Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Remembering what had happened, he could only recall that he had left from his village and all ready to return to his former home for answers, but all of a sudden his mind went blank and the lights knocked out of him. The noises buzzed in his ear, the searing heat he never felt penetrated his skin. His shoes slowly sinking into the grainy flooring. He could feel his body back to him, the aching pain that waited for him. He had no idea what happened, he could only say that his legs were about to break. Using his strength to open his eyes, a blinding light greeted him. Shadows moving from left to right. The noises that buzzed through his head became clearer as he regained his vision, he was in a market in a middle of the desert from the looks of it. People garbed in thick rugs to cover their faces, carrying antique jars and woven baskets.

Looking down on the ground he could see his legs trembling, barely keeping him from standing up. He looked around for a place to rest, but the crowd swarmed around him, voices turned to noise once more as he tried to clear his head and concentrate, there was a nearby mound of sand behind a stall, shaded and seemingly cool for a hot place. Using the people around him as a support, he made his way towards the place before giving in to his legs, slumping down into the mound as it covered his clothes and hair the moment he fell into it. "Guess I'm visiting Suna's village for now. He whispered to himself, letting his legs get the rest it deserved.

They had visited The Bazaar on the outskirts of Suna once again. It seemed the place held interesting characters and brought about interesting events for the two of them, if their meeting with the strange man called Junnan was any indication. And, ridiculous as this may sound, they had a good feeling about returning here today of all days! Maybe they’ll again find something else to amuse them. They couldn’t exactly do such things in the village proper, still acting like a good lad and lady for the Kazekage.

But here? It’s pretty much free game.

Though, they weren’t exactly looking hard for it. What fun would it be if they sought out trouble and adventure? When those things were always eager to come to them?

That’s when they felt it, nagging at the edges of the barriers they had constructed in their mind. The borders in which separated them from the pathetic, feckless worms that overpopulated this earth. For being empaths were both a blessing and a curse. As useful as it could be, they could easily drown in the emotions of the many had they not learned to separate the them from the us.

But they felt this person.

Exhausted. Confused. Curious.

Now, those emotions in and of themselves were quite ordinary. But for them to pick it out from the masses when they were always working so hard to block them from their minds, these common maggots who aren’t worth the dirt under their boot? It had to be a somebody. Somebody they had once known perhaps?

That’s when they spotted him. No doubt he had grown from the kid they once knew, the student they had once taught (and perhaps thrown out a window once or twice). But along with those emotions, that inherit air that was different with every man, woman and child, they would recognize him.

“Do our eyes deceive? It’s Widdle Mowi!” they called out in a sing song voice, making a beeline for the boy. “Who would have thought we’d run into you here?”

Timed passed from seconds to minutes, closing his eyes to get a moment of clarity from everything that was happening to him. His legs weren't the only ones that needed resting, his head was ringing nonstop, like someone forcefully jammed their hands into his skull and left a tiny bell. It wasn't painful at all but the ringing was annoying to the point it was giving him a migraine. Perhaps it was the heat, but the sand beneath him and the shade provided by the shop gave him ample cover from the sun. He couldn't bother thinking about it, it was already tiring him out to the point where he'd just rather doze off and forget everything. Maybe that was actually the good decision, to sleep it off. His body already adjusted from the sand, his legs was still aching. The noise of the busy street nearby acted as a white noise, he was getting used to it, playing like an endless melody of merchants shouting for discounts and goods.

"A couple of hours of rest won't get me robbed or anything... hopefully." He thought to himself. Clearly he was in a foreign territory but education and books thought him the obvious signs of where he is, or at the very least, he was near the village of Suna. Unless of course, there's another place in the world that has an endless desert stretching over the horizon, which he seriously doubted.

For a moment, he felt at peace. Worries of his body being taken away and sold into a black market was the least of his worries. He was capable of defending himself. Soon he could feel his his consciousness slipping away, towards the dream as always when the melody passing through his ears was interrupted with a voices. Two particular familiar voices that sung in unison, calling out to him as if mocking him in a playful manner, yet he couldn't help to open his eyes to meet the source of these voices.

