Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.
Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.
Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.
The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.
It's been a few days since Kana awoken to her Byakugan. And it is weird. Her whole body is still sore from taken a beating the other day, but she sure showed those punks a lesson. Now... How will she actually fit the bill of tough?
She focused and tried to activate her Byakugan, but it was to no avail. She had to think. Why is it that she has failed to bring forth her Hyuuga heritage after the fact that she activated it once? Well... That's why she was here, now is it. She figured that her Byakugan only activated since she was in a life or death situation, so it happened naturally.
So that's why she is here. To be able to bring forth her powers in a stressful way, but hopefully not anything too stressful that makes her want to curl up in a ball... And there better not be any bugs. Eesh why do those things have to be all creepy and crawly? She continued to think to herself as she walked around aimlessly, waiting for something to happen.
Hikaru jogged over to the girl, calling, “Heeeey!” and waving an arm to get her attention. She had spotted her on her way into the forest to prepare the area for her upcoming class, and had immediately recalled Sai’s warning of dangerous unidentified creatures cropping up around the area. If it was enough to call the safety of a Medical Chief accompanying a group of students and Genin into question, it would absolutely apply to a lone student. She had hesitated for only a moment, briefly entertaining the wild thought that she actually was the monster, before rushing over to speak to the girl.
The Mednin stopped next to the student, pausing to catch her breath for a moment. She began, “The forest can be a dangerous place, you know. Did you have a good reason for coming here alone, or did you just get lost?” She flicked her gaze around the area once, and, finding nothing threatening, let out a sigh. “I’m Miyazaki Hikaru, one of the Leaf’s Medical chiefs. I’m always happy to meet a new student, even if they happen to be wandering around one of the most treacherous places in the village.” She gave the girl a slight smile, checking the foliage around them once more for signs of unrest. “What’s your name? And,” she added, raising her eyebrows, “what makes you think you can take on the forest? Seriously, I’m curious- we’ve had some pretty rowdy Academy students before, but not many of them have just waltzed into the Forest of Death like this.” She meant it. She hadn’t set foot in the forest herself until she had become a Genin… if a student was brave enough to go wandering around here, however unwise that might be, they were at least worth keeping an eye on.
Kana's first thought was 'Eeep!' In reality she took all her nerve to steel herself to come here. Though she didn't know if she made a sound, but she surely jumped.
Angry with herself, she fixed her hat and stared at the woman before her, unknowingly activating her Byakugan. She grew a little bit dizzy from now seeing everywhere, when just a few minutes ago she couldn't. She shook her head and the dizziness went away. But her Byakugan was still active. The woman seemed to be a little out of breath, but fine. She then warned Kana that the forest was a dangerous place to be.
And almost immediately, the girl came up with a snarky comment, "Well I'm a dangerous girl, so I guess this place fits me fine." She had to mentally train herself to come up with snarky comments on the spot to deal with people who would want to insult her or treat her like just a little girl. "As for why I'm here, I..." She just realized that now her Byakugan was actually active. And she just happened to see a bug a few feet behind her, nothing to terrifying, just a small little beetle, but all she could think of was "Ah!!!! Bug!" She whipped around and jumped away from the small beetle.
The little Hyuuga just realized that she just lost her composure, her act was gone. "I- I mean what bug? My name? Hyuuga Kana. And you didn't see me just freak out about a bug just now. There's no bugs here." Her Byakugan finally deactivated so she wouldn't have to see anymore of the creepy crawlies around, as long as they don't get any closer.
And finally the older woman, known now as Hikaru, asked her why she thinks she can take on the forest. Kana thought back to her own reasoning of being here. "Because I have to prove that just because I'm a little girl, it doesn't mean I should be treated as one. Besides. I'm training my Byakugan."
