It was like clockwork. Just as the sun would always rise and you could be certain that it would always set, one could be certain that they could find Kichiru in the Undersea at the end of the week. With his week of classes at the Academy over he would spend the majority of his day either socializing with his friends, training for his upcoming exam, or relaxing at his favorite spot in the Undersea. It was honestly quite a beautiful location; no other place like this one likely existed for miles in all directions. Somehow the people of Sunagakure had managed to create an entire ecosystem of fish that populated the waters of the Undersea. Fishing here had always been something he loved doing ever since his father took him along when he was a child. However, his father stopped doing that after the passing of Kasumi and so instead Kichiru would go alone every week. Oddly enough, the young student never seemed to be upset or lonely whilst he was there. Instead, he appeared to be absolutely happy whenever he was by the beautiful crystalline figure his father had shown him. This crystal in particular jutted out of the ground right by the shoreline and had a flat enough top that one could sit atop it.
Alright.. Everything looks perfect. He thought as he planted himself atop the crystal, observing the status of the water around him. Nobody was in sight and thus the fish were at their most relaxed; the absolutely perfect time for fishing. From his back he removed his fishing rod, which wasn't particularly special or expensive, but it was durable. He then fed his line through the fishing pole as he always did each week to assure that it would be at its strongest and without wear. This process would take a few minutes as he carefully fed the string up the length of the rod and then tied it off at the appropriate spots in order to make sure it would properly hold and be able to be reeled out and back in while staying attached to the metallic hook at the end. The final touch would be attaching his favorite red bobber that he and his father had picked out specially for the first time they had gone down to the Undersea. With everything in place, he would pull the sharp tip of the hook through a piece of fruit he had purchased on his way through the bazaar.
Pull back... He could imagine his father showing him the technique for the very first time as he mimicked the proper motions. He held tightly onto the rod, standing up in order to transfer the most momentum into the rod itself and thus send the hook out farther. Raising his arms back behind him, he held the rod steady as he stared into the crystalline depths in front of him. And release! With that he sent all of his strength into the cast, sending the line out as far as the young boy's strength could have possibly carried it. With a grin Kichiru sat back down on the crystal as he stared intently towards the bobber as it floated above the surface of the water.
And now.. We wait...
