Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

The light was different. Everything felt so foreign. The salty, corrupt air of Roenesia no longer lingered on her tongue. She'd forgotten exactly how thin the air was high upon the mountain. Her cold lungs shuddered at every gasp of air. With every heave, she felt herself returning to Cloud. She felt herself become excited and nervous. The time had been too long away. She feared for the changes. So much had changed within her. Would they recognize her? Haruka wanted Masao to stand before the young woman and approve of what she had accomplished, even if she couldn't. Then there was Natsu. Did he think of her, like she had thought of him? Would he be proud of his comrade? Could she be someone he can trust in times to come? She wanted that feeling again. The guilt Haruka bared over her betrayal of his innocent affection had been with her ever since she stepped onto the boat. Hoshikata would never cross her path again, she was confident of this. Everything would unravel if that man did. She had cemented herself as a pure and ambitious soldier of Cloud while on the isle. Still, a weaker part of her remained and it threatened to crack everything that had developed in the Shima woman. If she could even call herself that now...

She would keep that under wraps for now. She had to hide her true power for a little longer. It was not meant to be flaunted in her current state. Whatever had transpired had change the innocent Shima daughter into a cold storm. Her eyes were hardened steel as she climbed the foot path towards the gates of her city. Her trust in the belief that hope would carry her did not waver through the mission. Haruka was still filled with much hope. She hoped to see Natsu. To hold him once again. To hear the beating heart of the Kaguya in tandem with her own racing heart. She hoped to see her village in a strong position. The beating steps of her feet were her only companion as she returned home alone as she had left. Her father's shock would be her greatest reward. He thought he was helping himself to reserve the dormant, obedient daughter by scaring her away from the life she had picked. Harukaze had destroyed what little he had left of his darling princess and replaced it with a violent warrior. Her Shima soul had died, reincarnating within the chill and ice. Her rebirth as a Haku demon would be her greatest triumph when she finally had a hold of herself. Everything about that woman was slipping away. Chipping away at that wall ever so slowly. Would this be enough to settle her soul into contentedness?

The ninja fought against thinking about her mission for just a little while. She needed to clear her thoughts once more. Her eyes traced the scars on her arms and hands that remained from her ordeal. She was quite different in not just mind, but in body as well. The moonlit glow of her skin had darkened if only slightly. Less ghostly than before, but nothing that could merit as a tan. The once ornate hair was replaced. That burning raven hair blew freely against the currents of the wind. She wore less make up, but was still unmistakably beautiful. She was tightly dressed in ragged ANBU uniform that she had taken from the closet of the shack during her stay. Her chest piece was marked with scuffs and cuts against the metal made by steel swords. The lady was gone. Haruka glanced back at all behind her with that usual complacent stare. Her mouth was drawn into a tight line until she finally saw the gates.

"Shima Haruka, Jounin of Kumogakure...Requesting Entrance." She shouted out to the gates hoping that someone soon would appear from the fog.

Hikari had many new duties, and the practice of them all was akin to working muscles she'd not been aware of. Instead of one spotlight, there were many smaller pinpricks which, nonetheless illuminated the new Spymaster. One such pinprick, was a gate guard who had served under her old friend Zaku. This man was a lout, to be sure, but a lout who watched. He saw many things pass through the gates, and many things reenter. He heard conversations and then sometimes, he forgot them. As with any unimportant, ordinary man, this one knew things which Shinobi should be, but were not, privy to, simply because of the nature of their profession which elevated them over the common eye. Hikari now believed that the common eye saw many things that the uncommon missed, and thus, with the lubricating influence of yen, she traded her influence, for knowledge. On this visit- the guard, who, in Hikari's reports, always remained unnamed, names were power, and reports were no substitute for the information gathering process- this unnamed guard had not much to tell her, beside the fact that there was, presently, a beautiful woman, not much older than Hikari, herself. The red haired woman bowed- which delighted the unappreciated guard- and thanked him, before leaping deftly to the ground before the woman.

"Shima Haruka." Hikari greeted, "Welcome home." Although the greeting was warm, reflecting their acquaintanceship, there was a certain coolness to the fiery haired woman which was recognizably off. She paused a moment reflectively. "Shima san... there have been many changes in your absence... but before I inform you of them, I must ask for your passport and identification." After Haruka gave her the passport and Hikari verified her identity, Hikari cleared her throat. "I understand you were close with my uncle, Takaki Masao." She said, pausing for confirmation, "It is with great sadness that I must relay this information, but here goes: He has perished in the line of duty. We have a new Sennin, and Ambassador, and I have been promoted to Spymaster."