After the whole fight in the ancient forest, he decided to again show up at the forest of death again in protest. That coin really did a number on him, cracked his skill and got a minor concussion but did he care about getting into trouble again? Hell no! Hillbilly stunt devil Wokou was too dumb to die! 'Now where is that slingshot, ah'm fixinn-ta shoot myself at thuh hokayge rawk again.' he chuckled, smiling a huge smile which was adored with a chipped tooth. He suddenly heard some voices, making a dash for a bush in which the hillbilly peaked out of not wanting to get that crazy-hippy-heffer-hokage on his case again about the tree's sons. As the hillbilly peaked through the bushes he saw two girls making conversation with each other. The fury built up within him as he watched the old lady talk to another girl around his age. This was totally unfair.
'Thair were four men here in thayse woods, 'avin' fun and we all gawt kicked out awf hair whe-yn we were caught! But the gal wonders aroun' here an thay git a military escort through thayse woods! I done knew thayse women were nothing but trouble!' he was furious at the hypocrisy happening here. This country was built by men! Now that the hokage just so happened to be a woman the girls here thought they will do anything they want? No way! He won't stand for it. If he was going to be kicked out of this forest then this young academy student girl HAD to go too! He'll take his lumps from the old lady later but right now this hillbilly stunt devil was about to man up and deliver some vigilante justice by kicking this heffer out of the forest himself! He won't take pleasure in it but the wrath of the law came down on him like the cold rain and he'll deliver justice fairly.
Wokou stomped his way towards the pair, filthy and covered in bandages as he kept his rage in check for now as he slowed his stomping to stop then looked towards the old lady. He looked up at Hikaru, disgusted with her handling of the female academy student but nonetheless tipped his top hat at the lady. "Howdy." He said before looking at the hyuuga girl with his arms folded trying to act as cool and collected as a sheriff. "Now ah don't tay-uk pleasure in doin' this t' jus' a lil' young lady but ain't no children supposed t' be in thayse woods" he said with a straight look, grabbing onto his belt like he saw the sheriff's do to make it look like he was serious and truth be told he was very serious. A tumbleweed rolled behind the young hillbilly, feeling like he was on one of them western stands as he stared Kana with a red circle welt on his forehead that was still healing. "Now ah reckon ya git out befo-wr ah git maah daddy's bullwhip and put the fear of god inta' you, ya lowly heffer!"
Hikaru watched as the girl’s Byakugan flared to life, and her eyebrows rose once more. Judging from her reaction, she had just startled the student, but she didn’t know many people that instinctively used their doujutsu like this. A brief apology to the girl was on the tip of her tongue, but the Hyuuga spoke before she had the chance. She had talked about rowdy Academy students earlier… it looked like this girl was no exception. Although, as she leapt backwards at the sight of a beetle in the grass, a slight smile appeared on the Mednin’s face. The girl gave a good reason, and she replied, “Very admirable. I absolutely approve of your commitment to training, however-”
As she spoke, she looked around the brush another time, and to her surprise, another student had appeared. He strode towards the two of them, and Hikaru paused. She didn’t recognise him (although she assumed he was another new student), nor did she return his greeting immediately- she simply watched as the new arrival faced the Hyuuga girl and cited the village rules in a strong accent. The Mednin frowned at his next, more threatening statement, and interjected, “Hey there. Well done for knowing the rules, specifically that Academy students aren’t permitted in the forest without supervision,” she looked at the other student next to her, “but you aren’t doing a good job of following them, either. Neither of you should be wandering into the forest without someone of at least Chuunin-level; not only is it forbidden in the first place, but there have been dangerous creatures roaming around here that, from reports I’ve heard, could absolutely incapacitate you.”
She turned to the Hyuuga girl again. “There are better ways to train than risking your life- you could ask an experienced Shinobi to tutor you, for example. You seem to have good motivation, but you shouldn’t waste it,” she urged. “Same goes for you.” Hikaru looked at the top-hatted newcomer, noticing that he sported a few familiar bruises. “You won’t pass the Genin exam by just knowing the village rules, especially if you don’t follow them afterwards.”
