Name: Fukui Arata
Age: 12
Physical Description: His most notable features would be his long dark blue hair, which he keeps in a neat ponytail, and the round glasses that cover practically half of his face. His lean build, height (4'9"), and weight (98 lbs.) are all painfully average. His complexion is naturally tanned. Eye color is currently unknown, unless someone finds a way to catch him without his glasses on. Common attire includes a dark bandana atop his head, matching colored t-shirt, a vest sporting a long hood, and somewhat baggy pants with several pockets.
Mental Description: More often than not, he's lost in his own thoughts. While he may be scolded for his apparent lack of attention in classes, he's proven to show being more than capable of following along despite the habit, often picking up on obscure visual cues that hints toward any important information he may have misheard. When he is paying attention, his attitude is very down-to-earth, practical, and what some may see as pessimism. He shows confidence while interacting with others, paying no mind to any that tease him for his encumbering eyewear. He doesn't mind being close to others, though he personally prefers keeping space between himself and others when he can; when combined with his average physical features, it becomes all too easy for him to simply blend into a crowd. It is his unknown origins that leaves him to wonder just what he should do with his life.
History: It is impossible to predict the ending of a book when the first few chapters have been torn out. Arata, much to his chagrin, faces this dilemma with his own life story. The first experience he can seem to remember is the sight of whirling sands and sound of howling winds, followed by the simple comfort of a small caravan on it's way to the underground settlement of Sunagakure. Anything beyond that is nothing more than speculation.
As unlikely as it seemed, it was put on official record that a commute working for a local mercantile station came across the sighting of a young toddler trapped alone in the open desert's perpetual storms. While it's unknown just how long he'd been out there without any assistance, he was miraculously healthy (albeit dehydrated), and without any trace of life around him. After being taken to the safety of the hidden village, he was placed amongst a facility of orphaned children, and given his name in light of his survival.
While the means by which he was raised were far from entitled or high-born, the orphanage would never dwell in squaller. Arata was always supplied with what he needed - food, water, shelter, and even decent medical care. He never had any issue getting along with the other children he'd lived with, though he preferred keeping to himself. As it was the village that kept those without families afloat, it was common for the orphaned children to enter in the academy to serve the village in return. To Arata, this method seemed only practical and fair, which led him to enter as well without much thought on the matter. While he's reluctantly settled on the fact that past may be forever a mystery, it is his future that remains a constantly revisited quandary.
