Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Chi sat on top of the roof of a neighboring building, staring at the village gates. Next to her Naku was curled up and sleeping soundly. Chi gently stroked his fur as she thought back to her first encounter with this wall. She hadn’t come in through conventional means, instead, she was brought in through the wall itself. She had never undergone the standard processes performed at the gates, and it interested her to see all the people and their silly papers. Hosekimori didn’t have a gate and it was probably because of that fact that it was so easily felled. The hand that wasn’t petting Naku curled into a fist against the grainy rooftop. She felt the sand scratch her skin. It reminded her of the lashings she received when she did something wrong at the nobleman’s mansion. She had journeyed far since watching her parents getting murdered right before her eyes.

The sun was beginning to rise over the village walls and Chi suddenly realized that she had been there all night. She looked down at her brother and companion. This was the last family member the princess had left. He wasn’t good at fighting and he always got her into dire trouble and he continued to be quite loud and… but she genuinely loved him and wouldn’t change his existence for the world. Still, Chikara wondered how much longer they could keep this up. Everyone she’s ever loved has been taken away from her, or she was taken away from them. It wasn’t uncommon for stories she’s heard of shinobi to be similar. There’s always a tragedy, but happy endings were oh so rarer. Virtually every story she’s heard as ended in the death of the hero, or their victory at the cost of the things they hold dear. Stories of real-life weren’t like in the books, not everyone finds love and settles down once they’ve taken out their big bad.

“And why not?” Chi spoke aloud, using a tongue that most anyone living in the village wouldn’t understand. With her staff gone, that language was the only thing she had left of her people. The savage often spoke in this manner when she was upset, as she happened to be in that emotional moment. She smashed a hand against the rooftop then it cracked and her hand was cut. Chi cursed in her language and spun around so she could stand up. Naku stirred, wondering dully why he no longer felt the hand of his sister running over his fur. A sleepy bleating escaped his lips and then he returned to sleep. Chi tore off a strip of her dress and bound her hand with the cloth. There wasn’t much blood, at least in comparison to what she had seen from battle. However, it was enough to trickle down and leave a small puddle at her feet. She thought, “It’s time to wake up from this terrible nightmare and finish him.”

This great village was a far cry from the streets and life Jidai was used to. People smiled. People conversed. Laughs filled the air, and bodies were blissfully unconcerned about their surroundings. It was peaceful. It was warm. And that wasn't because of the sun. There was a genuine sense of bliss and belonging. Most of these people didn't know struggle or pain. They weren't currently living in the Ruins of Old Suna. They were sheltered by the great walls and gate of their village. And even if their village had just recently been in danger of being overcome by the swarm not so long ago, they were either ignorantly optimistic in their chances of overcoming this threat or they were truly strong enough to be confident in dispelling whatever worries came to mind. It made Jidai uncomfortable.

All his life, there was always something to be worried about. When he was just a kid, he and his fellow comrades had to do exactly what they were told exactly when they were told, or they would not be fed for an indefinite amount of time. At least that was the option they always hoped would befall them if they made any mistakes. For his teenage life, there wasn't much of a difference. Steal. Pickpocket. Eliminate threats and secure whatever bags you can whenever they’re available. Never let an opportunity pass by, and never trust who you work with. Those same people will happily work against you tomorrow. Trust no man in the Black Bazaar. Trust no woman in the Red Lights District. These were the rules of the streets in the Ruins of Old. That was Jidai's home. So it made sense why Jidai felt some discomfort.

But that could also be due to the fact that a 9'5 2000 pound man was wearing a hoodie and sweats during the prime-time hours of the desert sun. The people in front of him were lucky; they had more than an abundance of shade to keep them cool. Jidai wasn't so lucky. If there was anything the muscular behemoth of a man had to get used to, it was this heat. Soon, the hoodie would have to go, and if the hoodie went away, more eyes would be on him. It wouldn't be anything new. When built like Jidai, it'd be weirder if people weren't staring. But that didn't mean the tank preferred to be the center of attention. It was just something he had to deal with. Like the sweat consuming his face, and the stains darkening the bulk of his back and crevices of his underarms. It was a miracle he didn't stink.

