Ninpocho Chronicles

Ninpocho Chronicles is a fantasy-ish setting storyline, set in an alternate universe World of Ninjas, where the Naruto and Boruto series take place. This means that none of the canon characters exists, or existed here.

Each ninja starts from the bottom and start their training as an Academy Student. From there they develop abilities akin to that of demigods as they grow in age and experience.

Along the way they gain new friends (or enemies), take on jobs and complete contracts and missions for their respective villages where their training and skill will be tested to their limits.

The sky is the limit as the blank page you see before you can be filled with countless of adventures with your character in the game.

This is Ninpocho Chronicles.

His eyes scanned the cards in his hand, the gray orbs barely moving as he looks at them closely. It wasn’t a great hand, to be honest. A two, three fours, and a five. Most people would have chosen to stand and let the dealer deal himself out. Maki wasn’t most people. For one, he was burning Isaki Clan money which he loved to do. He had a perverse sense of pleasure at pissing off his in-laws.

For two, however, was that he knew this dealer was cheating. He saw it from the nearby craps table, and decided to wander over and play a few hands of blackjack to verify his suspicion. And after a dozen or so games, he knew the next card would be another two, which would put him dead even on twenty-one. He watches the other’s hands as they go to meet his call for the next card, the moment of victory upon him as he snaps his own hand out, gripping the other by their wrist and trapping the card, and indeed the entire delivery mechanism, right there as it tried to dispense a different card into the dealer’s hand.

”Well, looks like someone has a…” Maki reaches down and rips the card, looking at the corner he can see. ”…a five up their sleeve. Really? A five of diamonds? If you’re going to cheat, learn to cheat good, kid.” His grip tightens as the other begins blubbering in fear. Indeed, Maki looked quite fearsome right now. He was wearing a well-made suit, a gold dress shirt under a crimson jacket with matching pants. That part was not scary, not even his black dress shoes or the white gloves he had on his hands.

The fearsome thing was his face, staring at this cheating dealer with an unmasked hunger and glee. ”Keep crying and I’ll give you something to actually cry about. Tell me who is in charge of this place so I can put everything here on the straight and narrow. Now.” His grip goes even tighter.

”Oh, and be quick about it before I shatter your wrist.”

Nobu was already on the casino floor when he spotted the dispute that was taking place, his eyes focused down on the man as he headed over into the direction of where the altercation was taking place. It was clear that he still had to step in, after all the girl was only doing her job. Nobu knew that and the girls knew that, as he allowed one of the bunny girls walking the floor to stop in front of him, he extended his hand out and picked up the whiskey and crystal glass that held the liquid, it seemed that the ice shaped into a perfect sphere as always was on point.

"Remove the guests from table thirteen, switch them to another table and make sure that no-one disturbs us, after all, I would hate for things to get messy when we have guests around. This is not something that I want them to see and would rather deal with this matter privately, am I understood?"

"Yes, it will be done"

The tapping of her heels on the floor signified her walking away quickly with speed to address all of the concerns that had been given to her by the man. Soon a few of the girls surrounded the table pulling guests away and moving them around it was done quickly and to not cause a fuss the girls made sure that those on the table paid little attention to the man that was causing the scene. Allowing Nobu to saunter up, his free hand undoing the button on his jacket allowing him to sit down next to this stranger. Though from the reports he was a high roller that much was for sure, and they had made a tidy profit before the dealer had been called out. That seemed like a fair catch in his eyes, but profit was profit.

"I would ask you to remove your hand from my dealer, after all, she is just a girl working for money, like most in creator city, this place is always infested with the worst scum, the outcast of Konoha. So what is someone of your stature doing in a place like this? It doesn't seem your kind of atmosphere, I must say, unless you're coming with another matter, we can discuss things here on the floor in the noise, or in the office upstairs, I am easy either way that choice is yours."

Taking a sip from the glass he let the liquid gently pour down his throat enjoying the kick that it gave that sweet little burn at the end of the drink always made Nobu enjoy himself. Even he would never admit it to anyone else, but the little pleasures in life where the things that made life so much better.

