both internally and externally for treatment of skin, locomotor system, cardiovascular system, hemostasis, and gynaecologic problems. Cut the top half of the plant when it has formed its little heart-shaped seed pods and make a tincture with alcohol, which you can use to stop bleeding. Turn it into a slave with other antibiotic components, and it can help stave of infection in the wilderness.’”

Having completed the section she read, Kahako turned to Misa. “I want to try and make some of this for a trip I will be going on soon.” Pointing to the picture of the plant, Kahako pointed to the heart-shaped bulb to single it out. “I want to you start removing the small seeds from this pod. Try not to damage the entire plant. Every bit of this plant from root to stem can be used one way or another.” Moving a few pieces of the plant in from of Misa, Kahako handed her a small paring knife before grabbing one of her own. “Let me know when you’re finished and we’ll move onto the next part.”

Misa stood there for a moment as the medical chief seemed quite perplexed with what Misa had said, She had no idea what kinds of things Misa had experienced with plant life, windows, even the strangest being a chimney.

For a moment Misa started to back up as Kahako starts to approach with her dirt covered hands, but it was a fruitless effort as the Medical chief places her hand on her face and starts to touch it getting the dirt on her face, thankfully though none of it got into her mouth otherwise that would be certainly gross.

Within a few moments Kahako would start explaining some of what she thought every shinobi should need to know about wild plants. “So what you are basically saying is…plants have healing properties that not a lot of people know about? But what about the plants that are poisonous like uhhh what is that one called again, Its some flower that is supposed to make a very potent poison but I can’t actually remember the name of it.” Misa said trying pretty hard to recall the name of the flower but it was probably for the best with her luck that she stay far enough away from it.

Before Misa knew it however she was handed a small knife and a plant and told to remove the seeds from the flower pod and to be careful with it. “Ok So just the seeds from this plant got it” Misa spoke up as she looked at the plant and slowly brought the knife to it where the seed pod was. “Ok I just have to be careful with this” she said to herself as she slowly and gently cuts open the seed pod making sure only to cut where it is safe. Little did she know however she had already made one mistake while cutting it and had already ruined a portion of the seeds.

Kahako hummed in consideration as she focused on her stalks of Shepherd’s purse. “There are many plants when mixed a certain way or with a particular set of items can become a poisonous plant. Look here,” she said flipping a couple pages in the tomb and showing it to Misa. “This plant looks almost exactly like the one we’re cutting up now, but the seeds are a deep red instead of the yellow you see here. Mixed with the same ingredients for a tincture and given to someone over the course of a month will slowly erode the lining in their stomach.” The description below the picture of the plant said the exact same thing. “The only difference between the two plants is the appearance of their seed, roots, and what biome they are native in. Fortunately, what grows in lightening is the kind that helps instead of harms.”

Finished with her neatly cut up pods, Kahako stopped to take a look at Misa’s progress. The mednin grew a few shades whiter. The blade shouldn’t have been so thin as to actually cut into the seed, but Misa managed to do what Kahako thought impossible. She sliced the things so deeply, they split in half. How one accomplishes that with a dull potting knife, Shinbatsu only knew.

What was worse was that the plants belonged to the hospital. She told Misa to be careful because every seed, leaf, and root was meticulously maintained in order to ensure the best potions were made. Which meant they had been genetically altered, which cost money.

Junko was not only going to kill her, but also take the wasted resources out of the Sentou’s already tiny budget. “Thank you, Misa-chan,” Kahako said as she tried her best to pick up the pile. “A little too small for what I’m looking for, but I appreciate the assistance.” Moving to the pile of seeds laid perfectly at her side, Kahako resigned to the fact that instead of three potions, she was only going to have one, maybe two if nothing else went wrong. Well, at least the next part wouldn’t be as difficult.

“Okay, moving onto the next part. Every tincture needs to have a liquid base.” Opening another large book on the table, Kahako turned to a page that she bookmarked before Misa arrived. “This one will be water-based, but we need to make sure it’s boiling before adding anything. Measure out the exact amount of water in this beaker, and bring it to a boil on the burner in the cabinet next to the sink.” Pointing to the basin on the far wall, Misa would see a tall cabinet standing off to the side that was labelled ‘Lab equipment- FOR GREENHOUSE USE ONLY!’

“There is an outlet under this table, bring everything back here and go ahead and start warming the water.” Picking up both books, Kahako turned to the other side of the room to get the next plant that would go into their concoction.

It took Misa a few moment to notice what she had done wrong and while trying to be gentle with the plant she had been cutting she had cut straight through the seeds and cut them right in half “Ok so…im pretty sure this wasn’t supposed to happen, how did I even cut such tiny seeds in half with this rather dull blade anyway!” Misa said as she motions to the plant before handing the rest of it off to Kahako. “I….I…..I am sorry about your plant I…I just don’t know what went wrong.” Misa said trying to apologize.

As Misa kept trying to apologize for the potentially wasted plant before Kahako spoke up again telling her what she would like Misa to do next. “So…fill up this beaker, then go over to that cabinet and get a hotplate and plug it in down there to heat up the water, seems simple enough.” Misa said with a smile as the takes the small glass beaker over to the sink and fills it with water before bringing it back and placing it gently on the table. ‘I can do this Nothing should go wrong.’ Misa thought to herself as a small wind blew in from a window and gently brushed against her, when did a window even get opened.