At least his feet weren't burning up. But then again, the huge slabs of rock he called his feet were fully exposed and on display in crappy flip flops. So it was a give and take. Yea, they're not as hot, but now people look in shock at feet that are much bigger than their heads. Again...it was just a reality of life. So Jidai continued to walk around and tour the village he hoped would soon be his place of work.

With a deep sigh through his nostrils, the brown haired man could only shake his head and think, What a life.

Wonder what today has in store for the muscular juggernaut casually walking the streets.

Chikara stopped looking at her blood dropping to her feet. She had lost control of her strength for a moment and paid the consequence. She tightened the makeshift wrap around her hand and placed her other hand over it. Green chakra emanated from her palm and healed her wound. She sighed and walked back over to her brother who was still sound asleep on the edge. She picked him up but not without confrontation from the sleepy goat. He bleated at her and wiggled his legs but was overjoyed to realize it was his sister who grabbing him in his sleep.

“Bah!” He bleated cheerfully.

“Baahh.” Chi replied in kind. She leaped off the side of the building and landed gracefully on the ground. Naku was distraught to learn he would have to walk from that point on. He sulked for a moment as Chi walked away, then when he didn’t receive the attention he wanted he quit begging and followed his sister. Chi had discovered all of his tricks and wouldn’t be fooled by a false display of sadness. He would have to walk as she did, even if he was slower than molasses with his tiny stubby legs. The teacup goat had to run to catch up to Chi and then had to trot to keep up. He was strong though, from years of having to keep up with his larger brothers and sisters back in the forests of their homeland.

Chi entered the people wandering around in front of the gates. A few small vendors were peddling their wares on the newcomers. In the outfit that the forest princess wore most often she was often mistaken for a refugee who had barely arrived in the village. In truth, she refused to dress like everyone else just to fit in. If it were up to her, she’d be completely naked, save for the wolf pelt that she attained from that poor wolf in the desert. This pelt had saved her from the heat just long enough to make it to the village she was currently called home. She thanked that wolf every day for its gift.

Smack. Chi seemed to have bumped into a wall, and Naku in turn bumped into her. One of his horns stabbed Chi’s leg. Although it was blunt at the tip from years of running into things, it still scrapped her leg a moment. She looked down to chastise her younger brother for running into her, although she had just walked into a wall. In the middle of a crowd of people. She had this thought and then quickly looked up at the shadowy figure blocking out the sun. It was a man, standing almost twice the size of the petite woman. She looked him over from bottom to about three-quarters of the way to the top. She couldn’t quite see his head from the angle she was looking from.

“You’re…” She paused for a moment and took a step back. “Big!” She shouted gleefully, a rather enthusiastic grin stapled across her cheerful face. She had never seen a living thing that was this big. He was, living right? She wondered as she impeded his steps, even if it were only out of the kindness of his heart. The titan could certainly walk over her if he wished but she wasn’t scared. She was too excited to be scared. She had seen some large men since coming to Suna, it was as if they were being bred selectively for this very purpose. However, this was different.

“Shinobi?” She questioned him, her thick accent butchering the word. Her common tongue was getting better but her accent stayed the same, making it just as difficult to tell what she was saying sometimes. She waited patiently for a response but Naku had just realized the massive structure in front of them was actually alive. Instantly he wanted pets from this stranger. Naku could most likely stand in the palm of this man’s hand but he did care, all he knew was that his sister had stopped to talk to him.

Right now, it was his time to shine. He ran up to the man’s tree trunk of a leg and tried to jump onto it with his front hooves. Bleating would follow until the man either pets the little guy or refused, at which point Chi would lift him up to keep it from inevitably continuing. He was persistent, and holding onto him was the only way to get him to relax and stop being such an imp.

