Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Character's Physical Description:
Kyourin has a slender build as he lost a good deal of his mass with age though he still has a somewhat toned muscular structure. Stands close to 6'7''. He has eyes that look completely iced over, a trait picked from receiving a totem spirit though they are rarely seen thanks to wearing an old anbu mask from Kirigakure a majority of the time. His skin tone has become paler over time, lightening to a degree. He has a visible scar across his eye which is discolored strangely to that of a sky blue against his skin, yet again a feature hardly seen thanks to the mask. His body is cold to the touch, feeling several degrees cooler than the average person which was a trait of his blood. If he goes shirtless, his torso with the exception of his shoulders and arms is completely covered in tribal tattoo markings. These tattoos are different from ordinary ones as they were made using a bone needle and ink made from coal which is repeatedly pecked into the skin. They are effectively black scar tattoos though they have faded into a worn pattern that still vividly stands out.

Character's Mental Description:
Kyourin's mental strength has never been cracked even through the recent death of his son he maintains a stable mind. That is to not say that age and experiences have not molded how he handles some situations as now he is far from one to shrug things off. To put it in pun references he has developed a cold shoulder persona. Why not one to be easily riled, Kyourin when agitated can showcase intense aggression. Another scenario that may trigger this is if encounters anyone who desecrates the dead or is involved with manipulation of deceased people's souls which is fueled by his tribal background, something that remains true to this day. In his age however he's found he has a warm spot for youth, potentially a trait that sprouted due to lack of involvement with his own children sired across the various countries.

Character History:
Standing before the mouth of the cavern which was eye opening expanse, Kyourin gently set a bundle upon the ground. The bundle itself was wrapped in layers of seal skin, bound together by thick pieces of thread along various seams. Pushed into the snow, the depression left beneath foretold that it's contents were not excessive in weight. Night had been fast approaching, a time where even the subzero temperatures would feel warm compared to a nighttime exposure to the elements. He would once again take the bundle into his possession, retreating further into the cavern mouth while staying within eye gaze of the outside world. Taking great care, he would nestle the bundle on top a rock pedestal, pressing his forehead against the package for a few seconds.

An audible crackling noise escapes into the open air as fluttering light filled the immediate area. Feeding the fire sections of broken twigs, his silenced glare into the dancing flames only highlighted a temporary detachment from reality. Memories of his past surfacing in the grips of being alone and isolated, with nothing but his thoughts to entertain. Playing through his mind like a video reel were all which had made him what he was, joyful moments alongside painful times. Through this it would be one connection to the past which provoked bodily response to his recollections, a gritting of his teeth and balling of both fist. There was growing anger and it was like his hair stood spiked before a sentient calm returned to his body.

Relinquishing himself to some sleep before the moon was to crest the night's sky, Kyourin lay motionless next to fire. It was not long before slumber and dreams descended upon the wayward Katai, dreams which were purposely altered by the spirits of the land. His form moved constantly in the time which slumber held him close, droplets of sweat forming along his brow showing the growing discomfort his dreams were putting upon his body. This was because here, in this place is where his underlying pain and coincidental revelation had intersected by will of his ancestors. Tonight would just not be about the Releasing ritual but also a return to what he had all but forsaken.

He found himself flung out of his sleep, sitting upright and grasping his chest while trying to stabilize his breathing. Diverting both eyes to his slightly trembling palms it would not take long for him to realize it was just a dream. Though truthfully it was more of a recollection to his past when he was so much younger and in his assumption, ignorant to the world. It would not take long for him to dismiss his dream of the past, ever more showcasing his own detachment from what he was. Gazing out into the night's sky, clearly in view of the stars and moon Kyourin would stand. The moon had traveled close while he had slumbered and it was now time to perform his important task.

In the light of the fire he would remove the layers of furs and clothing which he had worn, something which normally he would not have needed. He was born into a tribe of people blessed with the powers of Ice which was bestowed upon them by their deity of creation. She did not have a specific name but was known simply as the -Móðir vor allra- (Mother of us all). With the lands plunged into a cold that was unnatural, even in such an outlying area as his people's distant isle had become incredibly chilled. For this obligation he would have to brace the cold and the ice which ran through his veins gave him ample resistance to braved it for enough time to do so. Void of clothing, the light licked at his skin which was covered in markings which were designed in flowing patterns of spirals. Taking hold of the bundle, which rested on a boulder and using a spare branch as a torch Kyourin would descend deeper into the cave.

