Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

Guardian of Lightning. Her title. Her identity. That was who she was. And with her, she brought the storms. It wasn't always like that, but at night, sometimes it couldn't be helped that the skies would darken, and booming thunder rolled over Iwagakure as a heavy rainfall came pouring down. And where thunder was, she was quick to follow. Bright lightning flashes, brought and created in her wake. It was like a comfort really. Tonight however, was the changing of the guard. She had...personally saw it in her interest to take up the security. Megami would pay the Daimyo of Earth Country a visit this evening. Whether it be due to business or just to get a good feel of personality, she didn't know. But the Goddess had led her to this path, and there would be little consequences simply looking into it, figuring out how this person ticks.

Megami had made her entrance silent and quiet. There was a reason she maintained her current rank, and it by no means suggested she didn't have experience dealing with stealth operations and keeping herself undetected and under the radar. Plus it helps when obviously you're the top tier in security and potentially not deemed a threat. The storm quietly boomed outside, and bright flashes could be seen as the windows lit up with light. Megami paid them no heed. She was seeking her target, dwelling within the complex. She had no experience when it came to really touring this place, and thusly had never bothered to step foot in it, but one would be surprised how well they can navigate a building just by glancing at blueprints and schematics. Megami was also tracking life energy throughout the house. Going on instinct, she started tracking the strongest one. It led her to the door of an office. She would make no noise, and press her ear silently to the door. No noise came from inside. The pink haired woman, dressed in her dark leather outfit adorned with beige cloaks, could not compromise her position by simply assuming the room empty. No, she was smarter than that. Another jutsu later, she combined her being with the door itself, and separated on the other side. One might be impressed with her level of stealth and care to the situation, but really she didn't care if she was caught or not. It simply interested her to observe before interacting. Her life energy was masked, another precaution. Yet, even still she had the funny sense that the Daimyo would still be aware of her. It wasn't like the Daimyo wasn't a highly trained warrior herself, despite the air of a cushy job. Megami's eyes trained on everything in the room, just looking. Portraits of family, a cluttered desk, bookshelves lining the walls of various colors and accents. The fleeting thought that this office had more personality than her own came into her mind, but it slipped out just as quickly. What she retained from such an office that, while rather bland, and somewhat disorganized, there was a homey feel upon the act of professionalism displayed to a certain degree. Perhaps a reflection of the offices owner. An interesting theory in and of it's own.

A loud crack of lightning could be heard and seen outside, it lighting up the room instantly. Megami stepped forward from the shadows, the light reflecting in her pale aqua eyes, causing the green flecks to shimmer momentarily until the shadows faded in. Megami was under the assumption the Daimyo was behind her desk, the chair being turned around. She quietly stepped up to the desk, and sat down in a chair that faced across from it. "I finally get to make your acquaintance." Her hand reached into the inner pockets of her cloak ever so slowly. With a still, elegant hand, a card was removed from it. She placed the card on the desk, the image of a crane clearly visible. A smirk played on Megami's lips, as she was sure to allow the card to make the folding smack a card would make during shuffling upon the desk. "Tell me...would you be interested in a little game?" As the challenge was issued, another bolt of lightning lit up the sky outside. This was an odd request from someone like Megami, for sure, but then again, she had a feeling that the Daimyo wasn't simply interested in bland conversation and politics. No, this was to see the inner workings of the mind, so a game of wit, of strength, showing the puzzles and keys of the mind was the only way to go. This was a challenge of minds, and she was ready to see if the Daimyo was up for it.

Truth be told: Let's hear it. The woman had actually been asleep amidst the storm that brewed across the dark sky. The cracks of thunder? They had little to no effect on her, and she nearly did not realize what was going on at this point as she leaned into the palm of her hand, back facing the doorway. The chair. . . was just so damn comfortable. Now she knew why she saw her mother dazed and dozed off in her later years as the graying, tribal tattooed woman attempted some semblance of work. It wasn't like Haruka could blame her, though. A long life led to longer and longer naps, and it was something she knew that the older woman could appreciate. Now, then, it was her turn to catch little cat naps as she worked on whatever called her attention towards it. Even the thunder was not shaking this little nap, but. . . As soon as the woman could feel another presence in the area around her. . . that was when she found herself snapping out of any kind of stupor that she had been in. Her eyes would narrow towards the window in front of her. So, who was here?