"Oh I forgot, I do apologise, my name is Yamanaka Nobu, the owner of this fine establishment. So how can I help on this matter then? And what should I address you as if I may be so kind as to ask? And would you care for a drink as well?"

The hint of a smirk never leaving Nobu face as he waited to see what fun would change the dull evening he was having so far, after all the casino attracted all sorts to itself.

Maki looks over as a similarly well dressed person begins to head his way, his own eyes moving around as he realizes that the table closest to him is cleared out. As he asks Maki to let the dealer go, the former Sennin’s face moves from that look of hunger to one of smug satisfaction as he does so, releasing her with such suddenness she stumbles back, and shooing her away as he sizes up the boy before him. Though the other looks about the same as Maki, his own looks were quite deceiving on that front.

”My stature? Curious way to describe it. I heard there was fun to be had here. And people worth talking to.” Maki makes no move to follow the other up to this office, instead turning finally to fully face the other, sizing them up. ”I’m here to blow the funds of the Isaki Clan, burn them to nothing and watch the members of the clan grow more and more exasperated at the astronomical spending sprees I go on as they get more and more expensive for those greedy bastards. Doesn’t mean I like being cheated, though.”

Maki takes a few steps closer to the other, sniffing a bit as he does. Ever since he’d begun letting those bats around his smell and hearing had become rather sensitive. And what he picked up here was interesting indeed. ”Tonkon Maki. Former Sennin of Konoha. Head of the Isaki Clan. Wrecker of shit. Pick something, I don’t much care.”

Maki lifts a hand and flicks it, a glass appearing seemingly from nowhere before he lifts his other hand and makes a similar motion, a flask popping into his grip. ”No thanks, brought my own. As for help – Help me figure out why your casino is cheating these, as you call them, ‘worst scum, outcast of Konoha’ people out of their little bit of money they have. Saw your woman fleecing people before I ever got to her table.”

He let the other keep that smirk going, wanting to see what this accusation would bring. In truth, he came here because he wanted to indulge himself in some sinful entertainment, gambling and drinking specifically; but if things went right he might be willing to add fisticuffs to that goal.

Nobu looked to the man that had entered his casino, assaulted one of his staff in those terms. Even if he had been of Leaf he could laugh at the fact that this man from the appearance showed everything that was wrong with the village. Everything that had allowed the toxin and poison to fester and build inside of the villages. But to be so blatant about just how little he cared was almost a mind-blowing situation for Nobu, as he sat there drinking slowly, the man was rude enough to not accept a drink from another man. Quite the predicament he had in front of him, even he knew that.

"Description is everything Tonkon Maki, that is the truth behind the matter. So you here to go on a spending spree and break your own Clan. Interesting fellow aren't you?, All that money, all that wealth, and you come to burn it here of all places, while the profits of the Casino, of the bar in Konoha goes back out to the poor, the sick, those that need money to survive. While those with the money play the game of being so righteous. Like yourself really Tonkon Maki, gambling it all away. Why not piss those off in your clan and help those suffering?"

Nobu posed the question to the man, waiting to see what result it would bring, he could feel the twinge between the two of them. This was not a good situation to be in for the Casino, and not to do anything right here would be the best resolution but he wondered if that would even be a possibility. The truth was he suspected it would kick off if he wanted it to or not, the real question was where that would happen, that was something he at least had to try and control.

"In terms of what this casino does, well I am happy to help you out there, of course, you always lose to the house Tonkon Maki. Always."

The smirk had vanished from Nobu face as he answered the question as bluntly and directly as he could, after all, that was simply put the truth of the matter, anyone coming into the casino with any kind of well off attitude and money to prove it would come out worse than they went in. Nobu would always make sure that was the case, and Maki was no exception to that.

"You see, while we are all worse than scum even I am an outcast of Konoha while being allowed to stay that way and not submitted to the normal death that would come to my hands. That is a call made by your Lady 5th though I am sure you already knew that being one of the Former Sennin of Konoha yourself?"

