Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

The massive building known as the Omni Prime Medical Facility rose to tower high above her with every new step Misaki took. Even while walking on a roof herself, the facility far surpassed the heights she found herself on, and as she reached the end of the roof, the kitsune sat down on the edge, legs wiggling as her amber eyes took in the massive size of the whole building. Ever since the awakening of her bloodline, it felt like the pieces of the puzzle that formed her whole life were slowly falling down like the prediction sticks of the Onmyōji. Even if nothing made sense to outsiders, it was as if she could see the future in the way things were currently being thrown in front of her feet. Being a budding shinobi of the Sand was nothing more but the prelude, and though she didn't quite know what direction she wanted to grow in, she found herself increasingly ending up in front of this building, as if no matter which road she took, they all lead to the Omni Prime facility.

Truth to be told, Misaki had always been a helpful child, and that hadn't changed much even though her time was mostly absorbed these days with shinobi practice, Onmyōji training and picking up the chores of a priestess in training destined to walk into her mother's footsteps. As she wrapped her white tail around her waist, she couldn't deny that the idea of becoming a medical ninja appealed to her, but all together it seemed to clash with another seed nourished by darker desires - that of becoming a purifier of demonic taint. The noble goal of purifying her aunt had always played in her mind from the day she knew her aunt Azusa had been exiled from the clan, and after the whole ordeal with Maru of the Darkness, that thought had only grown in strength... Even as an awakened Tsuchimikado it almost felt like it was her 'destiny' to become a saint of sorts fighting against the ever encroaching demonic influence... But such a destiny would only lead to violence, and that was not quite what she was looking for. No, she honestly preferred to keep allies alive, refusing to deal with dead and violence as those hardly qualified as something beautiful and pure.

Quieting her mind yet feet still wiggling, Misaki's amber eyes overlooked the streets and the Omni Prime Medical Facility. Below, the people looked like giant ants running through the streets towards their next appointment, while faint wisps of white flickered on and off around the building. Spirits that were not quite 'born', yet not truly gone either as they remained nourished by the yang rich environment the facility offered in their attempt to mostly preserve the lives of those brought in with urgency. It was a good place... but not quite. A place of hope, but not too healthy. Misaki found it a confusing place despite its noble reputation.

It was such a lovely, when completely ignoring the drums of war off in the distance that were growing closer and closer by the day, time to be a live in Sunagakure no Sato. The village was now more above ground than below, so enjoying the day in deep thought upon the rooftops had a much more pleasant vibe to it. It was serene. It was pleasant. It was the exact opposite of the experience he was currently going through, but through sheer luck, or maybe misfortune, was also going to end up on the rooftops.

From the opposite side of Misaki's, whose eyes peered down below at the bustle of people, rooftop, there would be the sound of man-made thunder and a slight quake within the building that she sat upon. Accompanying this noice, if she happened to turn around quick enough, she would see a figure cloaked in a jet black cloud of smoke rocketing upwards into the sky. The projectile would not remain airborne for long and would quickly find itself arching over the ledge of the roof and into the dead center of the structure. The force of the impact would cause the material to buckle and dent inward as the visage of a man would quickly come into view.

For a moment, it would be reasonable to assume the soot covered, still slightly smoking, man was dead. This would not be the case, however, as his eyes would immediately snap open and he would raise himself to a prone seated position. Raising both arms up, his right hand would come in contact with his face while the left hand, down to the wrist, would suddenly pop off and drop to the ground. Even though one his hands and a portion of his arm would suddenly detach from the rest of his body, the man would not stop from following through with his actions as if he were using both hands to clear the dust and ash from his eyes.

"Well... he got me good... that son of bi...."

His teeth would grit as the chakra within his body would begin to bubble out around him, almost to the point it was visible. The feeling would come across like a growing pressure upon those around him, like gravity was intensifying, while in a complete defiance to that notion small amounts of debris would begin to rattle around before lightly lifting up off the rooftop and into the air. It would begin to circulate around his body as if a small vortex was being created by his mere existence.

