Crater City... rumor has it that this once wretched landscape used to be a part of a larger and far more vibrant Konohagakure, but Saburo has his doubts. For example, if this was once considered Konoha, why would the village choose to tear away at its own borders in order to expunge the area from any record books? I mean, yeah... Crater City has its share of criminals, but is that enough to warrant losing such a large swath of land? The old-timers speak of a time when great red lions stood guard over the district, but now the area often referred to as Wall's End is also at the end of its rope. No one from inside of Leaf bothers to come out here anymore and those that need medical attention have to make do with what they can find.
No, this is not now, nor was it ever Konohagakure; the Daimyo made sure of that. Saburo, though... he was going to change all that.
"Alright, guys! You're doing wonderfully!"
The first beams of what would come to be known as the Crater City Casino were being lowered into position. Men stood around, drinking sake and having a grand old time, but when it came their time to pitch in there was not a person in the city unwilling to help this grand venture of Saburo's. After all, kind of like the stories that ran amok about Crater City being considered Konoha, so too were there stories of the Himuras and their exploits in the shinobi/ samurai wars from before the kid's time. Saburo might not feel the same way these convicts and crater kids did when it came to his folks (he knew better), but he was not the sort to pass up cheap labor.
"Just remember, this is going to be our crowned jewel. Tourism is dead thanks to the Daimyo, sure... but Konohagakure will swell with pride once it sees our ambition! You say Red Lion, but I say Red Line! We will be the reason outsiders swarm to the city! Crater City will be prosperous once more!"
Saburo tried to make sure his troops stayed rallied, but it was tough. He still wasn't one hundred percent from his time spent in the daimyo's prisons and using the power his Kaguya bloodline affords him causes the young shinobi great pain. Still, the bone fluting he's applying to the exterior walls does look pretty sharp. Saburo believes it will all be worth it, once the first visitors lay eyes on his creation.
