Name: Hazumi Karai
Age: 9
Gender: Female
Physical Description: Karai stands at 46 inches while weighing 49 pounds. Due to malnourishment the past few years, her growth had been stunted quite a bit. This left her entire frame to be comparably smaller than that of her peers. Karai has long sun-touched blonde hair, reaching down roughly an inch or two past her shoulders. Her hair is loosely curled. Some parts even straight, such as the ends past her shoulders. Karai’s bangs often shift to one side, covering her right eye despite Karai’s vehement attempts to keep it out of her field of vision. Her eyes are a very faded shade of hazel, almost grey. They are narrow in shape and fit well with her button nose and slender facial features. Karai has thin lips that are only one shade closer to red than her fair skin. Her wardrobe consists of multiples of the same outfit; The Cloud’s standard battle vest with a loose black long-sleeved undershirt that has slits in the shoulders, paired with white fingerless arm wraps that extend up to her deltoids and finally a pair of white boots that mold to her frame almost perfectly.
Mental Description: Karai’s personality could be described as bubbly and upbeat. However she has some sociopathic features, such as the intention to manipulate each and everyone she meets in some form or another to benefit herself. Though not intentional so much as it is a reflexive nature. Despite this, Karai strives to be friendly and welcoming to those close to her, and those she does not know. She has a fair amount of self-confidence, and tends to flaunt it unknowingly. Karai is quick-witted. She seemingly always has a snappy comeback to rude comments directed towards her, namely her brother. Aside from training and the occasional spar with her sibling, she is unrelenting in combat. Her stubborn attitude refuses to allow her to end altercation until she or her opponent can no longer stand. While Karai is willing to make friends, she is very selective about the people she keeps close.
History: Hazumi, a name given to Karai and her brother Kiroku by the caretakers of their orphanage. The pair was left there upon Karai’s birth, her brother being two years her senior. The only information left with them was their given names, birthdays, and relation to each other. Growing up in the orphanage of a small village with little income wasn’t easy, though the establishment managed to get by through means of having the orphans do small jobs around the area. Picking crops and herbs, animal-sitting, tilling, cleaning houses, hunting, anything that could earn them money for their ‘family’ was commonplace. Despite the hardships, all of the orphans had developed close bonds with each other and their caretakers. The surrogate family that Karai had become a part of led a happy life for six years. The happy family had only lasted that long before an incredibly violent typhoon tore away from the coast and ripped through the small town. Within hours, the casualties skyrocketed to nearly the entire village. After emerging from the rubble and finding that their happy family was no more, along with the majority of everything else in a two mile radius, Karai and Kiroku set out on an adventure with no destination other than a place to call home. Two years had passed, and Karai along with her brother had refined the skills they learned in the orphanage. Karai was adept with herbs and medicinal brews, while Kiroku had become a fine hunter. One day, Karai had left their small encampment to hunt for ingredients to a tonic for her sick brother. Having been gone for several hours, Karai had mixed the necessary ingredients into a liquid. She was nearly at the campsite when a commotion was heard coming from that same direction. Quickly she had secured the vial in her salvaged robes and rushed to Kiroku. By this time, he was backed into a tree facing an overgrown boar. Just then, the boar began to charge at the older sibling. Without thinking, Karai rushed in and shielded him with her body. She could hear the beast charging only for a brief few moments only to hear a sudden halt followed by a thud. Tears in her eyes, Karai turned to face the direction of the boar to find a large bone sharpened into a makeshift spear pierced through the neck of the boar and a young boy looming over the defeated mammal. This boy came to be known as Dokuro Shiki, who offered to guide them to his destination. Upon agreeing, Karai made it to her feet, withdrawing the vial of medicine from her robes and biting her thumb, causing it to bleed. She pressed the wound to the opening of the vial and let the crimson liquid drip into the mixture. After doing so, Karai stirred the liquid using a nearby twig and handed it off to Kiroku. After doing so, Karai turned back to Dokuro and stated she was ready to begin advancing toward their destination; Kumogakure.
