Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

"This place is as intimidating as ever..." Kagari stood at the foot of the Toraono Dojo, home to the demon clan. He'd been inside before when he met his longtime mentor, but that was ages ago.
He said his goodbyes to the Merchant Caravan he travelled with from Kumo, they wished him luck on his supposed culinary career. He did wonder how the inhabitants of Suna would take to deer, it was pretty lean but very tasty in a fried sausage form.

A year. A full year and a half had passed since his return. Not due to the travel time, but due to what he suspected was interdimensional time travel. But that was only a theory. As far as he knew, no living shinobi he knew of made time travel actually feasible, let alone alter the fabric of reality. He awaited the consequences he had to face, like for one reporting back to ANBU. He as in a lot of shit for disappearing on the hidden arm of the Ninja Force. Hell, they may torture him for information.

But the fate of his mother concerned him the most. Kagari was the breadwinner of the family and with him gone, how did she survive? He sighed as he waited in line to be entered into the village.

So many fascinating people entered and left Sunagakure. Traders and shinobi primarily, civilians without a trade reason rarely found themselves at the Toraono Dojo unless they were either one - lying or two - had an ulterior motive. Perhaps that was why she enjoyed visiting this particular spot, she enjoyed reading people and seeing what secrets she could glean. So seeing the arrival of a one Toshiwakai Kagari via merchant caravan was a fascinating affair. She would open her book and scribble a likeness of the young man onto one of her open pages. She did not know him yet but she would soon enough. She had incredible speed and drew with photo-realism that suggested she could have taken other more artistic paths in life had she been so inclined.

"Greetings," the woman announced. She was likely smaller than Kagari by a fair margin, standing at just five feet with a short bob of dark hair and sharp, inquisitive golden eyes. She did not seem cold or cruel, but she seemed official enough despite the fact that she was not donning the regalia of a shinobi or the mask of an ANBU. In fact she looked like a casually attired teen in a button-down white blouse that was tucked into a pair of belted earth-toned cargo pants and a thin leather jacket. She was clean but not overly made-up, she never wore nail polish or make-up, why do what a henge could do if she felt so inclined at a much faster and arguably more effective rate. She had been prodding the enforcement powers of this village for the past week, dropping her name casually and even taking small jobs or at the very least replacing someone who should have been completing the job, such as now as she met the prodigal ANBU. She committed no crimes but her behavior was erratic, arguably suspicious. Not enough to hunt her outright but enough to pique their curiosity and to stir them from their state of placidity. "And you are?" She extended her hand to accept his passport.

"Greetings," A new voice from his left caught his ear. A young woman approached him, she looked like she was on her off day Kagari noted from her casual attire. She greeted him in neutral tone, much like the gatewoman that let him out of Kumo.
Kagari wondered to himself if the women who checked him out of Kumo and the one who welcomed him to Suna were related, they seemed to be very impartial to the world around him. Of course, this was probably not likely, as this girl seemed to study his features most closely like she was trying to remember it.

She held out her hand, probably waiting for Kagari's passport so he could be processed and entered back into the records of the village. "And you are?" She asked.
Kagari reached into his pocket and handed the passport to the woman. "I'm Kagari Toshiwakai, returning home to Sunagakure." Kagari lightly bowed his head in a polite gesture.

"If I may ask, What...year is it?" Kagari got out awkwardly, feeling anxious for the coming answer.

"I'm Kagari Toshiwakai, returning home to Sunagakure."

"Strange, I do not know the Kagari surname," she commented as she fondled the passport between her fingers. It felt right, the heft and the thickness. The signature matched the one that she had seen so many times before. "Reminds me of a given name," she noted as she opened up her leather-bound book and jotted down the name she was given. He was pale and thin, his dark hair and eyes contrasted with his flesh making the difference even more pronounced. Glasses and young features. A teen more than likely although that meant nothing in terms of power. "But welcome home," she announced as she handed him back his passport stamped with a small seal in the lower right hand corner stating that he had returned to the village. "Was your journey enlightening?" She asked, her book still open in case he had something fascinating to share.

"If I may ask, What...year is it?"

A strange question, her brow raised at his inquiry. "224," she replied curious. "Why do you ask Mister Kagari?" She looked him over a second time, was the boy just touched in the head or was there something off about him. She stepped in front of him, perhaps he needed to talk to her for a few minutes longer. "I do not believe you mentioned from where you came," she was not being particularly subtle about the fact that she wanted to know a bit more about the traveler since his unusual question was raised. She would not touch the boy, she did not trust the boy as she watched his facial expression for any change or sign of aggression. Her first thought, he was a Sovereign infiltrator. It was a common symptom of captivity to lose track of time. "And can you please take off your shirt?" No, she was not trying to get an eyeful of man or boy candy, there were plenty of shirt-shunning men in Sunagakure. She was looking for something, signs of torture and reconditioning, Potentially seals.

What she said next depends on what Kagari did and what she ultimately saw.

"224," Kagari closed his eyes and sighed. He didn't know why he kept asking the question or holding out hope it was a mistake, it was a year and a half since he left Sunagakure for Kumo.
"Why do you ask Mister Kagari?" He turned his eyebrow up at that one, he's never had his name be called that properly. "If you don't mind, please call me Kagari. It's easier that way."

He scratched the back of his head, trying to think of an answer to her question. "I..I guess I lost track of time when I left the village. Totally not intentional by the way." Kagari chuckled sardonically. "I do not believe you mentioned from where you came," "I went to Kumogakure for a bit of a vacation. I also went looking for foxes." Kagari sighed at that last part, he did succeed but at what cost?

