Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Mission: Down with S.T.U.P.I.D.
Participants: Doi
Rank: A
Mission Premise: "You have been hand-selected for this mission, if you choose to accept. An anti-facist organization called, for a lack of a better word, STUPID has been organized.
  • Students against the
  • Tyranical
  • Union of the
  • People's
  • InDependence
STUPID is a collection of college students who believe that the shinobi world are full of slave-traders and are a form of an oppressive military force. Something you've probably already heard of a million times before. They are expecting to be in the several hundreds. A permit was submitted to stage a demonstration outside of the Raikage tower and it was approved. However, we have reasons to believe, with good intelligence that there might be a terror-like attack caused by a smaller group inside of STUPID. Your job is to infiltrate into the STUPID demonstration and root out whoever might be part of that terror cell. You are not permitted to use lethal force unless they pose harm to civilians. Bring them all down and prevent or stop a terror attack from happening and we will consider this a successful mission. Good luck out there

[Will post an RP here shortly]

Doi finds himself on the outskirts of a large crowd, gathering around the Raikage tower. A group of peaceful protesters holding signs and singing songs mixed with the more boisterous and fervent in their beliefs brandishing megaphones while gathered around the one with the megaphone. A mixture of extremism could be seen from those who are kinda just there to support the faction's beliefs to those who were willing to burn down the city to get their way. [ROLL PERCEPTION: 16 -- PASS] Upon closer inspection, Doi noticed a small group of people, counting at least 15 in number wearing black sweaters, black balaclavas, black gloves, and black boots These individuals walked through the crowds separately but appearing to move completely in tandum with one another. Their appearances look vastly similar with height and body structure to one another making it hard to pin-down which one was which.

As Doi continued through the crowd, he had one of the college students stop him and grab a hold of his shoulders with both of his hands. "Man! This shit is so hype! We're going to bring down the system with our words man! They're definitely going to hear what we have to say, man! Aren't you hyped!?" the college aged, unkempt young man said to Doi as he shook him in excitement. [ROLL INSIGHT: 6 -- FAILED] Doi couldn't tell if the guy was genuine, crazy, or even faking all of this just for the thrill. "C'mon man, get hyped!" he said as she shook Doi once more before releasing him. He threw his hands up in the air and shouted. "Woooo!! Down with the FASCISTS NINJA RULE!!" he shouted in a somewhat inebriated fashion.

After that disruption from the college student, [ROLL PERCEPTION: DIRTY 20] he discovered that there were more than about 15 of those figures. The 15 tripled to about 45, traveling in groups of 3 through the massive crowd, seemingly towards the Raikage tower moving in zig-zagged fashion. The sounds of the protests started to grow louder and louder, demanding for the Raikage to step outside and face them. With his lack of entertaining them, the massive crowd started to grow restless and shouting their desire to turn the village upside down. Things were starting to turn ugly with Doi, the sole member in this mission tasked with dealing with this impending violent protest that was brewing. What does Doi do?

Doi pushed his way through the large crowd while occasionally holding his breath. ‘Man… these are some really smelly folks.’ Nevertheless, the amount of body odor wasn’t too surprising considering the size of the crowd and the age group of the people who made up the majority of its members. All the while, Doi had been making sure to keep an eye on the individuals dressed in all black that were sprinkled among the rowdy crowd.

Once the number of suspicious figures increased, Doi found himself at a bit of a stalemate. He wasn’t sure how he’d manage to subdue such a large amount of people without causing a disruption, but if there was one thing he knew it was not to risk the people in black discovering him. The completion of this task was going to be more difficult than he’d initially thought it would be. It made the adolescent shinobi question why it was the he was chosen for such a task. His skill set was particularly combat oriented. There was an ancient spirit living inside of his head for goodness sake. He was a chakra battery, a ninjutsu specialist, not someone experienced in proper crowd control. It also didn’t help that he wasn’t exactly the smartest cookie in the jar - not that he’d openly admit it to anyone else.

Doi sighed as he decided the most viable option was for him to continue observing from a safe distance. He began to trail behind the nearest group of three, keeping an eye out for any other oddities in their behavior that may arise.

The group in black continued to head towards the Raikage tower, continuing to multiply as they progressed. Several people in the crowd started to shout, "Hey! Watch where you're going, asshole!" as they continued to shove people out of the way, some people even being shoved to the ground. Doi noticed the group that he was tailing behind exhibiting the same behavior; not caring for the livelihood of the crowd around them as they quickly pushed through the crowd. The one in the lead turned around to spot Doi chasing after them before the group of 5 scattered into separate directions. Each of them started to fan out in a different direction with the leader of the group continuing forward. The other groups started to exhibit this same behavior, with one from another group bumping into Doi, shoving him in an attempt to put him on the ground.

"Who are those guys in black?" called one of the females in the large group.

"I don't know, they aren't our Anti-nin group. Who the hell are they?" another voice cried out.

