Haku Ren was nothing but a little girl still in the academy. She does not possess the skill to stalk a member of the swarm much less the strength to capture one. She is far too easily scared and frighten to study one of the swarm to test for weaknesses. She cannot even lift a hammer used for forging weaponry, but there must be some things she can do for the village. She was talented in something, but could those talents be put to use? Ventriloquism seems hardly useful. Baking sweets only helps so much and did not really fit the mission given. Perhaps she can sew something as one of the mission did mention something about augmenting the wall. Ren purchase several bolts of fabric among other things and goes to work on her creations. She toils for four days sewing and when she was finally finished she takes them to the wall.
They were too heavy and numerous to transport by hand, not if she wanted to do it in a few trips as possible. She piles half of them into her little red wagon and pull it along to the wall. It was a slow venture and the weight was still a little much for her, but she finally gets there. Upon arrival an Anbu descends from a guard post. Ren did not particularly like the Anbu as she found the animal mask to be frightening. As water begins to form in her eyes the hand puppet she wore rose up and pets Ren on the head. “Everything is alright. He is not going to hurt you. Everything is alright.” Ren begins to calm down at the rabbits words despite it actually being her own.
The Anbu looks at the girl, then at the wagon and then back at the girl once more. The Anbu knew of the mission posted for those wishing to become journeymen, but did not expect someone so young to take up the call. The Anbu doubts that she would provide anything of serious help to the cause, but it is not his place to judge. “What do you have for the wall?”
Ren stares up at the anbu seemingly petrified. “I-I-I…” The words were stuck in her mouth and despite her desperately trying to spit them out, it just won’t come. She then goes silent and the rabbit speaks in her place, which causes the Anbu to raise an eyebrow under his mask. “We come bringing banners for the wall.” The bunny puppet then goes over to the wagon and grabs a piece of the fabric in her small paws and pulls it to the anbu. The banner was unravels only a little bit but it was enough to show the anbu her work.
The design seem simple, but that was not what displeased the anbu. Holding the part of the banner given to him he shakes his head. “Large banner like these would only serve to give something the swarm to climb.”
“Exactly!” The rabbit announces excitedly, which confused the anbu even more. He looks at the banner more carefully and studies the embroidery. The design may be simple but it seem to glimmer in the light. Upon touch it felt smooth and hard like metal. “Try not to get yourself entangled hanging it.” The Anbu then understood what this was. This banner was a giant ninja wire trap.
“Interesting”
