Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

That had been the quest that had brought her to where she was. Boredom was a scary thing, especially for someone who couldn't stay in one place like her. Natsu's talk with the bounty issuer had been rather prompt - namely a location and what they knew, which amounted to absolutely nothing whatsoever. It was always handy when it worked out that way, though it would be an absolute lie that she wasn't looking forward to unravelling the mystery herself.

In her experience such rumours were rarely the result of human action and with good reason. Additionally the entrance of the cave she now found herself in front of was rather... helpful to reinforce her idea of there being foul beings involved.Whether it was the fact that what appeared to be ruins littered the surrounding area or the rather clearly human skull in the pool of water - she didn't know exactly, but somehow she knew this would be an interesting little expedition into the cave of wonders. Natsuru had basically ticked off every single item on her list that pointed to either demons or some rather giant bear and frankly she was looking forward to it.

The kunoichi couldn't help but smirk under her mask as she finally finished studying the area and slowly but surely made her way into the gaping pit, leading to who knows where. Her waist-length whire hair was the only really visible part of her as she ventured into the darkness, her black clothing being nigh but invisible to the untrained eye, something which wasn't an issue to her, the veins on her face bulged as her Byakugan proved just how valuable it was once more. The ability to scout without putting herself in unecessary danger was without a double invaluable, though this time it seemed to have failed her.

Before the Senju could react she felt the force of the attack, quickly followed by a massive hand as she was punched from behind. Her body went limp for a moment as the attack had been powerful enough to knock her out for a moment, which was quickly resolved once she hit the wall of a rather large cavern with enough force to knock the wind out of her.

As soon as she fell to the ground the kunoichi found herself in knee-deep water and finally managed to see her assailtant. It seemed like her suspicions had been correct, however that wasn't a good thing as the creature that stood in front of her was something she couldn't quite recognise.

"Oh crap."<i></i> Natsuru mouthed as the creature began taking a very big breath in. In her experience that was always a bad thing and instinct took over, her body reacting far quicker than her mind as she jumped behind the nearest cover she could find and prayed it would hold out against whatever was in store.

The fire breath soared over her, heating up the surrounds and quickly turning the opening of the cavern into a steam bath. It was a good thing for her as it didn't prevent her from seeing, however this creature wasn't showing up right whenever she looked at it. To her eyes it appeared to blend into it's surroundings as if it was hiding itself like a chameleon, something which it certainly wasn't visible when seen without any special techniques (unknown to her). This was a horrible opponent to deal with in a cramped place like this and she needed a plan fast.

Having joined the few others who came for the tournament, Uri had followed the protocols of his mentor. They were to make sure the surrounding area was as safe as it should be. Though Tea Country should have made sure that there would be enough security during this important world event, gathering leaderships of shinobi villages and possibly of royalty and daimyos, they must have done the necessary precautions. Still, it would be foolish to simply rely on it, and knowing the temperament of his mentor (and guardian and significant other), Uri knew better than to shy away from the thought. He, himself, thought it was necessary to secure his Raikage’s safety as he did aspire to one day become the guard.

“Don’t stray too far,” Ibaraki-san said as they parted ways from the entrance of the city. Their eyes locked, they shared a brief moment’s kiss before Uri started to walk backwards seemingly not wanting to part at all. But Ibaraki-san grinned and then waved goodby before vanishing into thin air. At that, Uri turned on his heel and started his journey.

A quick surveillance of the outskirts wouldn’t take long. A couple of days tops would be enough. Uri had done this before, knew how to find information and knew better than to get dragged into something troublesome that would only delay his return. And yet, when he came upon a certain village, seemingly devastated by something unnatural, he was curious. After all, whatever had done so could potentially become a threat to them. And with everyone busy with the tournament, an unknown danger was likely to become far more dangerous than a sudden uprising within the city.

Following the few information of the villagers, he would find himself nearing a certain cave structure. It seemed rather quiet, at first, and he didn’t think much of the area. Perhaps it was a beast that simply got lost in its hunts and the village had a bad luck of being the first place it found its way in. That would be pointless as creatures only follow their instincts. It is in their nature. But as he was about to leave, there was a tremor and a loud roaring-like sound. It was almost like the wind, but then there was steam exiting the cave’s entrance, and a sudden spike of chakra pulse from within alerted him.

Immediately, Uri knew he couldn’t simply walk away anymore.

The redhead, approached the entrance slowly. The hot steam mixing with the rushing wind from within blew past him, effectively putting down the hood of his black jacket and rushing through his black pants. He let his crimson eyes examine the forming moisture on the ground, noticing the immediate condensation on the surface despite the heat. Whatever was the source, it was surely making good use of chakra manipulation.

