Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

It's funny how things work out. Yamaguchi Kiseki--no, Yume of pop sensation U<3ME was still, in essence, a dog of the military. It stunted her creativity, her opportunities to further music career, whenever she found herself having to head a mission. Her clothing for such jobs weren't as colourful as she was used to in the entertainment industry. They were dark, plain, and easy to camouflage herself into her surroundings with.

This was really boring, she thought with a pout. Yume absentmindedly played with the Konoha insignia chained around her neck; she found the headband itself tacky to wear, and commissioned herself a necklace of the symbol instead. All she could foresee now is the waiting game.

She needed to finish these damn missions faster so she can get back. There was an interview scheduled in two days, she heard. Her fingers released the pendant that she was playing with. As it fell, smacking softly against her collarbone, her blue eyes flickered to an avarice green. Perhaps a reflection of the leaves around her? Who knows.

As the pendant settled onto her skin, Yume launched into action. There was no time to be tired with chakra use. There was no patience to try and attack with her very average ninjutsu. She was the best with keeping alive, and the art of genjutsu. Why waste time on the others?

She had work to do back at home.

Enchanter (Gen Chakra Style) + Shattered Reality + Mind Crush + Illusionist
The lights dimmed, before spotlights and coloured lasers blasted onto the stage in an epileptic splendour. The crowd went wild, and her appearance wasn't even out yet. At the first beat of booming music, the final spotlight beamed onto Yume and the backup dancers around her.

If the fans weren't wild before, their cheers escalated into hysteria. The more invested of the crowd screamed the fan chant dedicated for U<3ME and her current song, releasing more and more energetic vibes as the performance went on.

"Thank you for coming everyone!" Yume called into her embellished microphone as the concert began winding down. Even so, the yells of the concert goers were slower in their finish. The idol grinned with a cute "tehe!" and waved her arm again towards the sea of faces.

"I'll see you all next time!" she said amidst the enthusiasm. At that, her body began phasing away, disappearing in a burst of light strobes. The stage set dimmed itself as the fans gave out the last of their cheers, applause or groans, and then relit itself into a regular venue. The ushers took over, gradually evacuating the concert attendees out of the venue and guiding them to the merchandise stall, or bowing in thanks and goodbye as they left for home. The stage techs began their clean up of the stage set. All in all, the concert was a grand success.

"Yume..." the manager's voice echoed in her ears faintly.

"What is it, Oppa...?" she replied, tired.

A weight shifted on the sofa within the FiRE E&M lobby. It was definitely after hours; the company building had already been locked up tight for a finished day. The man peered down at the girl, who had an arm over her eyes to shield away the overly bright fluorescent lights. A larger hand pulled away the arm, resulting in a childish whine. Yume rolled over on the sofa, plopping her face squarely into the plush cushions.

"Why did you cast that genjutsu? You're sick. The fans would understand if you postponed or even cancelled."

"Nooo..." Yume groaned in reply, rolling back over. "This was a pretty big concert. I can't just cancel it..."

"So instead you push your already ill body to the limit to create an illusionary concert for the fans." It was more of a statement of cynicism, than a question.

"Better than actually performing and then fainting midway or something. Oppa, give me some credit! My mind is stronger than you think." Yume pouted halfheartedly at him, before turning to her side and shutting her eyes tight. The lights were hurting them.

Willpower
Who exactly had the balls to try casting an illusion on someone who was a master of it herself? Yume stared blankly at the billboard poster of herself promoting some food product. She passed this exact same billboard three times already, and that wasn't on purpose.

She sighed, bringing a hand to her chin looking rather adorably lost and confused. It was odd to think a fan would do this to her. Perhaps, they just wanted to watch her walk around before she disappeared into her elusive home. Maybe they were trying to track her movements, and find that home. Fat load that'd do, but that was a creepy thought.

In the shadows of the alley, a figure gasped as they realised that Yume had disappeared. Before they knew it, it was too late. Her hands were in a certain handsign, as the idol swiftly appeared behind the culprit. Her unseen smile was a familiar look of an old generation - an unwitting mix of innocence and corruption.

"Good night~!"

"Wait just a minute, how I meant to sing while I'm doing a backflip?" Yume asked, scratching her cheek, though she quickly dropped her hand when the choreographer eyed her. Didn't want her to go reporting to the manager that she's been picking at her cheek. That's a no-no. The choreographer shook her head and smiled.

"Aren't you also a shinobi-?"

"Ahh! Shh, shh, shh!"

"No one else is here. Who's gonna eavesdrop or leak it?" the woman asked with a deadpan. The pointed look at the choreographer lead to an exhale of indignation. "Oi, stop looking at me like that, I'm not going to do anything!"

Yume didn't look convinced. "Okaaay..."

Singing wasn't a problem. Backflips weren't a problem. Yume jumped, spun and flipped multiple times without fail. But to do both at the same time? How would that sound any good? Hopping from one foot to the other and back again, Yume quickly stretched her limbs and cracked her neck from side to side. The choreographer grimaced at the sound, but nonetheless also limbered up for another round of practice. Yume was still hopping about.