Sweat would roll down the face of the muscular specimen, as he continued to move forward in the streets of Sunagakure. Unfortunately, those same beads of sweat would fall on the heads of those unfortunate enough to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Jidai would have apologized, but to be honest, what would he be apologizing for? He was already doing so much. He walked slower than what was comfortable for him so as to not bulldoze through the normal people who had a shorter walking cadence than him. He rarely opened his mouth so as to not cause his nonsensically, deep voice to scare everyone around him. Lastly, he always had to walk while looking down so as to not instantly have someone die by giant's foot. He was doing them more favors than, honestly, what they deserved. So with that being said, they would have to deal with the occasional beads of sweat that dropped down from his face. It was either they sweat, or they accept death. And to the potential dismay of a stranger, they'd have to accept sweat with a side of pain.

SMACK!

That stranger, somehow, missed the entire thick tree that was Jidai's leg. However hapless it was of them to walk into a leg of pain, their ill-fate would only continue as the bump would cause a quite a few beads of sweat to fall onto them and...their goat? As Jidai lowered his head to see who had bumped into him, he would notice a woman who resembled a young child in stature. His brows would furrow, and one would raise as he examined the dressing of the woman. She had on clothing similar to what those in ancient times would wear. Was she a refugee? From his times in the Ruins of Old Suna, Jidai had become acquainted with recognizing those who weren't from the village, but the woman in front of him seemed different from them. But just exactly how was unknown to him. But, it could have also been because she was the only person with a pet goat that Jidai had seen in his life.

Yea, maybe it was the goat.

"You're...big!" The tribal woman would say with a thick accent. A quick, rehearsed smile and wave would then be given to her as a response. In times like this, it was better to not talk and cause a scene. And so, Jidai would look to keep things as normal as possible. And that meant being docile. The woman would take a step back as her eyes raced across every inch of Jidai. An awkward smile would spread across his face as he desperately wanted to move on from this situation, but it seemed like the woman was too interested in him to continue on with her day.

"Shine ah bee?"

The man's head tilted and his eyes squinted as he tried to understand what the foreign woman was talking about.

Shine ah bee? Was that a compliment? A question? An insult?

After a little pause and deliberation, a deep chuckle would leave Jidai's mouth. It unexpectedly clicked in his head that maybe the woman was questioning him on whether or not he was a shinobi. Still being careful so as to not talk, the giant would shake his head slowly in response to the woman's question. At this point in time, Jidai was being extremely cautious to not cause any type of scene before landing a job. He knew background on the surface as just as important as reputation underground. And in an attempt to move forward in life, Jidai would do everything in his power to ensure that he didn't screw up his job search.

Too bad the goat wasn't in his power

Out of nowhere, the woman's goat would become bat**** crazy and start climbing its way up Jidai's leg's with a war-cry of bleeting. Jidai's mouth would go dry and begin to fill with a metallic taste. His heart would burst from his chest, and his throat would close. Seeing the weird, horizontal pupils of the goat would cause the giant's eyes to launch out of their sockets, and with a loud, bellowing, bass-fileld scream coupled with a kick, the goat was sent flying far into the air above.

The streets went silent. And all eyes turned on him as he stumbled back a little from shock. At this point, the goat should have, hopefully, began its descent from high above, and the residents of Sunagakure all looked in bewilderment as a goat hurled from the stars like a comet. And with a sigh, all the red-eyed man could whisper was,,

"Crap...."

Chi was so entranced by the behemoth’s size she didn’t notice the beads of sweat that landed in the tribal woman’s matted hair. She spoke to him and he somewhat understood her, which was the best she could ask for. He didn’t speak much and this was something akin to Chi. Except she didn’t speak much because she didn’t know the language well, so was he in the same boat she wondered? As she pondered this query Naku began his ascent of the man’s leg. He was innocent. He just wanted pets. Then the man seized up and Chi instincts began to tell her something was wrong.

The kicked her brother well into the air. She gasped and then gave the stranger a stern look. She could tell by his reaction to his own stunt that he hadn’t meant it, but she was still furious. She was furious at him for kicking her brother into the air and at Naku for always getting himself into trouble. It was why she didn’t bring him on missions. So instead of being angry with the man, she decided to use him as a launching pad, quickly climbing up to his shoulders like a monkey and using one leg to propel herself into the air. She caught Naku with both arms and backflipped to the ground.