He slipped in to investigate and as he turned around one of the cavern walls, he heard a more grizzly roar and quickened his pace. He stopped on his tracks as he finally found a larger cavern within, pressing himself against the shadows of the wall as he looked on to what was happening. It was then that he noticed someone was there, but who was this person – a woman – seemingly fighting.

Then, he heard the gnarling sound once more and knew that a creature was nearby, possibly toying with the woman. If so, he knew he would have to act. Making a quick seal with his hand and blue flames forming to slice across his palm, the blood the trickled began to burn and form a crest.From the center of this crest, a bright yellow light shot out and into the cavern, only to form a small fire bird as it roamed and circled the area. He didn’t need to give a command for he knew Karura would quickly grasp the situation, and so the bird would try and lure whatever it was in the vicinity to find him.

Taking this moment, Uri across the ground and neared the woman, stopping just a good few meters from her with his arms held up to show he wasn’t armed or intending to harm her. Though he knew she wasn’t a damsel in distress if she could somehow keep her head about her in this situation, it was still polite not to appear as the villain. “It’s a stupid question but are you okay?” He greeted her, though he kept his senses keen for anything to happen. Karura would at least be the first to attack if something would suddenly spring upon them.

Today was pretty slow, so slow that Maru decided that he should actually wear a snap cover disguise to keep people off his back. He was wearing round black rimmed glasses to change the appearance of his face with a rather scholarly look. A white turtleneck long sleeve covered with a black coat, he wore grey and black checkerboard pants that seemed to reveal his ankles, black sneakers for a bit of style. Carrying a large bag with him, Maru couldn't help but overhearing people talking about a 50k reward and Maru decided to see what was up, checking out a flyer signed by the mayor himself which read;
The village of ..... has requested the aid of the shinobi during their time of need. A family has disappeared after their house was burned down to the ground completely. We have managed to track down the culprits to a nearby cave system, but none of the people who had gone in have come back.

Reward:

The Mayor of ..........

Maru looked around, keeping the illusion he was trying to convey of a quiet scholar who was simply about to overlook this task, making sure that he wasn't being watched or followed. Uram, however wouldn't be interested in taking the reward, he pretty much avoided violence whenever he could. But Maru, the masked Mercenary, wouldn't pass this up. Honestly the transition from Uram to Maru was something similar to that of a magna superhero, only Maru was far from a hero especially since there was money involved, and if they thought Maru wouldn't collect on the reward money.. They had another thing coming... Waving hand signs to darken the area as soon as he got to an empty alley where he wouldn't be disturbed. The smug smile came across the young mercenary's face, removing his glasses to trade it in for his white and black eye mask with a dramatic snatch of his hand. “Let's go get this money.” He said as he began to change into his real work uniform…

K08nrSi.gif

…..

Heading down the trail as quiet as a mouse, Maru was heading towards where he entrance to a cave that looked to fit the bill since he already was getting bad vibes, perhaps because there had been a lot of debris scattered around or could could've been the human skull floating within the water as if a warning that you shouldn't come around here. But this was for 50,000 Yen, and he could really use that money. Besides, if he was taking on something big then whatever it was better be bulletproof. Maru pulled from his shoulder his rifle, this weapon had the fire power since he modified it with all kinds of weapons and tricks similar to that of a puppet weapon. This made the young mercenary all the more confident in being able to take down whatever it was. As he ventured deeper in the cave, Maru moved quickly to hop out of the way of a huge beam of fire! “Yikes!” He said then tucked and rolled to safety. Seeing both a man he saw back in lighting country and a pretty looking woman. Probably trying to go for the money too.

Maru snapped to his feet, strutting over to the beast without fear so he would look cool. Spinning his rifle in his hand, he reached his red gloves had to fix his hair. “Don't worry y'all, I got this shit under control." Maru boasted, loading a sapphire tipped bullet into his weapons, he aimed his rifle at the roaring chameleon thing, his finger only the trigger as he prepared to fire his weapon hoping that he would get to test some of the cool features he has on his weapon.

The temperature increase was probably the second most horrible thing in this situation, well you know other than the possibility of your brain being fried. That would be a bit worse you know.

Natsuru let out a sigh as she reached down towards the kunai holster on her left thigh, drawing a pair and quickly infusing chakra into them before she focused her attention on the oversized assailant. It seemed like the thing hadn't moved, but it was rather difficult to see with that barrier it had going. Without much of a thought the kunoichi threw the two kunai at what she assumed was the thing. The first hit (16) with a thunk, but quickly fell down to the ground as if it had hit the wall. The second (5) wasn't so lucky as it actually hit the back of the cavern, embedding itself into the rock as the chakra coating dissipated.

A roar filled the cavern followed by another fire breath, forcing the kunoichi to abandon her current cover as it melted down into nothing. Unfortunately for her (3) she wasn't quick enough and her right hand was caught in the blast, completely burning her glove off and causing substantial damage to her apendage.