The very presence of this group in black started to cause a bit of unrest and panic in the group of protesters with some trying to get in the way of the leader that Doi was chasing after. With swift movements, the person pulled out a blade and beheaded a couple of the students blocking the way. A shrill cry could be heard from a female before Doi made his way over the now decapitated civilians. "Ninja! We have ninja! Shame them! Shame them!" they said before the crowd got more and more violent, blocking Doi's way between him and the leader that he was following. He finds himself before a wall of people that would block his path.

"We will not break! We will not shatter! Stop the ninja menace! Our LIVES MATTER!" they said in a chant while moving to try to remain in front of Doi. They continued their chant with a blank look on their faces. As Doi is being stopped by this wall of people, he noticed the black-garbed man cutting down other college students to move through the crowd.

Things were starting to get even more troublesome for Doi as the lone mission participant. The crowd he’d been tasked with protecting was already turning against him; the group leader he’d been tailing starting to disappear among the droves of unhappy students. It was startling how quickly they placed the blame on him while the true killer was still among them. A grimace formed on the teen's youthful face as the wall of shouting students blocked his path. He couldn’t figure out the enemies patterns at all - it all seemed so random at first glance, yet one could tell this was all calculated. There had to be a mastermind behind this all, but where could they be? Doi’s frustration levels were beginning to rise.

‘Doi, calm yourself! You’re getting too worked up,’ said the spirit living within the teen’s mind.

‘I’m just a little worried, Shakoo...'

'Have faith in your abilities, child. There’s a reason why you were selected for this,’ Shakoo’s words served to calm Doi some.

Despite the students being completely ordinary civilians, Doi felt quite overwhelmed having so many of them focusing their outrage at him. He had to get out of this tight situation if he were to make any progress in preventing the full on terrorist attack. The adolescent shinobi figured the only way to quickly escape was to head somewhere where the civilians couldn't get in his way.

The sky.

Doi channeled chakra to the soles of his feet and adopted a crouching position. Once prepared, he pushed off against the floor with tremendous force; propelling himself high into the sky. A small wind release jutsu helping to steadily maintain altitude. Doi promptly seized the opportunity to survey the area from above without delay. He immediately picked out the figure he was trailing and prepared to send himself down towards them. However, he wasn't completely sure he had the right person due to all the ones in black possessing identical appearances. What if they were all just clones of the same person?

A moment later, Doi was on path to crash into the figure from above. Optimistically he could apprehend the culprit before anyone else got hurt. He couldn’t stand seeing defenseless civilians get ruthlessly slain without mercy.

oOo

If Doi were to successfully catch up to the culprit, he we would use a swift flying axe kick to knock them out. Usage jutsu among such a large crowd ran the risk of collateral damage. He hoped he could get some info out of this one, but he’ll continue to trail others to find out the groups true plans if unable to.

One of the people that formed the human wall looked up in amazement. "Holy shit, that's cool!" he said about Doi doing a massive jump upwards using wind chakra to propel him upwards. One of the other people in that wall nudged him with an elbow. "Oh, right..." he said as he continued saying that chant from earlier while watching Doi gleefully. It was a super cool move performed by Doi, one that even started to gain admiration from the fence-sitters in the group. He spotted the one he was tailing behind and delivered a crushing kick to the back of the person's head, causing them to fall flat on their face, sliding on the ground about 10 feet. After a brief moment, the figure went "poof" along with 4 other poofs; them being the initial group he was following. His gut instinct was correct; they were clones. The difficult part now is to sus-out the real culprit. Figuring out that he was pursuing clones gave Doi a bit more confidence that he wasn't actually chasing after a large group of masked people but potentially 1 person with a TON of clones.

Upon seeing Doi's heroics, the fence-sitters used this as an opportunity to help Doi and they started to punch out some of the clones, leaving Doi with only 3 bodies left, running through the crowds. Doi's heroics and the fact that he didn't kill anyone started to slowly change the minds of those in the massive crowd. Those that attempted to bother the last remaining three were thrown into the air which gave Doi a good gauge on where they were and how many were left. There were three remaining with 1 being to his left, 1 being to his right, and the final being just ahead (and being the closest of the three) to him.

Before Doi was capable of jumping in, three shinobi wearing powder blue capes jumped the three remaining bodies; two of them resulting in a poof with one resulting in a successful capture of the culprit. The man in black didn't put up any resistance once the shinobi in powder blue showed up. The fact that the man in black just surrendered so easily to the shinobi in powder blue seemed suspicious to Doi.

"Who was the one chasing after this guy?!" shouted the shinobi with the chiseled chin, looking around for the shinobi that was responsible for chasing him down.