She was very seriously concerned about whatever had wounded the Sennin showing up again as she talked. Though she hadn’t seen the specimen sent in to Keiji’s department yet, she could only imagine… making up her mind, Hikaru pointed in the direction of the forest’s edge. “Ok, you two. I’ll bring you back to the village, on the condition that you find a better place to spend your time. And,” she thought for a moment, “I never got either of your names. I’m Miyazaki Hikaru, again. It’s nice to meet new students, and I hope we can get along! You two should work on getting along, yourselves.” She recalled the boy’s dubious threat to the girl. “Teamwork is an important skill. If there’s one thing I can teach you as a Chief and teacher besides the dangers of the forest, it would be teamwork.” She shot a meaningful look at both of them. “Now let’s go! I can show you a better spot to train, how does that sound?”
Kana listened as the other woman started to speak, though her attention snapped to the nearest sound of feet stomping. And it also seemed the woman noticed too. Kana instinctively activated her Byakugan just to only notice a boy, probably younger than her in a top hat.
She stared unimpressed as the boy tried to scold her and then threaten her in a weird accent. And then, Kana started to snicker. "Little runt if you wanna sound threatening you first have to speak actual words or else nobody will understand you. I only understood part of what you said, and I don't take lightly to threats. Especially from some hillbilly half sized pints that are hypocrites."
Kana folded her arms and turned away from the half pint, still keeping her Byakugan active. She totally didn't hear a single word the older woman had said until the young Hyuuga heard the woman's voice being directed at her. True, what the woman said was right. Kana was just too headstrong to admit getting help from someone who was more advanced.
The woman then said she'll bring them back to the village as long as they find better places to hang out and spend their time. She also reintroduced herself and claimed that Kana never said her name? What? With a sigh that can only come from a pre teen along with rolling her eyes, Kana said, "Fine. Hi, I'm Hyuuga Kana. I'm new to the Academy Student Anonymous. Now half pint. You make your intro."
She motioned to the runt to say who he is. Hikaru told them that working together was a thing. And teamwork makes the dream work, essentially what she said. But in all honesty, Kana does not see herself ever wanting to work with the half pint that rudely came in with a broken accent and throwing threats her way.
Wokou couldn't believe what was coming out of this little cow's mouth! Now he could take a little disrespect for his country accent since a lot of people have already made fun of it before but she just called him a hippo! Honestly he didn't know what the hell was this fancy word these girls were using like with that other girl saying they were committing tree-son and this girl calling him a hippo-crite but she assumed that this low-down-dirty-heffer was calling him a hippo-critter! "That's some tough tawk comin' from a gal dressin' uhp like a boy like it's 'alloween or sumthing! You should be out pickin' flowers or whatevher ya no daisy female ninja's do instead awf breakin' into maah woods!" the hillbilly yelled, pointing at the girl. "An ya look like ya do drugs with 'em roid eyes ya gawt 'em thair!" he continued to insult Kana until Hikaru intervened, giving the boy praise for his knowing of the rules which in his mind gave him justification in confronting this unladylike heffer. However, she quickly back peddled when saying that neither of them was supposed to be there in which she was right but he was trying to do a stunt!
"Now ah know ah shouldn't be hair but ah was a-fixin' ta' shoot myself at hokayge rawk from hair." He explained since hurting himself was the general idea for coming out here but not just any hurt because he wanted multiple contusions for headbutting the hokage rock from the forest of death! Why? Because pain is funny that's why! Unfortunately the Hikaru went on a fantasy NPC-like speech about how risking your life for training is bad, not really holding the hillbilly's attention since the idiot country boy's eyes became unfocused and he thought about a monkey tap dancing before drooling. He paid attention again when she said something about taking them back towards the village and he wiped his mouth then gave Hikaru a thumbs up. "Sounds daisy."
