Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

“Sorry,” Doi said in a hushed tone. He felt a bit sheepish making all this noise in the library. There were signs all over the place requesting that visitors be as quiet as possible while in the building. The teen could only imagine how annoyed the silent readers in his vicinity were at the moment. Maybe he should just outright come out and say there was a bomb in here? In theory, doing so would get people to leave quickly; allowing him to search while making as much noise was he wanted. Though, Doi was well aware this idea would only actually work on paper. More likely than not, the result would've been completely opposite of what was intended.

The resulting unrest would cause a huge disturbance and only make things even harder than they already were. Searching for something so dangerous with crowds people running around in fear for their lives was not a thing Doi was looking forward to experiencing again. The scene at the library was crazy enough. He’d been mistaken for being the bomber.

Making all this noise was a necessary evil in Doi’s mind at this point.

The adolescent shinobi was tipped off to the possible location of the explosive once the librarian decided to confront him. A very particular light colored smear was noticeable on the librarian’s dark skirt. It appeared to be of the same clay-like substance that the other explosive at the medical center was made from. The bomb had to be somewhere where the librarian would’ve come into contact with it. Judging from her current demeanor, she did not appear to be aware of its existence. This served to add additional criteria to the search. Not only would she have had to come into contact with it, but it would have to be somewhere where she wouldn’t notice.

Doi’s first guess was the librarian’s desk. The explosive could’ve been planted under — or in the vicinity — of the desk, and she likely would have been none the wiser; especially if it was well hidden. After all, It wasn’t like most people constantly checked their workplace. Another important thing to note was that there didn't appear to be a distinguishable noise coming from the bombs as far as the teen knew. It would’ve been heard in the usually silent library if there was.

As the woman continued to rant, Doi began to slowly inch away from her. Eventually strolling towards the desk in question.

Doi sneaked away from the librarian who ended up having her attention pulled elsewhere with another clumsy child dropping even more books on themselves, burying themselves in a pile of tomes. She rushed over to help the child that had buried themselves. Doi took this opportunity to look behind the librarian's desk and saw a small blinking red light. Upon closer investigation, he noticed there was a faint timer upon it, reaching 1 hour on-the-dot. This bomb, however, looked extremely complex with well-bundled wires, seemingly hundreds and hundreds of wires wrapped in many different colors. The wiring bundle had several different shades of blue, several different shades of green, red, pink, orange, yellow, white, black, and even some rainbow-colored cables; each counting up to about 20 or 30 for each color upon quick estimation. He also noticed part of the plastique explosive looked smudged, as if pulled to the side with cloth fibers stuck to the sticky material. After the alarm reached the 1 hour mark, the timer started to flash.

Nobody seemed to know the wiser about this. A large influx of people started to pour into the library as a prolific writer started to set up his booth right in front of the librarian's desk. The name of the prolific writer was 'Dingo Ringo'. He wore goofy survivalist gear and Doi could hear, from behind the Librarian's desk, the man practicing his accent. "Krikey!" he said silently over and over again until he got the accent right. He set up a sign as people flocked into the library. Quiet screams of fanfare could be heard with the librarian, who was still helping the boy out of the pile of books give a sharp 'SHHHHH' to those fans. The noise echoed through the library, even causing the timer on the bomb to glitch out for a brief moment. Every time it glitched out, Doi seemed to have lost 3 minutes from the clock.

There were other instances of 'SHHHH' coming from the library, but they didn't set off the clock. It was only when the librarian 'SHHHH' the library that the clock would glitch, taking away precious time from Doi. Doi was in quite a predicament. This bomb was difficult to disarm, every 'SHHH' from the librarian caused an error in the circuitry, causing the bomb to lose 3 more minutes. Doi was now at a cross-roads. However, he still has a little bit of time left before the bomb goes off. His decision may alter the fate of those in attendance or he may be seen as a hero.