Opening his right eye, he saw man and a woman standing before him. He would naturally jump away from a stranger knowing the short distance between him and them, but then again, his legs wouldn't allow such action. He tried to make the best of the situation and tried to remember who these people were. A memory surging through his mind. An image of him sitting quietly in a classroom, a man with pale skin and white hair entering through the doors. Another image burned through his mind, the same situation yet it was a woman of pale skin and white hair. Both had uncanny resemblance with each other. He remembered. He knew who these people are.

"Wait... Akihiki-senpai? Akane-senpai?" He uttered as gazed at them, his head tilting to the right. Something felt off. He was so concentrated in their faces that he realized a tad bit late on some important details, mainly their physique. Their heads were unusually close to each other and there were only two arms visible and a grotesque number of legs.

"Holy shit, what happened?!" He exclaimed, trying to back off yet the sand made his attempt a rather pathetic one as he simply remained in place. "A-are you okay?" He added, his tone of voice showed obvious signs of distress and nervousness.

They weren’t mistaken. Not that they had any doubts, of course! Little Mori had been one of their favorite students, often threatening to throw him out the window. Though he was never a stupid enough kid and never had the honor of going through defenestration, courtesy of the monstrous twins of the Mist.

And here he was, smack dab in the middle of the fuckin’ desert, lying on a tiny hill that’s... well, it’s probably an ant hill. Or, you know what? Let’s be honest, it’s probably one made by a Sandworm that needs attention. Not that that mattered!

He was a Kiri Nin. They were Kiri Nins. It was luck the fates were smiling down on them. To think fortune would be so kind to gift them one of their kiddies. Though why they would find him vulnerable in such a dangerous place, it was a cause of concern. Why, just the other day, they had to dispatch a murderous Dark Sage! Of course, that isn’t a pot calling the kettle black. Not at all.

“That’s Akihiko-sensei and Akane-sensei to you, brat!” Akihiko grinned, a smile that was all teeth and crimson eyes peeking through slits. “I can’t believe you would get my name wrong when I would never do that to you, Widdle Mowi.”

“Now now, child. Language,” Akane admonished with a click of her tongue. There is real disappointment in her tone but she tries to pretend it is only because of her crass word choice. They pretend they don’t see an old friend, one of their countrymen, try to flee at the sight of them. Had they wished to explain, this wasn’t the time nor place for it. Not that they would. Mori had been young when they last saw him; not a long standing ally to trust or burden with such dark, secret things.

A hard look glazes over the twin sister’s eyes as they step towards him and she grabs him by the front of his shirt, lifting him off the ground with ease. “Don’t you worry now. As you can see we are quite alright. See? Fit as a fiddle. Fit enough to lift you like a little baby,” she hums with a brittle smile.

Akihiko sighed with a shake of his head. “Tsk, tsk! See how you hurt Akane-sensei’s feelings? Do we have to throw you out a window to jog your memory and to remind you of your manners? Too bad there are no tall buildings here.”

“Maybe we should remedy that, brother dearest? What say we give you a ride, young Mori? We can get you closer to village proper if you like? That must be where you’re going, isn’t it?”
Her voice is sweet. Too sweet. And any one who knew her from her glory days as a teacher and a leader in Mist knows that is a very dangerous thing.

Without warning, they start running off with the boy in tow, held so carelessly by the front of his shirt. It’s an odd sight to see the conjoined twins running up the side of the building in order to travel the rooftops. Even odder to see them do so while seemingly kidnapping a young man while they’re at it! They hop from rooftop to rooftop with ease, four legs doing a lot of work in the process. Mori is nothing but a sack of potatoes to them as they hop and skip away from the crowd. The crowd of maggots that infested this place.

His mind went wild seeing a familiar face after so many years has passed. Thinking about it, he never did think of what happened to his friends when the incident from Mist occurred. Perhaps they died? Maybe they managed to escape with their families? Or maybe something like this happened to them, with the last thought solely focused on the twins. He was thinking a bit faster than he could decide what to say, messing up the honorific when he tried to address his former teachers, even worse - his name. He knew how much they loved to punish him and his classmates back then for making a simple yet innocent mistake, as if they really loved the way to torture them.