Tangles of fire cut through the fog, landing near her with silence. Tanaka Hikari was hard to forget, given her resumè and that mess of bloody hair. A young woman who rose to power and rank within the main branch of Kumogakure with expedient confidence. The ambassador and Haruka had spent time together before as comrades on a mission. She quite enjoyed the girl, and was highly impressed with her skills. She was a natural born leader. The world needed women like that. To Haruka, Hikari was the embodiment of everything the Shima opposed for a young lady. Haruka gave her a stern nod as greeting. Although she wasn't warm with her welcome, Haruka was glad to be greeted by the thunderous warrior. Time had changed both of them greatly. Although, it was unsure if those changes were all for the best. The young Shima gave the passport over to the Santaru without word. The Haku was weary about changes, but it was better to hear about it all at once.

But, she never expected it to be like this. Hikari did little to cushion the fall. Haruka appreciated her method however. All the extras weren't necessary as she processed it all. The cold stare remained, despite that her heart was cracking. She was as poised and as dangerous as when she first the gates, but there was a much less experienced part of her that wanted to scream in rage. "Kumogakure is undoubtedly in a state of bereavement. My confidence will rest in you, as I look to you in the future to guide our village back to glory. I shall be serving as your assistant and the new Sennin. If there is anything I may do for you to ease the burden of responsibility, I will be happy to offer my services tirelessly, Tanaka-Sama."

Masao couldn't leave so soon? What about Natsu? She had to seek him out immediately. Haruka only cared about the...former Spymaster? A sudden panic shook her thoroughly. "What of Do-San? Don't tell me that incompetent fool lost his job." She raised an eyebrow, amused that she secretly still had the ability to insult Natsu on a whim. She feared of his injury deeply. The panic was subsided as she took a cool grip on the world. It was so obvious as to what had happen. "Or should I address him now as Do-Sama?" Haruka was shockingly cavalier towards Hikari's grim message, but it was all she could do. Her time as leader of the ANBU corp on Roenesia had taught her that in the face of your greatest fears and threats, you must stand strong or else everyone around you will fall apart. She could not unravel. She must not. Masao would want this.

She hoped he would be proud of her. This man who was her father for a time, would he have smiled at her return? The insecurity tightened around her chest. It was so hard to stand here and carry on, but she knew it must be. Natsu needed her. Cloud needed her.

The Shima's response was very different from Hikari's. She seemed to completely internalize the information.

"I appreciate your dedication, and I'm sorry for my frank delivery... My uncle's death has... unsettled me." She explained. "I am not myself." She cleared her throat, "I believe in your dedication, of course. Thank you." She bowed her head.

"What of Do-San? Don't tell me that incompetent fool lost his job."

Hikari scoffed, "Do san. He was indeed promoted for his... valor." In many ways Hikari still blamed him for Masao's death. "Fool though he may be, he is now our Sennin as well. Do sama would be most appropriate."

The red haired ninja rapped on the gate twice, and the gate guard opened it for the pair of them. "Fare well, Shima san. I'll look forward to seeing you in the office."

"Oho? That is most surprising news indeed." The corner of her lips pulled into a smirk. The smile only told the red haired ninja that Haruka was up to something. She stood at attention suddenly, clicking her heels together. Her hand swept the air, laying firmly against her chest as she bowed stiffly. "Farewell, Tanaka-Sama." The Haku began to walked towards the gate, but hesitated only to lowly call to the new Spymaster. "Anger makes you more attractive, but it does not truly become you, Tanaka-Sama. Try not to let your grudge against our new master get in your way. The good of Kumogakure demands your cooperation. After all, we are mere tools. It will simply not do to surrender to the follies of emotion." Yes, this is the resolve of Haruka now. She agreed on it in that moment. Her sorrow would be pushed aside. Too many grieved enough for the fallen Masao. She would take the things learned and move on with his spirit apart of her own. She had a new leader to support and her goals were so tangible now. She would not fail to be the perfect soldier and servant of Cloud. Never again. She would not falter. With that last smirk towards the former Ambassador, she calmly strolled off to attend to her own matters.
