• Name: Hitoshi Sazawari
• Gender: Male
• Age: 12
• Height: 5’ 1” (155 cm)
• Weight: 104 lbs (47 kg)
• Appearance: In reflection on his laidback nature, Sazawari sports a long, unkempt nest of sandy blond hair kept out of his grey-blue eyes by a pair of soldering goggles (which are immensely practical in the desert environment of Sunagakure). As a second tool to keep protected from the fine grains, he wears a short-sleeved long-coat of worn leathery contexture. Beneath the coat he keeps a light button-up shirt with the color of wet sand, and a dark pair of pants accompanied by soft leather boots well fitted for travelling and living in the part of the world that he does.
• Personality: As a result of his upbringing and his own capabilities, Sazawari has come to care little for what others believe or perceive about him. To him, as long as things go along at a pace he is comfortable with, everything is just fine. Carefree, easygoing and outright lazy, his lack of work spirit has often been a source of frustration to his parents. A prime example of an underachiever, he is quick to grasp new things, but usually tends to do just about enough to get by if he is set to a task, often with meager results. Meager, but passable.
However, seated beneath the calm exterior churns an interior in constant conflict with itself. Despite his parents’ appraisal and his own lack of drive or interest in accomplishments, Sazawari has through his childhood come to doubt his own abilities. Not because he is incapable, but rather the opposite. Having always quickly if not mastered, but managed to handle, new tasks set at hand, he has grown accustomed to a certain level of success. The result of this personal development is that he often cracks should a struggle appear too challenging or should he not experience the same level of success as he is used to.
The second major reason for his inner turmoil is the nature and treatment of his late step-father upon himself and his younger siblings. A cause for sadness, anger and general depression, this is something he has never been able to come to terms with, and it continues to pester him in late and early hours, often resulting in bouts of anxiety attacks and sudden outburst of anger, should he feel too pressured or stressed.
Realizing, at least in his own mind, that there’s nothing to do but to smile and move on, Sazawari has adopted a cheerful yet edgy mask, concealing his darker nature with humor, sarcasm and irony, maintaining a sardonic yet laidback surface, letting but a few chosen beneath the veil to look upon his true self.
In summary, Sazawari is a deeply emotionally troubled kid, presenting a calm face and relaxed attitude towards the world, keeping his troubles to himself, letting them constantly gnaw deeper and deeper until it one day goes really bad.
• Bio: Born in what could be described as a pretty ordinary family, Sazawari was the oldest son of a carpenter, Warimaru, and a baker, Sazana. Being senior to his siblings by respectively three and five years, he has always felt the need to protect his younger brother and sister. Without any extraordinary events in his life until the age of eight, the young boy from the desert led a life like most of those his age, playing around, exploring the vast sand dunes, experiencing the roasting sun and diving into the darkness of the depths of Barynx. A few months after his eight birthday, his parents took him into the living room, sat him down and explained why they wouldn’t be living together anymore, that “Mommy and daddy doesn’t love each other that way anymore”. Not being of an age able to comprehend what was actually happening, the divorce didn’t really make an impact upon the young mind.
Half a year later, his mother brought home a new –friend- for dinner; Kaku, a local blacksmith. Coming off as friendly, Sazawari didn’t mind having him around. After all, he seemed to make his mother happy, and his two sons, twins, provided Sazawari and his siblings with a pair of new friends to play with. However, it didn’t take more than Kaku and his two sons moving in with Sazawari and his family in order for him to learn what sort of man this truly was. Living close to them now, it became clear that despite their childlike demeanor, the twins were a mischievous pair of kids, mistreating the younger brother and sister and often scurrying away before any consequences could be laid upon them. Their father, Sazawaris step-father, was painfully clear about the situation, but chose to turn a blind eye, refusing to acknowledge that his sons were bad kids. Instead, he took it out upon the three Hitoshi siblings, both physically and emotionally, often beating upon them, tossing the dishes around or badmouthing their real father or themselves. Three years of abuse eventually ended with his mother, Sazana, finding her daughter with bruises, which finally made her realize what monster she had shared bed with, and sent him and the twins out the door. By then it was sadly too late, and Sazawari was mentally and emotionally scarred for life. In an attempt to channel his negative emotions and outbursts of anger, his mother signed him up for the shinobi academy, hoping that this would provide some sort of support and guidance which she herself could not grant her eldest son.