Nobu leaned in the chair as he continued to sip from the glass he had, his eyes never leaving the man in front of him even for a second, the noise, the hustle and bustle of money changing hands, he never let his focus leave the Leaf Shinobi.

"With my statement worst sum, those that are rich and outcast from Konoha, those that have grew up rich, lived rich, never known hunger, pain, suffering, never had any roof over there heads, been left to sleep in the gutter. this casino will take from them, and those that come in, starving, broken, wanting warmth, will walk out with enough money to sleep one night in the shelter at least, if not money to see there family looked after. Hell even a job for most of the young girls around here, stability Tonko Maki that is what I bring with this Casino."

Maki studies the other even as he was sure they were studying him. They obviously cared about appearances. The outfit, the hair, even the behavior; everything reeked of a person who wanted to look important. And it made the hypocrisy all the more apparent. He spoke of the worst scum, yet he was running a casino in this slum of a city and cheating at it as if the odds weren’t always with the casino in the end.

Even now he was talking about being righteous and giving money to those in need. Maki begins to shake with laughter. ”Kid, I personally bankrolled more social outreach programs between here and other villages than you could imagine. And I am not righteous. I’m far from it. These people can pick themselves up, they can get their shit together, and they can become productive members of society. I help them do that, but I’m not going to carry them all the way to the top. As for losing, I think you're confusing the terms of losing….and being swindled.”

Maki’s katana is suddenly in his hand and slams point-first into the ground between them, sliding into the floor like a knife into bread. ”So…you’re that kind of scum eh? And you say Asuka approved of this? Well well well. Not often I meet someone so blatant about it.” Maki paid little heed to the words about people sleeping in gutters and not having a roof over their heads. He’d grown up dirt poor, and after Leaf’s fall to the Daimyo had spent much of his adolescence living in the wilds and trying to figure out what his life was going to do to him next.

”You talk a lot of game. A big talker. But end of the day….you’re just another thief. Employing other thieves. Back in the old days of Konoha, we had interesting methods of handling this kind of crime. If you bore false witness against another, you got your eye taken out. If you slandered someone falsely, your tongue was removed.” He pulls the sword out and swings it sharply at the other’s right hand. ”And if you stole from another you lost your fucking hand! Normally I would go for hers, but you told her to cheat me so I think I’m taking yours!”

Nobu listened to the words the man spoke, it seemed that he was all hell bend on getting his way for such a small thing. Interesting to see a man so calm and collective instantly go to violence, he would have to make a mental note of that for the future when thinking about Maki. He sighed to himself as it seemed that he would take offense at the slightest wording, it was simply put a man with an attitude against anyone else, and he laughed slightly at the wording of calling him Scum, such an interesting tone to take after all about something so trivial it made Nobu consider the best reply to his words.

"Scum, maybe, but isn't that like someone who marries into the family just for profit and for gain, you claim to take the high road yet waste the clan's money in a place like this. So let me guess another arranged marriage?"

Nobu sighed as he listened to the man's words, wondering if he actually came to the casino looking for a fight, or if he was looking for actually a good time. It was hard to judge what someone's true intentions were, and even Nobu knew that he wouldn't be able to read everyone, but here they were at the point of self-destruction and it seemed the man was hell-bent on making Nobu fight for what he had. That was fine with the man as he had been fighting his whole life to get to where he was, even he knew and understood that much.

"If you wanna do this then so be it, we can empty the casino and I can charge you for damages, or we can move this somewhere more private?"

Battle Moderator Opening Post and Guidelines

Your bmod request has been picked up by myself, as such please read the below carefully as it will state the rules that the fight will follow and the expectation of both combatants for this mod.

