Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Daisuke slipped on his lab coat as he entered through the main lobby, eager to get the day started. Since his promotion, he had been walking on air around the hospital. He remembered why he joined the med-nin corps all those years ago and now he had achieved all he wanted from the field. A high ranking position where he would attain a certain level of respect without too much responsibility weighing on his shoulders, this was the reason for Daisuke’s leap into the field or so he liked to tell everyone. In actuality, he joined originally in an attempt to fortify his own skills and raise his survival rate on missions.

He thought he could benefit greatly from knowing medical jutsu, believing it would help protect all that he held dear and he was correct in his assumptions. Joining the field was the best thing that ever happened to him, but now it was time to stop his ascension up the career latter and focus on his last and current position. Thus far, he only took orders and made little progress in becoming better acquainted with the staff and regular patients that resided in and out of the hospital.

He made his way to his office and decided to follow through with a plan he made up while at home. An open door policy for his subordinates and patients for a limited time seemed most appropriate for his situation. He sat at his desk and very nervously made the announcement, “Hello, this is your newly appointed medical chief Kaguya Daisuke. I’m holding an open door policy for his subordinates, patients, and visitors for a limited time today. After all, I’m still new to this. From now to midnight, if you wish to be better a...a...acquainted, yes acquainted with me then p-please stop by for a visit. This is just a meet n' greet kind of thing. Nothing t-t-too serious, so if you're looking to join the medical corps, if you have any questions, complaints, or concerns, and if you just want chat it up a bit then stop on by. It never hurts to have connections in the medical field. Hahahaha. *clears throat* That is all. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to listen to this message and have a great day.” He switched off the intercom and took a few deep breathes. He never was a good public speaker, even when he could not see the audience. After calming his self, he sat out large baskets full of treats and had lots of other refreshments ready on tables near the comfortable couches, all of which came from his extra large in-office pantry. “I wonder who will stop by today?”, he thought patiently awaiting a visitor.

OOC: Sorry for the lateness, work and school is taking up a lot of my time. Anyway, this topic is just a meet n' greet kind of thing. Nothing too serious, so if you're looking to become an MiT or you just want chat it up a bit then stop on by. It never hurts to have connections in the medical field.

Re: Every dog has its day [open]

He walked around the corner, entering the room, his voice calm and relaxed I heard the announcement. How are you finding the new position? It had been his decision that Daisuke had earned the position of mednin chief. He knew it was the right one. Sennin for a while now he himself had settled into his position, and he knew he needed more leaders amongst his shinobi, more Chiefs to work hard for the medical core.

Daisuke had a good history in the branch, he'd transferred later in his shinobi training but had performed admirably.

Kushin was simply in his medical garb, nothing special. If someone weren't to recognise him they'd likely suspect him to be a simple mednin, he was only as old as most of them were anyway.

As I'm sure you've heard about we've created a few squads which require specialist training recently. Have you given any concideration to joining any of them? It was a simple question though whether Daisuke had given much thought to them or not was questionable, especially with the pressure of a new role likely resting on his mind.

Re: Every dog has its day [open]

When the very man that ran the medical branch, Kushin, entered his office to make an inquiry about his career adjustment, Daisuke found his self at a temporary loss for words. While he mistook the man for a simple medical ninja at first glance, he quickly realized his error.

The one Daisuke owed gratitude towards for his new position and power, had casually strolled in. When he wondered who might stop by, he never expected this. He immediately stood up and bowed towards his superior saying, “Kushin-sama! Good day to you sir. I’m adjusting rather well to the position, thank you for asking. May I offer you a plethora of refreshments? There’s plenty to choose from.” Kushin went straight to the point when he asked about which of the newest squads piqued his interest the most. In truth, Daisuke had heard of what the medical sennin intended to do with the medical branch and he felt as though now was the time to make his opinion heard.

Yes sir. I have heard of your intentions through the use of these new squads. It seems you desire to put the medical branch on the offensive rather than its usual defensive position. While I was deeply concerned at first, your ideas have grown on me after much reflection. My initial reaction was that the squads were a bit radical, but I’m beginning to see the significance each squad plays in the grand scheme of things.” he admitted, still on the fence about how he wished to contribute to the restructure of the medical field. For as long as he could remember, the medical branch HQ was always the hospital. Every med-nin in training performed grunt work, every med-nin was assigned to the operation, research, or general medical practice groups, and the chiefs supervised everything while the sennin managed the entire branch overall.

