Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

It had been a week since the incident with the sandworm had happened. Kasen had spent the majority of the first 3 days unconscious, her body trying to expend energy where needed. Given that Kasen had the healing properties from the shark dna and genetic engineering done to her system, she had accelerated growth and the clotting from the chigokai blood infused with her own only sped up the process. When she had came to she noticed the hole was still visible, but it appeared to have closed a bit, most of the flesh in the middle having woven itself back and not it was only part of her skin that was sunk in, still visibly healing around the area. After a quick assessment she had realized the tendril had spared most of her vital organs. It was still incredibly painful once she had sat up and applied some healing jutsu of her own, but the wound still needed lots of gauze and bandaging while it waited to revitalize itself. She found it incredibly painful to move, sitting up made her incredibly dizzy and she had to clench her jaw to do so. Kaen hadn't left her alone, she could tell by the bags under his eyes and sitting in the chair beside her bed. She was thankful to have access to this small clinic. She took a deep breath, remembering the trauma he experienced. She managed to use some of her energy to quickly heal his back, she couldn't stand if he suffered any longer trying to take care of her. Tears came to her eyes as she thought of all that had happened.

She had realized that until she had finished healing a bit more, she would be unable to walk without extreme pain searing through her body. So she had been tethered to a wheelchair. She sighed. She couldn't burden Kaen asking him to take care of her, after he already did so much. He wouldn't look at it like a burden but she didn't want to put that on him. No, she sent a quick letter out, a letter for hire, asking for a temporary caretaker. She would pay well, after all their employer always set them up with very good pay after information was transferred to her. Kasen wheeled herself outside, sitting with a blanket in what would be considered their "garden". It didn't grow flowers, it was the wrong type of environment, but she had a small herb garden that managed to survive. And it was sunny and there was a nice breeze, catching the smell of salt and brine from the sea.

Oh how she wished that she could go out there. Although a wheelchair in the sand is about as effective as running on wet ice. The smell of the ocean brought thoughts to her head about Samebizu. She had been trying to talk to her ever since she woke up. As far as she could remember from being unconscious, she didn't remember seeing or hearing Same once."Same? Will you talk to me? Please....I miss you." The silence was deafening. Kasen found herself starting to cry. She pressed both hands to her face, slightly hunched over as deep sobs wracked her body. It didn't help that her torso started throbbing in pain either. She placed on hand over the bandaged area and rubbed it tenderly. Her hand then fisted in the fabric of her shirt pulling slightly as she tried to stop the tears from falling. She knew Same was mad at her, but she hadn't ever ignored her like this. It hurt her worse than any flesh wound ever could. Kasen sniffled and placed her hands in her lap. She wasn't sure if she should wait outside or go back in and maybe rest. Someone had responded to the ad she had put up, she was supposed to greet them today. It was probably wise not to show them how broken she truly felt. She wiped away the last of her tears but couldn't manage to bring a smile to her face. Now all she had to do was sit and wait. Not much else she could do anyway.

"Okay... let's start this bullshit..." Ayame said to herself, watching at the ceiling in her room. Someone decided to hire a caretaker and Ayame was set to do community service work, because of a trouble she made recently in a bar. So they found a job to be that person's assistant. She only knew that this person fought with the sandwrom that attacked the village and she guessed that the person is in a pretty bad shape, but he was a powerful one to fight the monster.

Ayame never took care of someone other than herself. And most of the time she took care of her wounds with pretty old and not that good methods, so she wasn't exactly sure what she'd do there, but at least she wasn't going to collect the trash on the streets.
She reached with her hand for the glass of water that should be in the table, but didn't catch it. The girl looked for the glass and saw it the ground and the water was all over the floor.
"Dammit".
She went by the only window in the room and opened the curtains. Another sunny day, but this time maybe not filled with so much troubles. Still... she preferred the troubles. For now.
She finished her morning procedure, which was washing her teeth and taking a really quick shower. The girl dressed up in her black clothes with some leather strips and her combat boots and looked at the poor ramshackled room. She didn't mind living this way. To be honest this was the best place she lived, after, of course, Nataku's home, but even the greatest things has to come to an end.
- Nataku... - she whispered to the air and closed the door on the outside.
The girl got down the stairs and entered directly at the inn. Almost empty like always at this time of the day, but there were still some people that managed to drink even now. Admirable.