That all would stop without warning and with such immediacy that it would seem like power switch had been flipped on him. The reason for this change, this instant change would be one simple thing; a young girl had caught his eye, either perched upon the rooftop or reacting to his presence. In any case, he realized that his bloodlust and anger would only endanger her, so he would immediately, without hesitation, shut down those emotions.

"Oh, hello... good... mor...after...definitely not night... day? My name is Roku!"

Being the every vigilant man he was, he would extend his left arm, the one whose hand was laying upon the ground, forward as if to either look for a handshake or attempt a wave. It would be hard to tell currently.

It was a strange sight to behold. Under the clap of loud thunder, a man was shot into the sky, arched over and crashed down in the centre of the building. Misaki tilted her head, looking curiously at the aftermath of the crash. The man stood up, mostly unscathed aside from lacking his hand?, and started to channel chakra through his aura. The pressure and the way the stones slowly seemed to lift from the ground seemed to hint at a kinetic or graviy style of chakra, but Misaki was a little too experienced to be sure of it. As she peered at the man from the rooftop, wondering what he was about to do, he stopped as soon as he began and the whole chakra expression dropped stone dead. Having noticed her, he clumsily greeted her as if he had lost all track of time, making her giggle at the silliness of it all. Jumping down the rooftop and seemingly bouncing upon the walls, she eventually landed in his vicinity with such grace it almost looked like she had floated down the last part.

"Hey, Roku-san", she waved at him. "Do you need a hand...?"

She couldn't say if he was waving or intended to shake hands, but in either cases it would be an awkward sight nonetheless, and as such she pointed casually at his arm with a hint of mischief in her eyes. Since Roku himself seemed to be rather unaware of the whole deal, she assumed it was a genjutsu of sorts or perhaps some bloodline power. A little playful trick he was using to lighten the mood despite the whole crash that had just occurred, which equally begged the question what exactly had caused him to skyrocket through the air. As such, her fox ears perked up and amber eyes fixated in the direction where he came from for a brief moment, just long enough for him to notice, in hopes it would drive him to explain what just happened. If not, she'd ask him if he was doing alright.

"I'm Aikayume Misaki, by the way, a newly enrolled student."

The youngster he had happened upon did not seem completely off put by the lack of arm, which only furthered the impression that ninja's live in some horrid hellscape. A man's hand falling off is the least suspicious thing you see in a day, well you are living in a nightmare.

He, however, did not realize his hand was missing. Not until her comment about needing a hand. That single question would set off some alarms within his mind as his eyes would peer over at his raised arm. Taking in the sight before him, he would notice that his hand was missing. Glancing down quickly, his lifeless prosthetic would appear. Letting out a grumbling sigh, he would reach down, snatch up the falsified appendage and bring it back to the numby end of his arm. There would be an initial pop and then following a slight twist there would be a series of clicking. The arm, clearly not a human-looking arm, would begin to light up as carvings upon the item would start to fill with chakra. Within mere moments the arm would go from looking like a foreign piece attached to the man to looking like his actual flesh and blood hand. Flexing his fingers he would turn his attention back to the young female.

"Turns out if a giant sandworm, the resurrected monster worm that they talk about in history books, bites your hand clean off... you go through an unfortunate life of prosthesis that break and the whole 'phantom limb' sensation... just... wait...."

Pulling himself up from the rooftop he would start to dust himself off.

"... so Aikayume Misaki. The name kinda sounds familiar... and a new student. Congrats! I've been meaning to go back to the academy and try and help out."

While he was talking to Misaki his eyes would start the conversation by looking at her, but the further he talked the more his eyes and attention would drift off and back to the direction he had been jettisoned up from earlier.

It's faint, but I can still feel their presence.

"Oh hey, how far into the academy are you?"

The question would seem harmless enough and would be followed up with a rather large smile. This was probably a good sign...

probably...