“Ok I’ve got the hot plate!” Misa cheered as she brought it over and plugged it in, immediately the hot plate would start to heat up as she placed the beaker with water inside over the hot plate, something else came off her vest, something that had blown in on the wind from her secret life ruining person. As the water starts to bubble a tiny amount of particles mixed with the water creating a power acidic solvent, clear as the water but smelling much like rotten eggs. The water continues to heat up the beaker would begin bubbling and the liquid would start flowing over the top causing little splashes of acid to eat away at the counter. “I don’t think water is supposed to do this!” Misa said quickly backing away.

As Misa backed away, the smell and reaction of whatever substance was laced in the water quickly ate away at the seeds, the plant, equipment, and anything unfortunate enough to be sitting on it. Sparks started to fly from the hot plate, as liquid melted and came in contact with wires running hot electricity. Holes started to eat into the wood, and the stench grew so bad, it would certainly call someone on the floor into the room.

In a desperate attempt to get away, Misa’s head bumped against what felt to be something surprisingly soft. It was Kahako chest. With an unpleased look on her face, Kahako stepped around the gennin, and began to make a motion with her hand at the sink in the corner. Loud rattling could be heard through the wall, and suddenly a geyser of water sprung from the faucet tip and towards Kahako’s hand. With the wave of her hand in the air, a kanji symbol made of water formed before the entire geyser shot its way to the rapidly deteriorating wood.

With careful precision, Kahako transformed some of her water into large spikes of ice, scraping at the wood, and carefully diluting whatever it was in the beaker to something less volatile. It took her the better half of five minutes before the substance was properly cooled and diluted to the point of no longer wanting to eat through everything.

With the entire project a resting disaster sitting in a steel bucket, Kahako stood in front of the gennin with her arms crossed and her foot tapping. “Alright, explain.” She said quietly trying to keep her temper in check.

As Misa tried to get away from the disaster she had seemed to cause she seemed to bump into something soft without realizing what it was at first until she looks up into the face of Kahako and realizes she is at chest height. “I…Im sorry I didn’t want whatever this is to happen, I filled the beaker with water like you asked and then plugged the thing in and let the water heat up” Misa started to explain as Kahako stepped around her and started to deal with the melting everything in the room by quickly cooling down the liquids that seemed to be highly acidic.

Once the crisis was adverted Kahako seemed to be fuming now and turned to Misa with a look of anger and told her to explain. “As I said I don’t know why this happened! Things like this happen around me all the time, Like the trees snapping, a boulder nearly crushing me, I mean I saw a guy nearby once but I doubt he really had anything to do with it because he wasn’t near the branch when it hit me in the top of my head and I know he was not around when that wall nearly crushed me recently. So I guess I just have a really power streak of bad luck huh” Misa said noting that it was already mid-day.

Kahako pinched the bridge of her nose and breathed a heavy sigh at Misa’s explanation. Upset that her project was a complete disaster, she realized that she needed to distance herself before she said something to the girl that the mednin was going to regret.

She didn’t really believe in such a thing as unfortunately bad luck, so this… she turned her head to the now completely destroyed equipment. (Yup… this was coming directly out of her budget, she sobbed internally. And she here wanted to try to give Osu a raise, too.) “I don’t believe in ‘bad luck’ Misa, or something of this magnitude coming from a series of unfortunate circumstances.” Walking over to the closet, Kahako grabbed a broom and trash bag before looking out the window. Nothing and no one was there. Firmly shutting and locking the glass, she walked back over to Misa and handed the items to her.

“Clean this up, and consider your community service complete. I will send message to the Raikage’s office letting him know.” Moving to the door, Kahako paused before exiting. “And Misa-chan… should you ever encounter yourself seeing this man again, try to get a good look at him and report him to the authorities. Chakra can be manifested in many ways, and oftentimes you may not see it being used.”

Once outside the room, Kahako pulled out her hospital tablet and draft a series of messages to various persons of interest. Despite her ire, it worried Kahako that Misa was possibly being harassed. Whether it was malicious intent or for the stalker’s amusement, Kahako found it disturbing.

Ayumu,
Please be advised that genin Fujitika Misa has completed her community service as per your request. Should you find yourself inclined to send me non-medically trained shinobi again, you will also be inclined to find yourself without a fiancé.

So… about that request I put in last week for a raise in Osu’s pay and vacation time… yeah… please deny it. I’m about to send you a list of items that needs to be replaced in the research department’s greenhouse…

Also… If the name Fujitika Misa ever comes across your desk for a potential mednin in training position… she’s going in your department.

Hello,

I would like to submit a request for the gennin, Fujitika Misa, to be investigated under suspicions that a person with malicious intent may be stalking her. Please assign this for chunin level or higher, as what occurs around the girl is both strange and potentially dangerous.

Regards,
Shinrya Kahako,
Medical-chief of Kumogakure.

Misa had told the truth and had always assumed that she just had bad luck but the way that Kahako had spoken it sounded like she might believe that the guy Misa had seen might be the culprit. “Fine its my mess so ill clean it up” Misa said as she would take the broom that Kahako handed to her and begins cleaning up the room. Until she was done half an hour later and left