"I like to think of myself as a well rounded person. A jack of all trades, so to speak. Prior to the promotion, I’d sneak in a rotation between research and standard medical practice. The operation group always made me nervous though. And after hearing about the new groups being assembled, I have to ask. All of them are just so tempting. Would you think it greedy of me to ask if I could do a rotation between the groups? To test the waters? I have no particular favorite so I’ll be content wherever I am assigned. And regardless of where I end up, I’m willing to be trained for the other squads as well…just in case I’m needed. Sir, I..." he said pausing a moment to reflect.

When the kaguya first came to cloud, he wanted to make a difference somehow. He wanted to protect everything he held dear and he he joined the shinobi program. He was motivated by the lust for power, but when he achieved it at jounin level he found him self left with no satisfied feeling whatsoever. He felt lost instead. A shinobi with no purpose in a sense. For all the fighting and lives he took in missions, he felt no remorse for the gulity. But for anyone innocent that he might have inadvertently wronged, he wanted to make amends. For this reason, he joined the medical corps and he has never been happier. And now Kushin has given Daisuke an amazing opportunity. "Sir, I intend to make the most of the opportunity you gave me."

Daisuke then patiently waited for Kushin’s response all the while wondering, “Did I say too much? Perhaps I should not have revealed what I first thought of his plans. While the research, operation, and general practice groups matched nicely with the Sentou Henkan, Harvesters, and Youritsu respectively, only two of the newer squads were in the business of saving lives. The other was still the most important of the three however.

Re: Every dog has its day [open]

[OOC: sorry was letting anyone else choose to join]

Kushin waved his hand slowly, gesturing a decline to the refreashments No, but thank you. He said.

Daisuke then went and answered his own question to which Kushin listened. It amused Kushin that he wanted to be a part of all the squads, but kind of understandable. Tho he'd likely never be part of the core group of Kushin's own, he could see how sending Daisuke out on those missions from time to time would benefit the medical branches affiliations with the other branches.

That is fine. There have been changes to my initial proposal anyway. As usual I needed to clear things through the right channels and we came to disagreements and eventually found a middle ground. My prior discussion with the ANBU were misinterpretted it seems. They're more for a combined unit where their own works with different mednin from time to time in the more gruelling missions. Looking at his watch he realised he had to go.

Sorry, I only popped in to make sure you were well. I have a task at the tower I need to take care of. The swap of Hayata Shin for Shiranai was taking place shortly, he was to be there to make sure that neither died. He didn't like the idea that he'd be in mortal danger, but then again that was his job and he would face it with his usual contempt.

I will be in contact. Based on what you've said I'm sure you would be interested in getting more involved. He nodded before leaving the office. He did hope others would arrive to speak with Daisuke, the man was probably the best chance they had at having a normal kind of leadership.

{topic left - I'm hoping by doing this others will join. I'll work on some mission ideas and such, but in the mean time contact Masao and he'll give you something to do in the Event arcs that are going on atm}

Re: Every dog has its day [open]

OOC: sorry, laptop was acting weird last two days. I'll pm maseo soon. also, Higa Kahako has requested interest in the topic so I'll keep this open for another week or so for others to join.

While his boss declined a snack, Daisuke didn’t hesitate to grab some lemon iced tea and cookies. It seemed his prior doubts went unjustified as the sennin went on to explain his opinion on the matter. A wave of relief washed over him as Kushin explained the changes made to his proposal. Daisuke didn’t mind however as he viewed every group as a piece of a great puzzle. Certain pieces may shift and change, but at the end of the day they all fit together. And even if they didn’t, he could take comfort in knowing that they were at one time a perfect fit. Others might have viewed something like what Kushin described as what is sure to be known in the future as office politics.

Still, working with the anbu and regular shinobi on mission could prove beneficial for Daisuke’s experience overall as a shinobi and even spread his influence over other branches. This was sure to be referred to in the distant sure as establishing connections. It came to no surprise that Kushin had to go shortly after he arrived. Thus was the life as a sennin. With a few words and a nod, he was gone. Daisuke slowly returned to his seat, a saucer to hold his tall cup of lemon iced tea in one hand and a saucer full of cookies in the other, thinking about what just occurred.

The head of the medical branch gave me the go ahead to participate in the other groups as well. This is amazing. I never thought today would be so great! I know I’m supposed to be careful what I wish for, but what the hell. I wonder who else will be stopping by today! ” he thought with a smile on his face, eager to see what might happen next.

