Character's Physical Description: Yuuto is quite average and does not show any glaring qualities about his physique. However if closely inspected, one would find that his hands are rough and his wrist are strong. From years of swordplay, almost starting since he could walk he had become quite adept. His skin is a darkened tan, one that he shares with most of his family. Unusually his hair is white as snow, and his eyes green as the forested land in the Fire Country. There are also numerous scars on his body, while treated well, being a hunter does not grant the best physical health at all times.
Character's Mental Description: Yuuto's demeanor is somewhat light hearted but serious. He makes cracks at times, and he can be a potty mouth sailor with the best of them. He is kind and gentle but when his temper is unleashed it's a hard thing to quell. Most of the time however that temper will be kept to himself, as he views being angry a waste of good energy. Maybe some of the traits of elders have rubbed off to give him a cool head, but he just likes to think he's too happy for all that mess.
Character History: The Masaru Clan, cousins to the ancient house of Nara. They were fierce in intelligence and deadly with their control over the shadows. The Masaru Clan held onto those abilities of the shadows, but found their comfort not in a seat thinking but out in the world. Whether it was exploration, or hunting. From the earlier days in the Lightning Country they took on jobs as Monster Hunters, tracking down abnormal creatures and even some of a spiritual persuasion. Life was good but as always times change and like their cousins the Masaru fell into the line of Shinobi work, never viewing it as a bad thing seeing that Cloud had pretty gracious laws when it came to dealing with others.
Yuuto was born to Masaru Kira, and Masaru Asuna. The couple much like the rest of their family dealt in hunting monsters down even being as so bold to take their son with them on easy jobs as a baby strapped to their backs. When Yuuto was four he went on raving about swords and always seemed to be interested in his mother's collection. Seeing as this would be an easy way to pursue his latent abilities they began to teach him how to use blades. At the age of seven he was given his first sword to keep. This blade was black as night, and emitted the coldest chills as if the steel had been stuck in a freezer. While the blade was a gift for protection there was another reason that they had given him such a weapon. The Masaru Clan's weapons were strong normally, but never perfect and could be shattered if met with a strong enough monster's rage. In order to supplement this they used their shadows and created a pool of darkness that drew from the source of their power. Using this "pool" they would let their weapons soak for three days allowing the combined power of their shadows to enchant the blades. The shade would leave an imprint on the weapon, a lingering energy that could be tapped into to amplify their weapon's abilities. For
At the age of nine his ability to control shadows began to develop bringing attention from his clan that at such an early age he was able to use them better than some could during their early years. This was due to the Night Blade his parents had gifted to him which tended to fostering his ability to use the darkness in the first place. He was accustomed tainted by it's spectral power and from there he could only grow more. His uncle Koki, came into the picture at this point hoping to help further his skills even greater. His uncle's ability to control these shadows were far greater than the normal Masaru, so he took it upon himself to nurture his nephew's talent.
Yuuto was put through the ringer each day, as Koki pushed him through many training methods. He had expected the young Masaru to be have his hands tied behind his back and be able to use shadows in creative ways to escape death traps. There was one point where he had to use his shadows to enter the cracks of a spiked ceiling to disrupt the trap's function. Every experience was meant to turn him into a creative thinker when it came to using his birthright in the actual field. There was only one more place he could go to further his training and everyone knew eventually he'd be trying to get into the Shinobi Academy. However his parents would refuse him until he could prove himself to them.
Two years of training with Koki later, on his eleventh birthday his mother and father escorted him to his first hunt. They had gotten a job to hunt down some goblins at the foothills of Kumogakure who had been terrorizing small farming families in the plains. He was expected to do this on his own, with Asuna even threatening that if he failed, she would personally let him die at the Goblin's hands. Energetic as always Yuuto took to the challenge with pure excitement. When they found the camp only seven goblins were there parading around a campfire with their blades in hand and rum all around. They were in a drunken stupor, one of which he'd use to his advantage. Yuuto ran in and immediately began slashing at the first goblin near him, slitting the back of their neck one end to the other. Immediately the rabid creatures began to attack him, but they were slow and off balance, Yuuto felt like he had the upper hand as he slashed at yet another one across the front of the neck, and swiftly impaling a third in the chest.