"Okay, Eonni. I trust you. Show me the way!"

"Sometimes I wonder how you still have energy like this..."

"Come on, let's go!"

It was a high tempo song as well. They ran through the choreography, a number that required precise and quick movements. Yume especially needed to be quick on her toes for the tempo change. This perhaps was the most difficult choreography she had to do. Why did she compose a song like this?

"Oh, shoot! Sorry, Yume-chan!" the choreographer gasped. A misstep on Yume's part caused the spacing between the two to narrow and resulted in the other woman's arm heading straight towards her head. Yume jerked her head back, reflexively gripping onto her choreographer's arm mere centimetres away from her nose.

"That's okay, Eonni! It's my fault, I stepped in the wrong direction."

Let's go again.

Concentrated Focus + Insight
A pair of feet stomped on the hardwood floor, as Yume puffed her cheeks in anger. She turned her nose to the side in indignation and blatantly ignored the protests of her manager. "You can sit there and reflect, Oppa!" was the only reply he got from the girl.

"Yume, release this instant!" he snapped, half scolding her. The other half was in a bit of a panic. Yume had her hands in a definite seal before the manager, easily alluding to what situation she had put him in. Winding tree branches had emerged out of the wall and pinned the manager against the surface, effectively binding him from doing anything or going anywhere.

"Hmph. Tripling my morning practice. Oppa, are you trying to kill me?" Yume exclaimed. The complaint was reasonable, to be honest. Her eyes glanced down to where his hand would be, hidden behind the grip of the illusionary tree branch. "Yah! Don't even think about trying to call for help there! Sit and reflect!"

Her handseal collapsed into fists. The tree branches wriggled, tightening the bind up on him, specifically at the hand she was eyeing."Ow! Ow, ow, ow! Yume, stop that!"

The tiny communicative ear piece dropped onto the ground.

Headset? Check. Microphone? Check. Microphone with batteries in them, though? Um...

"YUME!" The harsh tone of her manager cut through the other side of the inn door like ice. The idol squeaked, almost falling off the bed in fear. Her things tumbled out of her bag, causing her to freeze in her wincing pose. The annoyed voice echoed again into the room.

"R-Right, right! I got it!" Yume called over her shoulder towards the door. Shoving her supplies back into her bag, the girl raced to the door and pulled it open. She met with the manager's frown with a bright smile.

"Okay I'm ready, Oppa!"

The man stared at her before sighing. Crouching down, he picked up a lone battery on the floor. He stood back up, waving the thing in her face. "Really?" he drawled.

Needless to say, the look on his face made sure that she never left unprepared.

The further away the time of her hospitalisation progressed, the more Yume noticed how less... there... she was. Of course, when she more conscious of it, her physical body was just as it was before. It took more effort to be fully physical at the moment due to the shock to the system of losing what she thought was her heritage, despite always running away. She looked to her hands, noting the very faint transparency of her fingertips. Yume wondered if her usual abilities were heavily affected because of this change. After losing her ability to miss with the fabric of the fourth dimension, did it also mess with her ability to hide within the illusions?

"Oppa," she said, while forcibly resting in her bedroom by the aforementioned. "What will happen if I'm sick and can't perform? My illusions are..."

"Gone?" he finished her sentence for her. He shrugged, readjusting his glasses. "I don't know. Have you even tried?"

"It's just... my time warping..."

She sighed, and shook her head. Looking over to her manager, she smiled at him sheepishly. "Can you be my guinea pig?"

A weary and wry look returned at her. "Aren't I always, Kiseki?"

Yume's look darkened, unsure if he used her real name on purpose for this experiment or not. Regardless, it worked. The manager hissed, jumping away from the clone of Yume's likeness. His arm which had accidentally touched the clone felt like it was burning.

Clarity + Sixth Sense
Interestingly, after her brush with death, Yume noticed more things in the physical world that seemed like they really shouldn't even be there. Her subconscious always quipped in the back of her mind whenever an overly concerned fan was stalkin-- following her, warranting her to turn and catch them in the act. Or at least, the enhanced awareness made her manager's job much easier in rerouting their paths.

"E-Excuse me," a young girl approached the idol and manager while they were having lunch at the cafe onsite of the entertainment building. "I'm s-such a fan, Yume-san... can I please have your autograph?" Her clothing was beautifully traditional, a person would wonder if she was an actress for a period drama today. The manager wasn't someone who thought that, instead, he stared at her with a blank coldness, annoyed that she dared to interrupt them for a mere autograph.

"I'm sorry," he bit out with forced politeness. "We're having a lunch break and have no time to be giving out autographs."

"Sure!" Yume chirped instead, throwing the manager off guard.

"Yume!"

"Who am I making this out to?" she continued with a smile, taking the girl's notepad and pen The girl stammered her name and Yume gave her autograph easily. The manager glared at the idol.

"Yume you can't just always stop and give out autographs when asked. This is how we fall behind schedule."

"Oh, this time is an exception," Yume smiled. "I don't want to be cursed."

The fan had disappeared without a trace before he could even turn his attention back to her.