  • Send, in a PM on NC, not discord, your actions, and all your battle information: Stats, class, abilities, jutsu, items, weapons, etc.
    • When sending this information, I would prefer it if you can hyperlink your information. This greatly decreases the time it takes for a moderator to mod as we do have the link straight away instead of searching around.
    • Do NOT just send a link to your profile, you will be asked to send the above information again.
  • Rolls are completed in Discord -> Private Bmod-rolling or bmod-rolling
  • UBR rules do apply: meaning you have 48 hours to post and send actions.
Please be clear on your actions and conditionals, remember to include everything relevant to the round.

Example: Actions said:
Hyperlinked Justu name | Rank use | Special action

If this fight has multiple combatants, you will need to specify who are your allies and who are your enemies in your opening actions.

Please remember that if your actions are unclear, or you haven't specified targets where appropriate, this will leave us having to either do guesswork or randomizing targets. So be careful and be sure with the actions you send in.
Let's have a fun fight, please remember that any questions about the round when posted can be directed to me via discord or via a conversation on the site.

Indeed, Maki had come here wanting to have some fun. And gambling was less than fun when you could simply convince your opponent they were losing by bending their mind to your whim. But a fight was always fun. Happi was a decent enough sparring partner, but ever since he lost his arm in Mist he’d been rather subdued and unwilling to push himself like Maki had.

And then the other picks at a nerve. Maki’s eyes narrow, a red tint seeming to come over them as one of the spirits he’d consumed in his life tries to break through, the rage of Ha. ”You know absolutely nothing about why I married into that godsbedamned clan you little shit.” He clenches his fists and the glove over his left hand begins to smoke and crack audibly. ”Those bastards know no bottom to their lows. They threatened kids to make me comply. I guess I’m no different in your eyes, but one key thing separating us is this: You deserve what I’m about to do, you thieving fuck.”

The glove begins falling away, sloughing off his hand as the heat finally destroys it. He lists his hand, the skeletal appendage seeming to radiate energy as the cursed power flows through it. ”Right here. I’ll make sure to pay your next of kin for what happens. If they even claim you anymore.”

Nobu sighed as he looked towards the man, there was no hate in his eyes, no anger at the fact that someone would be so willing to get into a fight, there was just simply pity. Nobu actually pitied Maki, not because of the way he lived his life, far from it, but for the fact that he honestly thought that fighting would make him feel better. Deep down the anger the pain, all of that was brought up here against Nobu, and it showed what was wrong with the Shinobi of the world today. If anything Maki was just helping prove a point about the villages, and how the Shinobi conducted themselves. Leaf seemed to do all its talking with fights, but getting that from Asuka wasn't too hard to imagine that some of the Sennin were the exact same.

He nodded slowly the man at least had him mostly down to at on the actual wording of what Nobu was to the core, he even agreed with Maki, but as he sighed and watched as the people moved out of the way the Casino emptied in seconds, and soon it was just him and Maki standing face to face, the Sennin vs the Rouge interesting how the world went around wasn't it.

"I am not here for a fight, do what you want Maki, however, know that I will not be aggressive in my own house, for after all stooping down to your level I am nothing more than another overly aggressive Shinobi of Leaf, there is a time and place for violence and today isn't it for me."

Nobu looked around it seemed that the man was paying no attention to him right now, it may have been due to the simple fact that the man was busy, or the fact that he had other things on his mind. Either way, he wanted to take advantage of this opportunity and make sure that he made it and used the opening to get away, he had things to do and knew that he was required to be elsewhere right now. As he made his move he sprinted for the bar and over the counter, sliding across it and landing on the other side. With haste, he quickly opened the cellar and sprinted down the stairs that were there.

"Maybe another time Maki we can settle this little discussion but for now I do have to be elsewhere I hope you understand and of course don't mind the fact that I am dashing off like this."

With that, he moved quickly down the corridors and maze-like passages that had been created underneath the base, and as such he knew the tunnels and the way out, it was quick and simple to escape if required and right now he had the need to make sure that he got out and escaped. After all, he knew that no one would be following him hopefully, as he continued down towards the exit he burst out of the door and into the daylight, the hustle, and bustle of the streets around him giving him the opportunity to vanish into the crown unseen and make his way out of here, after all, he had placed to be and things to do.