Ayame was close to the house when she stopped. The girl felt uneasiness. Give her a job to steal, to stalk, to kidnap, to interrogate, but this... this was way out of her comfort zone.
"Ok, Ayame... think of it as a mission. You have to pretend you're the caretaker while you'll have to steal something important. Pretend, act, pretend, act..."
And this helped. All her life she had to pretend to be someone else, just to get information or steal something, that she kinda lost her real self, because of the acting. Her arrival in this village and Nataku changed this and the girl started finding herself once again, but after the tough separation from him she was once again left with the thought "Who am I and how can I act as myself?"

There was no time to lose. The girl ringed on the doorbell and noticed... she had dried blood on her shoe.
- Shit...
She started scrubbing the blood with her other shoe. That made the things worse... now the shoe was dirty and the blood was still there.
"Way to go, Ayame! The best first impression!" - she thought - "Why am I like this...?"

The pain gnawed at his nerves like termites to a oaken home. So many factors were intertwined, resulting in the mess that was Kaen. He had barely slept a wink, maybe a few hours over the last three days. Tirelessly watching over Kasen has he supervised her recovery. She had been unconscious for the entirety of the healing process, possibly for the best really... given the pain that surely would have accompanied it. Eyes bloodshot, heavy puffy bags under them. Hell, he didn't even make time for himself. Spending every waking moment he could with Kasen meant giving up luxuries like clean clothes and a shower... he had to smell awful by now. But again he couldn't really help it, in the state he was, he was lucky to even be walking around. His spine felt as if it was being torn apart with every movement. But he had to push on for the sake of his sister, for without him she would surely be in danger. Every other medic was far to busy dealing with that red plague bullshit. Luckily Kasen had taught him a little bit about her medical jutsu, not much but surely it was better than nothing. In secret he also read up on simple bandaging techniques and did the best he could to patch her up while she was unconscious. Kaen had just changed Kasen's bandages all while she slept. It was easier that way, he tried once before while she was awake and it was a nightmare. The pain was just too much at the time, so he resorted to some genjutsu to help her sleep while he did what he needed to. Taking a moment to take a break in the chair next to her bed, he heard her stir. Kasen had woken up again, immediately sitting up. She winced in pain as the unhealed muscled strained to pull her up to a sitting position. Kaen scrambled to his feet to help her, but was promptly stopped by the pain of his fractured spine. Kasen beckoned him over to her bedside where she then did what she could to heal his back. The gentle emerald waves soaked deep into his spine and refortified the brittle bones that had set for far too long. While not a full fix, he was able to move around easily without pain after that. It would take some time, but the Shinku siblings would be back in action in no time, or so he hoped... Kasen began to tear up after the fact, Kaen couldn't do anything but hold her in his arms.

It seemed that Kasen had sent out a letter for hire, someone to come and be her caretaker. They had fought over the issue, if you could even call it fighting, but Kaen quickly gave in when it came to an abrupt tear filled end. He couldn't bear to watch her suffer to much and if it meant that she didn't want him around, then he would have to give her the space she needed. Being bound to a wheelchair would make him depressed just as much as she clearly was. Every time he would try and help her around the house she would get mad and tell him she could do it herself. While it was quite admirable to see her try and remain so strong, it also hung heavy on his heart and mind that she needed him... even if she herself wouldn't say it. She pulled herself out of bed and into her chair and begun to wheel her chair outside. He wanted to say "Hey lemme help you." but knew already she wouldn't want him too. All he could do was watch her descent into dark despair, he was powerless to help her and even more powerless to have saved her to begin with. DAMNIT... If only I was stronger... He had continuously beat himself up internally over the issue, he was so weak in comparison to the others that battled for their lives and the lives of Suna. All he did was get thrown around. The other's might say differently about it, but Kaen would continue to feel insecure about the whole ordeal.

Kaen could hear his sister outside, pleading to Samebizu to talk to her, again. In all the years since they escaped that place, Same had always been with her. It was scary at first, but they quickly bonded somehow and Same practically was like family to her. And now for her to just ignore her completely? He couldn't possibly fathom what was going on in her head right now. He desperately wanted to ask, but now just wasn't the time... "Same? Will you talk to me? Please....I miss you." It was like a stake to the heart listening to that... Kaen begun to well up and a single tear slid down his right cheek. Everything just kinda felt numb, what was the point if he couldn't even save the one person he actually cared about... The pair cried together, but apart, both in mourning over what was lost and lacking. It was then that the doorbell was rung. Kaen would be the one to answer the door, leaving Kasen to her own devices in the herb garden.