Re: Every dog has its day [open]

Kahako had just come from going through general patient’s records when she heard the announcement over the intercom. Kitsune-sensei was currently busy with a mission, and Satou-sensei was…well… M.I.A. so the fifteen-year-old had been left to her own devices for the time being until one of them called for her for training. Instead of reading the book that Kitsune-sensei had left for her, Kahako got the hair-brained idea to familiarize herself with the setup of the Aesculapium’s record database. Sure she had been shirking her duty a tad bit, but she was being productive in some way for the time being.

“I wonder what the medical chief is like,” she said to herself as she traversed the hallway towards his office. Was she still slacking off from her studies? Sure, but she was still being somewhat productive. She came upon an open door with his name neatly printed and she knocked. “Shitsureshimasu. Is this the office of Kaguya Daisuke-sama?” She entered the room, the training manual Kitsune-sensei gave her in hand. Grabbing her book with both hands and planning it in front of her, Kahako gave a proper bow that was expected for a subordinate to give her superior.

“I am Higa Kahako, medical shinobi in training apprenticed under Shinrya-sensei.” She said while she held her bow. Lifting her body and allowing her arms to fall back to her sides, book in one hand, she let a small, reserved smile rise on her face. “I heard about the open office hours over the intercom, and wanted to introduce myself to you,” she said softly. Her voice wasn’t by any means quiet, just calm. The hospital tended to make her that way.

(OOC: Sorry for my lateness! I didn't realize how busy this week would become. @,@)

Re: Every dog has its day [open]

While preoccupied with his own thoughts, he continued to enjoy the two of a plethora of refreshments. Sitting back, he began to wonder who else might stop by to visit him. A nurse with a few complaints, a member of the custodial staff who would request more cleaning supplies in order to do their job more efficiently, a receptionist asking for a raise in salary, maybe even a med-nin asking for a grant to further any developments in their research. In truth Daisuke was new at this leadership position and he knew that he had to adjust properly to different types of personalities, but not to the point where he would begin to lose his self in the process.

In the past, his found that the best teachers and leaders had a few screws loose though it could be argued that it was their strangeness that made them special. Upon coming back from the depths of his mind, he found a young girl standing before him bowing. Without hesitation he immediately stood up, knocking over his iced tea, and introduced his self. “Hello, I’m Kaguya Daisuke, newly appointed med-nin chief. Thank you for stopping by. And I.. oh no” he said, realizing that he had spilled his drink. He quickly grabbed some napkins and cleaned up the mess. He looked back at the Kahako and said laughing, “Did I mention that I was new at this? Please, have a seat. I also have a large variety of refreshments if you want some. Cookies, snacks, drinks, so on.

Well, it’s nice to meet you. It’s always great to see new faces in the medical field. And did you say Shinrya-sensei…as in Shinrya Kitsune? So she took you on as a student. Lucky you, she one of the best teachers, you’ll be fine in her care. ” he said as walked over to a nearby table and poured his self another glass of lemon iced tea. He wouldn’t bother asking if Kahako had adjusted to being a med-nin in training simply because opinions change, especially over the course of a few years in the medical field. He seen fellow med-nin become less satisfied with their work over the years because of the horrifying injuries they would have to treat. On the other hand, he saw reluctant MiTs step up and learn to love the medical branch wholeheartedly. He then began to wonder about how Kahako’s future might play out. “Who am I speaking with? Will she fully comment herself to the branch? Am I looking at the next medical chief? I wonder… ” he thought, returning to his seat with his cup in hand.

He took a sip and carefully placed the cup on his desk so as to not knock it over again saying “I hope you don’t mind my asking, but have you given any thought to which field of medicine you might want to pursue. Currently, there are three basic groups and three new groups.

Re: Every dog has its day [open]

Kahako watched as the medical chief stood quickly and tipped over his cool beverage. Quickly, she rushed over to help him, hoping that there was nothing on his desk too terribly important. She smiled, stifling small giggle from spilling off her lips. How rude would it be if she laughed at her superior! As she helped him throw away the napkins, Kahako quickly turned down the cookies and snacks. “No thank you Kaguya-sama, I am not a big fan of sweets. I will take some Oolong Tea, if you have it however,” she said as politely as possible. Kahako hated sweets with a passion, and the thought of ingesting a cookie made her pale a little bit as she grabbed her own cup of fresh tea. and sip it in order to remove the thought of sweets from her mind. The tea was bitter, but it was refreshing nonetheless.