The man mumbled something about a giant sandword from the history books as if they were the 'bad wolf' in the fairy tales, confusing Misaki somewhat with what seemed to be a lack of belief in the reality of it all, and mentioned a prosthesis, and a 'phantom limb' and more of those odd things. The girl who already lived most of her life in a different world, one filled with sixth sense, spirits and future sight imagined he was talking about some sort of bakemono. The sort of bakemono like the giant foot that crashed inside a house at night and expected its owner to wash it completely, including nail clipping and more of such pedicure. It was the sort of yokai no one wanted to believe... until it happened. Though completely misunderstanding the man's mumbling of 'phantom limbs', he had her intrigued nonetheless as she really wanted to see a 'phantom limb' like that.

"Thank you. You might have heard of Aikayume Akiko, the current clan head of the Aikayume kitsune, or perhaps about Aikayume Azusa, who preceeded her as the Head of the clan. Their names are generally better known than mine."

Though he aimed to help out the academy, his eyes fixated there where Misaki wanted him to look - the place where he came from. He hadn't quite explained what it was about just yet, but she felt like his question was simply an indirect way towards a revelation of what had happened. It was a difficult question, though, as she didn't quite understand what he meant with 'how far' she was in the academy. She was there. Not quite a genin, but certainly not as helpless as she had been when she went to Tea country. That... was probably still not exactly a big deal as she remained a Student still, but she took pride in her growth nonetheless.

"Further than when I started, but not far enough to reach the end.", she replied to his question, wagging her tail with an equally bright smile that he had shown. "Why? Do you know a fun game?"

She still seemed a little too green, and her response to her progression in the academy also seemed to reinforce that. He would then think back to the names she had given previous. There was something about those names, or maybe one of the names in particular, that seemed to resonate with him. He had heard one of them, at least a part of them, before.

"Akiko... Asuza... a-holy crap you have a tail?"

I feel like I've seen a tail somewhere else before to... damn it.

His eyes would once more snap away from her as his expression would grow serious.

They are moving out a bit to far, might lose them if this keeps up.

"Why was I curious about your academy progression? A game... yea, something like that! What I am going to need from you at this point in time..."

The Sennin would appear to almost vanish from his standing position and in the same instance appear right before the kitsune in a crouched position with his back to her.

"Hop on my back, lock your arms around my neck and hold on tight. We are currently playing a game of tag and we are it... so we need to catch up to the other player."

Field experience, it'll be good for the kid...or kill her. Nah, it probably... shouldn't...won't... yea, she'll be good.

The man was surprised to see her with a tail. Of course, it was a common occurrence for the girl to see others with a tail and fox ears, so common even she tended to forget most other people in Sunagakure didn't have anything like that. So in response to his question, she swished her tail once more to make it apparent she had, indeed, one well-groomed white tail. Despite that, neither the names nor her tail seemed to help him recollect his memory on who the Aikayume were even if he had the looks of a man currently thinking deeply in search of answers.

Returning his attention once more into the distance, his face grew serious once again. She had understood that whatever was there was something completely different than some sort of failed experiment or combat practice or anything of that sort of 'dangerous yet safe' kind of thing, but it changed little to her curiosity. Luckily, the man before her was not of a mind to leave her out of the game, requesting she hopped onto his back and held tight, and so she did so. Arms wrapped around his neck, solidly holding fast to her own wrist and making sure she didn't choke him, she asked him with an almost overly sweet smile, "Do I need to tag with genjutsu or ninjutsu? I know a couple of E rank jutsu, so there's little harm done."

Without much hesitation, the female would hop on board of the Sennin-Express. It seemed that she was not fearful of the man, which was either an impressive feat, a sign of insanity or because he just did not come off as intimidating. If it was the latter choice, then that was perfect and sort of what he was going for with the young student. Once she latched on firmly, his right hand, the real hand, would reach up and firmly place itself upon one of the girl's arms to further ensure that she did not lose grip.

He would rise up, not his full height of over six foot. Instead, he would be in a semi-crouched runner position.

"Gen... nin, oh? Got some skills do ya?"

His eyes would begin to scan around as his further utilized the ANBU Skill Chakra Sense to keep his target within his grasp.

"Sounds like you are already a better student than I was... I kind of was dumb in a shinobi sense."