Slowly shuffling and hobbled, Kaen made his way to the door and opened it. Black straps, clothes and combat boots all wrapped around a quaint young lady. While he far too tired and worn out to really notice who it was, he waved her inside none the less. "You must be the caretaker my sister sent for, yeah?" He beckoned for her to follow him into the next room where Kasen's bed area was. It consisted of a few monitors and other miscellaneous medical supplies. Bandages and gauze had been strewn about in the chaos that had gone on. Having being a wreck himself, he had no time to clean up. Hopefully the girl didn't mind too much. Rubbing his eyes, he instructed the girl to stay a moment while he touched bases with his sister. "Wait here a sec please." Kaen then ventured outside and approached Kasen. Kneeling down beside her wheelchair he took her hand in his own. He noticed she had been crying again... With his free hand he lovingly placed a lock of her crimson hair behind her ear and smiled. "Hey... The caretaker you sent for is here. I'm gonna go put on a pot of coffee for you two and get myself cleaned up. I'll leave you to it... I love you Kas... And with that he returned to the previous room and addressed the caretaker. "She'll see you now." Slowly shuffling and hobbled, he made his way past the young lady and into the kitchen where he put on some coffee. He prepared extra so he could have some himself when he was out of the shower. Kaen closed the bathroom door behind him and turned on the water to the shower. Hopefully those two will get along...

The girl was surprised to see the red haired man, who opened the door. It seem that he didn't recognize her, but even if he did, she had to act professional. Ayame was here for the job, no matter the job - mission or something like this she acted serious.
The girl nodded in response to his question and followed.
He seemed... worn out, tired, sad. The house was a mess, it seemed like no one was cleaning. There was dust, the air was heavy, the floor needed to be cleaned... They sure were hurt, but this wasn't the only reason behind the mess here. It seemed that they stopped caring anymore. She guessed so by the look on Kaen's face and how he ignored everything along the way. Something strange was going on here, but Ayame didn't know what yet.

She followed him to some room, while observing everything along the way. The house held sensation of anger and sadness.
Ayame waited here like Kaen told her.
She looked around the room - some monitors, medical supplies all around, bandages and gauze all over the floor, they should have opened at least the window for some fresh air.
"Did these guys gave up on life?" - she asked herself.
Everything pointed to that. The question was "why"?
She knew she was going to take care of someone who fought the sandworm, so she guessed he/she or the people would be happy to know they survived this dangerous threat and saved so many lives. They were heroes for most of the people, but they sure looked like they'd rather die.
After a while the man came back and told her she is ready to see her, then passed like a ghost and went to the kitchen.
"What the fuck..." thought the girl.
Okay... now she had to find the girl, cause it seemed that the red haired boy didn't gave a damn to take her to her.
What if she was a thief? Well... she actually was, but wasn't here for stealing.
While wandering around the house, Ayame was seeing signs, one after another, that these people were totally lost. They were strange.

She ended up outside through some door and saw the back of a wheelchair. Someone was there. Ayame looked around and noticed a garden, but that garden had no flowers, just herbs.
"So... just as I guessed... some of them is a medic."
Ayame went to the girl on the wheelchair and...
- You?!
She knew her. She met her in the asylum. This girl killed a sandworm?! Ayame was really surprised. But something else got her attention - her sclera, the white in the eye, was red. On her cheeks were dried traces of tears and she didn't look happy at all.
"What's wrong with these people..." Ayame thought and knelt in front of Kasen.
- Hey... I'm Ayame - the Uchiha girl spoke with a soft voice - why were you crying? I will take care of you and you'll be fine, I promise!
Ayame smiled at her. The readhead helped her back in the asylum so now she had to return the favor.

It felt like an eternity that she had sat there, just staring into the herbs. Should she wheel herself in? It wasn't exactly like she had the energy to do that. It was probably a combination of her sustained injuries as well as the depression she felt from the disappearance of Same, but she couldn't bring herself to do more than limply sit here. Speaking of that, she heard a door open and close gently behind her, notifying her of a presence behind her. She recognized the heartbeat and the footsteps. Kaen. A new sensation of guilt filled her. She was cruel to him. It wasn't his fault, he didn't deserve it but every time he wanted to help her she just felt so angry. He never pressed her, never made her feel broken, never caused her any additional pain and all she could do was yell at him. Some sister she was, huh? New tears threatened to fall but she refused to allow them. She jumped and flinched slightly as she snapped out of her own self loathing and her sad eyes met his own. It felt like the life had been taken out of them. It felt like a stab to her own heart. He carefully tucked some of her hair behind her ear and she mumbled a 'thank you'. She couldn't smile, couldn't meet his eyes, couldn't handle more of the dark feelings that kept swirling in her head. She momentarily took note of the fact that he said the caretaker was here, and he had said he loved her. Kasen felt the slight twitch of a smile, a very forced one, which ended up being more of a tight lipped grimace than anything. "Okay...love you." She was trying. She only wished that the feelings she normally felt would accompany it. She probably sounded like a monotoned zombie.

