Giant rats. Yes. Giant intelligent rats. The Steward had to deal with perhaps rogue science experiments from Keystone. Who thought it was best to increase the brain size of a rat lacked brains of their own. Sousuke shook his head and prepared for his meeting with these rats of an intellectual sort. The Steward did arm himself accordingly as it was known that these rats were violent. He didn't expect much but still it was best not to be taken off guard.
The negotiation table was not much really. It involved the Steward sitting down cross legged across from three large rats who could have been the size of small dogs if they were to stand on their hind legs. To the Steward's surprise these rats were not from Keystone they were from the surface and they made their way into Suna by what was best described as pure luck. The Steward further listened to their grievances and began to adress them individually. They needed a place to live. That was fine, he could have Uri make them a little conclave that was more or less out of sight. Next came the greivance that was good. Again the Steward offered them something, their stock in food would be quite a bit less, but the Steward did put his foot down when they inquired if they could hunt in Elderwoods. Some of them were quite upset with that, but Sousuke merely gave them the alternative of death as they were going to be ... well tiny amongst the massive animals in the woods. The rate of a successful hunt was ... not favourable. This argument was accepted and then they moved onto the next few topics... which Sousuke was hesitant to agree upon. Most of them involved an attempt to clean up the Grand Galaias through the use of violence, but like with the hunts in Elderwoods Sousuke explained once again that attacking humans was not in their best interest.
The sales of rat poison became a vehement argument. The intellectual rats requested that the substance be banned, and that their lesser cousins be spared. Who knew that rats were so... race wide concerned? The Steward in turn requested that if he were to ban the sale that rats as a whole be allowed to live in their concalve that was to be designed. Most of them then began to argue amongst themselves as their 'rat kind' were superior and that the lesser ones be left to die. Well... that led to a very long and drawn out conversation. Sousuke merely sat there and watched each of the rat elders argue amongst themselves, to his surprise they even got violent amongst each other and then one of them were removed from the conversation by force. Ultimately Sousuke agreed to lessening the production by twenty-five percent, but production could be increased if their lesser brethren were becoming a menace beyond what they usually were.
When it came then to conversing about technology being shared, Sousuke firmly but his foot down. When he did this quite literally. The ground trembled and for that Sousuke apologized as he caused discomfort amongst these Rat Elders. Being that Sousuke was perhaps one of the few highest points of Suna tech innovation he was able to simply state that his secrets were his to keep, in fact he had some of his own tricks he didn't share amongst his own people. This surprised the Rat Elders and they in turn agreed to this, but both parties agreed that ... mutually assured destruction would come if they both proceeded to delve deep into their pockets. The Steward could only raise an eyebrow as he wondered exactly what they had in store for him and his village should the time come to declare war.
Hopefully they wouldn't have to do so.