A smirk would stretch across his face, not that the young girl could see it, as it would appear he had the appropriate direction lined up. Suddenly a rush of chakra would surge throughout his body as his leg muscles would swell up. The veins would bulge while the muscles themselves would expand and quickly retract slightly, providing a sharper amount of definition. The rest of his body would seemingly mimic this process, but due to wearing clothes Misaki, aside from hearing the odd popping noises, may have been unaware of this change until his arms would experience the same alteration. It was like the entirety of his body was flexing.

"I only truly excelled at one thing in my younger years."

He would take a step forward as his feet seemed to dig into the roofing, leaving imprints in the wake of each step. The chakra that had been swirling inside of him would once more begin to leak out and cloak his entire form. This time the pressure would not be felt, instead it would feel more like a firm embrace was coating both the Sennin and the student.

"I was a bit of a muscle-head. Now... hold on..."

Within the same utterance of that warning, his body would rare back and swiftly fire forward. The sheer force of cause a small sonic boom to explode from the area the duo once stood and further exacerbate the damage to the roof. Meanwhile, the girl might have felt a flying sensation, as he always did in this situation, as they seemed to glide across the air from the force of his initial jump. As the descended down to lower rooftops, he would take a couple of steps or in some cases immediately push off and the two of them would once more go soaring into the air. This gentle gliding approach would not last long, as it seemed they were narrowing in on their target. The closer the got, he would switch to actually landing on the ground.

There would be a thunderous thud as they made touchdown with the surface, but they would not linger for long as he would once more push off. This time instead of pushing upwards towards the sky he would be pushing forward. Now the two of them were racing across the streets of the village, a blinding blur to the normal civilians and to the bulk of the lower experienced shinobi. And then, without any warning, the two of them would come to a sudden and abrupt halt. His hand would detach from the females arm as he would lower down once more.

"Player two is inside there..."

Before them would be a rather decrepit looking three story building. The building looked like it might have once been an old apartment-style complex. It did not seem like people still lived within the structure, or at least you had hoped no one did.

"So, little Miss Academy Student. If we were wanting to tag someone hiding in a building like this... what would you suggest doing?"

The Roku-sennin prepared himself for whatever as he revealed he hadn't been such a good student in his early years. Even now, the man seemed to be more muscle than jutsu, which was a complete opposite of the ideas the young shinobi had in mind for her own future. Genjutsu, ninjutsu, medical... she had all inclination to avoid most physical combat and aim for long range and mind games. Most likely, knowing the Aikayume, that was not so much a surprise as the kitsune were rather elusive in almost everything they did.

The strange chakra appeared again. This time not as a pressure but more like an embracing cloak, or a lighter form of pressure? Then, the man jumped up and away through the skies, wind rushing as it passed them. Misaki narrowed her eyes and dropped her ears flat against the friction she experienced, but loved the sensation of freedom that came with it. At this point she was almost certain the chakra had to be related to gravity manipulation, as there would be little other techniques which would allow this sort of flight, right? She had little time to think it through as feet already landed on the ground, the sudden change in pressure making her gasp for air for a moment while she was dropped of Roku-sennin's back.

"This was a fun flight. How did you do that? Is it something I could learn too?", she asked him once she stood back on her own feet, amber eyes taking in the three story building before them. From the looks of it, it was abandoned and ready to crumble at any time. Player two, whowever that was, was inside playing hide and seek... with his health. Why he would crawl into a building which screamed disaster from miles away was beyond the kitsune, but such were the rules of this little game and she'd have to deal with them. When Roku-sennin asked her how they would tag 'player two', she put her index to her lips, thinking for a moment on how to get this done. The rough way was to make the whole building crumble, which would probably have the person escape the danger... but that approach was too direct to her tastes. Creating a couple of clones would make the search easier, but she didn't have those at her disposal. There was this fairytale about a wolf and three pigs, and some huffin' and puffin'...

"Clones could help find him if we split up, or maybe I could see if there is a spirit willing to lead the way to player two... and if that doesn't work, we huff and puff and blow him out of his hiding place?"