Sitting down at on the other side of the desk, Kahako began to observe her superior to see if there was anything she could learn about him. She came here as a means to avoid studying while still being productive, and now that she was in his office, Kahako didn’t know really what she could talk about. “Thank you Kaguya-sama. I’ll let Kitsune-sensei know of your high regards,” she said with a smile. Honestly, it was moments like this that Kahako was grateful for the endless hours of etiquette her mother forced upon her. It gave Kahako the ability to properly address her superiors without worrying about offending them in a professional setting.

The next question came as a surprise to Kahako. She took a sip of her tea in order to allow a little time for her to think before she responded. She heard about the divisions that were being implemented. Apparently, they were processed and approved before her graduation. She hadn’t given much thought to where she would have liked to go though, as she felt she still had a lot to learn as a mednin in training before she could consider what division she should go with.

Letting her glass click lightly against the desk in front of her, Kahako moved one of her hands to play with the charm attached to a chain around her neck. A nervous tick. “I’ve heard about all six groups Isaki-sama has currently instated, but I’ve yet to really think about which division I would be most interested in.” She looked down to her one hand resting in her lap. “Personally, I would prefer to be where I am needed. I joined the medical branch in order to help in any way I can, so I hope that where I am placed, it is where I would be useful.” She said looking up to him, keeping the small smile. “Right now, I just wish to pass through my training with Kitsune-sensei before I look at a bigger picture.”

Re: Every dog has its day [open]

OOC: placeholder, sorry for the wait. I have to go to class now but I'll have something up later on today.

IC: He sat up straight, listening diligently to everything Kahako had to say on which group she wanted to join. He took another sip from his cup, glad to know that Kahako wished to establish herself firmly in the medical field before deciding her next step. “Maybe I really am talking to the future chief after all. I don’t see many like her around these days.” he thought, smiling a bit.

Well, if you ever need any help with anything, whether it be medical or general shinobi training tips, don’t hesitate to ask. The canines and I will be more than happy to assist you. I’ll even give you a seal to improve your ninjutsu, genjutsu, or taijutsu skills if you’d like…though your Kitsune’s pupil so she might have something to say about that. It's powerful, but it comes with some risks.” he said nervously. Again, he was still getting used to the position.

As the conversation went on, he found his self very impressed with Kahako’s attitude and manners overall. It wasn’t very often that he saw such a well disciplined young one. It became rather obvious why Kitsune chose to teach such a person. She expressed her feelings earnestly and Daisuke admired that trait. In fact, Daisuke liked that trait mostly because he saw it in his self, especially back when he was in training. In a burst of curiosity he asked, “If you don’t mind my asking, is that necklace important to you?” A bad habit of his, always asking questions that had nothing to do with him and he would wait for her response before continuing.

He took a sip of his glass yet again before saying, “I see. Well if I could make a suggestion, perhaps you should join the two default programs known as standard medical practice and The Youritsu. All medical ninja will usually take up two positions of the six groups. After all, we are both medical professionals and ninja. These groups are where most medical ninja will spend their time helping others both inside and, with our three newest groups, outside the village. And in standard practices alone, there are several fields you could become heavily involved with like research, chemistry, tutoring, psychology, or just different types of surgeries. The list goes on so you’ll never get bored. Especially since our sennin wants us to go the offensive.

It honestly wasn't Daisuke's intention to bombard Kahako with all the information he shared thus far. It seemed like it might have been a bit much information thrown at her at one time. Daisuke was usually a very quiet person, but at times when he either became very passionate or very nervous, he spoke up and talked too much. "Sorry, I'm talking so much. Did I lose you at some point? Are you experiencing information overload? Do you have any questions or comments about anything I've said thus far? I'm an open book today."

Re: Every dog has its day [open]

[OOC: Placeholder. Sorry for the wait. Finals week and apparently the site doesn't email you when people edit posts. xD Typing up now. Sorry for the delay Edited for post and to add a MFT tag. Edit #2 Deleted and reposted to training reasons.]

Kahako welcomed the kindness the mednin chief displayed with a small look of surprise. The young girl knew very little about the powers of cursed seals. She really didn’t take a chance to research them, but the thought of being a little bit stronger did appeal to her. However, the last time Kahako agreed to something she didn’t fully understand, the Raikage almost purified her friend and battle mentor. And she had been left with a black mark on her neck because of it. Kahako tapped her charm with one of her fingers, briefly remembering the night from so long ago.

But this was different wasn't it? This wasn't some shady back alley deal she made with a dying man. This man was respectable, and if he was offering her this power, it would go through the right channels, right?“That actually sound intriguing. Could you tell me more about this seal?” She lowered her hand to her lap, twisting her fingers around each other. "Although I do respect Kitsune-sensei's opinions, the decisions I make about my body are my own," she said quietly. That was something Kahako's mother taught her when she was younger, and that lesson was what made her stand up to her father and decide to become a shinobi.

