The Administrative Team would like to make a quick announcement in regards to pinging staff on Discord. For those unaware, we're referring to things like @here, @admin, @bmod, etc etc. Any @(Staff group here) type of thing.
These are not to be used to "speed up" a process or to bypass posting on the forum. Pinging admin for a name change instead of posting a request on the name change topic is rude and disruptive. Several people have Discord on their phones or watches, and have had these devices go off in the middle of work meetings because someone didn't want to post in help. Using it for an emergency (Forum being down, someone hacking the site, a sudden influx of multiple bots posting) is one thing, where an admin promptly responding can make a difference. Name changes, banner changes, modding yen, or answering battle questions are not emergencies and pinging people on staff for those reasons should not happen.
Frivolous use of the ping function can and will result in punishment, up to potentially being removed from the Discord server.