Doi breathed a sigh of relief once the crowd began to cheer. Now the tide had changed in his favor, and it was one more thing off of his mind. 'Things should go more smoothly for me with this.' Once most of the enemies were exposed as clones, a combined effort between the teen shinobi and the large crowd of students led to the sharp decline of enemy numbers. The current objective had quickly changed from the neutralization of multiple targets to the capture of a singular culprit. It should have been more difficult to pick out a particular individual from among such a large crowd of people but Doi was confident he could manage; especially considering most of the crowd was now lending its assistance. Eventually, a few oddities caught his attention, and the teen found himself in pursuit of the final three targets; two of which had to have been clones. Yet, a group of suspicious individuals intervened before he was able to apprehend any of the ones that remained.

Who were these people?

Their powder blue gear was not at all familiar to Doi. He was especially concerned that they'd shown up out of what seemed like nowhere and finished his job for him. Had a group of mercenaries been hired in event that he wasn't capable of completing his assigned task? It would've been quite bizarre if it turned out to be so. There should've easily been plenty of shinobi to choose from among the pool of readily available Cloud forces - some of which would have easily been better choices for the mission than he was.

Why bother enlisting the aid of an outside factor?

Doi stepped out from among the crowd in response to the shinobi with the chiseled chin. "That would be me." The teen curiously eyed the new arrivals. "Who are you all?"

"We are a special unit of the Kumogakure Honor Guard. We are the Shinsengumi," the leader stated before he turned to look towards the group as they escorted the prisoner through the crowd. "If you want to be more specific, we are an Anti-Terrorist unit specifically created to combat things like what you saw. We were actually the ones that hired you to pull off this mission. We didn't realize the terrorist would use Kage Bunshin against you, making this much more difficult for you. For that, we apologize. But, since we hired you, we still require your services. Please, come with us," the man said as he sheathed his blade and turned his back towards Doi as the group made their way towards the Shinsengumi base. It was a small building in the Ancient Forest; very non-descriptive but they had to blindfold both Doi and the prisoner through the Ancient Forest; leading Doi with a hand-held rope so he wouldn't lose his way.

Upon entering the building, Doi was instructed to removing his blindfold. Inside, he noticed the building was rather dark with no windows leading to the outside. A small stove could be seen with a kettle on it giving off the only bit of light for the entire building. The other two that the leader had in tow escorted the prisoners down a hatch that lead downstairs; a place that was much more illuminated than the dingy building that was used as the cover for their base. "My men are going to prepare the prisoner. Your job is to interrogate the man on the following questions:
1) Who are you?
2) Who do you work for?
3) What were his objectives during the protest
Fish out answers for each of those questions and build upon them in you need to. He was there for a reason so we need information in regards to it. We'd question him, but we use some rather...
" the man said before pausing for a moment. "Heavy-handed tactics. But you are free to use whatever means you deem necessary be it the 'good cop' angle or even torture. We can accommodate that too if you like," the man said before clearing his throat. The door down the hatch opened and the man from below nodded his head before vanishing back into the hatch.

"It seems it's your turn to go in. It'll be in the second room to the right. We'll be watching and recording what he says. Just get him to confess what he was doing, alright?" he said before opening the hatch for Doi to enter.

Once he enters, he noticed everything was a pristine white. The ceiling was lined in a soft, but bright light. Everything seemed to be immaculate like a hospital and the area underneath the building seemed MUCH bigger than the small hut he was just in. Upon entering the interrogation room, he'd notice the criminal bound to his chair with a single table in front of them. A chair was swung out to the side, seemingly meant for Doi, along with another table holding several tupperware containers. Who knows what might be in there. Once Doi entered the room, the room would be locked behind him. It seemed he was forced to get something out of the prisoner before he was allowed to leave.

'Anti-Terrorist? Shinsengumi?' Doi had never heard of such group existing among the shinobi ranks of Cloud. Still, such an entity would explain why the number of terrorist attacks on government leaders has been remarkably lower than one would expect for a military village of its magnitude.

In any case, it was revealed that these were the people that hired him for this job. How exactly he’d met their qualifications, Doi had no idea. All he’d gotten were some clear-cut instructions via a messenger a few days prior. Not something that necessarily required a physical mission scroll, but it was still strange to not have received one judging from the task’s importance.

Doi was skeptical of following the mysterious group but decided to do so after a moment of internal deliberation. The teen had to see his mission through to the end before he could call it a night - even if he didn’t necessarily want to. He trailed after the group before it reached the point where he would have to proceed blindfolded while gripping a coarse piece rope. Doi initially put up a fight when presented with the garment but conceded, nonetheless. These secretive types wouldn’t be willing to compromise, and an incomplete mission is a failed mission; at least by his standards anyway.

As they walked, Doi could gather a general idea on where they were heading based on the sounds he heard. Judging from the brushing of leaves and the sound of wildlife, they had to be somewhere in the Ancient Forest. Nevertheless, pinpointing an exact spot in the forest would be nigh impossible. It was a very large place, after all. Even he himself — an adventurous teen — had yet to see everything the Ancient Forest had to offer.

Eventually, the group of five came to a halt. This was when one of the three men in blue removed Doi’s blindfold. The first thing the teen laid his eyes upon was the shady looking building in front of them. It gave off some really weird vibes from the outside and to no surprise the inside wasn’t much better. "Uhhh..." There weren’t any windows, and it was pretty dark.