The second blast of steam was enough to send a jolt of agony up her body as she leaned back onto her next cover, but it also brought along something unexpected- another pair of individuals. It was likely they hadn't noticed each other quite yet, but her Byakugan was enough to spot them. 'Brilliant. More trouble' Natsu thought as she prepared to deal with more than she had bargained for, although it appeared that things were a bit better than she had anticipated.

*** Uri

As the fire bird neared the nigh-invisible creature another wave of force, aimed directly at the summon shot forth. It was similar to the attack that had sent Natsuru flying not too long ago and it was on a direct collision course with the fire creature (8).

***
"Oh never better. Just enjoying a steam bath."<i></i> Natsuru would respond with a clear hint of sarcasm in her voice as her charred right hand laid limply at her side. Bits of leather still remained stuck to the almost black flesh as liquid leaked out of some of the cracks in the skin. "That thing is not as easy to deal with as it looks. "<i></i> The kunoichi would add as the final party member arrived if one could call him that. It seemed like this one wasn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed as he charged right in.

*** Maru
The thing diverted it's attention towards the approaching masked man as his shot missed (8). The moving distortion appeared to be rather large, reaching the ceiling of the cavern and wide enough to cover the entirety of the entrance they had come through. A loud wheezing noise echoed accross the cavern as the creature prepared another fire breath (2) aimed directly at Maru.

***
"That idiot."<i></i> Natsuru mouthed as she jumped back up to her feet and quickly drew chakra into her body, slamming one of the chakra gates open, flickering out of existence for a moment before appearing next to Maru and pushing him out of the way of the attack and behind another rock outcropping, landing in a heap of limbs. Sharp pain shot through her right hand once more as she ended up falling on top of it.

[DM notes:
Natsuru cannot use save someone option any more.
Natsuru has lost the use of her right hand.]

[Note:
I am rolling a simple d20 for the attacks with a d6 for where the attacks hit(on us. For the creature please do mention where you are aiming or it will be random again) If it is above 10 it is a hit and the higher the number the better the hit. If it is below 10 it is a miss(or a hit against us) the lower the number the worse the miss or the more the damage taken. I was considering critical failures on a 1, but that will probably be rather bad so no go there. Natural 20s will be a crit and I will leave how the attack hits to you guys, i.E leaving that bit blank and explaining how the thing reacts from there.
Going to be using this as a bit of a test for a possible format. Hope you don't mind. Oh The numbers are what was rolled. I won't be adding any information about how you were hit or what happened to you. I will leave that to your discression based on the roll. My interraction with you and the creature will be in my own emotes. Any action of the creature against you will be marked with a *** and your name at the start of the section.

Example:
Creature rolls a 9 on an attack - It hits;
Creature rolls a 11 on an attack - it misses;
We roll a 19 - we hit;
We roll a 2 - we miss;

With regards to rolls you can do them yourself for the attack. The monster cannot counter you on your own attack, so if you miss it will not attack you back. You just fail your own attack. Do be aware this is meant to be a boss. Ideally use the roll with a targeted area and what your intention was with the attack and leave the hit on the monster to me. IF you roll a 20 then you can fully do so yourselves, but don't overdo it, alright? :p

Example:
"Without much of a thought the kunoichi threw the two kunai at what she assumed was the thing." I roll a 16 and a 5 (random throw)
Then I respond as such as the "DM":
"The first hit (16) with a thunk, but quickly fell down to the ground as if it had hit the wall. The second (5) wasn't so lucky as it actually hit the back of the cavern, embedding itself into the rock as the chakra coating dissipated."

One final thing is: You can use evasion jutsu once every other post (Can be used once per round and requires a full round of cool down) and you can save someone from an attack ONCE for the entirety of the topic with a roll. If you want to use things like a barrier please roll again. Anything above a 10 is successful and below is a failed attempt.

Edit 1: if you can use an additional activated dodge make that once every four rounds. The one it is used on is not counted.]

Uri gave the woman a smile at her humor. It wasn’t everyday a woman could make light of the situation they were in. And just before he could settle to get acquainted with her, a man suddenly joined in to the current situation. The creature wasn’t making it much easier as well as the battle seemed to enter hyperdrive, aka, the guy had set off a series of attacks from the creature and it wasn’t the best time to get acquainted with the woman. Not that Uri was interested at the moment. He’d rather not get toasted. Things happened fast and the woman was valiant in her effort to save the masked man, and Uri and Karura weren’t exactly to keen to be a burden like that.

“Come forth, Harby!” Said Uri as he let out his chakra with a surge that formed into an entity that towered him but stood beside him. It was made of blue flames that seemed to form by an invisible body that held it together. He would order the entity to charge and attack the creature (3) as Uri rushed towards the other to see if they were okay, though he was certain they weren’t but if any assistance was required, he’d give it.