The remaining four began to smarten up as they entered a formation attacking and defending against Yuuto. He was becoming to get overwhelmed and in a fit of adrenaline he rushed forward allowing himself to be cut on the side of the ribs while he delivered a blow to one of the attackers. The last three goblins took immediate action and began to batter away at him. The blows were difficult to avoid but with a stroke of luck the majority were deflected. Tired and bleeding he attempted another assault only to be met with defeat as a Goblin literally disarmed his weapon and breaking it in half. This goblin was larger than the others, a King goblin most likely and the commander of this platoon. With no sword the last option was his shadow jutsu, which would slither across the ground like back snakes. When they thought their attack was bound to get through Yuuto sprung his jutsu from the ground impaling with an augmented form of a Fire Ninjutsu. The creatures were felled in another great move, what else could a child do but a celebratory dance?
His parents commended his victory over the goblins noting that he paid attention to his studies as the creatures were weak to fire. Most creatures in one way or another were weak to fire, but even more to their enchanted shadows. Seeing as he passed their test, Yuuto was then enrolled into the academy within the next few weeks. Every day was packed with studying more jutsu techniques, and ways he could utilize them. Compared to Koki's training the academy was a breeze and instructors noted that this one had been trained extensively. He didn't belong with the regular group of children who were just learning, he belonged in the next level. After a year at the academy the Genin exam was within range, and for theirs would be a battle against eachother. Two classes were mixed up and put against eachother. They were given flags and a home base for a Capture the Flag game. The students were expected to use their powers but there were absolutely not allowed to kill another. Upon capturing the enemy flag and bringing it home you received points. If you stopped an enemy and returned your flag you win points. After each capture they were told to take a break while medical ninja healed them for a reset, and so that the next round could begin.
Yuuto was paired with kids he never went to class with. He didn't know them all very well, and only a small amount of his teammates were friends. So it meant to him that he'd be fighting his friends, something that they were counting on. He was expected to hurt them, enough so that they wouldn't hinder the team, nor would they die which was a simple task to the Masaru. There were gentle ways of winning, in truth you didn't even have to fight. He took advantage of every moment, making strategies on the way to the home base and discussing their strengths and weaknesses. Since he knew most of the kids on the other team he was able to formulate a battle plan against each child. The first two rounds were spent observing hiding in stealth and watching the enemy attempt to take the flag. Yuuto's team would allow them to get it unknown to them that it was what they wanted. Every now and then they would put mild pressure on the other team stopping them and returning the flag but they made sure the goal was to make them sweat and allow them to win the first two rounds. After seeing how the other team moved, a few plans were made to counter them and needless to say their team began to dominate. They alternated between three strategies that would end up earning them 5 wins. The other team was catching on doing battle better and trumping them here and there. The two groups battled for hours and at the end of the night it was decided who won.
Yuuto's team had ended up losing, by 1 flag but they did not fail the exam. It was to test their skills and their ability to think on their feet. They had won in another sense, as Yuuto had scored the most amount of points regardless of the flag competition. Everyone had a great feast later on that night to celebrate the children's graduation, and they could only move on up from here.
As a Genin things were pretty solid, for a while. His jobs were simple, and the missions even more so. Genin normally didn't get dangerous missions seeing as they were still children and still growing. The grind from a simple Genin to a full fledged Chuunin candidate was a simple yet time consuming matter. It took him two years to do it, and a consistent show of his ability to be a good shinobi, and furthermore a good villager to Kumogakure. The way Yuuto saw it was that they were born into a world where death was meant to be an occupation, but it didn't mean you had to lose your humanity about these things. People weren't originally like monsters, and while some could stray and act like it they were still people. He couldn't deny that he had already thought about what to do when faced with having to kill an enemy but most times he sought to greatly wound them and incapacitate the target. Killing didn't always have to be your go to option, but sometimes things could not be avoided.
