The gazes of his clanmates were particularly harsh - to them it felt as if he was abandoning them. Yes, he had explained many times that he was moving to another land to strengthen ties, and hopefully get the heat off their backs. They had left Konoha without a plan for the future, and now they were as a ship in a storm. It was his responsibility to steer it properly, and find safe harbour.
But deep down he knew the truth. They would miss him as much as he would miss them.
He folded up his old belongings - his chuunin vest, his medical vestments, his black robe - and placed them carefully into a hidden recess in this, the deepest part of the secret Myakashi clanhold here in Crater City. He would no longer need them. Looking up he glanced at himself in a mirror.
His eyes looked old and tired, blazing red as always, but now with a hint of strain. The dye had done its job, changing his vivid white hair to black - a simple trick but one that drastically changed the way he looked. He couldn’t do much with his pallid skin, but perhaps the trip would add some colour to it. He daren’t reveal his true self until he had left these lands, for the protection of his clan. He and his brothers were wanted men now, and not in the good way.
He looked over towards his pack and the simple wooden staff that lay next to it. It had seemed an age that he and Yong had run through the countryside, but now they would be running for real. The thought both terrified and excited him as he spun the pack onto his back and hefted the staff. One quick glance in the mirror would show him as a simple traveller - nothing left of Myakashi Migoya. A small wooden puppet clambered into the backpack, moving aside the clothes to make a nest.
“Lets go Mikki.”