While other men disappeared to a lower level via a hatch on the floor, Doi was given an explanation of what he was supposed to do next. Afterwards, he himself told to head downstairs and follow the others. The teen went over the questions he was given in his head.

1) Who are you?
2) Who do you work for?
3) What were his objectives during the protest

Luckily, these instructions were simple enough. Doi personally had yet to gain any experience in torture, but did not bother to refuse his role. It would’ve been as waste of energy since he'd have to do it anyway.

After starting to descend the steps, it took a moment for his eyes to adjust. The light down here being much brighter than what he’d been exposed to for the last hour or so. Doi ultimately came upon a strangely pristine white room. Judging from this, it was clear to see the entrance on the floor above was meant to throw off any potential passerby. Once the teen entered the room, he flinched as the door was immediately closed shut behind him. “Yikes…” He turned to face the prisoner who was seated at a table in front of him; the criminal bound where he sat. Doi sat down at the chair he’d been presented with and took a deep breath; afterwards hardening his features to appear as serious as possible. “Who are you? Where did you come from?” He observed the captured man’s minor movements.“What were your intentions behind tonight’s events?”

The questions were direct and to the point. The man sat there with the hood still over his head and the black facemask pulled down to reveal his pearly-white skin. A pair of piercing red eyes could be seen with a deathly glare at Doi. The look on his face showed recognition that he knew it was Doi that was chasing after him. He didn't seem too interested in the questions nor the games that Doi wants to play. He had no encouragement to spill the beans and didn't find Doi to be too threatening anyway. It was like he was invulnerable, bullet-proof to any of Doi's words. "You shinobi make me sick. All you do is jump around and abuse the lesser privileged with your power. Those who can't use chakra are the ones who are oppressed in societies now-a-days. You don't value the lives of your own so why should the lives of the weak matter to any of you? We're just food for you all, anyway. So the voice of those that are oppressed by those privileged at birth is sickening. Being born differently shouldn't be the cause to shinobi tyranny. Fascist fucks!" the hooded figure said in a low and angered tone. It was obvious that he has had bad run-ins with shinobi in the past. Perhaps he was wronged by them enough to lead him to this kind of lifestyle.

"Instead of me telling you how I am. Why don't you tell me who you are and what your crimes have been. You're involved in the biggest terrorist organization known to man, the Shinobi Military Complex ran by fascists you all call 'kages'. Fascists in a robe and pointed hat is still a fascist, even if they are loved and admired. Hell, the samurai were right to do what they did to Leaf those many years ago. It's a shame that the BULLSHIT fascists were able to pick themselves up and rebuild. No! True justice happened when Kirigakure froze over. Funny how the saying goes 'When Hell Freezes Over', wouldn't you say? One bullshit factory of the oppressors gone. Sure, it took the blood of the oppressed to make it happen, but it was a small price to pay. I wouldn't mind if something like that happened here. No, it would happen the same way it happened in Konoha. The privileged shinobi escaped while leaving the normal people to either die because of stupid, blind loyalty or get picked up by the power-vacuum left behind," he continued, almost as if liking the sound of his own voice. While he wasn't, exactly, giving Doi the answers he quite wanted, his lips were loose enough to give him a look into his mindscape and why he (himself) was doing something like this.

It was immediately clear to Doi that the culprit did not think too highly of shinobi society. He’d initially figured the man to be more of the quiet type and that he wouldn’t be willing to say a word. Yet, surprisingly it was the opposite. His foul word choice only served to highlight the his less than favorable opinion on ninja life. It wasn’t hard to notice this was a personal topic for the captured criminal.

More importantly, despite his less than favorable choice of words, the masked man wasn’t too far removed from the truth. It was indeed common knowledge that those with chakra capabilities were valued higher than an average civilian, but for Doi this made sense considering the times they were in. Still, this didn’t mean the teen wouldn’t prefer a world where ninjutsu wasn’t just another weapon for combat. It was quite the contrary. Doi decided to let the hooded man continue his spiteful speech as intervening wouldn’t prove very beneficial for his purpose. Especially considering the man was starting to rant and could easily drop some more clues about himself unintentionally.

The masked man went on to casually mention various shinobi related world events; ranging from one’s that were current to even those of the past. Doi himself was aware of most of these events, but was also mindful that his understanding of the events being mention did not expand far beyond lessons at the academy and casual reading. He’d found the information about all of these happenings to be quite 'lacking' unless one was of a high ranking. Most likely this was done on purpose. Why exactly? He knew not.