[Every post will shave off 30 minutes, so this is a time-sensitive mission. How you dispose of the bombs is entirely up to you. Just state where you think they'll be and I'll decide if you went to the right place]

Doi was getting increasingly nervous every time the timer skipped precious minutes. The constant number of glitches was no laughing matter. He’d managed to deduce that what was causing this strange behavior were the librarian’s attempts at silencing the new arrivals. It wasn’t like the teen could straight up tell the lady to stop, though. She would have no reason to do so unless he explained what was happening. In the case that he did explain, there was no telling how the woman would react to the explosive’s existence. Especially considering how close she was to the explosive without her knowledge, she might just lose it. If only this ‘Dingo Ringo’ fellow had chosen another day to do his little meet and greet...

Oh, well.

Looks like there was no preventing the glitches now. He just had to figure out how to deal with the bomb in a timely manner.

Doi turned his attention back to the explosive. He took in a deep breath before saying, “Yeah, there’s no way I’ll be able to properly disarm this one. Nope.” This bomb was way more complex compared to the one he’d dealt with at the hospital. It looked like this one was made with way more effort. One could assume it was to be much stronger than the other was effect wise. If the thing went off, who knows how much damage it would cause.

Given his situation, it was clear that desperate times called for desperate measures. It wasn’t like the timer was going to freeze and wait for him to learn its inner workings, so that just left the final option.

It was time to make a run for it.

Of course, this meant Doi was going to try and remove the part of the desk where the explosive was attached; afterwards finding running away from the premise in search of a way to dispose of it. Throwing it somewhere where it could detonate without causing much collateral damage would best. The area of Lighting Country where the village was located lacked connection to a seaport, but was full of mountain ranges. Doi was confident he was fast enough to run this barren area without taking up too much time.

The teen grabbed a ruler from the top of the librarian’s desk and channeled chakra to it. The elemental nature he was going to use was that of wind. A while ago, Doi learned a technique that allowed any object to become insanely sharp with the use of wind chakra. It wasn’t as refined as the chakra scalpel technique med-nin used due to its slight instability, but it did the trick. In this particular case, it would work perfectly. The teen peeked over the desk to make sure the librarian was still occupied before proceeding. If she were to prematurely come over and spot him… yikes.

Once Doi confirmed she was still busy, he began to dig into the wooden desk; doing so as silently as he could manage. The result was an oddly shaped hole in an awkward spot of the desk, but he’d successfully managed to carve the bomb out. With it in hand, Doi quickly got up and strolled over towards the library exit. He made sure to take a peculiar route using the large book shelves as cover. In doing so, the teen shinobi was able to leave the premise without being spotted by readers or other library personnel.

Afterwards, he took off towards the edge of the village as fast as he could; using his Storm Mail chakra armor for an additional boost in speed. It wasn’t long before he’d successfully arrived at his destination. Briefly peeking at the explosive’s timer, it displayed that there was still plenty of time to spare. “Finally,” he said to himself. “Now to get rid of this.” After a brief wind up, Doi catapulted the explosive as hard as he into the air as hard as he could above the ravine. While it was airborne, he readied up a fireball jutsu to strike it. The result upon impact was an immense explosion. The shock waves it let forth were incredibly strong. So much so that Doi found it hard to keep his balance despite how far he was from the actual explosion. Once the dust settled, the teen sighed in relief.

This should’ve been the last bomb he was tasked with. It was now time to contact the others.

“Hey, Shinsengumi. It’s Doi... final bomb cleared.” He watched as the smoke from the explosion dispersed. “How are things going on your end?”

With a resounding 'SHHHH' coming from the librarian, the timer on the bomb continued to tick down, leaving Doi feeling desperate in his attempt to remove the bomb from the desk. The use of force was needed, causing another 'SHHH' to come about, causing the timer to tick down even further. This was actually not something Doi would want to see the timer quickly tick it's way towards zero. He made like the wind through the village, holding onto the bomb carefully. As he ran, he saw the timer glitch a couple times before returning to it's regular time. He quickly ran out of the village with one of the gate guards about to stop him, getting in his way. Upon seeing what Doi had in his hand, he quickly moved his shoulders to give room for Doi. "You can do it!!" the man shouted as Doi continued, like a bolt of lightning, to an uninhabited place. The timer was now danger-close.