She heard the door open and close once more and she leaned back in the chair. Her abdomen was starting to ache more noticeably. She needed her pain medication and to change the bandages more than likely. The heat from the outdoors always caused her to sweat a little more and the blanket on her lap was necessary but definitely not doing her any favors. All in all, she just felt itchy and irritable. A few more minutes passed, she though she could hear some voices indoors but she didn't bother to try to make out what was being exchanged. For the third time the door opened and she found herself raising an eyebrow at the lack of the door shutting. Well then. She was startled quite a bit and yelped as the person addressed her. Kasen placed a hand over her heart to stop the racing. How dare she be startled like that! She was an injured woman! Kasen finally looked at the other person. She looked familiar. Ah that's it, the girl from the asylum. She didn't get to say much as the girl introduced herself and asked her why she was crying and assured her status as a competent caretaker. Well that was good at least. Kasen quickly scolded herself for how noticeable it appeared that she was not in good sorts. She hated feeling this vulnerable. She sighed. "Hi, I'm Kasen. We've met before...I can't exactly say it's under better circumstances." Kasen didn't want to make this introduction any more painful than it was already feeling. The other girl could not have felt comfortable. Maybe Kaen would be a good balance to her pathetic state. "Uh, I just need some more pain medicine, it's starting to hurt. And I need my bandages changed. This is probably a lot, I know I didn't specify what all I needed done. You can go ahead and throw me out a window for real if you'd like. I'm not sure what's better at this point to be honest." A strained quiet chuckled left her. I guess that was her attempt at humor. Her eyes shifted to the side. "Can you take me inside?" Even though she couldn't meet the other girls eyes, too proud to do so, she knew she did actually need the assistance and was getting way too hot out here.

Ayame stared for a moment at Kasen and burst into laughter from "You can go ahead and throw me out a window for real if you'd like".
- Well, we'll see if that is going to happen. - Ayame answered with a smile.

One thing was worrying the Uchiha... changing bandages. Bloody bandages. After acquiring this demon, Ayame had to drink blood in order to keep him satisfied and receive his help. But the thing was.... she started enjoying drinking blood and developed a hunger for blood. Shed had to do everything she could not to lose control, while changing the bandages.
- Yeah, let's go inside and I'll take care of everything - she grabbed the handles of the wheelchair and pushed Kasen - You know, I've been changing bandages my entire life, so I can do that, it's not big of a deal.
She pushed her inside the house and smelled coffee.
- I guess your... brother I suppose, made a coffee, but you shouldn't drink. Caffeine will make the healing process of the wound slower.
Ayame had to know this. In her past she was receiving serious injuries very often, so she took care of herself or the people around her, if asked to do so. Her methods were were learned the hard way, they were old, painful, but they worked, so she trusted them. Self-taught in some dirty caves was not the best thing, but there was no other way for her.

The girl went inside Kasen's room and searched the mess in the room for a pain medications.
- So... - she started talking, while searching - I plan on giving you the pain medication first, wait for it to take effect and then change the bandages, I hope it's okay with you. I think you'll be in a lot of pain if we don't use the medications first.
The girl found the pills, put them in her pocket and pushed Kasen to the kitchen, where the coffee awaited them. She filled glass of water and handed it to Kasen with one pill in her other hand.
- Here, drink it. I guess we'll have around 10 or 15 minutes before you can start to feel the effects. Would you like a glass of the coffee or should I make some tea for you?
Ayame was the kind of person that tried to do a job perfectly, no matter what the job was. She knew what was like to fix other people's mistakes that don't really cared about their jobs and sometimes this ended up with people being killed, at least in the area she worked back then.

Ayame would do what Kasen wanted and sit on the table, facing the redhead. Her face at that moment would show no emotions. She knew she was helping a person that fought a sandworm, so there was no way she'd look down on Kasen. But why the girl looked so sad? Ayame would feel so good and proud from a fight like that, and probably every other person would feel this way too. Was it because of the injuries? Not likely. These were battle injuries, something to be proud of and in a couple of months she'd be okay. Then... it was something else. Maybe something was going on between the siblings?
She looked around the room. They were living here, in this house, together. They had a home. They were family. They were lucky in so many ways, how could they be so blind?
She decided not to ask about this now.
- So... how does it feel to fight a powerful monster?