Daisuke’s next question came suddenly, but not as a surprise. He was the first to ask about the necklace she always unconsciously messed with. She looked down at her fiddling fingers. “Oh, this is a charm my mother gave me before I entered the academy. She doesn’t live in the village, and she didn’t know when she would be able to see me again.” At this Kahako’s eyes warmed to thoughts of her mother. It had been four years since she had seen the woman. “She said it was a good luck charm and would protect me from danger.” She gave a small laugh. “Silly, I know, but I think it was more to give her closure. But I survived the academy, so I guess I shouldn’t dismiss its luck.”

Listening to Daisuke’s suggestions was indeed a lot for Kahako, but she tried her hardest to remember everything he spoke about. ‘Moments when you wish you had a pen.’ She thought as she repeated the name ‘Youritsu’ in her head to make sure she remembered that branch at least. Her superior seemed as nervous about his new job as she had been about meeting him. Their similarities brought a little relief to Kahako. He was just a human as she was, despite his rank.

“I think I can remember everything,” she said as her forehead scrunched up in thought. “What two branches will you be joining Kaguya-sama?” She asked questioningly.

Re: Every dog has its day [open]

OOC: So sorry. I'm normally much more attentive that this. I didn't know you posted. I'll be done with my internship in the next week or two at the max. After that, I'll have much more free time, I promise. Also, I had two posts prepared for this week, but since its sunday I just added them together.

Claiming to be an open book would definitely lead to information the young ninja would not need to know right now. Due to his nervous blabbering, he unintentionally began to spill secrets that the young med-nin in training might not have been ready to know at her current rank. Before he knew it, he disclosed the type of summoning contract he had in his possession and the different types of curse seals he could bestow on to other willing shinobi.

Kahako seemed more interested in what he had to say about curse seals. “Oh no, I might have said too much. Her sensei will have my head for this!”, he thought just before Kahako maturely stated her opinion about what goes on with her body. Given what she had to say, Daisuke sat back prepared to explain later. This normally would be a terrible mistake if the wrong student heard of such powers, but he felt Kahako could handle such truths.

Though it rarely happened, a young shinobi with a thirst for power usually ended up obsessed with obtaining too much of it. Daisuke was once such a student. He was so obsessed with gaining power that he focused less with social interaction and more on obtaining allies of a different species, gaining the power to improve his ninjutsu while simultaneously weakening his body if over used, and even gaining the secrets to a forbidden set of jutsu which allows him an affinity with all the elements. In Kahako, however, he saw no malice in her heart. Only the light that would help her dominant the medical field if she persisted long enough. So he knew he could rest easy, knowing such power might not corrupt her.

Next, she began to elaborate on the history behind her charm to which Daisuke fully understood. His parents were in a completely different country through they still communicated every so now and again over the last decade. To this Daisuke could only say, “You really shouldn’t dismiss it. Cherish that charm.” His own feelings towards his parents began to surface, but he managed to keep from day dreaming. Kahako noted that she could remember his rambling suggestions on what career path to pursue then asked what career path he might pursue.

-----------------------

I’ll answer any and everything you want to ask. Don’t worry; I’ll keep it short, sweet, and to the point. As far as a career path, it’s funny you should ask as the sennin Kushin was just in here asking me the same thing. Naturally, I wanted to do them all, but by default I’ll be stationed in the general practice and Youritsu groups until further notice like the rest of the med-nins. Now about the seals and contracts we were discussing.” he said as he stood up, removing his lab coat and rolled up his sleeves passed his elbows. Daisuke knew this explanation would be hard to follow as he had problems the first few times he tried to learn it. Before he said anything else, he grabbed a scroll and writing utensil from his draw, then wrote down everything he was saying.

First, the curse sealing technique is what I use to infuse part of my own chakra and life force in the form of a runic tattoo on your body. As far as I know, there are six categories of the shinobi and each one can be affected by a specific seal. The categories are: ninjutsu, genjutsu, taijutsu, agility, stamina, and chakra. I can only affect your nin, gen, and taijutsu aspects since I’m just a novice. I’m not a dark sage after all. Experiencing the seal for the first time is like experiencing the pain of death. You won’t die, but the next two weeks you might normally spend training will be used to recover from the effects it has own your chakra system and body. The scriber is also weakened, though only for about a week or so.”, he paused as he wanted it to sink in to her head the drawbacks of the seal.

