Name: Himemiya Kou
Age: 12
Physical Description: Kou is small for her age due to her being born premature. Kou has long black hair that by the end of the day, it always ends up in a loose ponytail. Her bangs are choppy and frame her face. Her bright blue eyes never seem to dull even when she is in a sad mood and they stick out on her pale tanned skin. She enjoys wearing loose earth toned dresses with the occasional bright colored kimonos for those special occasions such as festivals. She is always seen clutching a notepad, book or sketchbook to her chest. She does not wear any shoes and if she has to, she wears straw sandals that she hand makes on her spare time if she is not drawing, writing or reading at that time.
Mental Description: Kou is a very sensitive child. She was born deaf so she gets easily confused and frustrated when more than one person is talking at a time since she cannot read more than one set of lips, especially when the group of people are well aware of her lack of hearing. In those situations, Kou will run away, angry at herself for her disability. Despite this set back, she is friendly, kind and slightly mature for her age but not by much. Kou is very patient and sometimes understanding. She will wait for a person for as long as it takes. She also gets confused with her own feelings. Her senses are highly sensitive and when she spends TOO much time around someone, she picks up their emotions and it feels as if those emotions are her own which causes the girl to isolate herself for a few days. Shes slightly naive and doesnt have a lot of people skills so she gets a bit nervous and awkward when she is tossed into a situation she doesnt know how to deal with or has a reference for.
History:
Kou was born on April 20th, 4 months before her due date and the first "battle" for her life she had and won with minor complications. As the years went by, her parents (more her mother than her father since he was busy doing small missions to support his family) noticed Kou was not responding to sound like a normal child would. It was then, at age 2, Kou was announced to her parents as deaf. This would be a struggle for her whole family and Kou for the rest of her life, to figure out ways to communicate with one another. It took until Kou was 5 to get the communication skills down. The young girl had found a deep passion and interest in books and drawings. She would use words and pictures to communicate to her family and close family friends. When she reached the age 9, Kou wanted to learn a new skill, reading lips. She had a deep desire to do so because of a recent book she had read and she wanted ways to somewhat communicate to people that did not know that she was deaf or if she lost her means to "talk." It took her 2 years to learn how to read lips successfully since she does not know how to talk properly.
Now, she wants to go to school, make new friends and see where this unknown path takes her.
