Cooking 101, an elementary class but one that Jinzo’s siblings had been begging him to take. It seemed that for all of his ability to recreate what he saw, he lacked the ability to create something new and from scratch. His siblings were growing tired of the same repeated meals, despite the fact that they were quite delicious. Willing to learn something new, Jinzo signed up for a cooking class inbetween missions in order to try and figure out just what he was missing. From the cookbook that his mother had left behind, he figured that he should have had the basics down, but apparently he still had much to learn.
A dash of salt here, a sprinkle of pepper there. Many of the techniques that the instructor taught were things that Jinzo already knew, but as the class went on, the teacher began to speak more and more about the certain spark that was inside each and every cook, that thing that helped to direct their actions even when a conventional recipe might have instructed otherwise. Somewhat lost in his own thoughts, Jinzo wondered if that was what he was missing, that certain spark, but he didn’t have time to linger on it because the lesson was quickly moving along and he needed to keep up. On his way home, he stopped by the local shop and decided to buy new ingredients instead of the same ones that he had bought before. Surely his siblings would appreciate him spicing things up with some ingredients from villages and cities afar.