Upon reaching his destination, he threw the bomb as hard as he could and released a fireball jutsu. The flames engulfed the C-4 charge causing a big explosion, one the size of a house. This caused a huge ball of fire to erupt and sent out a shock wave strong enough to nearly burst Doi's eardrums. The sound reverberated throughout the canyon, being able to hear the explosion for several minutes after the initial burst of sound as it echoed throughout the canyon. There was a rumbling in the mountains from the explosion causing small avalanches in nearby mountains; thankfully the one that Doi was on and the ones near Kumogakure were safe.

A crackling could be heard from his headset, the voices of the Shinsengumi. "Hey, was that you dispatching the last bomb? You alright?" the leader of the Shinsengumi asked. He called out a few more times to ensure Doi was alright and was successful. "We have secured our bomb and the one you dropped off successfully. You did good work. Please meet us at the gate so we can sort out your reward for this mission," said the leader of the Shinsengumi before cutting off the headset.

Meanwhile at the Shinsengumi Headquarters...
The leader of the Shinsengumi was speaking from the interrogation room that Doi had spoken to the prisoner. He shut off his headset as he stared at the body of the prisoner for a moment before the body fell apart into puppet-parts. "Good work" he said as she turned to look towards one of the corners of the rooms, a man appeared from invisibility with bluish lights appearing upon his fingertips. The man nodded his head and disappeared once again. He turned on his headset again, adjusted the frequency to something completely different than what the shinobi of Kumogakure use.

"It's done, Master. Yes. He successfully disabled all of the bombs. Yes. I'm sure the village will begin to trust the Shinsengumi. Yes. Yes. All for the sake of Your Vision, Master," he said before removing the headset from his ear. He had someone to meet with and he can't be late for this meeting. He nodded his head and regained his composure before leaving the room and getting the others to follow him at the gates. Once Doi returns to the village, he'll be greeted by the three Shinsengumi.

A soft beep-like sound came in through Doi’s headset; signifying the end of the wireless connection with the leader of the Shinsengumi. The teen removed the headset after turning it off and stuffed it into his right pocket. It really hadn’t dawned upon him how strange it was for the signal to have been so clear despite being in such a remote area. Wireless communication has gotten way better in the past few years. It’s almost amazing. Doi crossed his arms and smiled as he looked out at the canyon area in satisfaction. “Another job well done,” the teen shinobi said to no one but himself. He mentally took note of how peaceful it felt being alone in uninhabited areas. Hopefully, he’d get this serene feeling a lot more often during his future travels. He just couldn’t wait.

Doi began to wonder what exactly the Shinsengumi’s reward would entail. Safe to say the teen didn’t really read over that part of the mission scroll when it had been given to him. Some sort of financial compensation was likely; after all, most missions involved getting paid a predetermined amount upon successful completion. Doi raised his forearm to his forehead, intent on wiping off some of the sweat that had accumulated. He must’ve pushed himself a bit too hard in trying to get as far away from the village as possible. Looking down at his clothing, the teen also noticed all the dirt that had accumulated on his person. It made sense considering all the stuff he’d kicked up while running as well as everything that was made airborne by the detonation of the bomb. He ran his hands through his white locks to get rid of what had gotten into his hair. Once he felt sufficiently clean, Doi decided upon his next course of action.

”Alright, time to head back.”

The teen began the long walk back towards the village. This time taking the chance to properly observe his surroundings. It felt good knowing he was no longer on a crazy time limit. There were plenty of interesting things to see. Many different flora and fauna thrived in this mountain-like environment.

After the long trek back, Doi came across the village gates. The teen nodded over towards the gate guards he’d ran passed earlier and gave them a thumbs up. He mouthed the phrase ‘all clear’ before proceeding further into the village. It wouldn’t be long before he arrives at the designated meeting location.

The gate-guard that Doi passed earlier noticed the young shinobi's arrival. A response of a nod and a thumbs up was given to him as he responded with the same, but with more vigor! The man nodded his head up and down vigorously while holding his own thumbs up perfectly still. He was glad that Doi made it back alive! This was definitely a story to tell his son after he got off of work. Other gate-guards gathered around and gave the exact same response with each of the gate guards nodding their heads in unison. It seems like Doi has collected a number of fans due to his work as a shinobi and it appeared he gained 3 more fans. A close call and zero casualties was something every shinobi should be proud of.