After all, she was just dying to know at this point. Resisting any kind of temptation to reach out and lash out with the full force of any one of the weapons she kept stashed in this little room here, she would wait. However, when she finally heard a voice, she'd settle her eyes shut once more. A person visiting her at these hours? Oh, if only she knew whom it could be. A person that could pique her interests? Well, that was a hard task in her mind. Though, why would someone approach her in the dead of night? "Ah, so it is acquaintance that you seek?" Then that was what she would give, and it would be what Megami would receive. Turning her body in the chair slowly, she would meet the other woman. Her elbows were planted on each arm of the chair and her fingertips met to make a tent as she watched the other with care. Ah, so where had she seen this face before? A fleeting moment on the street? Someone that she did not know would make impact? Oh, whatever.

Closing her eyes, she would allow a small smile to touch her full lips. "I take it we are not going to be playing Go Fish?" She'd ask, tapping her foot against the ground just lightly. It was her way of accepting the game at hand.

"Begin."

The Daimyo was already turning out to be an...interesting woman to say the least. Megami was a good judge of character, something she'd trained herself to pick up on in order to prevent risking her safety, the safety of others, and just overall knowing who was in the end not a potential threat she should be concerned about based on moral faith. Even a private, stoic, independent leader needed people they could rely on, no matter how strongly they would deny it aloud. Megami's eyes remained trained on the Daimyo's face the second she turned around in her chair. Her head propped by her arms, a smile on her face. Ah, but this wasn't a normal smile. No, this smile voiced many silent things. It was like, looking at a Cheshire cat, who has already captured it's lunch 10 steps before the mouse has even left it's hole. Megami wondered what made her so confident, so...definitive. Her expression gave away no sign that she was psychologically breaking down and analyzing the behaviorisms of the woman before her. But, she did find herself smirking when her challenge was accepted.

Megami reached into her inner coat lining once more and retrieved a full deck of cards, all with similar stylish designs compared to the first one that still lie on the desk. "Tch, I wouldn't insult either of us with a kid's game." Even the most dense of people would distinguish a compliment in that statement, despite it coming off in a rather nonchalant manner. There was a hint of underlying humor in it, after all. When issued to begin the game, Megami leaned forward, laying down 8 of the cards, four to each side, upon the desk. She dealt 8 cards to Haruka, and 8 to herself, the rest of the deck being placed on the side. She sat back with her cards in hand, but not inspecting them yet. "The game is called Hanafuda. I'm not sure how familiar you are with it. Some people say, it can really tell you a lot about someone's mind...about their strategy." Megami carefully reached out, fingering through her cards. She carefully removed one from her hand. She was about to place it down, when she paused momentarily and looked back up, her eyes calculating. "How about we make this a bit more interesting. A friendly wager, perhaps?" Now, Megami wasn't that big of a gambler really, but she wanted to see just what kind of person the Daimyo was. This was, after all, the purpose of her presence at such a late hour. One where no one would interrupt them. Without waiting for an answer, Megami finally placed her card down. Cherry Blossum Suit, Ribbon card, allowing her to claim the Cherry Blossum Suit, Bright card, which lie on the table. Flipping over another card, it matched no card on the table, ending her turn. Looking back to Haruka, Megami tilted her head in challenge.

"Your move."