The twins continued to taunt him still, giving him the vibes they were obviously toying with him rather than a personal greeting. On the other hand, it has been way too long since he last met these two. Were they always like this? He couldn't honestly tell given the situation currently with his body and now this. "I-I'm sorry." He uttered before them, a hint of confusion in his voice. Everything that has happened was way too weird. Normally he could comprehend things out of this world, but when rather normal things appear out of nowhere, out of the lines of normality, some would say it's a coincidence but he didn't believe in such things.

Even when he apologized, Akihiko proceeded to lift him with his side of an arm, a monstrous strength. "Please don't." He replied when Akihiko suggested throwing him out of a window. Even when the place was covered in sand, who knows what disaster lies beneath the sand. Akane continued, teasing him about carrying him to the village proper. It wasn't exactly the thought of a free piggyback ride would come to his head, especially not with them. Before he could even speak, his vision suddenly blurred, passing through the streets and never ending scenery of sand dunes. He was pulled in tow by the shirt like a rag doll, as if his body could even handle more pressure and stress. Enough was enough.

Closing his eyes to focus. He listened attentively to his surroundings, the sound of the hustle and bustle of the market soon fading away. They were moving away from the public, probably an ideal thing. Not like he actually had issues causing a scene in a crowd, he was known as a specialist in those kinds of situations. The moment the familiar noise was replaced with the surge of wind passing through his face and ears, he opened his eyes and at the moment, he phased out from the twin's grasp, slowly floating away from them. His own body shifting through the other realm, he gently landed in an open space, a few dunes of sand here and there but it was quiet. He knew the twins would notice his absence in their hold, but that's the intention anyway. "Perhaps it's about time I show you that I've changed. I've changed so much since we last met." He calmly stated, putting a little emphasis on the latter part.

They had both wonderful and terrible reputations as teachers in Mist.

On the one hand, most who they had given attention to had been able to go far, to rise in the ranks once they were full fledged shinobi. It was funny how they had taught some of the best Medics and ANBUs, even a captain or two, but remained out of official leadership positions themselves (aside from Akane's brief stint as a Captain, straight after her ANBU exam). There had been too many excuses. They had to look after their brother. They had to look after their students. They had to look after their patients. They had to look after their projects. It just wasn’t meant to be. And the Great Freeze that took over Mist sealed that fact.

On the other hand, many thought them cruel for their gruesome classes that had sent one too many students into the infirmary for either physical or mental problems. Sometimes, even both. They had ruined many young shinobi careers, as many as they had made. But they had honestly believed that if they could not survive them in the Academy, they would not fare well in the real world. They had broken students before the world could do it in a way that would cost them their lives.

It was an easy to lie to believe that Mori was only afraid of the monstrous teachers who plagued Mist students’ nightmares. But they knew it wasn’t the case. They didn’t have long to make or break this boy, their time as student and teachers cut short when the Shoukyou and the Isaki clans left, exiled from their own motherlands.

His disappearance was quick and it took a second longer than they’d like to notice. It spoke of power. And of promise. Oh, how little ones grow. And that placed such terrifying grins on their faces.

“It’s a bit sad, isn’t it?”

“To think that one of our students-”

“Changed so much without us?”

"Let’s see what you've learned."

Bring it.

The moment he slipped through their fingers, it was already an act of defiance and things were about to get pretty rough. Now that his teachers were in front of him, his previous recall of memories was now surging through his mind. Times and moments of their so-called 'education' where one of them were casually thrown out of the window as if it was nothing. It was almost like schedule to both the twins and them, it was either himself or his classmates getting thrown out, boy or girl, it didn't matter as long as they made a mistake that they find either 'cute' or 'disrespectful' or even perhaps both, they'll find themselves flying through the air in mere seconds. Thankfully, the pond was just outside the classroom's window, but re-entering the class soaking wet was never a good thing even during the start of the school year, everyone would laugh at the poor soul thrown out of the room until it became a thing, that's when the laughter stopped.