He was in a less sour mood until the unladylike heffer spoke again who introduced herself with a hint of sass then called him a runt! At this point he was about to go off but he got this soccer mom vibe from Hikaru so he decided to play into that to get the unladylike heffer in trouble or at least scolded. "Now didn't ma ovher hair say we need ta git along, ah air the lungs ya need ta learn beder manners heffer." the hillbilly said as he kicked Kana in the shin before introducing himself. Hawking then spitting on his right hand to hold it up to Hikaru for them to shake, pretending like he didn't just kick Kana. "Wokou Kurū grandma! Stunt dickens an pain specialist hehe.." he laughed with a cheesy smile that revealed his signature chipped tooth in which he was proud of having. Flies then proceeded to buzz around the hillbilly's hand as he waited for Hikaru to shake his hand.
Hikaru frowned as her charges began firing insults at each other. She began walking back towards the village, trusting they would be behind her since neither had voiced any particular objection to leaving. As they went, the Mednin watched the blanket of green surrounding them for any signs of other movement, still very much on edge at the thought of the monsters from the report. If only the students would make just a little less noise… “Hey, quiet down a bit. I want to make sure there’s nothing trailing us…” She got the very distinct impression that neither of them had been listening to her before, and as they traversed the very slowly lightening woods her apprehension began to grow. Pausing, she formed her right hand into a series of seals and a set of clones appeared in a puff of smoke. “This is a Dust-style clone technique- dust clones don’t share the user’s senses as well, but are capable of dispersing and reforming, making them helpful for covering a wider area.” Whether they cared or not, it would hopefully help keep their group safer and better informed. The replicas leapt away, circling their route to safety to check for anything that happened to pop out of the trees. As they made their way through the brush, the Mednin glanced around them once more. The creatures that she was so concerned about had been able to significantly wound Nao, her Sensei and the village’s Medical Sennin. Though she had come a long way in the past few months, she was worryingly unsure if she could even deter one of the monsters for long. Keiji’s lab results couldn’t come soon enough- unfortunately, she wouldn’t have them if one of them attacked their group now. These two were just students… and they were sure making it difficult to concentrate with their bickering.
She frowned again at the boy’s ‘whatevher ya no daisy female ninja's do’ line, and her expression deepened into a scowl as the two of them kept at each other’s throats. The sounds of the forest echoed around them, a constant reminder that these two were in her hands in the possible face of a predator she knew nothing about. Her clone was still using a small percentage of her chakra pool, indicating that it was still active at least. Hikaru gave as measured of a response as she could to the top hat kid’s reason for going bumbling around the forest: “If you want to do something like that, keep it out of the forest. I don’t think you two are fully grasping that there are things that can kill you in here… other than that, go ahead, as long as you don’t damage village property or yourself too badly.” She didn’t fully believe that he could get himself off the ground, although she had heard of crazier things happening before.
The forest was thinning out as they walked, marking the last few hundred paces before they had left completely. The girl introduced herself as Hyuuga Kana rather huffishly, and Hikaru nodded from up ahead. Suddenly, she felt the steady pulls on her chakra cut short, one by one. The Medical Chief shot her gaze around the area, noting that they were practically out of the Forest of Death by now- what had just happened to her clones?! She stopped in her tracks. The students were still trading jabs, but she tried her best to ignore them for the moment. It was unlikely the creatures would pursue them outside of the cover of the trees, although she couldn’t rule it out. They were near enough to the village that if anything were to-
Hikaru’s train of thought was cut short by a sharp motion from the two behind her. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the boy aim a kick at Kana, turning to introduce himself after as Wokou Kurū. The Medical Chief whirled around, her eyes flashing at the two students. A steady breeze picked up as she spoke with stress turning to iron in her voice, “If you two keep insisting on tearing each other apart, you won’t survive another 10 minutes near this forest, let alone make it to Genin.” More clones appeared, one dashing towards the spot the previous set had fallen and the others fanning out to guard the area, the wind curving around them as they went. “You are allies, and as much as it might pain you now, there will come a time where you will have to rely on one another with your lives. But, since you clearly have no problems with rushing headfirst into danger and picking fights,” the breeze picked up even more, flattening the grass at their feet into a ring that encircled the three, “let’s see how you fare in combat. I can’t force you to work together, but I sure as heck can show you what happens if you don’t!” She didn't plan on attacking them at all, actually- she mostly wanted to test what they did in a tense scenario.