Haunted laughter echoed throughout the solemn halls of Haruka's mind. It was, of course, the sickness coming to light. The whispers in the back of her head that spelled out self destruction. . . A trained eye such as Megami's could've deciphered the golden flash that flickered across the icy maiden's eyes as she watched the pink haired individual across from her. After all, it was only natural that her inner demon wanted to come out to play. . . However, such a leisure would be something that got Haruka killed. This was simply something that she could not risk, though. She had a country to watch over, to keep from falling into an incurable turmoil. Slipping her fingers away from each other, she would use her elbows to pull herself up in her chair. Bringing her hands up, she'd bring her long strands of blonde hair to rest over her chest, the strands collecting in her lap and falling off to the side. Now sitting up with the type of posture that would make a person cringe, she would reach forward, grabbing the cards from where they had been laid out before her. "A little bit of child's play never hurt anyone," she'd comment with a fan of cards held in front of her facial features.

Ah, a game that she had never heard about. That was fine with her. She found herself adapting rather quickly, but with her conquering mind, would it show her off to be brash? To be impatient? Too many things that she did not want anyone to know seeping out from the cracks of the foundation that she had worked oh so hard to repair. However, she kept up a delightful poker face. After all, the Lead Guardian had graced her with her presence. "One could say that Hanafuda and I are. . . quite the strangers." Not even acquaintances. A wager. . .? Seemed incredibly unfair at this point, but Haruka never really looked at things from a fair and unfair manner. There were people all over the world with far more experience than her. People who were more powerful than herself, so why should a little wager bother her? Oh right, it didn't bother her one bit. Laying each card face down, Haruka would simply just smile. "Loser has to do a strip tease, clearly." From the side of her desk, Haruka would bring up a cigarette holder and hold it to her lips: The Cigarette fit snugly in there was unlit. It seemed as though it had been there for quite a while.

However, Haruka still took a methodical drag from it as if it was legitimately lit. Reaching forward with her free hand, she'd take a hold of one of the cards, pushing it forward with the tips of her fingers until it was midway between the two of them. With her nails, she'd pull the card from the flat surface and soon flip it over to reveal the contents:

The Daimyo's breath would pass her lips, a small cloud hovering above the desk. . . and little snowflakes would lazily float downwards. "Oh dear, how did you get in there?" She'd speak quietly, lifting her gaze up to meet the other woman's features. Now, her amused look was nothing more than a grim smile.

"I do believe this means it is your turn."

It wasn't strange or odd that the woman across from her hadn't heard of Hanafuda. But Megami could still comprehend that their mannerisms were very much similar. Still, there was a difference and Megami could notice that. She silently wondered if the wager would be accepted then, given that it's not fair to play against someone who doesn't know the game. But then again, it's only more interesting isn't it? Megami's eyes trailed to the woman's hands, wondering what card she would go for. She didn't expect to hear the Daimyo's wager offer though. Megami looked up, a flash of surprise flashed in her eyes for just a second, before they looked away and closed. "Huh, that's rather forward." She wasn't disagreeing with it, but she couldn't say she was agreeing with it either. It was mostly just a game of interest to her. She hadn't expected the request of course. It reminded her of an old friend, and she wasn't sure she really felt like digging into her past, after having done so much to put it behind her.

At last, the Daimyo placed the card on the table. Megami's eyebrows furrowed in question. It was a dead man, struck down by a total of 10 swords. Megami knew this wasn't a card she had brought with her in the card deck she had. So, this was going to be a different kind of game. She crossed her arms, sitting back in the chair. Smirking. "Seems a little unpractical. Either they don't know how to kill a man, or someone really hated him." Tilting her head, she continued to exam the card. One she herself was unfamiliar with. She also silently wondered of the frosty air that swirled on the desk. "How did it get in there, indeed. Our Daimyo, the magician? I believe our playing field is evened then, as I am unfamiliar with your card." Megami, without looking at her own cards, withdrew one, lightly grasping it between her index and middle finger. She flipped it over carefully, displaying a deer. Placing it down, she hummed to herself. "A card game. A display of entertainment, relying mostly on luck. Tell me, do you consider yourself a lucky person?" Megami wasn't much mind games, but she did question. She could be equally at stubborn as she could be curious. She didn't know if she even believed in luck. Strategy was the only way to keep you alive. It was the reason she trained so hard. So, all talk and games aside, it was a worthy question.