Once the hooded man had finished his lengthy tirade, a particular detail hadn’t escaped Doi. The criminal spoke as if he were a civilian, but this just did not correspond with what had occurred at the protest. How had he been able to utilize clones - a ninjutsu technique - if he were just a regular person? "I have a question for you..." Doi stared at the hooded culprit while straight faced. "How is it that you were able to use a clone jutsu? Have you received shinobi training in the past? Or..." He paused."Was someone else helping you from behind the scenes? You could’ve had them summon the clones and transform into you.” Doi slammed his palms against the top of the table where they sat. “Are you aware of how many people you killed tonight during your botched attempt at a terrorist attack? Was it all for your twisted idea of justice?!” The teen made sure to emphasize that last part as best he could in order to get his point across. Hopefully it would work.

"You called me cutting down a few hippies a terrorist attack? Why would I feel bad for cutting them down? They, too, could use chakra. They're all shinobi. Privileged with the ability to use chakra but only shout out against it just to have something to shout out about. They have no reason to be there! They just want to fit in! So you really think the S.T.U.P.I.D will make any ACTUAL change with their songs and strange smelling herbs?" the man asked before bursting out into laughter. He doubled-over while still bound to the chair only to throw his head back and stomp his feet upon the ground at what Doi seemed to think was the actual attack. After a few moments of him laughing, he returned to his piercing gaze back towards Doi. "It was the Shadow Clone jutsu. Isn't that what you shinobi call a 'Forbidden Jutsu'? Can't use that kinda magic can ya? And so what if I have the ability to use chakra? So what? SOMEONE has to fight for the people and you don't really think any NORMAL person would stand a chance against you walking, talking, breathing weapons? You must be delusional to think that!" he said before shifting a bit in the chair that he was strapped down to.

A light projection showed up in front of the man with a timer ticking down. The timer had: 03:12:02 on it, ticking down. The numbers might appear backwards to Doi due to sitting across from him. "If I were to perform a terrorist attack, I would have set up bombs. A LOT of them. You actually caught me trying to plant one," he said before the door opened with the lead guy placing the detonator that was found upon the man on the table. "A C4 detonator," he said crossing his arms. "One of my men fished that off of him before bringing him into the room. Now the question is, where are the bombs?" he asked. Upon the detonator, if Doi picked it up, there is a dial on it with numbers hand-written on it counting from 1-4. There was also an emblem of a phoenix crudely carved into the plastic handle.

The masked man laughed once more as he saw the detonator placed upon the table before turning to look back towards Doi. "Well, seems like the cat is out of the bag," he stated. From what Doi could gather, the bombs were on both a time-detonation and a manual detonation. "Go on, press it, and see the fireworks!" he said before letting out a laugh. The counter on the light projection reached: 03:08:59 on it.

"Don't worry. The non-chakra users weren't targeted so take your time looking for the bombs," he said before leaning in. "You have ALL day to figure it out!" he said before laughing hysterically.

There was no doubting that this man was somewhat, if not completely, insane. His outburst was completely expected, but nonetheless unnerving. Doi felt tempted to mentally block out the man’s words lest he himself be infected by its absurdity. Insanity was contagious, right? Alas, despite his internal desires, the teen understood listening to what the masked criminal had to say was important. Especially if they wanted to get anywhere with this interrogation.

The sudden appearance of floating numbers that popped up in front of the captive was a surprise. Doi’s confusion only lasted a few moments as he came to the realization that what he saw was actually a timer. What he could only assume it was for was a bomb judging from the masked man’s words. This assumption was then confirmed by the leader of the Shinsengumi as the man walked into room and brought forth a detonation device. It would appear the situation was much more dire than Doi had initially thought it to be. The teen was able to interpret the timer as displaying ‘three hours’ and some change despite it appearing backwards to him from his position. As he thought it over, Doi came to the conclusion that the detonation device they were in possession of was just for use as a manual override. The timer was obviously preemptively set.

Doi’s primary concern now was where these bombs could’ve been placed. Their captive gave them an important clue in saying that non-chakra users wouldn’t be targeted, BUT how truthful can the word of the deranged be? Nevertheless, it was a decent lead. ‘A place where there was unlikely to be non-chakra users? A place where shinobi gathered?’ Doi snapped his fingers as two locations immediately came to mind. Both the shinobi academy and the Torre Celeste were likely targets for an attack. A place of learning where young chakra users went to hone their skills and the building that held the entire shinobi administrative body. It was almost too easy to single these places out due to how much sense it made.

Besides, even if the masked man was captured at the Torre Celeste prior to planting a bomb, that did not signify he hadn’t already placed a few other explosives in the surrounding area. The teen shot a disapproving look at the masked captive as the man was overtaken by hysterical laughter, afterwards turning to the leader of the Shinsengumi. “I’ll be heading out to try and nip this in the bud as soon as possible. If you could please have someone finish things up here while I’m away and then come help, I would be very grateful.” With this said, Doi sped out of the white room through the now unlocked door and ran up the stairs with haste.

Now outside in the Ancient Forest, Doi noticed it was still dark out but didn’t at all mind. He had lives to save. The issue now was that he wasn’t sure what direction was what. He’d been brought along blindfolded after all. He scratched his head and walked back inside the building. “Could someone lead me back to the village? I don’t want to get lost.”

