Physical Description: Shukuya is a young man with dark skin, white hair, and amethyst-colored eyes. Most would consider him handsome, and his exotic features only add to his appeal. The former Priest usually wears a long-sleeved black shirt and a matching pair of traditional shinobi pants. His weapon, an ornate silver broadsword, is usually strapped to his back.
Personality Description: Charming and energetic, Shukuya has an endearing personality that has earned him many friends over the years. He is extremely compassionate, and is always willing to help those in need whether it’s a friend or a total stranger. He firmly believes that the strong should protect the weak, and this belief inspired his devotion to his patron Eiki, the God of Warriors.
Character History: Kangetsu Shukuya was born 21 years ago in Kirigakure No Sato to the Kangetsu clan, a small but old shinobi family that was well respected. His father Kangetsu Eiga was a retired Jounin and the leader of the clan, while his mother Hoshiakari Haru served as an instructor at the Shinobi Academy. Shukuya, like many children of shinobi clans, spent much of his childhood training in the ninja arts. He proved to be exceptionally talented even as a boy, and his family pushed for him to enter the Academy early on. However, the plans of his clan and his own dreams for the future soon came to an end. Disaster struck Kirigakure, and the village was swallowed up by the ice and cold of a perpetual winter, rendering it uninhabitable. Faced with the destruction of their home, Shukuya and his family fled the dying village and sought sanctuary abroad. The Kangetsu settled in Tsuki no Kuni, but the clan had lost what little they had during the exodus, leaving their status within the new village uncertain. In order to cement the family’s place within Tsukigakure, Eiga struck a bargain with the Shrine, and sold most of the clan into its service, including Shukuya.
Shukuya was assigned as an acolyte to the Priests of the Shrine, and he was placed under the care of one of the order’s elders, a man named Genzen. Genzen taught Shukuya of the Gods and the traditions of the Shrine, and trained him as an Exalted to combat the demons that so often threatened the people of Tsuki No Kuni. The boy did well under his guidance, and he became a powerful warrior in time, proving to to be a skilled swordsman with a surprising affinity for the holy techniques of the the order. Shukuya devoted himself to the Gods, and he swore himself to Eiki, the God of Warriors in particular upon his ordination as a Priest at the age of 16. He served the Shrine well during his time in the order, slaying many demons and dark spirits that threatened the island. However, after discovering the illicit nature of the Shrine’s dealings in Tsuki No Kuni, he became disenchanted with the organization. Shukuya spoke out against the corruption and pushed the Priests to advocate for reform, but his attempts were repeatedly rebuffed and he was met with increasing hostility. Seeing little recourse, Shukuya abandoned the Shrine and left Tsuki No Kuni shortly after his 21st birthday.
The former Priest spent the following months on the road, slaying any demon he came across and helping those in need.