He would reach out a hand to the woman from earlier, helping her stand. “I don’t think jumping into an attack is smart. Shouldn’t we help each other out through tactics instead?”

At that same time, Karura would disperse itself into myriads of smaller fire birds and attempt to attack the creature (Nevermore) (5 strikes so: 13,4,16,4,18).

Note:
Not sure if I got it right. Please tell me if it’s wrong. Harby is the A-rank Fire Futsu Abysmal Harbinger.

Maru's Glacial Shot zipped pass the creature, having it turn its attention towards him and it opened its mouth… then blasted a beam of fire at Maru! It almost looked impossible to dodge, and he might be obliterated on contact but then he was pushed out of the way! Rolling behind a rock safe from the blast, he looked at the woman who saved him then gave her a thumbs up despite her looking badly hurt. “Thanks sweetheart! I owe ya a ramen date after i get this money.” He said, loading a canister filled to the brim with senbon needles before popping his body from around the corner of the rock to get a good shot at the thing. He began to fire a barrage of needles at it, (7) the first shot wasn't successful,(9) the second shot was better, (2) he missed a few, (19) but he made it up with a almost perfect shot. Each time he fired he was getting good and sometimes bad.

The creature being pretty pissed now took another inhale, Maru attempting to run so he could get out of the way of the blast the creature would again fire at Maru nearly missing (9) but it did cause him to lose his balance before catching himself then tucked and rolled behind a rock. Maru unloaded the empty canister to load in a special bullet, this one tipped with a Topaz that contained electronic chakra that rivaled that of a Santaru to at least paralyze the creature. Maru moving from around the rock, took aim then fired at the creature and although it wasn't exactly a the perfect shot that he wanted. His Voltaic Shot hit. (16) While he hoped the creature would be paralyzed, he kept hidden behind the rock. Reaching within his coat to get another sapphire tipped bullet to load it in the rifle with a confident chuckle as his weapon clicked.

The fiery behemoth hit the demonic creature head on in the stomach, seemingly doing nothing ad the thing didn't even bother to look at the Harbringer, much like one wouldn't bother looking at an ant walking in their feet. It seemed like it was focused on the other two at least for the time being. The secondary attack would be much more effective. A dark liquid seeped out from the areas that had been struck, however that might not be that good a thing as the second they hit the ground a hissing noise began to emanate from them as they ate through the stones below, no matter whether there was water there or not.

[The creature is ignoring you. Any roll above a 7 is a hit this turn]

***

*** MARU

The rapid fire was proving completely useless, the senbon bouncing off the creatures hide until one final volley did something that seemed incredible - the shots hit the creature in the left eye, turning it into a bloody pulp. It was nothing more than a lucky shot, but it had given them a huge advantage. The blood that poured out had the same effects as before, but this time it was accompanied by a horrendous stench of rotting meat. Hopefully the shinobi were good at keeping their meals down.

The enraged creature breathed in for another attack, aimed at Maru and indirectly at Natsuru, but this time it seemed Maru had learned that fire is bad as he attempted to run. Luckily he managed to avoid a direct hit, but his clothes weren't so lucky. They caught on fire and were burning surprisingly quickly considering they were wet from all the steam and water they had been in not long ago.

Just as the creature was preparing another attack the nuke shinobi somehow managed to hit it and stun the creature. His shot knocked off a chunk of meat as well, sending more of its blood flying around the room. It would be better if they didn't find out what it did

[You have it's full attention and anger.]

***

*** Creature

[Creature is stunned and will not attack this round

***

*** Natsuru

It had been quite a while since she had managed to get herself into this much trouble. So much so that she didn't even notice when Maru had moved away and engaged Fate's servant. She was far too busy trying to decide how bad the damage truly was. The sit rep came down to a rather burned hand, a dislocated shoulder and a lot of scrapes and bruises. This would hurt in the morning for sure, but for now all she could do is get herself back into the action.

Natsuru would slowly sit up on her knees, finding a good and straight rock as she adjusted her shoulder before smashing it into the object as hard as she could, a popping sound informing her that the rather crude procedure had worked. It was painful to say the least, but at least she could use her hands again. The kunoichi would once again slump down and out of sight as she weaved a quick set of handseals, her left hand beginning to glow in the ever so familiar, healing green light. She would slowly but surely set about mending her right arm at least to the point where it wouldn't hinder her actions even if she couldn't use it anymore.

[Old fashioned bone setting and some mystical hand]

[Due to time concerns on my part I will be dropping out via the inactivity clause myself. My apologies and if you wish to continue this at a later date I'm sure we can arrange something]
[For the sake of not having to thread down the same path if we do not come back to it I will consider the monster having been killed and Natsu remembering Maru as a suicidal insane man. Any name you would have been given would be - "Natsuru"]