Down winding paths did he go, at times with difficulty due to some narrow spaces which did not agree with his body size. It would not be long before the path opened up into a hollowed out section, flanked along the walls by pillars of stone. The area itself was questionable as even though he was within the cavern and none had been present before, in this room ice covered everything. There was but one opening other than the entrance, that being a fist sized hole in the ceiling which led all the way to the surface. Placing the torch upon the ground, the flame would be overtaken by the cold and flutter while he walked towards the center. There clearly different from the other formations within, was a depression which was carved with ringed terraces. He would place the bundle within this hole and once done it would be as if the air filled with somber emotions.

Removing the bindings on the bundle and unfurling the fabric left behind a group of human bones to remain uncovered. The bones were not that of some random individual but those of his son who had been killed fighting a war that was not his to fight, in lands which were not his to roam. Fetching from the area a rock sharp enough, Kyourin would without hesitation slice both arms from his forearm to his wrist. The blood which ran from his wounds would drip and pour over the bones, making a small pool underneath as more fell into the hole. His gaze seemed stared solely at the blood covered bones of his son, fingertips placing together before running down his head and smearing the crimson substance over his face.

"blóð okkar deildi í lífinu, fylgja sálina móður okkar í dauða. Undir augnaráð tungl tunglið taka hann inn í þig til að taka þátt eins og alla aðra sem hafa liðið hafa gert."

Our blood shared in life, guide the soul to our mother in death. Under the gaze of the lunar moon take him into you to join as all others who have passed have done.

He would press his head against the skull of his deceased son, far to strong willed to shed a tear in this moment. Lifting his head, the hole in the ceiling would flood with light from the moon which had moved into place. There would be the sound of hands slapping together as the blood which had rested at the bottom of the hole became flash frozen after suddenly surrounding the bones. The light from the moon which had made it's way into the chamber reflected somewhat and provided more light which exposed that the large room was filled with various collections of red ice. Each and every mound of red ice that rested in various parts of the room had bones frozen within. The area was a burial chamber for his tribe, a place where their dead joined their ancestors in eternal embrace of Ice.

With this completely, he'd take absolute care when resting his son's addition in a section of the room, raised atop a section of iced over stone. His breathing became shallow in this time as although blood had finally stopped pouring from the wounds, the cost of losing enough blood had began to take hold. This was the final step of honoring his son's death which was usually done to impart a father's totem into their son or a mother's into their daughter, however in this situation he would assume the mantle of his son's spirit totem. Feeling dazed, he would settle himself near the center of the room, placing what looked to be a collection of roots into his mouth and chewing slowly. The longer he chewed the roots, the further away from his pain he seemed to feel as the weight of his eye's finally caused them to close.

His eyes opened, quick to realize this world he was in was not his own. It was a haze of images, a smokey aura trailing from every surface including his own body. Floating there in a constant position in the air, unable to control his own form as it slowly rotated to a vertical stance. As soon as his body was standing up straight, his eyes widened suddenly as a large paw with menacing claws was already in a swiping motion towards his face. Shooting upwards, his palm cuffed his forehead as he was drenched in sweat, regardless of that fact that where he was had been a frozen crevice. He would roll over so that his body was on all fours, filled with exhaustion and deep cold. His teeth clentched, as he felt the deep cold from continued exposure to the elements and the disconnection to reality soon led to more darkness.

After minutes passed his eyes weakly opened, the darkness hiding the dark circles appearing beneath his pupils as fatigue and the cold had made it's mark upon his face. Finding his footing, he pulled his body up with an obvious struggle as it was due to the weakening of his body that his chakra levels were now dangerously low. Breathing heavily, his body leaned over as he coughed a bit through the darkness as the previous dream replayed through his mind and he wondered if this was another dream brought upon by the roots or was this his reality. When exactly he returned to the world of haze was unknown, however now colors started flowing from the surroundings as if a fine mist drifting away from morning dew. This time was different as his head turned and like before a paw swatted towards his face. Staring at the source, his pupils widened as in front of his being stood a rather large polar bear. It was not threatening as his eyes also realized that just beneath where he was once laying were two cubs playing as images against the ice. There would be a quick blink of his eyes and once opened the animals were completely gone. Still remaining there the polar bear would place a heavy paw against his chest and he would feel the weight of the animal which easily took the breath from his lungs. Time seemed the stand still as the creature's vestige started to disperse slowly. The markings from his own body glowing a light blue as the pattern danced along his skin and flowed onto that of the disappearing creature.