He then activated his own lunar seal curse mark. Runic tattoos grew from his chest to cover his face, neck, and arms. All of which Kahako could see perfectly. “Secondly, using the seal will grant you great power, but when deactivated the backlash will require you to rest again during your training time depending on how long you had it activated.

Each seal has three tiers or ranks to it and each rank provides you with even more strength than the last. The first rank covers the body in the seal’s specific tattoo, the second rank covers the body in runic tattoos and a dark aura, while the third rank alters the body entirely. Never use rank three since the wielder will die if it’s over used. To strengthen the seal, the wielder must train their seal for about a week or participate in various battles. Have I lost you yet? Should I slow down or stop all together.

Re: Every dog has its day [open]

Kahako listened to Daisuke’s words carefully, looking between him and what he was writing down. All of the information was fairly easy to understand, so she didn’t really have any specific questions for him. Additionally, since he was writing it down, she fortunately didn’t have to worry about forgetting everything he said.

There came a point however, while he was talking that Kahako let her hands fall to her lap. She glanced down at them and really began to think about the power he was offering her… and the price of it as well. That’s what it was all about, really. Did she want the power? Did she want it no matter the cost?

Any shinobi would want power to protect their own, to make themselves better. It meant you had one more trick up your sleeve that could deceive death. And a curse seal could be an asset for Kahako. You never knew when you could be ambushed and were in over your head in the heat of battle. ‘So why am I so hesitant?’ she asked herself.

But deep down, she knew why she hesitated. Why she asked questions. Her family was torn apart by power. Not the type that was being offered to her now, but another. Her father’s greed in the business world pushed him away from his family. From his wife who loved him dearly. From his daughter who, at one time, wanted nothing more than to be just like her papa.

She looked up to Daisuke when he was finished. Her face relatively blank, but her eyes full of the inner turmoil she currently had. She saw the tattoos of the curse seal stark against his skin and for a second, imagined looking into her reflection and seeing the same thing. “Kaguya-sama… I…” She looked back down at her hands, unsure whether to accept the seal Daisuke was offering or not. ‘And I was doing so well acting mature.’ She thought almost pitifully as she failed to form anymore words. But Kahako had always been like that. She always wavered between what her mother steadfastness and mature lessons and her own uncertainty.

Re: Every dog has its day [open]

He asked a question which desired no words in reply, as Kahako’s body language said it all. “ Perhaps, I’m pushing too hard. Earlier she said that the choices she made about her body were her own, so who am I to offer such a thing at a moment’s notice. Maybe she needs time. And I don't want her to dwell on this decision. A personal conflict? The fear of a permanant seal? The fear of experiencing death? Whatever the reason for her hesitation, She doesn't look too comfortable right now. ”, he thought as he finished his explanation on curse seals. Seeing as she didn’t immediately jump at the chance like he thought, Daisuke took it as a sign that she might need a moment to process the idea. “ I apologize, Kahako. Perhaps I might have been too hasty offering you such power so fast. I, at the very least, owe you a proper informal discussion with the appropriate time needed to make a choice rather than just offering power out of nowhere. That’s not how a leader should behave. And such a costly power too. In retrospect, I could have offered training assistance in affinity training with advanced elements. I don’t want you to feel like I’m pressuring you or anything. Ah…just know that I’m always willing to be of assistance. ”, he said aloud while he deactivated the curse seal and stopped writing for a moment.

Taking a deep breath, he made a series of hand seals and placed his hand on the right side corner wall of his office. “ I would like for you to meet someone special to me. Perhaps what I have to say next will be of more interest to you. Especially with him around. ”, he said as signs expanded from his hand around the wall followed by a puff of smoke. A shadowy figure appeared growling loudly while obstacled from sight by the smoke. The shadow only indicated the figure to be rather large and fearsome. "There are things in this mysterious world that I just can not simply explain. Experiencing it first hand however is a better learning tool than what what I can write down for now. Kahako, I'd like you to meet-", he said beening cut off by the irratated beast.