Doi sped out of the room only for the masked man to turn his eyes towards the leader of the Shinsengumi and let out a laugh. "You think he'll be able to get it done on time? Three hours to find 3 bombs by himself? Unless you are all going to help him. But knowing how selfish you shinobi are, I really doubt it. Good luck," the man said before he started to convulse violently in his chair, turning his face upwards as white foam started to build up, seeping through the cloth mask that covered the bottom half of his face. The man spasmed a few times before going limp; a deranged look scrawled across his face. Upon seeing this, the leader of the Shinsengumi left the body of the man to rot in the room before bolting out of the room.

He ran passed Doi as he made his way upstairs. "No time for pleasantries. We need to go and we need to go now. Follow us," he said as she opened the door to the small hut, that was used as a front for their headquarters, and ran into the Ancient Forest hoping Doi would follow behind. As the two took off through the Ancient Forest, he started to speak to Doi. "The Academy is an obvious choice. Me and my men will take on the Academy and try to find the bomb. You take on another location. Don't use your headset in the area of a bomb or where you think a bomb would be. If it's got a remote trigger, using your headset will set off the bomb. Good luck, Doi," the man said as the two broke into the village proper.

The leader of the Shinsengumi whistled and two other shinobi, the two from earlier, made it to his side and they broke off in the direction of the academy. It was up to Doi to find the other 2 and to disable them or gather them and dump them off into a place where nobody would be hurt. The explosion radius of these bombs were unknown and their destructive power is also unknown. The only thing that is known is that it is current peak hours of activity within the village and failure to find them before the time runs out may result in many casualties.

“Another location?”

Doi watched as the Shinsengumi members quickly took off towards the shinobi academy; the place he’d planned on checking first. The seventeen-year-old teen now had to think of another likely place for a bombing to occur. Doi silently stood at the village entrance as he carefully thought over his remaining options. He’d always considered himself a carefree individual, yet moments like these made it clear he wasn’t as resistant to stress as he had assumed.

So was the plight of an adolescent ninja.

Logically speaking, it would make plenty of sense for a bomb to have been placed near a shinobi clan compound. Most of the inhabitants of these communities were chakra sensitive shinobi, after all; at least as far as the teen knew. There also happened to be a large number of them scattered around the village; checking each one would result in a lot of wasted time for the ones searching. Yet, Doi couldn’t bring himself to believe that this particular bomber would think of doing something on such a small scale.

What that masked lunatic really wanted was to stir unrest and to cause as much pain to the shinobi populace as possible.

This was precisely when a particular detail became clear to the teen Chuunin.

Cloud as an established village definitely had a tremendous amount of regular civilians working in almost all available professions. They were involved in every section of village life. Many worked with the shinobi Main Branch while others worked with the Medical Branch. A select few of these civilians even worked in extensive cooperation with the famed village ANBU. Bluntly speaking, if the bomber’s true intentions were to hurt shinobi without hurting any of these civilians at all - it would’ve been nigh impossible from the start. Doi crossed his arms as he realized he’d been taken the bomber’s words too seriously.

Now he had two places of interest to check out; one being ANBU headquarters and the other being the Kumogakure Hospital.

Jumping into action, Doi wasted no time in running into the village proper and heading for the ANBU HQ. It was traditionally the one place in the village where one could always expect high level shinobi to be gathered at any given time; despite many of its members constantly going out on missions.

Of course, the teen did have his doubts as far as stationed ANBU not noticing a suspicious individual on the premise. It seemed like those guys were always on high alert. Still, this was assuming the masked bomber did not have a way to facilitate going about his task unnoticed.

If Doi were to not find anything at ANBU HQ, the village hospital would immediately be his next stop.

Doi looked high, and Doi looked low as he scoured around for the location to one of the several hidden entrances into the series of underground tunnels the ANBU used. However, he was unable to find anything that would tip him off to the location of a hatch or an entrance into the ANBU lair. He checked and checked and checked until it came time, a half-hour had passed and after having found nothing eluding to the entrance to the ANBU headquarters, he came to the conclusion that: If he couldn't get into the ANBU base, then the masked terrorist couldn't either. He had wasted too much time here and needed to get going pronto. His next destination was the Shinobi Medical Center, also known as the Aesculapium.

The large, imposing white building had people moving in and out of the building without a care in the world. A mixture of shinobi medical nin and civilian physicians could be seen co-mingling with each other. The difference in appearance between the two were vastly contrasting with the medical nin appearing 'combat ready' while the civilians wore the typical medical scrubs and low-gloss low-quarters. Doi pushed through the hospital and searched around, finding nothing in the waiting rooms, nothing at the reception offices, and even got a few strange looks when he went into some of the operating rooms. He eventually found himself in the med-nin break-room. The lights were off and he noticed a flashing red light coming from under one of the tables. Turning on the light caused the flashing red-light to vanish.