Now it came to this, him against his teachers. He took a deep breath, his legs were still aching from his travel, but the adrenaline coursing through his body helped ease the pain. This is the real thing. He knew he was old now, but even so Akihiko-sensei and Akane-sensei wouldn't go easy on him, they never did even when they were younger. The earth grumbled beneath the sand, slowly clinging on top of his teachers. He had to react quickly, he jumped towards a dune of sand, but his strength and speed failed him easily, plunging half of his body beneath the sand. An embarrassing moment. He was glad it was just the three of them in the scene, then again, it was those two whose with him and he couldn't help imagining them bursting into laughter in his pathetic attempt. "Recover. Recover quickly." He thought to himself as he shook off the sand off him before taking out a piece of paper.

He held it between his fingers, his own chakra gathering around his hand when he caught a glimpse of his senseis, something struck him. A feeling of awe and praise for them. He could feel his own guts twisting and turning, he was disgusted with himself for feeling such emotions but he couldn't let that get between them. Slipping the paper back into his shirt, he could feel something interfering with his thoughts but he simply shrugged off. Forming a set of handseals, he concentrated on the twins. "Now the fun begins." A momentary grin appeared in his face, almost vicious and disturbing when the moment was broken when he felt every bone in his body shaking, a brief moment when his vision turned black followed by an intense pain in his chest. His teachers literally punched him with stone and it hurts like hell. He grasps his chest, a quick wince the moment his fingers came in contact with his chest. He tried to breath, but it even that was painful, he had to control his pain. Slowing down his breathing to ease the stress in his chest, he looked at the twins when all of the sudden a stone flew towards him, grazing him by his leg.

"I guess there's no timeout like before? As if you even gave us one." He told the twins with a heavy breathing and with his face in pain.

The scent and chakra of all his family were heavily embed into his mind. He could easily sense them from a mile away, and track them down with a pinpoint precision. He reached the entrance to the bazaar, his next step forward was a bit hesitant; terrible thing happened here, and not just to him, but to people he referred to as "comrade". Though he had to persevere and find his brother. Through the musk of everyone elses odor he could still sense his brother, who seemed to be on the outskirts, away from the masses, Typical Mori... Have to be away from all the people.

Though the weather in Soon's by no means required as scarf, the fabric was thankfully very breathable, and prevented his face from getting sunburnt; and if it ever got too hot he could just also create a snowstorm to cool off the area drastically, but luckily the wind was blowing strong, and the sun wasn't blazing too harshly. His gaze in the sky, not a single chance of rain, but a grin would follow, he could easily conjure rain right there, but it wasn't natural, didn't have the same mystique that a natural storm had. It was exhilarating.

He came to the cusps of the outskirts. In the distance he could see two figures, maybe three, fighting, or simply sparring. From here he could tell one of the participants was his brother Mori, but the other two had a strange familiarity to them, like he has met them before. With the wind blowing against hi, he continued to walk towards the fray, and as he did the faces of the strangers became clearer. They were the Shoukyou Twins, Akane and Akihiko.

He would be standing behind Mori, about fifteen feet behind him slightly to the right, just so his field of view also encompassed the twins. His steps were silent in his approach, Your technique is a little sloppy brother, getting rusty? He snickered with a snarky grin on his face. He would pull the scarf down from his mouth revealing the rest of his face; the last time he came in contact with the twins was in the coliseum in cloud, but prior to that he remembered them as two separate entities; the shinobi world was filled with mysteries, how they became conjoined was of no matter of discussion. Green rippled eyes would gaze at the twins through a pair of thin spectacles, with a quiet look on his face he called out to them, It has been some time, Akane-chan. How have you been? A thin smile would cross his face as he would place himself in a position to where he could watch to two more effectively.

It didn’t matter that this was their darling student, did it? The two had to be prepared, always prepared for a battle, for betrayal. And though the situation in itself wasn’t that dire and serious, there is to be no holding back. They had to keep appearances; show no weakness or mercy unless they’re taken, yet again, against their will.