The kunoichi held up two fingers, a grin touching her face- this had worked out better than she thought. As long as her clones could warn them if one of the monsters showed up in time for them to escape, she might actually be able to teach these two something worth learning- and stop their arguing for a few minutes, if she was being optimistic. Holding her fingers out, she issued the students a challenge, “If you can land two hits on me, you’re free to go.” Simple as that. She truthfully wasn’t sure if they’d be able to do it or not, but this test wasn’t a pass/fail. She would have plenty of time to watch what they did. Hikaru faced them head-on, ready to offer her first test as Medical Chief of the Combat Division.

Kana was having enough of this runt! Who the hell does he think he is acting all threatening and when she throws insults his way, he gets mad like it's her fault?
The jab at her for dressing the way she does and insisting that she be like other girls and pick flowers really pissed her off. "Your woods!? Pretty sure the village owns this place, not some good for nothing hick who thinks he can do whatever the hell he wants! As for my eyes, who the hell are you to judge? You don't even take care of yourself to patch up your injuries you moron!"
The girl noticed that Hikaru had made clones out of dust, but her thoughts were elsewhere. She was starting to fume mad, her face was probably red. The hillbilly told her off of needing better manners and then he did the unthinkable... He kicked her shins!
All the girl could see was red. She grabbed him by his collar and pushed him to the ground. "Listen here. You don't call me for having bad manners when you start crap yourself. If you ever lay another finger on me, I swear, I will break you and-"
Her voice trailed off. A sudden wind had picked up, and then she heard Hikaru's voice. It didn't sound nice, but almost as if she was stressed and angry at the same time. Kana stepped back from the runt, staring him down but not doing anything as the woman spoke. She spoke of stop fighting each other and learn to be teammates.
The wind picked up even more and Kana had to brace herself, bringing her arms up, surprised at what was happening. Then the woman challenged them to land two hits on her. Adrenaline ran through her. It may be because she was pissed and really wants to fight, because a certain someone, but she thought things through as calmly as she can. It might be good to let out all this pent up anger. Just as long as the hick doesn't try anything...
"Yo half pint. Temporary truce. Get this done and we will never have to see each other again. Sound good?"
The two were pretty much busy bickering, after the hillbilly kicked the unladylike heffer in the shins Kana decided to take it upon themselves to grab him by the collar and tossed him to the ground! The nerve! Here he was trying to manipulate Hikaru to his benefit and this unladylike cattle got physical with him. The hillbilly looked up at Kana with a mean look as the cow began to talk like he started it, if SHE wasn't in the forest none of this would've happened and he'll be on the other side of the village by now. Kana then suddenly cut herself off which made him think that this response was from his mean look. "Ya turnin' yellow already? Haven't eve-yn busted ya yet." He teased but when the hag who was talking npc like got a bit more serious than even Wokou wasn't even expecting. Like, he thought she was one of those geeky-monkey-faced-girly-girl who is too soft on brats, like an awkward soccer mom or just some rado that taught bullcrap about friendship like some pony daycare kinda weirdo. Never in the life of him did he think that he was capable of driving the weirdo up a wall so fast. A gift and a curse.