“Rude!” She shouted haphazardly. She could see the situation but she still felt some kind of scolding was in order. “Innocent, sweet.” She held the tiny goat up so the large man could stare into his rectangular eyes. “My brother… Wants… Pets!” She forced the words out and waited for a reply. Hopefully, she got an apology of some kind, and not another adverse reaction. She would wait patiently for whatever reaction and then set her brother back down on the ground.

“No jumping on strangers, Naku.” She scolded him in a series of goat bleating. Then she turned to the man once again with a hand against her chest, “Shizen Chikara. Call Chi. Call you?” She was asking for his name. It seemed only fitting that he should be willing to give it up after almost sending her brother into space. She wasn’t sure if he would give it to her, though. Especially since he might think he was going to be in trouble, which he was. That was just from Chi herself, however. She wasn’t a snitch. She preferred to take matters into her own hands.

“Am warrior from… Land of forests. A princess! … Was…” She became sorrowful for a moment as she remembered the sight of her father being murdered by that man. The Maigo and Ichiro’s leader. She shook the thought from her noggin and returned to the matter at hand. “Naku brother, family raise me from young… girl.” This was the most she had spoken since she arrived in the village, except for Kaleidescope. She was obviously in a poor mood now. She was excited to meet a man the size of a tree, but now she was starting to regret their meeting…

So there it was. A goat hurling down at from the sky at who knows how miles per hour. Something needed to be done--and quickly--otherwise everyone in that passing would be covered in the guts of a goat that had done nothing wrong besides wanting pets. Thankfully, its owner was not the ordinary refugee.

When her goat was kicked far into the sky, the tiny woman dressed in tribal clothing could only respond with a gasp filled with the sounds of complete and utter despair. But despite her immediate feelings, this woman was able to act in a way that many others could not. She could separate her feelings from her actions--she could put them aside in order to do what needed to be done. She was courageous. Instead of letting her shock and fears take over her, she would recognize them and ensure that her values were not lost. What this refugee valued was her goat. And she was going to do whatever she could to save him--regardless of how others felt. "Others" included Jidai.

Without wasting any time, the oman would sprint at an unbelievable speed and launch herself onto Jidai's frame. With her momentum keeping her from falling, she'd run a little further before gravity forced her to momentum to cede. It would be at that point when the woman, who was the size of a cat to Jidai, would force her legs into Jidai's shoulders and shoot into the sky like a missile. Locked onto the goat she cherised so dearly, the tribal clothed woman would intercept the falling goat and catch it in her arms in style as she backflipped to the ground.

Jidai would watch this display of talent and agility with open eyes. She was impressive--no, she was more than that. Despite her size. Despite the odds. And despite the shock permeating throughout her entire body, the woman found a way to protect what she valued. It would cause a topic to come to the forefront of Jidai's mind--a topic that was more than a few years late.

What did he value?

But before he could even address the question. The thick-accented woman would begin to scold Jidai for the scene he had just caused. "Rude!" The woman would shout vociferously. Her face was decorated furrowed brows and a tightened face, the obvious signs of anger and annoyance. She'd, quite impressively, grab her goat and raise it so that its cryptic, rectangular pupils were pointed in Jidai's direction. The friendly giant would take a step back as the unnatural pupils opened and closed. It was unsettling, to say the least, for the muscular anamoly, but he had to put up with it for now. He did cause the scene. “My brother… Wants… Pets!”

Wait what? Her brother?

The look on Jidai's face was all too obvious to read. The raised brow and squinted eyes coupled with the wrinkled nose and raised corner of his mouth were more than enough for the woman to realize that the man was not only confused but taken aback by her statement. She didn't need to know the language to know that. However, Jidai would eventually correct his facial expression and perform the next step in this exchange.

With a deep, resonating, rubmbling voice, Jidai would address the woman and the goat saying, "I'm very sorry. It was not my intention. If my apology is not enough, then ask of me what you would like."

The apology seemed to be enough for the woman as she placed the goat down and scolded the goat...with a combination of bleats. It's name seemed to be Naku, and hers Shizen Chikara. The woman introduced herself before inquiring of Jidai's own name. It was at this point, the crowd began to continue on about its day, though a few still stood around still in complete and utter shock of what had happened and currently going on.