After looking under the table, Doi noticed a foot-long rectangular device stuck to the underside of the table-top. It was wrapped with an LED watch attached to it. The amount of time remaining was very close to what the masked man had displayed. There were 3 wires between the electronic watch and the squishy flesh of the C4. A green wire, a blue wire, and a red wire. The green wire appeared to be broken in the middle with the wires frayed out of the 'wound'. Closer inspection would show that it was most definitely not the green wire. The red wire, upon squeezing the rubber casing, felt hollow as if nothing was there. It was up to Doi to disarm this jury-rigged device and move on to the next location.

[OOC: Due to lack of foresight when it came to Civilians working with shinobi, I'll allow 2 locations in a single post this once. But for now on, please use 1 location per post to keep things uniform (after disarming the bomb). Also, as mentioned in discord, change the "Where only ninja go" to "High concentration of ninja". Sorry about that]

After his unsuccessful attempt at searching the ANBU HQ, Doi was very happy to have found the first of the two remaining bombs. It seemed he’d guessed correctly in assuming it would be here at the Aesculapium. He was just about ready to give up his search after all the time he’d spent checking rooms. There was just so many of them, though that was to be expected from such a large medical center.

Doi watched as the numbers shown in the LED display changed; constantly counting down as the moments passed. He was extremely aware of the fact that he had no prior experience in the disarming of bombs. ‘Man, today's been a day full of firsts for me. First time doing an interrogation and now disarming a bomb.’ Doi cracked his knuckles in preparation. ‘Let’s see here…’ A quick review of the makeshift bomb highlighted the three wires connecting the display to the clay-like portion of the C4. The first wire, a green one, looked like a no go at first glance. The second wire also appeared to be a bust, at first glance. This, of course, just left the final remaining wire; the blue one.

Now hopefully disarming the bomb would be just as simple as cutting the right wire.

Doi stood up from under the table and looked around the room in search of a sharp object. He searched every corner in the room but couldn’t find a single item suitable for the task. It was then that a light bulb went off in Doi’s head. He was in a medical institution. One where all kinds of medical practices took place; like surgeries for example. And what was a tool that all surgeons worked with? The ever so trusty scalpel; a deceptively sharp slicing tool. Theoretically, one of those should slice through the wire like butter.

The rushing adolescent ran out of the room and towards the stairs. His destination was the operating room he’d seen on the floor below. Once he arrived at said operating room, it only took a couple of minutes for him to stumble upon where the tools were kept. Doi left the room with a brand-new scalpel in hand afterwards.

Now back at the waiting room on the floor above, the adolescent shinobi ducked under the table and cutt off the blue wire. The LED display briefly exhibited the phrase ERROR before immediately turning off. Doi then went ahead and cut the two remaining wires just to be safe.

Doi relaxed as he was able to work through the most dangerous part of the task. He’d just successfully disarmed an active bomb. Initially, part of him was concerned about the order he’d chosen to cut the wires in. There could’ve been a trick to the suspicious red wire, for all he knew. One where the bomb would immediately go off if it was the first one to be cut. After all, it wasn’t like adding a hollow wire made much sense if it were not to serve a purpose. Especially when the bomber did seem like the type of person to do something so deceptive.

Doi began to carefully remove the clay-like C4 from under the table; gently picking at it with the scalpel in places where it wouldn’t easily detach. After this was done, the teen exited the Aesculapium; Disarmed C4 in hand. He briefly thought over his next course of action before deciding that the village library would be the best place to check next. From the masked bomber’s point of view, it would’ve made sense to target the one place that held centuries of shinobi related knowledge. At least it would've made sense symbolically.

The teen pulled out the headset he was given by the Shinsengumi and turned it on. “Hello? This is Doi. I’ve dealt with the first bomb. I’m going to check the library next after I get rid of it.”

Doi successfully disarmed the make-shift and shoddily put-together explosive ordinance. The weapon powered down, leaving behind a husk of what it used to be. Doi knew that, with a proper electric charge, the weapon could still explode. It was best to take it to the proper people for disposal. He powered on his headset to get into contact with the Shinsengumi and the Shinsengumi responded a few moments later. "Good job. We disabled our bomb as well. If you think the last one is in the library, we'll meet you there. There's a huge book-club and book-signing going on in the library right now. We'll handle evacuation while you find the bomb. Good luck," the Shinsengumi stated before the headset went silent.

A few of the medical students, some shinobi while others civilians walked into the break-room that Doi was at, seeing him hunched over to look at the area beneath the table. "Uh. What are you doing? If you aren't medical personnel, you need to get out of here, dude," said one of the more laid-back medical students. The others that were with them signed-off on what he said and backed him up, each getting more and more aggressive about getting him out of the room.