Not that she had any 'huff and puff' jutsu despite the couple of wind jutsu she knew. Her jutsu simply cut down whatever was on her path, which was not quite the technique she had hoped to learn despite its own usefulness in battle. Could the man with the detachable hand huff and puff, though?

"Does that sound like a good idea?"

His head tilted to the side as he continued to eyeball the building. While that was clearly taking his attention at the moment, he would make sure to remain engaged with the little fox child.

"Teach you? Just takes a lot of training and building up your physical body... once you advance in your shinobi career you will eventually get to a point you could probably do something similar. I would bet it would be more graceful than what I just did; jump and run."

And essentially that is all he did; run and jump. Of course, especially internally, there was more to it than that, but ultimately it was just those two basic skills coupled with a body that had been refined for over two decades and some support from chakra. What he would not be able to admit, to her and frankly to himself, was the toll such a simple thing took on him. In the past, this would have been no sweat. Now, however, it was completely sweaty. Literally, his face seemed to be rolling with droplets of perspiration.

"Talk to spirits!??! Um, you are damn right that is the process I want to try first."

Who the hell was this cool ass kid?

He definitely wanted to do the cooler sounding approach before ultimately going with her final suggestion, which was original thought as well. If nothing else, it would give him a moment to catch back up his stamina.

"So do I need to hum or something? Blood? Pray?"

The shinobi suggested to go with the spirit talking, asking her how they would go about that, but... she wasn't sure. To her, it had become a natural thing to see spirits around spiritually well-balanced environments such as the temple, where the spirits lived in abundance, but at a place such as this she wasn't quite sure if it would be as easy. If she knew the Yin Yang Seal like the elder priestesses could it would be quite a breeze to pull this off, but she was just a budding onmyouji. Realising eventually that she might not be able to pull her initial idea, she chuckled nervously.

"I ah... I'm not really sure. At the temple, the spirits are always there, but I have some incense, so maybe it could work if we prayed and asked them for help."

She took out a couple of small incense sticks, inhaled and molded her chakra in her lungs before softly breathing out and allowing the fire chakra to lit the sticks. As the sticks started to burn and the sandalwood scent pervaded the area, the kitsune started to slowly recite a simple mantra she had heard countless of times back at the temple. Technically, it was but a meditative mantra meant to find inner peace, said to help people get in touch with their spiritual nature. If that would allow others to see spirits was something entirely different still, but the kitsune just had to try something, didn't she?

"Om shanti... shanti... shanti..."

OOC: very gentle version of E rank ninjutsu - Thermal Maw to light the sticks.

It wasn't every day that he ran into a child, said child had a tail and pointed ears and said child also mentioned that she talked to ghosts, but it seemed that today was not like every other day. So while she prepped herself, he would position himself into a sitting position, legs crossed, and would watch the little one intensely. Of course he was curious about what it was she was going to do, he was naturally all about information gathering due to his side job, but he also really enjoyed learning new things in the shinobi arts. More often than not, it was an attempt for him to see if he could emulate the art.

"A temple aye? So there are more of you foxy people, just communicating with ghosts and what not?"

Well that was interesting thought indeed. Maybe he was going to need to refocus his efforts to looking into the larger families within the village instead of his ongoing efforts to learn as much about the Daimyo and Merchant Lords.

Damn, foxy people... why the hell does that sound so familiar... oh, she is making noises.

He would watch, like a child seeing something unknown for the first time, while the young kitsune put forth effort to her trained craft. He was very eager to see how this all played out.

Oh yea, and probably catching the person hiding in the building... sometime.

"Om shanti... shanti... shanti..."

She repeated the phrase slowly again and again as the incense burned. A mantra for peace, in hopes to call upon an inkling of a spirit that could lead the way. She wasn't sure how much time would pass, and neither did the mantra have the same effect on her own as when all of the onmyouji together chanted it, but after a while she opened her eyes in hopes to spot one. Wisps of light danced around her, but no spirit seemingly big or intelligent enough to help out. A little stumped, Misaki's ears drooped in disappointment as she turned to look at Roku again.

"I'm sorry, Roku-san. my prayer didn't help out much..."