"My name is Jidai. Yasu Jidai."

The man would wonder if his words were making the woman uncomfortable with how penetratingly deep it was. He secretly hoped it would cause the conversation to end slightly quicker, but by the looks of things, the woman was genuinely interested in the mammoth. So, the conversation would continue.

"Am warrior from… Land of forests. A princess! … Was…." The woman's eyes seemed to drop as she talked about this. While not an emotional person himself, Jidai could respect her feelings, and continued to listen to the woman's tale. "Naku brother, family raise me from young… girl" The woman's mood only continued to get worse as she talked. Clearly, Jidai had once again succeeded in unintentionally ruinning someone's day. If only there was a job for that; the unemployed man would have unmatched job security, but alas, here he was. Jobless and homeless. Though, things started to make sense to the man. From what he could gather from the woman's words, she was a warrior princess from a land deep in the forests. Given that desert stretched for seemingly forever, it was clear that she was not from these lands. Jidai didn't feel indebted to her or anything, but he did want to at least correct his wrong doing. So with a sigh, the man would squat down, causing a small gust of air to sweep the woman and goat's face. He'd place his hands near the ground and open the palm of his hands.

"You've seem to have had a rough life, and I'm not making that any better. Again, I apologize, but I want to attempt to make things better." The grossly oversized man would briefly pause to let the words sink in before continuing. "Where are you going? Do you and Naku want a ride there?"

What was he getting himself into? Jidai didn't know. But it's not like the homeless man had anywhere in particular to return to, so why not attempt to right a wrong?

The man finally spoke. Chi was only somewhat put off by the bass, and more intrigued by the man than she was previously. He was odd, and Chi liked it. Of course, she was still furious about the events that had just transpired. Then slightly more so when he still didn’t pet Naku. She wasn’t as furious as Naku was disappointed, but still, she couldn’t force the man to pet her brother… Not without causing a bigger scene at least. The hilarity of someone her size fighting someone his size aside, it was clear he didn’t want the attention.

His apology was enough, as he seemed genuinely sorry for his actions. It seemed that his kicking of the small goat was someone reflexive. For some reason, this man was not into cute little goats as Chi was, and she would make a note to better restrain Naku’s habits in the future. He often did without thinking, and it was part of the reason he got her into so much trouble. Luckily, the man took the blame himself and Chi accepted his apology.

“Fine.” Chi said in response before she scolded her brother. Then after her own introduction, he introduced himself with the name Jidai. Afterward, Chi spoke of her past in an attempt to give a clearer understanding of why his actions took such a toll on her. Naku was all the young woman had left of any family she once had, and she would do what she had to in order to protect him. She couldn’t lose anyone else.

Jidai sunk low to the ground and his massive form caused the air to swirl around him, blowing into Chi’s face. She fixed her hair and listened to the words that followed, curious as to why he placed his hands out as he did. Then it became clear. It became evident to Chi that he was attempting to make up for his actions by offering the two a ride on him. Chi looked the man over with wide eyes and then she looked down at Naku who was chasing his little stub of a tail. She snatched him up and climbed aboard the behemoth.

“Sweets! Want go to sweets!” She hadn’t been heading anywhere in particular, but she wouldn’t pass up the opportunity to ride on the back of a man the size of at least 4 of her, if not more. She had never ridden a person, though there were many animals she had rode in the forests of her homeland. This was a new experience that she wouldn’t forget. Of course, surely he knew that such a thing would only garner more attention from the masses.

It seemed Jidai had gotten through to the small woman. Upon understanding his message and intents, her eyes would widen, and her face would glow with the innocence of a child who knew nothing of war, bloodshed, and destruction. And with a snatch of her goat, the tribal princess raced into the hand of the giant.

Now, while Jidai was an absurdly huge individual, he still had the proportions of a normal person. His hands weren't big enough to carry the two of them comfortably, so he'd gently raise his hand and motion for the woman to sit on his shoulder. Her brother, the goat, could join her if he wanted, but if he preferred the hand of the behemoth, Jidai would begin to make his way forward into the streets holding the goat in his hand.

Jidai would squint and flinch his head back slightly as the woman yelled near his ear."Sweets! Want go to sweets!"