He flinched when the woman shouted that she was going to test how they would fair in combat, but even he noticed that she could be bluffing. Wokou had a gut feeling that maybe she was literally forcing them to work together and using threats to do it but he knew just what to do… "Psst! Ah thihnk she's bluffing! She ain't gonna do squat ta us so jus' purtey-nd like wer on thuh same team eend she'll be 'appy." He whispered yelled as though Hikaru wasn't even there. Then suddenly he made a quick 180 and acted like he cared deeply for Kana's well being. Deepening his voice to sound cool then proceeded to quote lines from movies. "Ya thihnk ah'm gonna let ya put a hand on my lady ya gawt another thang coming! Ya gonna have ta kill me ta git ta her! Don't worry unladylike heffer ah done won't let this garbayge lay a finger on ya." he honestly didn't know what the hell did that mean, but it sounded cool and hero's always seem to self sacrifice for some girl. Man he should get an acting career after this.

The intensity of the breeze lessened, turning from a force blowing Hikaru’s hair to the side to a steady current that began to encircle the combatants in a translucent ring. She still surprised herself at the degree of control she was able to exert on it passively, but she kept the wind as even as she could to deter any bypassers, monster-like or otherwise. It was quite the relief that the two Students appeared to call a temporary truce, or at least compromise to focus on her before fighting each other again- that had been her goal. She couldn’t be too safe, though.
As soon as she saw the two rise to her challenge, she locked her eyes on them. The Medical ninja rushed forwards, drawing a pattern of seals in the air, and tagged the arm of whichever of them was closer- Kurū. Doubling back, she did the same to Kana, and moments later a certain type of seal circled outwards from the points of contact. It was the Medical Ward technique, adjusted specifically so that each of them could withstand an attack that would otherwise knock them out. They didn’t know that, however… and the Mednin chose to reveal nothing, hoping they would see the action as some kind of attack and continue to focus on her. The seal itself didn’t appear malicious at all; in fact, it had the word ‘Ward’ written right in the middle. But she’d see how they reacted.
Meanwhile, the young Hyuuga drew on a pair of gloves, bearing some resemblance to her own (that she didn’t plan to use for this fight, but that was besides the point). As she guessed 10 seconds had passed, she also noticed the Byakugan flair to life in the girl’s eyes, which would doubtlessly make targeting the Medical Chief a little easier. Suddenly, a thin line of electricity whizzed past Hikaru’s side, and she turned. Kurū stood at its origin, and she began to smile- but then he immediately began running away. “It won’t be that easy!” she called after him, preparing the winds to move once more.

Kana felt a little excitement from this. She can let go of some of this pent up anger that the hillbilly has given her. Speaking of which, at least for now he isn't doing anything to her. Which is fine.
She threw her gloves on, and in that time, she noticed movement going to Kuru, the woman placed some kind of deal on the runt. And then she saw Hikaru coming for her. Naturally, she doesn't want anything that was equally given to the half pint, so she tried to move away, but before she knew it, the older woman was right in front of her and placed what Kana can only think of as the same seal.
Kana backed away as she can and activated her Byakugan. And just as she did it, Kuru seemed to have thrown a jutsu at Hikaru, who dodged it gracefully. And then the half pint did something that made Kana want to pummel him. The runt is trying to escape! The girl really wanted to beat him up, but she decided to keep her end of the bargain up, she won't hit him, just as long as he doesn't try any funny business to her.
When Kuru thought that he was a goner until he got a little medical seal on him which let him know that he was gonna be alright. Confused for a moment, he used the opportunity to toss a thunder-bolt at Hikaru, missing them completely in which he quickly turned and used the chaos to do the most logical thing he thought of so far…… RUN AWAY! Like he just knew a few offensive nin, plus with the speed and the low chakra he had plus the fact they weren’t trying to attack them for now who wouldn’t try to run? Brave as he was, Kuru knew first hand what these high ranks could do first hand from the battle with that hippy hokage themselves… So cutting his losses he did the most logical action he could do and left the unladylike heffer for dead because they were dealing with the impossible. Running past trees, he hopped over a bush then hearing that crazy teamwork loving npc yell to him that it wouldn’t be that easy and he continued to run squealing like a pig.