Daisuke, I was napping. You know the appropriate hours upon which to call on me." he said while sniffing. He then continued, trying to familiarize his self with the other scent in the room as the smoke cleared. "Uh…hello there. It’s nice to meet you. I’m Hoshi and what might your name be?”, he asked quickly only for Daisuke to explain everything that had occurred in the office up to that point. “Oh, I see. For shame Daisuke! Offering a cursed seal to a young one so quickly and you’re not even her sensei. For all I know, she's not even a chuunin yet. My apologizes, young one. Daisuke can sometimes be overly forward with others. ” He walked around to the other side of the desk sitting just a foot or so away from Kahako and said, “ Well, I disagree with the cursed seal route to gain strength. It's taxing on the body, but the choice is yours. Still, he was correct to call on me to educate you about the concept of contract summoning jutsus though. Perhaps you might want a partnership like the one Daisuke and I possess. You'll build a strong bond with a different species and have back up just a few hand signs away. I can't reveal all the secrets behind the contract species, but I'll explain the concept to you if your interested.” he said, waiting her Kahako to decide.

Appearance: Cerberus is initially a 6ft x 6ft x 6ft three headed canine, however his size can be altered at will anywhere between 2 to 18 meters. His tail, as well, can change in size, shape, and form independent of the body. Hoshi has a constant body temperature to withstand severe cold or hot weather. This temperature also prevents frequent illness, by killing any potential pathogens they come into contact with before they can become ill. Lacking fur, the Cerberus is said to possess a muscular build and skin as hard as carbonized steel. His claws are sturdy and razor-sharp which assists him with digging. On all three heads, a yin and yang symbol in the shape of a full moon can be found on the forehead.

Personality: All three heads have different personalities and thus opinions on different situations. The left head is aggressive and has radical ideas while the right head is cautious and has carefully planned ideas. The middle head is dominant as it is assertive and considerate of the ideas produced by the other two heads. Because of the three contrasting personalities, this will often lead to small disagreements between the left and right heads while the middle head attempts to resolve the argument. The middle head retains Hoshi previous personality.

Re: Every dog has its day [open]

Kahako looked up from her hands as Daisuke apologized. She didn’t mean to make him feel like a bad leader, she was just unsure about curse seals. But as Daisuke sighed, she felt a little relieved that he decided to wait until another time before talking to her about it. “Thank you Kaguya-sama.” She said quietly and he moved to the side of the room. She felt comforted that he was so willing to help her. She was curious about who this person was that Daisuke wanted her to meet. Was it a fellow mednin? A family friend? She was a little confused as to why he was going to the corner of his office until she saw the hand sign and the puff of smoke.

Suddenly, Kahako was startled by the growling voice that came from the smoke. She stood quickly at the voice that came from the smoke. Her eyes widened at the appearance of a massive dog that was…. Talking… A giant, six foot dog was talking to her. Kahako grabbed hr necklace in surprise. He seemed respectable enough, speaking as if it was common for animals to randomly talk about ninja practices. She bowed to him in greeting. “um…. I-I’m Higa Kahako.” She looked into the eyes of the new addition to the room as he continued to offer what he information he had.

Calming down, Kahako responded to Hoshi’s offer. “I’ve heard stories about shinobi having animal companions while I was growing up in my village, but I didn’t know they could get so tall… or could talk.” It took a second for Kahako to realize how her statement could have been rude for not responding directly to Hoshi and looked down embarrassed. “I’m sorry, Hoshi-san. I did not grow up in a shinobi household or even in the village... so you are the first summoned contract I’ve ever seen,” she admitted. Kahako shifted in her seat, “I know the basics about summoning from the Academy, but any additional information you have to offer Hoshi-san I would appreciate."

Re: Every dog has its day [open]

Daisuke watched as Kahako reacted at Hoshi’s growl and later introduce herself. Hoshi then listened carefully to Kahako’s explanation and acceptance of his offer. Then decided to tease her a bit saying in an accusatory tone, “What’s this now?! You find it hard to believe animals can be large and intelligent creatures?! Think you humans are better than us canines, ah! Ha ha ha, I’m just joking, Kahako-chan. There is no need to apologize. It’s a common reaction. ” he then put his paw over his mouth so that only Kahako could hear him.

If anything, you should have seen Daisuke’s reaction. He flipped out so bad, we all thought he would never be the same again. Anyway, I’m glad you’re willing to listen as there are a plethora of things you’ll need to know prior to beginning your journey to establish a bond with another species. I personally have not come into contact with any other species, but I have heard rumors from the higher-ups and I imagine that if canines of a higher intellect exist then others must exist as well. Now that I have admitted to being ignorant about other species customs, I’ll explain a little of our canine customs.” he said as he prepared the young med-nin in training for his tips. He had no intention of breaking the contract bond that Daisuke established long ago or exposing the secrets of his canine brothers. He would simply provide a few tips to follow so that Kahako knew what to and not to expect.