"And can you please take off your shirt?" His eyebrow raised again. "What? Why-" Out of the corner of his eye he could see some of the other potential visitors back away slowly. He looked a bit confused, he had places to be but hoping to get things going and not stir up more problems for him, he acquiesced to the lady's command.

Putting down his pack, he took off of his travelling parka and shirt and placed them neatly by his gear. He extended his arms sideways, forming a cross with his body. "Something wrong?" He asked.

"If you don't mind, please call me Kagari. It's easier that way." </B><i></i>

A request she would not honor. She did not even call the few people she developed an affinity for by anything less than their title. <B>"That would be rude," she replied immediately, making no promises to comply. She could not say she would do something unless she actually would, after all that would be a contract she would likely break. It was not for civility that she used names in the way that she did but it was rather a means by which to burn them into her mind. The books she wrote in were not for her, they never were. Those were for others to learn what she already knew.

"I..I guess I lost track of time when I left the village. Totally not intentional by the way."

Losing track of the years differed from the casual loss of a few days, she did not believe him. Of course she did not push the subject, rather she stored that nugget of information in the back of her mind as she continued her assessment. When appeared to be an issue in this case, she wondered how long he had been gone. She would have to check the logs to see exactly when he left. She did not have the time at the present moment but a trip to the passport office appeared to be called for. Of course, had she known that the boy had been gone for a year and a half, she would not have granted him entry. Too suspicious. Thankfully she was unaware. His answer to her next question would not have helped his case in the least, even if it was the truth.

"I went to Kumogakure for a bit of a vacation. I also went looking for foxes."

"Foxes in Kumogakure," she repeated. That hardly seemed like a reason to travel across the world, despite his claim yet she wrote it down in the margin of her book. Kagari Toshiwakai. Prefers "Kagari." Disoriented to year. Physically appears to be a teen. Vacationed in Kumogakure in search of foxes. Not everyone was truthful, something she knew well. She wondered what his truth actually was. While the boy had been nothing but honest, a clever fib would have been likely more accepted than the vague story he shared. She she asked him to strip away his shirt. She knew the behavior patterns of people such as Nao and the Sovereign members well enough to recognize their trademarks. Some were simply sadists. Some were control freaks. Some were just freaks. She half-expected him to fail to comply, forcing an altercation at the gate but he did not. He casually removed his shirt and placed it to the side with his gear. She would walk around him, using the SNAPSHOT [Mastered] jutsu as he lifted his arms to either side. [Assuming the Profile is up to date] No distinctive markings such as a seal or numerous scars, trademarks of varied Sovereign members during the course of reconditioning. "One Kagari Toshiwakai is clean," she commented as she flipped a page in her book and scribbled a sketch of the shirtless boy to compliment the clothes sketch she had on the other side.

"What rank are you Kagari Toshiwakai?" She could at least abandon the 'mister' for the time being. She was letting him in. She clapped her book closed and slid in into the shoulder bag slung over her shoulder and opened a fresh book. A spiral bound notebook that logged basic information regarding those that entered or left the village.

Initial next to your name and you will be all set," she advised as she ended her snapshot recording.

Once he took off his shirt, the woman began her inspection of his body. It felt kind of weird to be standing in at the gates of the village with a bunch of people staring at your half-naked body.
It wasn't that Kagari had anything to be ashamed of, he just didn't expect this. She was looking for something specific on his chest or arms, like some sort of seal or mark. Did she think he was a spy?
It was perfectly reasonable considering he could be a considered a missing persons, or even a missing shinobi.

"One Kagari Toshiwakai is clean," It seems she was done with her inspection. He could see she was writing something into her notebook, he could almost see over it and noticed that she was actually drawing.
Interesting...Regardless, he put back on his shirt and jacket; figured he didn't need to be shirtless anymore. He noticed that she was calling him by his full name, a step in the right direction he mused.

He just felt old when being called "mister" by others.

"What rank are you Kagari Toshiwakai?" She asked. "Chunin I believe. I made Chunin last ye-" he cut himself off, forgetting momentarily it has been two. . "Excuse me, I was made Chunin two years ago." This rank was his cover as he was Made ANBU a year and a half ago before he disappeared. It was a way that he could still interact with other Shinobi and citizens publically without dropping the A-word.

Kagari sighed and shook his head. She closed her book and placed it in her bag; switching for another book. She turned it towards him, indicating he had to sign it.

Initial next to your name and you will be all set," Kagari nodded and took the pencil that was nestled in the centre of the notebook. He marked down "KT" with his left hand and placed the pencil back in it's designated spot. Once he was done, he picked up his pack and slung it back on his shoulders. "Thanks for answering my question by the way...I guess it was a little weird to ask. It just confirmed that I am very late and my mom is going to kill me."

Kagari bowed politely to the woman and made his way into the village.

He would most certainly be seeing Michi again soon. A curious teen that one was. She would leave the log book on the table, by the looks of things there was nobody else coming through the doors of the Toraono Dojo anytime soon. He would depart and after Kagari left the immediate vicinity she too would depart. Watching the gates was not even her job. She would brush against a chair that was propped up against a door a few hundred feet down a corridor and the resident that was pounding and shouting on the other side would come tumbling out. He really should have thought twice about pooping in the middle of his shift with no partner gatekeeper. She melded with the shadows before he stumbled to his feet. His temporary captor unseen, there would likely be a relevant report regarding the incident. Or perhaps not. The paperwork for an entry was completed. Did the sentinel really want to report that he was not only locked in the bathroom but that someone's entry was processed in his absence. Probably not.

She had other places to go. New people to see.