If it wasn't obvious before, it was obvious now, there destination was a candy store--or somewhere with sweets. Unknown to the woman, this was one'd of Jidai's first days on the surface, and while this was all somewhat inconveniencing, Jidai didn't mind the heads and whispers of the street while he walked through it. He had already steeled his mind for the looks he would get by atoning for his sins toward the woman. Plus, for just for once, it felt nice to not have a care in the world and to just experience the present. He'd begin walking at his own normal pace--his cadence much longer and quicker than the many people shorter than him. They had all seen him know anyway. What was the point in trying to hide and not cause a seen? The sun's powerful rays of heat would begin to be lessened by the amount of wind blowing against the mountain of the man. It was if a fan was continuously blowing while they walked. It felt nice, and the overall good feeling would only cause Jidai to walk more normally. His pace would begin to pick up more--ever so slightly. Because of this, people began to feel the shaking that his walking caused and cleared a way for him.But it wasn't without protest.

Sneers, whispers, and curses all flew through the air, but Jidai was blissfully unaware. The minuscule smile on his face was not only enough to change the entire look of his face, but it completely took devoured the stress, anxiety, and doubt that his mind had been working so hard to suppress. This small interaction with this woman and goat had allowed him to take a step forward towards a new day--and even if it didn't last for more than 24 hours--he'd make sure to enjoy the little happiness that was overtaking his mind and body.

"Is your sweet tooth as hunger-crazed as Barynx? Is your mouth salivating at the thoughts of candy and other deserts? Then, stop here for sugar, sweets, and all types of delightful treats!"

Jidai would slow down and look for the source of the sound. It wouldn't take long before he saw the middle-aged man screaming from behind his sweets stand. Jidai would lower himself down to a knee and allow the two passengers to go back onto the ground and order their sweets. The man himself would stand tall and quietly as the two examined the sweets and talked to the store-owner. Having no money, Jidai would not join the two in their examination of the sweets.

Desires that can't be achieved only result in heartache...something Jidai had learned over the years. And like habitually, he distracted himself by admiring the sky above.

Chi sat atop the giant holding her brother in her arms. He walked not quite gracefully through the streets with the tiny woman on his shoulders. What a sight that must have been. Chi didn’t care about anyone staring, she never had. She didn’t care about anything these people might think of her. She had a wild heart and she would do what she wanted… Except walk around naked in public, as Kaen had told her it was ‘inappropriate’. At any rate, the giant man was bring in more attention than Chi had imagined possible. They didn’t seem to care for the way his large mass interacted with the surface as they walked.

With each sneer, whisper, and curse that came their way Chi would react in her own way. This included, but was not limited to, sticking her tongue out, cursing in Hosekimori, and giving strange hand gestures that only a native to Hosekimori would recognize; you better believe they were offensive, as many were created by Morisei over the years to be as such. She didn’t understand these people who lived in the civilized world. They were all too concerned with the lives of others. She felt like maybe Jidai felt the same as her, being that he seemed to stick out like a single mountain in the middle of a field. She looked down at him and smiled.

“Baahh!” Naku shouted, spotting the nearby shop. He hadn’t heard or understood the man who was shouting about the sweets, but he smelled them from afar and recognized the items as they got nearer. Chi spotted it, too, and before the man could let them down she leapt from the behemoth and carried her brother over to the shop. She stared in awe at all the treats she had seen before. Still, she was amazed by their shape and flavor. Overall, she admired the sugar high she got from them the most. Before arriving in Suna she had never had anything so blissful in her life. She grabbed up a handful and paid the man using some money that was her own and some she had snagged from her roommate. He wouldn’t miss it.

“Jidai, Jidai!” She shouted with glee. “No sweets? No buy?” She looked confused and wondered why anyone would ever stop at a sweet stand and not purchase any. Then she realized, or perhaps he explained to her, that he had no money for such luxuries. She would gasp, with tiny sweet treats still lodged inside her mouth. She pulled a couple of items from her pile and handed them to her taxi. Perhaps, she thought, she could make a new friend appear out of this strange situation she found herself in that day.