Deep breaths.

Eyes closed.

Focus.

The sand around their feet starts to gather, forming hardened scales over their body, the very color and sheen an exact match to a rattlesnake’s. People had always likened them to snakes: sneaky, poisonous and crafty even with their beauty. And the two never did anything to dissuade these thoughts. If anything, they only proved them right.

And it’s ridiculous to think you can escape from a snake once it has you in its hold.

“We-”

“See-”

“You.”

Their laughter echoed as their gaze, hypnotizing and powerful, locked on to the boy. There was an alluring quality about them now, even with their monstrous and ugly form. Mori was this boy who thought he could learn tricks to become a snake charmer. When it’s completely the other way around!

Akihiko pulls back his left hand, the earthen scales spreading and growing further, before they lunge forward to strike where Mori had fallen in the sand. It’s a quick motion but the power put into it is enough to jar anyone’s bones. They have to twist and jump away, wary of getting within physical striking range.

It wasn’t even a second later that a stone bullet erupts from Akihiko’s still deformed fist. “The real world waits for no one, child,” Akane scolds him before looking to her twin. It soars and the thing is clearly trying to break their opponent’s legs and-

It has been some time, Akane-chan.

Only for it to nearly miss.

How have you been?

The bullet ricochets and flies off towards the newcomer, barely missing his face by a few inches. And the two look up to survey him, giving Mori the brief second timeout he might dearly need. And it doesn’t take an empath to see the intrigue he carried about him. What their capabilities did pick up on were much more... troublesome.

The feeling of desire and the hint of lust they could feel from an old flame was disarming, at the very least.

Akihiko doesn’t miss a beat to holler back at him: “What? You get your rocks off seeing us beat your little brother, K? Get it? Rocks? Stone bullet?”

Akane, on the other hand, well... she really wasn’t expecting to meet him again. Not like this: when he and Akihiko were...

“Wait! Is that my scarf?”

The world was his and his alone. Despite the struggle he's experiencing, he'll find a way to take them back to their place - within the comfort of his palm. The twins on the other hand, turned into a snakelike entity. Grotesque and primitive. The sight was quite disgusting for him, though deep down, he found their appearance rather fitting. Although he wished to display his dislike of their appearance in terms of words and expression, the battle was still going on and there was no time for such feedback. He kept his eyes focused on the twins as smoke started to appear out of nowhere, engulfing them from within. He wanted to catch them, stop them, but his body failed to react all of the sudden. Those feelings from before swelled up and clouded his mind, he watched them conjure two dragons made of darkened stones, rough on the edges but a dragon nonetheless.

He could feel his body returning back to him, the control he desperately wanted to win this fight. The moment the twins jumped towards one of her creations, a brilliant sun appeared above them. Streams of flame danced around it as the sun slowly started its descent towards his former teacher. They'll get burned and it'll probably hurt, but that's the price one has to pay in battle. He didn't stop, he prepared one more surprise for the two. Pointing his finger into the skies when something struck him on the side of his stomach, it was only for a brief moment, but it certainly made a good gash on his side. He held to his wound as blood started to sip through his fingers as he started to grin.

Twinkling stars flashed in the skies, growing larger as the seconds passed. One would believe that they'd be a shooting star and perhaps they would be correct in that matter with a slight difference. These stars weren't passing through, they were hurling down towards Akane and Akihiko. One, then two, then three. One by one the stars crashed into the area, sand and dust engulfed the place, but even with the height of the action, another stone broke through the cloud of sand and dust, hitting and badly bruising his leg. He would let out a yelp, but then he heard a noise and a familiar presence near him, it bothered him too much to concentrate further.

Looking up, he found his older brother, Kouin behind him. Kouin greeted him with some brotherly-mockery and he simply replied with a smile. "Well, compared to you maybe. I'm still learning after all. He answered nonchalantly. This was quite a troublesome development for his side, in a sense that his brother arrived. His older brother knew about the Akane-sensei, perhaps he also knew about their treatment of their students. Mainly himself for that matter, but on the other hand, he may not. Would be a good time tell him now that the proof is in front of him, but then again, those were years back. He wondered on that thought for a moment before facing Kouin. "So what brings you here, big brother?" He asked.

