It had been several weeks since Shin has laid eyes on the grand gates of Kumogakure. He was glad that he made the decision to bring Karou back to the village. At least she would not have to deal with the turmoil that he and the others were dealing with right now. Ayumu, Tama, and a few others had took the lead in returning to the village leaving Shin alone. After discovering the recent disappearance of Masao, Shin needed time to himself. It had only been a year since Rin had mysteriously disappeared believing to be dead and now the same has happened to Masao. Both of their disappearance had something to do with Enishi and now the man was gone. In the end, Shin honestly believed it was his fault. Could he had prevented this from happening. To the country, Shin's leadership was a sign of weakness that could easily be bargained by the lives of millions. Enishi should have been dead if Shin would have been more aggressive in hunting him down. However, if Enishi had been killed what benefit would that bring to the country? It only a few years another mad man would rise in their ranks and the imbalance of power would continue to dominate their lands. Nothing has changed.
"Helloooooooooooo." A voice said in low tone without pretense of piety. The smell of dead flesh, burning oil and varnish greeted him as small hooded figure stood beside him. It was the same old woman before possessed by the youkai who tried to use Kumogakure to retrieve the mystic scroll still hidden in the old cavern. After accepting the contract as a means to bind the youkai, it made every attempt to harass Shin the entire journey. The youkai were even reluctant in aiding Shin and the rest of the shinobi against the kingslayers.
"Why do you bother me, youkai. Leave this woman." Shin said. The dark tinted glasses did not disguise the disgust that Shin had for the youkai's pretense.
"Surely you know. You are too much fun. An impenetrable force against an unmovable object. You truly believe your righteous path will save anyone. Perhaps I imagined what happened to your dear Sennin.?" The woman said with a crackle ignoring Shin's request.
A rush of emotions filled Shin's body like gush of water flowing out of a geyser. His hand vanished into his cloak reappeared grasping a kunai as he began to thrust the weapon into the woman. The woman quickly transformed into puff of black smoke as the weapon entered the body. Moments later the woman materialized beside him grinning underneath the shroud of her dirty rags.
"You wouldn't want to harm this body raikage-chan, eh?" The woman barked.
"'Tch." Shin remarked as he threw the blade into the bark of a tree.