Well... She was but a budding onmyouji, main branch or not. Perhaps she simply held not enough weight with the spirit, or her spiritual power was not up to par yet to deal with the world beyond sight. She certainly prayed to Inari a lot, so it couldn't be that the great Fox Spirit was mad her, but it looked like all she could do was hope that 'player two' was not gone just yet. She'd hate it if due to her inability the game they were playing would be ruined.

"I guess you'll have to huff and puff and blow his cover away. Do you know where he's hiding?"

His anticipation was almost tangible, like a small child prepping to open gifts. He wanted to badly to see an ability that could bring forth ghosts and spirits. Who wouldn't want to see that feat? Unfortunately, he would not get the opportunity this time around.

"No worries, all I ask is that when you get that ability honed up a little more you give me a proper presentation... I mean, just knowing you can communicate with ghosts makes you undoubtly my favorite Academy Student!"

A big goofy grin would accompany those around as his hands would begin to snap together, forming a series of seals. Above the two, even more so above the building before them, a tear would appear within the sky. The torn reality would spread a part, exposing a void filled with thousands of stars.

"Player two is still in there, I have a skill that allows me to track people but I can't use it to precisely pinpoint them. I do, however, have something that might cause him to move around a bit for us, making it easier to find him.

From the distortion, several of the shining stars in the distant would begin to grow closer and closer. In no time, several falling comets would exit the rip in the sky and enter their current reality. The burning chunks of matter would tear into and through the house before them, as if a military led mortar fire was being executed upon the make shift base. This would be one of the more advanced jutsu in his arsenal: Stardust Nova. The ten shooting stars would completely rock the building, deteriorating the foundation and leaving large chunks of the innards of the structure exposed. It would be rather easier to spot Player 2 now. There was also the chance the building, not giving off a series of groans and moans, would simply collapse and trap Player 2. Either way, something was bound to happen.

"Sometimes it is easier to make the one you are hunting come to you... so, little Misaki, what is it you are hoping to be as a shinobi? Medic? ANBU? Specialized in something like Ninjutsu? Will the spirit communing be your thing? Tell me about your future aspirations."

Seemed like an odd junction to turn into a question and answer moment, but sometimes he strayed very far from the conventional.

She certainly could see spirits, communicate with them to some degree but to call upon them had proven to be out of her league just yet. Feeling sad to disappoint, she was pleasantly surprised at Roku's compliment of her already being his favourite student and faintly wagged her tail in response as she giggled with pink cheeks. She then nodded at his request to give him a proper presentation of her abilities once she had reached the point of summoning them. In the meantime, Roku had her covered on terms of tracking since he had a skill of sorts that allowed him to do so. It was just a matter of nudging him to reveal himself. Though Misaki had expected him to really blow the person out of the building, her eyes grew big as saucers when he created tears in the sky, revealing thousands of stars, which then came crashing down to destroy most of the building until it was about ready to collapse on its own.

Misaki could only stare, face slightly paling, at what she was witnessing, upon which Roku then asked her a question about her intended future. She blinked a few times, looking at him, then back at the building, and once more at him as her mind tried to figure out what would be of a greater priority at this point - answering, or remaining appalled by the power with which he so much as blew up the building? After another brief moment of settling her mind, she tried to focus on the shower of questions to give him a proper answer, eyes still fixated on what just happened.

"Ah.. uhm... I'll become a great onmyouji, able to purify demonic corruption. So I think ninjutsu and genjutsu will be great to have. Of course, I'll work hard to get better with spirits, though I'm not entirely sure yet how they can help me with shinobi practice. I'd also want to be able to heal and preserve other shinobi, easing their pain and reducing their suffering, so I'll probably try to become a Medic. Maybe. Because, well, being sneaky also sounds like a fun thing to do. That's what ANBU do, right? Being sneaky?"

That, and hunting bandits or something. She wasn't as keen on the hunting part, but the sneaky side seemed like a great skill to pull pranks with. The question answered, Misaki once more oriented herself to the cataclysmic event in front of her, trying to spot anything that could possibly look like a 'player two'.