"Seriously bro. Trying to plant cameras under the tables to look up the nurse's skirts? What a perverted creep," said the 'leader' of this little group. He directed one of the other medical ninja to go look underneath the table with them falling back and turning completely pale. He turned to look at the 'leader' of the group and shouted out. "This guy planted a bomb! Terrorist!!" he shouted out. "Don't be a hero, bros. We need to tell everyone and get the hell outta here!!" the 'leader' said before they all spilled out of the room in a panic. "Like, bros! There's a bomb in the breakroom! Bros! We need to get outta here and stuff!" Doi could hear from a distance.

Well, the hospital was now in a panic, but he could see a window in the break-room leading outside to a courtyard. He could take that way to escape or he could go through the front door if he wanted. One way might cement 'guilt' in him while the other might see him have resistance, making it much more difficult for him to leave the hospital.

“Wait,” Doi yelled out towards the fleeing medical students. “It’s not what it looks like!” The teen continued to call out toward those running away to no avail. They very clearly had no intentions of listening to whatever it was he had to say; much less allow him the chance to properly explain himself. Now alone in the room, Doi looked down at the disarmed explosive he held in his hands. Safe to say the teen was quite surprised to have been spotted; he certainly wasn’t expecting it. It didn’t help that the item he held was extremely incriminating. This was undoubtedly a huge oversight on his end, but alas, hindsight will forever be 20/20. Now he just had to figure out a way to get out of the medical center. No doubt, leaving the conventional way - through the exit on the first floor - was no longer a viable option. Doi could only imagine the hysteria taking place outside the room with people running about in fear. The teen even swore he could hear people yelling to evacuate the building.

Turning to his side, the teen spotted his saving grace. A window at the side of the room that was conveniently open. How had he not noticed it earlier? It must’ve been because he was so fixated on dealing with the bomb that he hadn’t been paying attention to his surroundings. ‘This’ll work.’ Doi walked over to the window and promptly noticed it overlooked the medical center’s courtyard. As long as he could get down there, leaving the premise would be a cake walk.

As such, the teen shinobi wasted no time in jumping out into the courtyard. Luckily, shinobi were trained to the point that small stunts like these were as easy as walking itself.

Once he’d made it to the ground floor, Doi made a mad sprint for the large wall that surrounded the premise. After scaling this wall, the teen leapt onto the roof of a nearby building and began to travel in this fashion; leaping across from building to building. He planned on making a brief stop at the office of Kumogakure’s civilian bomb squad; intent on dropping off the disarmed explosive. Afterwards it was time to check out the village library.

Doi's words seemed to fall on deaf-ears for the medical practitioners. Their eyes saw bomb, their instincts said 'he's a bomber'. This caused panic for more of the younger ones too afraid to confront Doi. Doi started to hear a panic kick-up with older shinobi shouting out 'where is it?' It was at this time that Doi discovered an exit; the wise exit. He jumped out the window and fled the hospital. As soon as he jumped out of the window, the same students came back to the room, pointing inside. "Bros! He should be in there.... Whoa, where'd he gooooo?" the medical student stated. The older shinobi walked in and started to inspect the room for the bomb that was in his hand. After a few moments, they looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders. They turned to look to the younger Medical Student. "Uh, nothing here 'bro'. Have you been taking a trip to the herbology wing again?" they asked, pantomiming the use of certain medical substances.

"No, bro. I'm so not like that. I swear, there was a dude here, bro. He had like... something in his hands and it had a watch on it and wires sticking out of it. Like, bro, I wouldn't make this up," he said as the older shinobi glared at him with judging eyes. They muttered something to themselves before emptying out the room, leaving the 'bro' behind. The medical student noticed the open window and stuck his head out of the window. It was at this time that he saw a glimpse of Doi disappearing. "Bro. I knew I wasn't making that up. Broooooooooo," he said in a final, breathy lamentation.

Doi quickly moved to the local bomb-disposal unit only to have something placed land at the doorstep of the bomb-squad of Kumogakure. As fast as he arrived, he also left; this time he left empty handed. "You gotta fill out paperwork to turn that in~~~" called out a voice to Doi. They didn't get a good look at him, but he didn't have the time to fill out any paperwork. He had 90 minutes to find the final bomb and disarm it or take it as far away as possible before it explodes. He had several options rather than just simply disarming the thing. Creativity would help him through this mission. That and a lot of luck.

Doi walked into the library of Kumogakure with students and people of all ages walking around, reading books and doing research. Doi felt overwhelmed at where the bomb could be. It could be in the books, it could be strapped to one of the book-shelves, it could be bolted down somewhere; anywhere. This was a huge library and finding a small explosive device (with the yield of a 1000 pound bomb) could be anywhere. Doi looked through the shelves, pulling books off to find nothing. This caused several of the people in attendance to 'SHHHH' him. The librarian moved from around her table and approached Doi. He could see that there was a white smear upon her black skirt. Upon closer inspection, it appeared to be a similar material to that of the bomb. Now, the question is, where would Doi think the bomb is?

"Why would you knock down all of the books? Do you know how much of a pain it is to--" the woman said as she continued on-and-on rambling to Doi. His mind was elsewhere, it was to find the bomb and do something about it.
