Name: Hyuura Zakira
Age: 10
Gender: Male
General Description: Zakira is slightly under-average appearance wise. He stands 4’2” and 68 lbs soaking wet, his build overall slim and very compact. The little bit of weight that makes up his body seems to all be tightly compacted muscle. None of it's all that obvious though, so it isn't like the boy has a six pack... or even a four or two pack really. The way he walks and moves in general reminds one of an acrobat, or a dancer, and thus is slightly hard to predict at times. His skin is a touch on the pale side, though not unhealthily so, and is more of an inherited trait than a lack of going outside. He’s often covered in scrapes, bruises and cuts, all in various stages of healing, and the only real scars he has are marks from the talons of birds of prey on his forearms and shoulders from times he was foolish enough not to wear proper protection. His eyes are deep, dark purple, and he always seems to be shifting his focus to take in everything around him. They hold a spark of mischief and curiosity, no matter what the situation. The whole rest of his body may seem relaxed, or even tired, but it never reaches his eyes. His hair is long enough to make it annoying by hanging in his eyes occasionally, but not long enough to need to be cut or so Zakira feels. It’s dark purple in hue, mimicking his eyes near perfectly. (The fact the shades are very slightly different bothers the… vaguely-hyperactive boy.)
His attire tends to be slightly… obnoxious. He favors bright shades of green and blue, as well as occasionally white and gray. Black isn’t uncommon either. Most of the time, he runs around in a pair of cargo shorts, the typical shinobi sandals (Black in color), and a white t-shirt or tank top. He hates shoes though, and would rather run around barefoot all the time, which he does as much as possible. His favorite hoodie is an obnoxiously bright shade of green, with a huge hood. The whole thing engulfs his small frame rather effectively.
History:Hyuura Zakira was an accident. Plain and simple.
His mother, Hyuura Namiko, and his father, a Konoha shinobi, had made an arrangement several years before Zakira's birth that left both of them satisfied, though it was never formal, and there were no strings attached. They merely enjoyed each other's company and the other... er... benefits of such a friendship. When Namiko revealed that they had slipped up, and she had become pregnant, Zakira's father was rather firm in that he couldn't help raise the child. While he would make sure that Namiko and young Zakira would have all that they needed that he could provide, he intended to be completely absent otherwise from Zakira's life. As the relationship had been completely casual, Namiko's only regret in his removing himself from her life was the loss of his friendship. There had been no actual love between the two.
So, Zakira was ushered into the world with no celebration or fanfare. Just another small child born to a single mother, who spent her days working in a factory. While his mother was working, Zakira was watched by his great uncle, Kaito. Namiko was stubborn about living on her own despite Kaito's frequent offers to let her move in with him, and let him help care for young Zakira. Thus, Kaito's fair sized house remained empty. His wife had passed on several years ago, and his children had already left the nest, so to speak. Every day, however, Namiko came home exhausted.
One day, Kaito asked the purple-haired child what he wanted to be when he grew up. Rather sagely, Zakira told his great uncle he didn't want to be like his mom. He didn't want to work in the factories, and be exhausted and dirty, and coughing all the time, and be so use to the smell of rust and metal that it smelled normal to him. He wanted to become a shinobi, like the ones out of some of the stories Kaito had read to him. The ones who won through deceit, and disappeared like smoke, and befuddled the senses. All Kaito did was smile, and suggest that perhaps some day, Zakira would work for Konoha Corporation as a genjutsu specialist, perhaps even as an ANBU. This was the first time Zakira showed any inclination towards becoming a shinobi, though he had always been a particularly dexterous child. (A bit like a monkey, Kaito often reflected. Particularly after he had been stuck in Namiko's small apartment for a day or two.)
When Namiko was trying to decide what school to send the young Zakira to, it was Kaito that suggested the Ninja Academy. Though their family had no shinobi background, there was no denying that Zakira would probably make a fair shinobi. His father wasn't a particularly bad one, even based solely on the funds that he provided for Zakira and Namiko. So, at the age of about 6 years old, Zakira got his first taste of what a shinobi really was. (Not, of course, that he immediately began shinobi training in his first year at the academy. After all, they have to learn to read and write and that sort of thing as well!)
After Zakira had been in the academy for one year, Namiko cracked. The woman had been on the verge almost since Zakira was born, and frankly, Kaito was impressed she had lasted this long. Raising the child, losing her... friend, and working at the factory seemed to be too much of a strain on the woman, and it was determined that she could potentially be a danger to Zakira. The purple haired child was taken from her care, and given to Kaito to raise. Namiko has visitation rights, of course, and Zakira does love his mom, but "Grandpa Kaito" had always been a bit more of a parent than she was.
While Namiko had been trying to raise Zakira on her own (for the most part), Kaito had taken up falconry. When Zakira (with his seemingly boundless energy) moved in, he also took up falconry right alongside his "grandpa." For his 8th birthday, Kaito gave him a young mountain hawk-eagle named Tengu. The idea was to provide Zakira with some focus alongside his shinobi training, while he tried to train Tengu to become a "proper" falconry bird.
In the past 3 years, Namiko has seemed to settle a fair amount, and Zakira has shown a fair amount of skill in the shinobi arts, as well as having made great progress with Tengu.