Episode 1: Fancy Meeting You Here...Whoever You Are | Sennin Side Story said:
He would listen to the young one explain her own dreams or goals for the future intently. It had been a long time since he was able to sit down with such a young aspiring shinobi, and there apparently seemed to be a deep seeded need for preserving the future of Suna that had recently started to resonate within him. He had attempted to take on pupils in the past but all of those youngsters seemed to skip out on him without any warning. So while he was fascinated by the young one, he also knew there was no reason in getting too attached. Hell, with how his life was going so far he would be dead within the year.

Keep up that positivity...

"Misaki, Suna's Greatest Onmyouji... hmmm, well no, I think there is probably a cooler way of putting that. Damn, I'm must be getting old that I keep even think of cool nicknames. Listen, this world, hell this country, is full of dark creatures."

The mood would suddenly shift as an aura of seriousness seemed to encase the two of them in their conversation.

"There are people in this village itself that are corrupted; demons, other man-made evils or creatures that believe they stand above humanity. If your goal is to pursue purifying this country of such evils, even if it is simply focused on the demonic side of all that, I will do whatever I can within my power to ensure that you see your goal reached."

The moment of raw and real emotion would settle for a moment before ultimately vanishing just as quickly as it came. A smile would return to his face.

"A medic? Damn, fine choice! And you are essentially right with ANBU. Being sneaky should be a priority for them. Some people mistake them as the police of the village, but honestly they are more like the spies and assassins of the village. I think your ability to commune and your wish to work with spirits are something that either one of those jobs could make use of, honestly. How that ultimately would look would be a mixture of what you think you could accomplish and what a higher up believes your gifts could accomplish. So either choice you make will work, so I think the harder question to ask yourself is this; would you rather save a life or take a life?"

The last question would not carry the same seriousness as his previous moment with Misaki but would carry more weight than the words that immediately proceeded the question.

"As a shinobi you are ultimately, 9 times out of 10, be placed in a position where you take a life or save a life. The difference between the regular line of shinobi work and those two distinct roles is the way in which you reach the point of "saving a life or taking a life". You are still young, however, you've got plenty of time to learn more about these roles and which one would best suit you."

This would be the point where he would place his hand on the young shinobi's head and ruffle their hair, unfortunately this was his first time with a young female shinobi, a realization that was just now sinking in.

Holy shit... do they appreciate the same thing young guys do when it comes to signs of admiration? Is ruffling a female's hair a cardinal sin? Do I even want to touch them... what if someone looks over and is like ' that creepy old dude is creepin' on the girl with a tail'... OH NO, I CARRIED HER HERE!?

Without saying a word, it would seem that the complexion of the man would be growing pale right before Misaki's eyes.

OOC - Incredibly sorry about allowing this to fall off my radar as far as it did. Want to make another post and then I will wrap this up?

Roku's sudden serious tone was a little scary. So straight-forward, she almost forgot about the game of catching player two. But he did encourage her to go on with her goals. If she could make something out of her goals like he did, it would be an asset. He took care of baddies, she took care of corruption. Suna would be all the better for it. Her eyes were open wide, nodding at his serious tone. She would do her part, once she got stronger.

The serious tone disappeared as quickly as it came. He seemed happy with her selection. Both medic or ANBU sounded good to him though he did correct her on the ANBU side. It wasn't just being sneaky. it was more spying and assassinating. The spying side was okay, but assassinating... That seemed a little too harsh an action in the ears of the kitsune. She couldn't heal them like this, or purify them. Once something was dead, it was just over with. Done. No reversing what happened. Misaki wasn't scared of the dead. Priestesses did nothing but deal with the dead. Corpses, spirits, undead, demon. All about the same thing. But taking a life...? She wasn't so sure about that just yet, so perhaps being a medic was the better option for now. She could still pick up a stealth technique or two somewhere else.

He would then rest his hand on her head, patting her. Misaki's ears lowered, raised her shoulders somewhat and giggled, but when he finished he suddenly seemed pallid. Blinking in confusion, she asked him.

"W-what's wrong?"