Their crystal serpents shattered beneath them, its time on this plain of existence short lived, as a Rasengan – bane of their existence, that technique is – ripped through all of them. And there was pain as their flesh tore and burned, even with their scales. The stars fall from the sky too, striking them down, as if the highest celestial beings had looked down upon these monsters and saw them unfit to exist.

They don’t know how exactly they feel about this. Though they peeled themselves off the ground despite their horrid state. They were far worst off now than they first started this fight.

“Twinkle, twinkle, little star... how I wonder what you are-” Akihiko’s voice echoed through the field only to stop as red eyes widened in wonder. Twin heads cocked to the side in interest. All attention was on the younger Kaze now, Kouin near forgotten in the heat of their battle. If one can call it a battle anyway. “Can you feel that, sister mine? The pain is odd, isn’t it? Not quite what it should be. A whisper, a murmur, a dull buzz. This is a Genjutsu, isn’t it?”

Their grins widened on their faces, half delirious and half joyous.

“Looks like widdle Mowi isn’t so widdle anymore!”

“None of our students have managed this before.”

“How wonderful! A Genjutsu! This is truly something!”

“A Genjutsu! How marvelous! Stupendous! Bravo! Bravo!”

The two clapped their hands together, applause for one of their brightest pupils, as their faces lit up in pride and joy. It was an odd and jarring image considering the two’s current state. Though the looks on their faces had a touch of madness, as if they were holding back and torn between crazed laughter and manic anger. It was clear that the two were any more sane than the last time anyone from Mist saw them from before the Great Freeze. Dabbling in necromancy does things to one’s head after all. And the torture and experimentation they had gone through did nothing to help at all. If anything, fighting simulated them going over the edge.

They walked towards Mori, still in that jovial mood as they did not bother to attack further, and leaned forward with a dark gleam in their eyes. “But let’s make sure we don’t have an encore of this grand performance, yes? Otherwise, it may very well be your last.” Big hypocrites that they are, they liked torturing and experimenting and messing with other people’s minds. But they did not like it being done on them.

Akane sneered then: “Now break the Genjutsu before we break you.”

“And that was a low blow of you, to create your brother in this illusionary world,”
Akihiko added with a scoff.

It was catching up to him, like a starving dog ready to deliver a savage bite to those who dare block his path towards his food. Exhaustion, pain, everything that could possibly knock someone out cold. It was there, slowly creeping from the soles of his feet towards his chest. The beat of his heart that used to play a rhythm he thoroughly enjoyed was now in a state of panic, beats that would make you question if you're still human.

"Let's take a break... I can't keep up with you senseis." Mori urged towards the twins, heaving heavily. His breathing was rather unnatural, his body felt like breaking, slowly but surely. The feeling of his fingers and his toes disappeared, his view slowly started to descend before swerving to the right. The scorching heat of the sand met his face and it burned, but for some reason it felt comfortable. Perhaps it's his body forcefully making him rest? Regardless of the thought, his body started to numb.

The twins on the other hand started cheering and remark his usage of Genjutsu, it's not like he had any other talent than playing tricks. He could barely smile, but the realization that his senseis has actually praised him for once was quite... a change of environment and a weird one for that matter; of all the places to be praised it had to be in the blazing desert and had to be done through battle. He would like to say something, his eyes gazing back at them as they approached him, it struck him immediately. The feeling of despair and terror. Even after those praises, he couldn't ignore the fact that these people lived in a world where the torture and pain are their past time hobby.

They whispered, their words filled with hate and irritation. He simply nodded from the ground, shifting the grains of sand around his head. The twins continued, demanding to release them from the Genjutsu. It was gone, long before they realized they were under one. Thanks to his older brother who interrupted his concentration for one, but then again the jutsu he used to distort and play with their reality was more effective than he initially thought.

"Low blow? You're already out of the illusion sensei and that's the real deal."
