Having found out Shigenaga was being put into a foster family seemed to be the way things would just work out, talk of detectives hearing him ask them what one had to do be a police officer got mixed responses. Mostly good though. But as he walked in and someone jammed a folder into his hand and explained, ‘he was with them’ Kamaru looked around looking for an explaination from someone as to what was going on.
Taira Ninsei was a man of few words. From what people explained to him the man had retired from instructing ten years ago after retiring from active duty as a shinobi for twenty five plus years. Apart from other people tell him how long he had served in Stone they found out he wasn’t much for making a mountain out of a molehill. When the man came back in and let out a loud shrill whistle and motioned for Kamaru to follow he was advised if Taira-Sensi actually came in to request someone look at things it was actually serious. Kamaru found himself the one tasked to humor the old man.
Getting out to the Great Lakes didn’t take that much time and for an older gentleman he seemed to still be able to move when he wanted to. Moving to one point he motioned out and explained that there weren’t any fish in the area, plus there was no signs or sound of wild life. Kamaru didn’t think it was that odd except for there being no sign or sound of anything in the area when it came to wild life from animal to insect all were gone.
When the man kicked at some driftwood and the two noticed a piece of boat wood with teeth marks plus a severed hand Kamaru figured the man wasn’t just blowing smoke. The man seemed to read his mind since as soon as they both saw the hand he simply just said ‘Tolld ya, come on.’ in a gruff tone.
If they were going to investigate was was killing people Kamaru wondered why they were going out on the Lakes.
As the Taira recast his line he seemed to get increasingly aggirated by the other fisherman in the area. When he said he couldn’t take it any more Kamaru watched as he reeling in his line. Kamaru was about to ask if they were moving when he noticed the man put several weights on the line before casting his line out smashing it into the other man’s lure. Kamaru wanted to ask what was going on but ducked under the flurrying array of castings the two ended up doing trying to smash the others line.
As a bit the two seemed worn out.
”Pretty good there old man.” the stranger yelled out.
”Well I gotta do something if the fish ain’t biting.” he countered back.
The two laughed for a bit before the old man motioned and the two got the boat moving.
”Why the sudden case of the crotchities Taira?” Kamaru asked once out of the immediate area from the stranger.
”No honorifics boy?” Taira shot back raising an eyebrow.
”Do you need them?” Kamaru shot back.
The man shrugged as they glided farther away ”That guy’s rode was brand new, if he was actually fishing my weighted lure should have done something to his line. He not out here fishing. I think he’s looking for whatever is out here causing trouble.”
”He could be a shinobi on assignment…” Kamaru offered.
”Do you know him?” Taira asked him.
”I can’t know everyone in the village can I?” Kamaru asked back defensively.
”You would if you were any good.” the man shot back.
”What if he’s on assignment and suppose to stay low key?” Kamaru asked.
”Then he wouldn’t be out on the Lakes with a brand new pole not fishing in an area with no fish. If he’s official he could have just said he’s on official business and we needed to leave for our own safety.” the man shot back again.
Kamaru thought about the man’s words, the guy did seem to slowly get pegged as being shady.
”You mind leaning to your right I need to see something behind you.” Kamaru asked suddenly getting the man to oblidge, he didn’t expect to see Kamaru let loose several jutsu a few inches from his head though.
”What the hell is wrong with you.” the man started to roar to which he got Kamaru pushing him down and crawling over him.
As explosions in the water were heard the older man looked back to see what Kamaru’s techniques had attracted. The nonfisherman from before was chasing a rather large fish about the size of the boat Kamaru and Taira were in. Neither seemed to be stopping but had slowed a bit.
”We need to get going now, plus I think I found out the mystery plus why the guy is here.” Kamaru explained.
”Works for me, hope you got your water legs boy.” the man said rolling up his sleeves and performing handseals before the boat suddenly launched into the air as he stuck his hand into the water. With the two of them to the rear the front easily stayed out of the water when they landed a channel of water shooting back into the air as their wake created small waves. The pursuers slowly closing in.
Kamaru looked behind them as the watery beast and other boat got closer. As he shifted suddenly to the middle of the boat and stood the boat jerked almost sending the Taira flying.
”You wanna come down there Ju-” he began as several flashes of steel flew by his face.
”Stay down, keep up steady and evade as much as you can.” Kamaru explained several kunai in his hand.
A pillar of watter erupted to the side of the boat causing the man to just comply for now.
Kamaru flipped around looking ahead and roared for the man to keep it straight. Forming several series of handseals Kamaru breathed out as they passed and area, his eyes focused on it. Being on the run he hadn’t paid that much attention to the beast. Kamaru expected to see a large fish. He wasn’t really sure what he saw, it had fins and scales and looked somewhat like fish, but between the odd coloration, asymmetric disfigurements, and odd things hanging off it Kamaru really wans’t sure what it was really. But it was air born with the boat right behind it. Mid air the beast stopped midair flying backwards suddenly. Kamaru and Taira winced from the sickening sound of wood and bone shattering in the collision to the beast and boat mid air.
As Taira got the boat arced back to the now floating crash Kamaru shook his head ”I think he ate most of the fish, but at least whatever is left will be biting soon.” he commented. The man tossed Kamaru a rope to tie off the wreckage and bodies. ”Yep, I’m done, but your’re not.” he simply stated with a nod.