Daisuke, write this stuff down please. I’d rather not have to repeat myself. I’ll make it structured so to make it easier to understand. I’ll be going over two common misconceptions about contract creatures and then I’ll talk about possible locations to visit, gaining your own partner, team searches, and building your own species team. ” Hoshi said turning his head back towards Kahako.

First, understand that these creatures are not your pets. They are not here simply for your amusement. When called upon, these individuals are instantly transported from their homes to your location without any warning and thus they are almost always prepared for battle. For example, depending on what species you meet you may have a nocturnal creature bonded to you in which case summoning them at noon might cause a serious problem. In short, be considerate as you should not call upon them lightly.” he paused, looking at Daisuke before continuing.

Second, you must understand that it’s not about what they can do for you. It’s about what you can do for them. Remember that you are seeking them out for a bond. If anything, they are doing you a favor by allowing you to sign, so show absolute respect. I’ve seen potential summoners lose their chance to sign because they behaved as if they were entitled to a contract. In short, it’s a partnership. Or if you prefer, it’s an employment opportunity. They are the employer and you are being interviewed for the position. You must prove your worth. And this part is very important. You only get one or maybe two chances at best to seal the deal. If you fail them twice, they will avoid you forever. At least, I've never seen the same ninja sign after two failed attempts to win the leader's respect.

Being the lazy bum he was, Daisuke created clones to assist him in his tasks. Several clones were given scrolls and writing utensils then sat down on the far couches near the door. He took this time to prepare a table in front of Hoshi with a punch bowl of cold spring water and another full of chicken and beef stew. “This might take a while to explain, Kahako. Did you want something to snack on or drink? A bathroom break? Get up and stretch your legs? Anything? ” he asked because he knew Hoshi's one weakness. He loved to talk a lot, especially when it came to giving detailed advice.

Re: Every dog has its day [open]

Kahako felt a tad bit embarrassed at Hoshi’s teasing, but sat back down as he began to explain the ins and outs of relationships with a contracted creature. Would she be able to contract with an animal? It sounded… intriguing. Kahako wanted to know more. “Where did you and Daisuke meet-“

It was in that moment that the intercom above their heads went off. “Higa Kahako, your presence is requested in the emergency ward, I repeat. Higa Kahako, your presence is requested in the emergency ward.”

Kahako’s face fell as she realized that their conversation had been cut short. She rose from her chair. “I’m sorry Kaguya-sama. It seems we will never truly have a break, doesn’t it?” She said with a smile. She gave a small bow to her superior and his companion. “If you don’t mind me asking, do you think we could continue this conversation another time?”

She waited for a response before gathering her things and the scrolls Daisuke had written up for her. With one final bow in farewell to both Daisuke and Hoshi, Kahako left the medical chief’s office. She entered originally just to introduce herself, but left with more knowledge than she could possibly hope for.

Kahako turned the corner, preparing her mind for whatever awaited her in the emergency ward.

Re: Every dog has its day [open]

Daisuke sat back in his chair as Hoshi went on and on. Once Kahako could get a word in edgewise, she was called on the intercom. It was a shame really, as the chief was about to answer her question and tell the story of He and Hoshi’s first encounter. She showed respect as she prepared to leave and asked a rhetorical question about medical ninjas and being on break. Daisuke smiled at her comment and stood up so that both he and Hoshi could bow as well. Both of them were truly impressed with Kahako, both as a med-nin in training and as a young mind in this shinobi world.

She then asked for a raincheck, hoping to continue the conversation at another time. “Of course. We’ll do this some other time, no worries. I just hope you got what you originally came for, since we kind of digressed from our original discussion. One minute you say hi, another minute I'm showing you my curse seal. Remember that my door is always open. We’re very impressed with you ya know. We see a bright future ahead of you. Have a great day.” he said as he handed her the scrolls and took a seat. Hoshi then added, “It was an absolute pleasure to meet you, Kakaho-chan. Now go on, go save some lives and treat some injuries.

The young lady then left and went on with the rest of her day. Daisuke and Hoshi sat back for a moment in silence, then finished their snack and drinks. “Thank you Daisuke, for both the meal and for giving me the opportunity to meet such a lovely young lady. Do you need help packing up the food?” he asked as he began to walk towards the tables. Daisuke got up from his seat saying, “Yes, please. We’ll put it all in the refrigerator in the labortory downstairs. My goodness it’s been a good day.” Upon placing all the food away, the duo went back to their duties because Kahako was correct; a ninja’s work was never done.