In the midst of his panic he kinda lost his bearings on where he needed to go to actually leave the forest, getting lost he looked around trying to figure out where the hell was the exit. Cursing under his breath as the wind began to pick up, he decided that he should try to hide since there were plenty of trees and maybe Hikaru won’t like… obliterate him, granted that he still had the medical seal on him… Since he was trying to book it, he quickly ran then slid down underneath a fallen tree trunk and tried to hide to attempt to figure out a way out of these woods!!

Hikaru’s right hand carved a seal into the air as she kept her eyes on the fleeing student. In response, the wind twisted into a thin column around the three of them, closing escape off behind the whipping hurricane. Having successfully confined Kurū to the battle at hand, the Mednin directed her attention towards Kana. She would lecture him about trying to run from a fight later- for now, she wanted to see what the other was capable of. If they continued their truce with one another, she’d be happy to end the test early, even if they weren’t able to hit her.
The girl threw two quick punches at her, which Hikaru was able to sidestep to avoid, her mind back on the present. She attacked again, missing the Medical Chief by a slightly smaller amount. At this rate, they probably wouldn’t be able to do it; especially if Kurū tried to run away again. Turning again towards his direction, she watched the student disappear… or try to, at least. He had hidden himself pretty effectively, for an Academy Student, and it had taken Hikaru a moment to spot where he had concealed himself. Though he wouldn’t be able to escape with the swirling wind surrounding them, had he evaded her notice, he would have been at a sizeable advantage to attack her… she supposed she could applaud the kid for that. Saying nothing, the young woman faced Kana with her eyes on Kurū’s location. They didn’t handle themselves terribly in combat, which was the point of the test; she was proud of the two, as long as neither of them tried anything outlandish.
Well heck... Wind suddenly blew up all around them, it was hard for Kana to focus at what was going on around her. This woman. She's only showing a small amount of her strength, but... Kana is starting to get the feeling that the woman isn't a) not going to hurt them, and because of that, b)not even trying. She would not be on the receiving end of Hikaru actually trying in battle.

Now Kana was starting to get a little bit agitated.

Wind still spun around the trio as the seconds passed… slowly but surely, Hikaru relaxed her grip on the hurricane’s intensity, making her decision. Kana rushed at her once more, a bit quicker, but she neatly stepped back and projected a smooth wall of chakra to halt her advance. Battle was full of the unexpected, and while it had been more of a habitual protective move on her part, perhaps it would help teach that one’s goals weren’t always so clear-cut. “That’s enough,” the Medical Chief called, watching Kurū unsuccessfully try to disappear once more with a half-smile. The swirling air petered out to the light breeze it had been before, and the clearing was still again.
“The conditions of this fight were that you had to hit me twice in order to win. However, I never specified whether that counted for each of you individually or both of you as a team- truthfully, I wanted to see what you would do first before deciding that. Although you didn’t manage to touch me, you were able to shelve your fight with each other to focus on a larger objective, which I am proud of you for. This was simply a test so I could see how you fared in a tense scenario that you didn’t expect… and I believe you both passed. For now, that is.” She looked at each of them, one at a time. “Kana: You are a strong fighter, especially for your level of experience. Because of that, don’t discount the value of teamwork. Your idea of a truce was smart, so remember to communicate with your ally. Kurū: Retreating from battle is often a good option. Avoiding an unnecessary fight or escaping from a pursuing enemy, it’s an important skill to have. However-” her eyes narrowed ever so slightly, “a shinobi never abandons their allies to save themselves. You seem to have some loose sense of justice; use that to put your village first, and recognize the value of your comrades.”
“Well, that concludes my test for you two.” She gestured behind her to the village wall, some 20 meters away: “You’re free to go! Be mindful- if I catch you alone in the forest again, you won’t get away with just a test. For that matter, hope you don’t get caught by anyone else. We have some pretty scary shinobi here…” With that, she gave the students another grin and formed a handseal, and the Medical Ward seals faded like aging paper. Turning, Hikaru started back towards the village, making a mental note to ask Nao about those monsters one more time.