Opening his eyes once again, he could see his breath as he exhaled. He did not feel cold in this moment, even though he lay there void of clothing or at least material cloth. Initially ignored, Kyourin realized a cloak of chakra had all but embraced his form and flowed freely through the air. This was his son's totem which he now possessed as his inner spirit guide and it was not until now that he understood why. There was a time when he himself had his own totem but had long since became unattached to it's influence. It was only when he returned to this place of traditions and his ancestors did his body become a vessel again. The difference was that he no longer carried a totem specific to him but also one that was just as much part of his son. Standing fully, the chakra veil would relinquish it's hold upon his body, fading completely and leaving him alone though with a symbol of the rituals completion.

A seal along his back glowed faintly while the surface of his skin became coated in a pale white hue as deep inside his body, a locked portion of his chakra reserves had been unleashed. His vocalization of understanding which came ins a single drawn out shout sealed the passing. The chakra would eject itself outwards before condensing for one last time within his body. The seal at this point no longer would have a glow to it. Kyourin would leave the chamber after paying his respects to his son and ancestors a final time. Once returned to the mouth of the cave, he'd be somewhat shocked to see that the night was still to young and that the moon had not moved much from when he first stepped inside. Finding himself within his clothing, he realize how much less was needed to ward off the cold feeling of the region. After chuckling at the thought, his sight did not stray from the stars above. The man had a revitalized sense of purpose again, though to what would yet to be seen.

(Current Timeline)
Nothing was the same after his home had become blanketed in ice and snow for what was seemingly the distant forever. He had physically and financially struggled in a way that eventually would lead to him turning on age old practices that had prior stood tests of time. Communion with the spirits had ceased along with his trust in the Katai’s pantheon, which would eventually cost him his ability to tap into his totem’s influence. None of this happened over night, instead becoming long term effects that only drove Kyourin deeper into the underbelly of the world which had been a place a man of such pride wouldn’t have fallen to in his earlier years. Times were different however and he molded himself to survive in a reality without raw power. Age wasn’t exactly on his side despite the slight advantage his genetics had given him, in that his body was far stronger than someone else his age, though this could also be due to the activities he still participated in. Having become involved in the underside of the shinobi world, money started to flow as he took in freelance job after freelance job. His morals no longer playing a major role in his decision making as the prospect of making a living took primary importance. To this end he became a shinobi for hire, a mercenary for lack of better words to many a different criminal organizations, high value people and clients who needed business rivals magically silenced. Over time he had become rather good at what he did, his abilities evolving with his changing life as he’d begin to hone skills/tactics that he’d learned back during his time as a kirigakure shinobi and as a hunter. Having no longer access to the raw power he could output in his youth, finesse took over and he had made good on his senses of sight and hearing to overcome this shortfall. With the eyes of a hunter coupled with the ears of a prey animal, his method was one that thrived in the type of business he was usually hired for. Silencing people became an art form and his skillset when it came to erasing people had gradually built a comfort and pride back into his psyche. While he rarely used the power hidden in his blood, it would be the sharp gaze of his eyes and a high level of hand-eye coordination which had turned him into a shockingly accurate marksmen. Weapon of choice being a unique hybrid of senbon, blade and ninja wire it would be evident at his skill when using it. There was no reliance on close engagements, Kyourin hunted from the unseen and could manipulate the direction and range of his weapon combining chakra control with his hawk like eye perception. Many targets had succumb to his pinpoint accuracy and found themselves welcomed in the afterlife before ever realizing what had happened, let alone from where it had come from. Those more difficult to handle learned the sinister nature behind the ninja wire which was an integral part of his weapon. Binding limbs through well placed shots was simple, even within a deep fog, he had trained his sight and hearing to an extent that it wasn’t an inhibitor to him. Even the slightest obstacle couldn’t pry his tracking eyes from losing sight of his target.

Though his jobs could take him all over, he had for the recent time found himself employed as a bodyguard now for several months. His client being a merchant who was dealing a lot of business headquartered in Crater City. It was work that was a farcry from assassination requests but it had given him a sense of “settling” the area even though he was rarely seen with always sticking to the shadow of his clientele. Though recent rumors had begun to spread loosely within those around his employer, rumors he listened to from the darkness of their own shadows. Work might be picking up...
