Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Ren was a bastard of Soon Haven. Her mother was a prostitute and Ren never knew her father, not that her mother could tell which one would be her father. It was a tough life but still a pleasant one, up until her mother got horribly sick. Mom was not able to make as much money as she use to and was having a hard time making ends meet. There were times that the Mother had to decide between getting medicine or providing food on the table. Despite her mother trying desperately to stay positive and act like everything was alright, Ren was not fooled. Ren tries to help out doing small jobs here and there but it just was not enough. Eventually Ren does something drastic. She sales herself into slavery, so that her mother could afford to live.

On the first day of slavery. She was given a dune rabbit and was told to take care of it. The reasoning she was given for this is that she will be expected to take care of their master and possibly the master’s family. She was to learn proper care-taking through this or so she was lead to believe. She named the rabbit Usagi. Slave training was harsh with severe punishments. Often she would be whipped for speaking, while being told that slaves should be seen and not heard. For major offenses she was put into a metal box for an hour. The box was outside in the sun and would bake anyone unfortunate to climb in there.

One day a slave kills one of the guards and escapes from her cell. It was quite obvious she did not exactly plan this out as she did not get very far before getting recaptured. Ren knew the woman would surely be killed for what she had done, however the truth was much scarier then she could imagine. The dark sage demanded all the slaves present to witness the woman’s punishment. He called it setting an example for those who would dare try escape. The woman was bound, gagged and chained to the floor. She was forced to sit in the middle of some huge seal.

The Sage places the bloodied instrument used to kill the guard before the seal and begins weaving hand seals. Ren watches his hands with unblinking eyes knowing he was about to do something grandiose. When the man finishes the seals and claps his hands, dust and ash begin to rise and encase the girl's body. Ren watched in horror as she saw the woman become a living sacrificed to bring the dead guard back to life. Ren manages to hold her lunch while others were not so lucky. Ren got a good look at the seals on the floor for the ritual as she was made to scrub them off after the ritual was concluded.

One month into slave training she was given an order and was told that disobedience would be punished with an entire day in the box. The order was to kill her rabbit. The rabbit was not to teach her proper care-taking, it was to test obedience. Ren does not even remember how it happen. All she remembers after getting that order was the rabbit lying dead at her feet and blood dripping from her hands. The slavers gave her and the rest of the slaves this horrible test to see which slaves were capable of killing a living thing. By passing this test she was sent to the stardust stadium and given the designation N37. The designation was put on a tag and was attached to her ear like an earring. One of the people at the stadium read the tag upside down and the name stuck. The Stardust Stadium is home to gladiatorial fights and sporting events. During her time there the dark sage would often come to the stadium to collect his money and inspect the condition of his fighters. Slave fighters were valuable, but not enough for him to use living sacrifices to bring them back. N42, who was one of her slave friends that died in a fight, was one such fighter. He used a puppet as a substitute sacrificed and surprisingly it worked. It was a partial resurrection but it was enough to keep N42 fighting.

The next day she does not remember; it was like a gap in her memories. She knew she was scheduled to fight that day against a quite powerful opponent. Despite how much she tries to remember what happened nothing would come to mind. Then the fateful day arrives when Ren was purchased by a shinobi of Suna. He did not treat her like a slave but as a daughter that he just adopted. He takes her home and even enrolls her into the academy. She owes him everything for that and because of this adoration she seeks to be more like him. He was a master puppeteer and she wished to be the same. Once she tried to move a puppet like he did but could not figure out how to produce chakra strings like he did. Seeing her attempts, her father gives her this rabbit hand puppet. He told her she must first learn how to crawl before she could run. She did not need stings to control the puppet and she is getting down the basics quite well.

He would tell her that it is not enough to simply channel ones thoughts through the puppet. To truly be a great puppeteer one must channel their very soul and he has taught her the way to do just that. One day at the Toroaono Dojo, she sits down cross-legged like in a meditative stance with her hands were held to her sides palms up and open, though her one hand was covered with a hand puppet. With eyes closed she pictures her soul as a small flame within her body. It shines within her body and flickers with every heartbeat. She concentrates on her breathing taking slow deep breathes. The air mixes with the fire and fans the flame. Ever so gradually it gets bigger, hotter and brighter. The light, the light was almost tangible as it flowed through her body like little streams. As more light was put out the rivers begin to flood in excess. Haku Ren directs the flow of light down her arm and into her puppet.

Ren instantly opens her eyes, looks at her puppet and smiles from ear to ear. She had tried this many times and failed, but this time she actually succeeded in channeling a part of her spirit into the puppet. To say that she was happy would be an understatement as she literally squeals in delight. Ren could feel the difference as the puppet now seems to have a spiritual aura about it. The puppet exclaims joyously. Ren then wraps her one arm around the puppet and pulls it into a loving embrace. However this would only be the beginning.
Normally Ren’s adoptive father would have given her a marionette to work with. Since a puppet with actual strings is the natural next step. However seeing how well Ren was able to immune her soul into the rabbit had puppet, he decides to test her abilities a little. He gives her a regular doll which she would need to use chakra strings to control. It was a porcelain doll which seems to wear a dress of large flower petals and it too had a flowery eye patch over its one eye.

Under the veil of night on the day of the blood moon Haku Ren awaits among the rocks that of the Luminous Mountains. The hanging moon was just in the right place to cause the residual glassy sand to cast various red hues on the mountains. Ren was always a visual learner and she still remembers the runes the sage used in his dark resurrection. She even still has the rag she used to clean up the runes. The rags was red with blood long since dried. From what she heard from the other slavers the blood used to scribe the rune for the ritual came from the save that would be used as the living sacrifice.

Ren was determined to bring back the slave that was killed in such a horrific fashion. She was unwilling to use a living sacrifice but thankfully the dark sage provided her with a different option. Ren weaves the hand seals as she remembers them and claps her hand. Dust and ash would begin to rise and encase the puppet's body. It looked like it was working, but then suddenly the dust and ash slips away and the puppet sat there physically unchanged. Ren thought she failed till the puppet spoke, “You, I know you.” It seems she must have messed up somewhere or simply lack the ability to fully cast the ritual. However she was at the very least able to bring this slave back in a new body.