He learned this well during his Chuunin Exam which ended up being another mission. Cloud had caught wind of a traitor within their ranks. It was someone from a different country who had impersonated a Kumo Shinobi, who later turned out to be deceased in the basement of their home. Yuuto and two other Genin were with a Jounin leader, while they hunted this person down. It took them an hour to catch onto his track, as the bastard was bold enough to stay in Lightning Country only heading to the lowlands to blend in with the citizens. When they finally caught up traps and a group of mercs had already been there waiting for them. They were forced to fight in a pre-set mine field by the enemy, while avoiding archers and ninjutsu users. In order to escape they fled into the woods seeking a way around the enemies. However their target had another ambush with ex shinobi on his side who id battle with the group. Their Jounin was able to take on one of them while the other two Genin fought the second. The target had used this time to make his escape but Yuuto caught onto this long before. He was focused on that man only, looking to find a way to capture him. As the target fled with the Masaru in pursuit, he ran to a camp in order to retrieve an item. This item turned out to be a hostage as he peeped what the young Genin was doing.
While the enemy had the upper hand, and a girl as a hostage which they couldn't risk the obvious tactic of using a shadow up front to bind him wasn't an option. The spy would see the shadow and likely harm the girl to show his power. It was clear either he thought he'd lose or did not want to risk prolonging himself as he barked orders for Yuuto to lay down his blade and get against the tree. He did as he was told and almost immediately as he did, the bastard rushed in to try to and stab him in the back, however he did't know about the shadows and using them to create a spear, it only took a moment to release the tendrils and allow them to impale his enemy. While not mortally wounded he immediately rushed back to the girl and there was only one option. Either play this safe and try to bind him, or halt him in his tracks. Without wasting the little time he did have, the Genin made a clutch decision and rolled forward picking up the blade and flinging it into the back of his opponent. The target was going to eventually bleed out, but Yuuto otherwise felt bad things had to come to this. Peace was an ideal many did not believe in but the job of Shinobi didn't leave much room to spare another when they were a constant threat. Nevertheless it was a mission success, and they could move on to be Chuunin.
Three years rolled on by and Yuuto had only become a sharper individual now at the age of 18. A year or so back he had acquired an interest in the ANBU division. It had all started after he had stopped a group of thugs and wondered about any way to capsize this threat? The Main branch by all rights and intents were the guards of such things, but was there a way to dig deeper, to dig further? The answer became obvious as he looked into the matter. The ANBU were the elite of Kumogakure, or any village really. They were like your special ops, who came settled things in the dark, and were tasked with the highest guard of the village. It might have been the mysteriousness that enticed him, or the fact you were basically becoming a true Vangaurd of the village. If it was a way to truly pursue a greater good, and the next level in his line of work who wouldn't want to join? The protection of the village on all fronts was seemed like it was supposed to be their objective.
So Yuuto spent a year honing his skills, refining his mastery over the shadows. He had to develop a greater mental fortitude something to solidify why they should choose him to become an ANBU. The Training program was easy enough to get into. Everyday they were woken up at the crack of dawn, to run the gates strapped down by weights. They were expected to run at least twenty miles with over 250 pounds strapped onto them and hosed with water. It seemed like the weather worked against them half the time raining down during their training. They were mentally probed and given a crash course in interrogation to focus on how much mental abuse they could take and how they were never supposed to crack. Combat training was rough at times employing things they weren't used to, however Yuuto kept his demeanor through this even against the so called "Demons" seeing as ANBU were preparing for defense of all shapes and sizes. His experience as a Monster Hunter helped tremendously as he had already seen all kinds of creatures from an early age. It was this experience that helped build fortitude and resolve into him as was expected. The ANBU took great note in his potential, but the kindness he exhibited at times made them wary. This did not stop Yuuto as he pursued his goal with the determination of a titan, and within another two years of rough training in the AiT program he was finally placed in the ANBU.
Now finding his way in the ANBU Yuuto strives to be all that he can be. He vows to protect his home and their Raikage. He swears to uphold justice in order to find peace. This is the path he has chosen to walk, and with such a young life there is only more time for him to grow.