While Doi observed the bobbing heads of the gate guards, three people wearing powder blue and white haoris showed up with the leader in front of the other two. The man stopped and bowed to Doi. "Good work. Very good work. I'm sure you'll receive a medal of commendation for your achievements today," the leader said before reaching out for a handshake. Whether Doi shook his hand or not was of very little consequence to the leader of the Shinsengumi. He held his hand to the side, as if to reach out for something. One of his subordinates placed a bag of money in his hand and the leader took it. He moved his hand towards Doi to give him the bag of coins.

"Your leadership has been informed of your triumph. But I do want to extend out an invitation to join the Shinsengumi. We need strong and bright young men, like yourself, in our ranks. Think about it, won't you?" He nodded his head and gave a short bow, once again, to the hero of Kumogakure. "Take care of yourself and consider our offer, hm?" the leader asked as he tilted his head to the side briefly before turning on his heels and walked off with his subordinates following behind. They offered their thanks for Doi's work before turning around and walking off with their leader.

Afterward, a crowd of people started to gather at the gates and applauded Doi. They heard of his accomplishments and came to greet, congratulate, and thank him for his work. Even the noisy librarian and the famous Dingo Ringo appeared to thank him. "Crikey! This'll make for a great story! Mind if I use your story for an action book? Of course, I'll be the hero in the story, but I'll be sure to credit you for your damn fine achievement," Dingo Ringo stated, slapping Doi on the back. "We can make MILLIONS off of this book! Maybe with enough money, we can make an action film starring me," he said as he hooked a thumb to himself. "As you! Whatcha say!!!"

During this commotion, the leader of the Shinsengumi got onto his headset and spoke into it. "Yup. The people of the village are eating it up. They know we were involved. Yes. Yes. All for the sake of your vision, Master," he said before the two followers broke apart into smaller puppet-parts and disappeared into his haori. If Doi saw this, the man would simply give him a grin before moving off.

The day is saved thanks to the heroic actions of Doi. But this leaves us with several questions left unanswered! Who are the Shinsengumi? Who is this "Master" that runs them? What is the Master's vision? Find out next time!

Doi felt a bit sheepish as the gate guards showered him with praise. He really didn’t feel like he deserved it all. “It was nothing,” he said as he awkwardly rubbed the back of his head. All he did was run as was run around the village. This wasn’t to say Doi didn’t feel somewhat content with the amount of appreciation he was receiving from those around him at the moment. The teen breifly looked up from the crowd and caught sight of the Shinsengumi approaching. The leader bowed to Doi as a sign of gratitude. “There’s no need to bow,” said the teen in response. “I just did my job. It really wasn't as hard as I'd expected to be at first.” It was always best to display modesty in these sort of situations. "Just happy no one was hurt."

A smiling Doi then shook the man’s outstretched hand. He was then provided with a bag of coins as compensation for his efforts during the mission. Interestingly enough, he was also extended an invitation to join the Shinsengumi. Of course, due to Doi’s aspirations, weighing himself down by joining a special organization in the village just wouldn’t do. The teen decided not to give an immediate response, though. This was to make it look like he’d at least consider the offer.

After the three-man Shinsengumi had accomplished their purpose of congratulating Doi, they began to walk off. The teen was once again left to deal with the group of ecstatic gate guards. Somehow, the librarian and the writer Ringo Dingo from earlier had also shown up. How had they found out about the bomb? He’d made sure to leave that place as stealthy as possible. Someone must’ve went around spreading the news at some point. Strange.

Doi looked up in the direction the Shinsengumi left. In doing so, he was able to catch a glimpse of an odd occurrence. The two ‘members’ of the Shinsengumi besides the ‘leader’ had strangely disappeared. As if noticing Doi’s gaze, the man grinned. The teen knew something was off about those guys from the start, but for two of the three to not be actual people. Doi was surprised.

“What was that?”
